Name: Ainsley Jessica Lynch
Meaning: Ainsley - Solitary Meadow, Jessica - God Beholds, Lynch - Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Loingsigh 'descendant of Loingseach'
Birthdate: March 15th, 2030
Zodiac: Pisces
Strengths: Compassionate - Adaptable - Accepting - Devoted - Imaginative
Weaknesses: Oversensitive - Indecisive - Self-pitying - Lazy - Escapist
As a Pisces born on March 15th, your passion and open mindedness define you. In all matters of life, you bring intensity and passion. This explains why you will devote an endless amount of time and effort into anything that you feel are worthwhile, especially family/loved ones. While others prefer to stick to the familiar, you spend a lot of time experimenting. Since you are willing to try anything at least once, you have amassed a wide variety of interests.

Hometown: Dunedin, New Zealand
Birthplace: Christchurch, New Zealand
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Wand: Knotted 12 Inch Flexible Pine Wand with Fwooper Feather Core

Length: A fairly average length for a wand, not at all uncommon or very special.
Style: The knots of this wand's original wood remain clearly visible - earthy, this style of wand is perhaps most traditional and closest to nature.
Wood: Pine wands are often found in the hands of the 'loner', they do not protest creative and new uses of magic and this is perhaps why they seem to be the wands most successfully used with non-verbal magic.
Core: Fwooper feathers make wands that are great for use in Charms and Care of Magical Creatures classes. The wand caster should be warned that they will likely have trouble casting the silencing spell though. If rumors about this wand core are to be believed, it is said to slowly drive the wand wielder mad.
Flexibility: Flexible: Not easily broken, this wand performs under strenuous circumstances with little effort - though how well it performs is ultimately up to its wielder.

Hogwarts House:
Hufflepuff

Hair: Ginger, hanging long and usually loose, straight but never quite brushed properly, and usually with flowers or twigs carefully tangled in by Ainsley herself.
Eyes: Wide, green, and curious, with long lashes.
Build: Tall and gangly, passed six feet when she was fifteen to reach an adult height of 6'3".
Complexion: Pale and celtic, with rosy cheeks and freckles all over.
Style: Ecclectic and dainty, Ainsley favours long skirts and lacy frills and anything that could come out of a children's book about a good witch. She likes to customise her clothes, often sewing on doilies for extra pockets, or attaching handmade bead jewellery.
Distinguishing Features: The first things people notice about Ainsley are generally her height, her large quantities of hair, and her overall eclectic style.
Playby: Florence Welch (Formerly Daria Sidorchuk and Nadia Esra)

109882c00d34fca6effb96859b4d18280588db13.png

Personality: Ainsley is withdrawn around people she doesn't know well and tends to like a lot of personal space. She spends a lot of time imagining and developing fantasy worlds and exploring the bush around her house, far away from other people. Once she lets someone in though, she holds them close to her heart, sharing her thoughts and feelings and secret inner worlds. She's a very naturally curious person, constantly pondering and questioning the nature of things around her, always eager to learn and understand more than she does.
Strengths:
- Ainsley is very creative and resourceful, and looks at problems with an eye to solve them. She doesn't see challenges as unconquerable, but puzzles to be cracked.
- Ainsley's odd way of thinking can offer a different perspective on a lot of issues than people are generally used to.
Weaknesses:
- Ainsley doesn't find socialising easy, and doesn't fit into groups easily. She needs a lot more personal space than other people are generally willing to accommodate, and can get very stressed out when these limits are pushed.
- Has little to no experience with the structure of the school system, and finds a lot of the rules very hard to understand and follow.
- Ainsley is very used to having her curiosity sated and always asking questions, which can become frustrating, and make holding a conversation with her difficult.
Hobbies:
Writing and Imagination - Ainsley is a prolific writer and imaginer of worlds, spending a lot of her time writing down all sorts of details about her magical worlds and then living it through her imagination, romping through the woods and playing out all sorts of stories and scenarios.
Crafts - Ainsley likes to make things with her hands, especially jewellery, and collects beads and buttons to make into things. She likes sculpting little figurines or pendants out of coloured clay, all of which have an exciting story behind them, and is never seen without wearing something she made.

