Style: The knots of this wand's original wood remain clearly visible - earthy, this style of wand is perhaps most traditional and closest to nature.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Poppy has always had a curious nature and an inherent sense of wonder, which has led her to a fondness for sketching plants, animals, and whatever whimsical thing she can think of. She has a very active imagination which makes her incredibly creative but it also leads to her jumping to conclusions, and usually not to very good ones. Poppy can be a bit shy when she first meets people and isn't always sure how to talk to them, or if what she's saying is the right thing. She worries a lot that she'll bore people by talking too much but she also tends to talk too fast if she get's excited, which happens a lot. She is also very kind and a good listener when given the chance. Poppy is incredibly open when it comes to what she's feeling and thinking. She expects the same from others and gets frustrated when people aren't honest with her or try and hide things. She doesn't appreciate mean humor or sarcasm at all and would much rather people just say what they really mean and get it over with. She appreciates kindness but not when it's trying to disguises mean intentions.

B A C K G R O U N D
Born into a muggle family, a world with magic always seemed like a dream. Her father is a botanist, with an extensive garden and greenhouse where he studies and grows all kinds of things. Her mother on the other hand is an artist who paints mostly abstract landscapes and portraits. Growing up her parents always encouraged her curiosity whether it was scientific or more whimsical.
Her parents met while they were both at university in Auckland. They were going to different schools but crossed paths at a bookstore during their finally year of school. After literally stumbling into one another they struck up a conversation that turned into a date that lasted all evening. Both her mother and father grew up in Auckland and by the time they got married a few years later and had Poppy, they knew they wanted to raise their daughter in the country. Her father was able to do his research remotely and her mother could paint anywhere, but it helped that the beaches and forests around Russel were quite inspiring.
Growing up Poppy spent a lot of time exploring the land around their house with little to no supervision once she was old enough. So she got used to spending time by herself and became very independent and fearless when it came to nature. At first her mother started homeschooling her which meant she didn't socialize with many kids her age, besides her cousins and other family members she saw a few times a year for holidays and family celebrations. Eventually she started attending a primary school in town once her mother's art career got a bit busier and she no longer had the time. But it wasn't long before she received a letter from Hogwarts.
Her parent's were shocked when the letter arrived and were a little overwhelmed. They desperately wanted to help with their daughter's transition into the magical world but had no idea how. They were very nervous during Poppy's first year away and absolutely smothered her when she returned for holidays. Now they are a little less worried as their daughter has grown more confident as a witch and are just happy to see her when she comes home.
