Please do not sign up to this game if you're not going to be active on the board during play
With ghost stories passing from person to person and horror in the air, Halloween approaches Hogwarts Village! While the townsfolk gear up for an evening of spooks and scares, pranks and treats, little do they know true evil lurks in their midst! Will the innocent villagers be able to root out the werewolves hiding among them, or will the village fall to the wolves' teeth?
TEAM VILLAGER must find and eliminate all the werewolves in their midst to win
TEAM WEREWOLF must pick off all the delicious villagers around them to win.
Signups will begin immediately and close at 10 am on October 31st, NZST
Once signups are closed, every player will be sent a PM with their role in the game and, if needed, instructions on how to play their role.
At this point we will immediately begin the first Night Phase. Phases last approx. 24 hours, due to time zones across the board.
Night Phase
No players may post in the thread during night phase, as all villagers are asleep. During this time, players with night roles may PM me to perform their actions.
Day Phase
When day breaks, the results of the previous night's actions will be revealed. All players may discuss suspicions and accuse others of being werewolves. At the end of each day phase, the player with the most votes will be lynched by the village, for better or worse. Ties will be broken by RNG.
Villager - Your only goal is to survive, and vote out the werewolves around you!
Werewolf - By day they masquerade as regular villagers, but by night they prowl the village picking off the villagers one by one.
Ghost - The Ghost is a special role, assumed by the first player killed. After becoming the Ghost, said player may communicate with the living once per day, only one letter at a time. They play for the team they were a part of in their lifetime, and may use their powers to either sow distrust or unite the village. Each night as they haunt the village, the Ghost has a random chance of recieving a piece of information relating to another player's role. (The ghost may not vote in lynchings, and they are not counted as a living player with regards to win conditions - if the village is 2 werewolves and a formerly villager ghost, the werewolves win.)
Seer - At night, the Seer uses their powers of prediction to discover the role of one of the townspeople.
Fool - Although they fancy themselves a dab hand with the tarot deck and believe themselves a Seer, using their powers of prediction once a night to discover another player's role, the Fool unfortunately receives only random answers.
Bodyguard - Each night, the Bodyguard stands by the side of one townsperson and keeps them safe from harm, should the wolves come knocking. The Bodyguard may not guard the same person two nights in a row.
Mayor - As a freely elected representative of the people, the Mayor's voice carries more weight in discussions, and their vote will be counted twice when lynchings are called for. Your role comes with responsibility - so take care making decisions!
Spellcaster - A trickster of sorts, each night the spellcaster charms away the voice of one of the townspeople. The recipient of said curse may only communicate via emojis and textless gifs for the following day cycle, with the exception of the name of the player they wish to vote for. The Spellcaster may not curse the same person two nights in a row.
Additional Roles
Additional Werewolves - The town will begin with one werewolf, and more will flock to the feast at 8 players, 10 players, 16 players (the Dire Wolf), 21 players, and 25 players. They must all be eliminated in order for the village to win.
Silversmith - At 12 players, the village Silversmith will join the festivities. Due to their extensive work with silver, this player can not be killed by werewolves at night. Any attempt to do so will instead result in the death of one random werewolf player. This player can only be killed by lynching, or the Hunter's gun.
Hunter - At 15 players, the village's plight will attract the attention of a Hunter. Upon the Hunter's death, be it by the wolves or the village's own hand, their quick gun hand allows them to take one other townsperson with them, for better or worse.
Dire Wolf - At 16 players, one of the many wolves pouring into the village will take a liking to one of the villagers, and bond with them. Should this villager be eliminated by any means, the Dire Wolf will pass as well. The Dire Wolf may not reveal their bond mate's identity to the other wolves.
Apprentice Seer - At 20 players, the Seer takes an Apprentice under their wing. Should the Seer perish, the Apprentice Seer will step up to take their place.
During the day, please make it clear who you are are voting to lynch, by bolding their name.
This game is played out of character, so only one account per person. It would be best to keep this account as the one you use for the whole game.
There should be no communicating about the game outside of the thread, other than night role PMs with me.
You may not, for any reason, show another player the PM containing your role. Lying about roles is permitted, using screenshots or direct quotes to prove you aren't is forbidden.
Special thanks goes to ElementalAlchemist from IF/ZB Support, who showed that this game could be played on a forum, has worked out a good number of kinks in it, gave us the code to generate game roles and (most graciously) let me copy his summary of each game role from his post in previous games verbatim. Many thanks!
Let the games begin!