Personality Type: INFP (The Mediator)
Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration.

Strengths: Idealistic, Seek and Value Harmony, Open-Minded and Flexible, Very Creative, Passionate and Energetic, Dedicated and Hard-working
Weaknesses:Too Idealistic, Too Altruistic, Impractical, Dislike Dealing With Data, Take Things Personally, Difficult to Get to Know

History: Ainsley's parents met when her mother Karen was barely out of high school and her father Eric had just moved to Christchurch to work. Eric's treatment of Karen gradually got worse and worse until she felt like she had no choice but to take Ainsley and start over far away, managing to scrounge enough money to buy a small cottage far outside Dunedin. She was lucky enough to find a good job editing novels for publication, which allowed her to stay at home and raise Ainsley. Karen spent years recovering from the way she was treated, and especially early in Ainsley's life she was paranoid and isolated herself and Ainsley from other people, preferring to spend time together, protecting her daughter and stoking her imagination. She chose to homeschool Ainsley, and encourage her curiosity and drive to learn on her own, leading to Ainsley's deep love for asking questions.
Health: [Approval ID 11755117] Ainsley is autistic, though she and her family are unaware. Physically, she is in ordinary health for a child her age.

ad02b41e768e5d8d71def550e318cea19021d3de.png

Goals: To learn and understand as much as she can about any situation she finds herself in.
Fears: Situations where she doesn't fully understand what's happening or why.
Secrets: Ainsley is often lonely, and wishes she found it easier to make friends.
Regrets: Situations where she hasn't understood how to react to the people around her.

Favourites
Colour: Dark green and bright yellow.
Food: Roast pumpkin.
Smell: Forests, old books, floral shampoo.
Music Genre: Folk
Animal: Deer

Ainsley entered her first year at Hogwarts with big expectations and dreams of what magic would be like, and as a result found the reality more than a little overwhelming. Combining the rigid rules of how magic actually worked with her first experience of the structure of school was overwhelming, and the first couple of months Ainsley felt lost and uncertain and was constantly doubting herself and everything around her. She made a couple of friends early on, but her only real, sturdy anchor throughout the year was her friendship with Amber Wilson, her dormmate and one of the only people who took the time to follow and learn Ainsley's pace. The friendship developed as Ainsley adapted to life at Hogwarts and the reality of learning magic, and the two remained fast friends throughout Ainsley's first year, spending more and more time together. Ainsley left her first year with pride and a lot more certainty, and feeling much more mature than she had entered the school.

As she finally set foot in the Great Hall Ainsley's first thought was sheer wonder, entering such a magical place and knowing that she could call it home now was a feeling Ainsley had only ever dreamed of.

Her second thought was another wave of shock over parting with her mother.

Never in her life had Ainsley been parted from her mother for as long as she had already today, and it was going to be MONTHS before the next holiday. Months. For the life of her, she couldn't understand why her mother couldn't come to the school too. Or a wizard could come and teach her at home! That would be perfect! She would show the wizard all her favourite parts of the bush around their house, and maybe even take them to her secret wizard's grove. It would be perfect. And mum could come too. It wouldn't be so... loud, and crowded, and... like this.

Wrapped up in her thoughts Ainsley didn't realise the group of first years had come to a halt, and wandered into the back of the boy in front of her, bumping into him gently and almost falling over. Her eyes widened and she gasped, stepping back quickly, too struck with nerves to remember to apologise. Before it could turn into more of an incident, luckily, they were distracted by the beginning of the sorting ceremony.

Ainsley watched intently, hyperfocusing on the proceedings. The hat could read minds? She watched students trot up with varying degrees of nerves, have their future for the next seven years decided, and strut away cheerfully to their new families. This was... definitely not how she had pictured magic working. Things were just supposed to... happen. This level of... structure and organisation seemed decidedly at odds with the very nature of magic as she imagined it. Someone was holding a list of things, for pete's sakes!

