Hello folks :D

Not sure if a topic has been posted about this before (excuse me if it has, and please link me!!) but the sims is a great franchise and moving from the topic in shouty it made sense to post a thread and discuss it in more details.

If you're a fan of the sims, when did you discover the game? Which game is your favourite and why? have you made any of your HNZ characters or their houses in the sims? If so, do share!!

The sims 2 is my favourite game and I discovered it in 2005 through a childhood friend. More recently I have admittedly worked on character's houses and finished building them before, and made characters in CAS in the sims 4 as well, and in the sims 3 many years ago when I was an HNZ noob I'm sure =)) It's fun to be able to build what you imagine a character's house/aesthetics to look like, and be able to share images to show others, that's definitely my favorite part of it!!

The sims is so well known I really hope I am not the only one as interested/curious to know about any HNZ/the sims crossover :p

AHHH yay! thanks for making the thread!!!

Okay, so i discovered the game i think in 2009 or 2010 and i was about like 7 - 8 at the time haha - i know, young age right? (I'm 18 now which is crazy)

ANYWAYS, the first game i got was Sims 2 as well! I was on a road trip in Napier, New Zealand with my family one day and we decided to go to the video games store - Sims 2 was on sale at the time so i begged my parents to get it and my dad said yes haha

Okay, well i have a tough decision between the Sims 3 or 4 - Thought Sims 4 needs some more improvements in my opinion. But my favourite expansion pack i think would be Sims 3 Pets or Sims 4 Get To Work!

However, i haven't made any of my HNZ characters (which i think is a cool idea) or played Sims in a while bc the family PC in the living room, which has all of my Sims games on it, has been stuffed for a while. So when I get my own PC in the future, ill do that haha

By all means please share when/if you do make HNZ things in the sims!!!

When I discovered the sims 2 in 2005 it was on a sleepover with my bff, who is still a friend and we played the sims 2 university and it was so good, I begged my mum to get me the sims after that!! Also for the record the sims 2 university and open for business are iconic alright!!

I recently made my character Archie in the sims, bless his heart. It was hard to choose outfits but these two are his everyday and I love them!!

Love this! Like I was saying in shouty, I first started out with the Sims 2 on PS2 years ago and then didn't actually start playing Sims again until the pandemic started. I have never been much of a player. I get bored pretty easily so I usually play for a while and then go build something else. I like building houses and actually made The Burrow and then all the Disney princesses a while back. They're in the gallery (I think my username is redddviness) if you want to check them out!

I made a version of Adorah a few months ago but it wasn't quite right because at this point, I just think I associate her with Rowan Blanchard other than a few minor details.

I started with the sims 1, had a brilliant time playing the game. I love making little houses and actually make a carrier in the game. After that I just progressed with the games. Sims 3 is one of my favourites as of today. It so broad and you can do so much. I somehow never remade a HNZ character on the sims, I should do it sometime :D

My first foray into the sims was with SimCity 2000 on the PC. I'd spend hours playing and my family would do regular check ins to see how my city was faring. :) The first Sims I played was Sims2 when I was a teen. My sister and I would take turns with it. She was definitely the ruiner and I'd have to clean up her messes xD
I've also played one that takes place on a beach (can't remember the name ) but it got me through some long commutes.

About two years ago, I bought a PS4 as a gift to myself after going probably a good five years not playing video games and the first game I bought was Sims with the pets expansion pack. So now I play that for a bit when I have super stressful days at work. It's been nice having Sims again. I've never tried to make an HNZ character but it sounds like fun so I may have to have a go one day. ^_^

I've been hesistant to get any pet packs because I'm afraid I would be bored with them because they don't have aspirations and such, right?

My first sims was 2 when my dad bought it when it first came out back in 2004.My first time playing after installing the game with the 4 disks it came with which took FOREVER, I ended up forgetting to buy a fridge and had no money and quit crying when all my sims started dying of starvation xD

But also remember all those over side-sims games that have come out? I honestly loved Sims Medieval, and remember playing Urbz Sims In The City an awful lot as well

I remember adding so much extra furniture, wallpapers, mods etc to my sims it usually broke after a while. XD

Also who here has also played My Sims? It wasn't a really good game, but I loved it xD
My-Sims

I actually miss Mysims so much, I can't play it anymore coz I dont have access to my console but dang

Oooh I haven't played mysims but I have seen videos, and of course the mysims trophies in the sims 4 x_x Have you played any other sims spin off games @Rosemarie Chatwin ?

How have I never posted a sims chat before. I literally talk about it all the time omg
That's awesome! How/when did you discover the sims? which sims game is your favorite?

I’ve been a dedicated simmer since the demo games in 1999. a friend of mine’s dad was designer with ea studios and i got a free demo out of it. the demo was a little less than building a house and making a person but i remember i had fun at my little 6 years of age

I've never been much of a sims person, my sister had like the sims 2? i think. I tried to play it a few times, but i also killed them off pretty quickly - a lot of the time non-intentionally. So I quickly got bored of it.

I played the PSP version which had like a plot and stuff and I played that from beginning to end but that had like set objectives and plot which is probably why I liked it.

I lovvvvved Medieval too  I wish we could have followed one person's life through rather than jumping from one to the other though!!
Ive recently gotten back into Sims4, I hadn't played for ages. I remember making Analei but getting v bored and ended up making her a vampire so every now and then she pops up

Im twenty generations in and my founding vampy sim is still skulking about.

I think I shared elsewhere around here that I tried to get into the Sims when it was the free PS Plus game a few months back.
I tried to make this woman just a total player, have lots of love interests, etc.
Ugh. It was impossible.
THEN there was a quest to host a dinner party - I could not figure out how to do any of the sub items for that objective.
So I gave up.

All this to say: twenty generations is very impressive to me.

honestly i think a lot of it is the writer in me. i love a story line and it’s always funny to come back and see it played out for me. sometimes i’ll write the storyline’s down too. i have too many notebooks

I recently got into Sims again (although I've been playing since Sim City and Sims 3). Can we talk about how the expansion packs are expensive now? Like $34 a pack. On Sims 3 I got all the packs because they're cheap but now I only have the base game for Sims 4, Get to Work, Dine In, Seasons and 2 kits. I'm into gardening and pretty much half of the fruits and vegetables are from 9 different expansion packs, 2 of them I already have. EA gotta bring them prices down.

I always wait for the 50% off sales on packs for this exact reason, it should be more affordable or at least have more content to justify the price x_x

I think if I bother to get on my Origin account I got really lucky and got the Sims 2 and all expansions for free when they had a free weekend for it once about a million years ago :r I did have 4 for a bit but all the expansions are really expensive, it's such a pain.

I should reinstall 2 though, it's a great depression game

Rn they have their sale on all (except their recent game pack the wedding one) but holy guacamole, I rest my case on the price of the expansion packs. They’re $40 🤡 $34 for the game packs. The stuff packs and kits, I think are $10 and $4.

But yea, y’all they have a sale rn 50% on expansion, 30% on game packs and 10% on stuff packs.

I want them cars to come back

I believe if you ever owned any Sims 2 disc and still have it, there's a system where you can send the product code to Origin and they just give you the entire Sims 2 collection for free - I did this a few years back and it wasn't part of any special event, it was just a thing you could do, but I have no idea if they're still running it or not. Worth looking into if anyone has old Sims 2 discs lying around though ;)