In all her musings and wonderings, Ainsley had forgotten to pay attention to the names being called out until suddenly it was her own, ringing through the hall. Every thought she might have carried that she would stride confidently towards her new magical destiny dissolved and Ainsley froze, trembling hard and paralysed with fear. She knew it was her turn now, to approach this strange magical hat, and take her place in this strange magical world, but the actions needed to make that happened deserted her, feet forgetting how to walk, lungs forgetting how to breathe. It took her name being called a second time to snap Ainsley out of her frozen state, every movement of her legs on the walk up to the stool a conscious act of telling her muscles what they needed to do to transport her to where she needed to be. The effort it took to push through her fear and loneliness and uncertainty had Ainsley near tears as she took her spot on the stool, head trembling and thoughts racing wildly as the hat was placed on her head.

"You're interested in learning, but you'll learn magic in all of the houses. That isn't your most valued trait. For that reason, you belong in...HUFFLEPUFF!"

Second year was quieter for Ainsley than first. Feeling more at ease in the rhythm and rules of school she didn't find things quite as overwhelming as first, and was able to stand on her own two feet more. This was convenient, as her best friend Amber wasn't around quite as much, busy with other friendships and schoolwork and projects. They remained the closest of friends though, attending the halloween ball together in matching costumes, for which they won 'Most Scary'. Ainsley also joined the Wild Patch Club and found great joy in returning to her love of gardening and participating in the valentines rose deliveries, though the club's LGBT events introduced her to a concepts she had never been taught about before. After doing some reading and talking with Amber she began thinking for the first time about how she felt herself, what kind of people she liked, and whether she liked anyone at all. She didn't find any easy answers, but began considering what kind of relationships she might like to be in in future for the first time.

Third year was a year of learning, understanding, and misunderstanding for Ainsley. She started out the year having come to terms with the fact that she was attracted to all people, and beginning to understand that her feelings for Amber went beyond friendship, feelings she had begun to explore through fiction. Amber's reaction to Ainsley's coming out was less than supportive though, and left Ainsley feeling lost and uncertain, not sure how to handle it. Not long after, while Ainsley was still trying to sort out her feelings, Amber decided to go to the yule ball with a male friend, who had asked her. Outraged and hurt and feeling abandoned, Ainsley cut all contact between them and threw her stories in the lake, bitterly depressed. Despite managing to make a new friend in Hayley Elridge, Ainsley remained miserable for the rest of the year. Towards the end of the second semester she accidentally attempted a reconciliation with Amber, but despite resolving some issues between them, the situation remained very tense, and Ainsley remained miserable, and burning with feelings she was sure would disgust her friend if she knew them.

Ainsley began fourth year still on a very uncertain footing with her best friend, their efforts to patch things up having only gone so far. Even after learning that Amber and Wyatt had broken up, Ainsley wasn't sure how to return to how things had once been with Amber. She remained close to Hayley, the Slytherin girl who had become her friend while she and Amber weren't talking, but that wound up only making things more awkward when, to her embarrassment, Ainsley missed while giving Hayley an appreciative cheek kiss, and landed on her friend's lips by accident. To make matters worse, Amber saw the mistake and of course assumed things between them were romantic, which was certainly not Ainsley's intent. At the same time she found a new friend in November Albertson, a roommate and member of their study group with an intense dislike for Amber. Towards the end of the year, to both of their relief, Amber and Ainsley began to return to how things had always been, the closest of best friends once more at last.

In the holidays before Ainsley's fifth year, Amber came to stay with her for a while, and Ainsley enjoyed showing her best friend around the forest she grew up in. Shortly after they returned to Hogwarts Ainsley noticed Amber acting strangely for a while, a mystery quickly solved when Amber revealed that she had realised she was only attracted to girls. This set Ainsley's hopes soaring, and changed the tone of their friendship, both girls quickly acknowledging that they felt drawn to one another. While her own love life was blossoming, Ainsley tried to help her friend Hayley out, who was stuck in a similar situation to Ainsley's experiences years earlier. The Yule Ball was by far the most significant experience of the year for Ainsley. Although neither of them could quite bring themselves to acknowledge that it was a date at first, she attended with Amber, and the two shared a first kiss that had been years coming. Ainsley spent the rest of the year feeling as though she was walking on clouds, deeply in love with her girlfriend. She also quite enjoyed her studies, though towards the end of the year the OWL exams became a more and more significant pressure for her. To Ainsley's dismay, the advice she had given Hayley earlier in the year didn't play out for the best, and she did her best to support her friend in her heartbreak.

After a tumultuous fifth year, Ainsley's sixth year at Hogwarts was blessedly relaxed. After a fun holiday where she attended a party with her classmates, Ainsley's school year was mostly focused on spending time with her friends, and making a few more. Her relationship with Amber continued to go smoothly, and Ainsley enjoyed all of her classes, even Transfiguration, which she had struggled with the last year. Spending her free time in the Wild Patch helped Ainsley stay connected to the things that make her happy, and she found herself happy and relaxed most of the year.

In the holidays before her final year at Hogwarts, Ainsley began a new job, as an assistant at Ollivanders. Though she found the crowds and social requirements overwhelming at times she thoroughly enjoyed the work itself, relishing the opportunity to study more about how magic works, and be part of new students first steps into Hogwarts. Upon returning to school she was pleasantly surprised to find she had been named the new leader of the Wild Patch club, a title she considered a great honour, and found herself spending even more time in the garden than she previously had, eager to create a fun place for students to learn more about working the land, and produce something really special. The rest of her time was split between enjoying her final year at school with her girlfriend and friends, and studying for the upcoming NEWT exams. Towards the end of the year Ainsley got to organise the LGBTQ+ Pride event for the school, a day of special importance to her, considering how much help she had found the event as a younger student herself. At the end of the year, Ainsley graduated with excellent grades, and though the future scared of her, she felt ready to face it, with her girlfriend and friends by her side, as she said her final painful goodbye to Hogwarts.

Ainsley couldn't believe she was sitting here. This was it. The end of her time at Hogwarts. What had once been such a strange and unfamiliar place had become her second home over the last seven years, and she didn't feel ready to leave this all behind. Ainsley didn't know yet what the world ahead held for her, but saying goodbye to everything she knew, the places she went every day and the people she saw every day hurt much more than she had ever imagined it would. Ainsley was deeply proud of Amber and Flavio for everything they had accomplished, but as Amber got up when they were called for speeches, Ainsley wished she could have held her girlfriend's hand through this.

Flavio's speech came first, and Ainsley couldn't keep tears from pricking at her eyes as she listened to her best friend speak. It was so strange to think about the children they had arrived at Hogwarts as, and how far they had come since then, how much they had all changed and grown. Ainsley wondered what the timid little girl she had come to school as would think if she could see herself now. Amber's speech came next, and Ainsley had to choke back more tears. She felt exactly the same way about her time at Hogwarts as Amber did, and hearing it put into words really made this moment sink in. They were going to leave Hogwarts, forever. When Amber returned to the seats Ainsley took her hand, squeezing it tightly as the headmistress began to call names for people to collect their diplomas. Ainsley wiped her eyes with her other hand, struggling to hold back her tears to no avail. The sound of her own name came far sooner than Ainsley was prepared for and she stood up, taking slow shaky breaths and squeezing Amber's hand quickly before stepping away, her hands trembling as she approached the stage. Ainsley did her best not to cry as she accepted her diploma from the headmistress, taking slow, shaky breaths as she hurried back to her seat, staring at the piece of paper in her hand. This was really it. Her time at Hogwarts had really come to an end.
