Open Y36 Start of Year Feast

Being back at Hogwarts... felt odd. Normally coming to Hogwarts gave Rowan such a warm and welcoming feeling, but now, where that honey and cinnamon feeling would normally sit in her heart, was nothing by cold emptiness. The Great Hall once filled her with excitement and joy, but now only gave her a sense of doom and dread. She didn't want to be here. She didn't want to be with all these people. Seeing all the faces she remembered, and having to remember the one face she couldn't see. It was like she was bing forced to relive her most terrible memory live, because walking into the Great Hall for sorting had done nothing to calm her. All she could see was the memory of herself and Elsie bounding up the stairs excitedly to see where they were going to be place. She couldn't believe this was her life now. It felt like she wasn't really there at all, just floating above, and maybe she could have believed all of this was a terrible dream if it weren't for the pain she felt each time she tried to take a steadying breath. The only real reason she felt she was even still standing was because @Elio Zephyr steadfastly refused to let her go, which was sweet, and probably completely necessary to be honest. She sat at the table, but said nothing as new first years were sorted. She was vaguely aware of Gracie's name being called, but wasn't aware enough to notice what house she had gone to. She placed her head on the table, understanding somewhere in the back of her mind that she would soon have been face planting the food if she didn't move, but honestly she could not be bothered. She rather felt as though she would never move again. Even as hell broke loose above her, Rowan sat where she was, unable to find the strength to care enough about what was happening.

Reactions: Vex
Excellent.
Vex was looking very proud at his handy work, and seemed to slow down, hovering above the Gryffindor table. The students were having various, delightful reactions to his antics, but he was not done. The perfect compliment to raining slime, after all, was something soft, numerous and annoying that would stick to the slime, right? There had been small plumes of confetti from the miniature cannons when he first entered the Great Hall, and there was about to be so much more. He swerved across the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor tables in a twisting S shape, following up with a shower of confetti to try and cover as many students as possible, whether they had slime on them or not. It seemed the Ravenclaw and Slytherin students were left mostly unscathed by his antics this evening, as after showering confetti over all of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables, he flew out the door, a trail of confetti following behind him, and his maniacal cackles ringing through the halls of the castle.

Luxen had had entered the the start of term feast making sure to call out to @Mary Lou Prindeou on the way inside "You smell like a spell gone bad!" which was true after what had occured on the train. After that ridiculously long sorting, it seemed like the number of first years had tripled compared to the previous year. He wasn't surprised since many appeared to be related to each other. "I guess people forgot about birth control" Luxen said himself snidely thinking the world was already overpopulated with idiots and this bunch didn't seem like the brightest. After what felt like weeks, it was finally over which meant the Headmistress was finally able to tell them what they needed to know.

Suddenly as the food had appeared and Luxen was about to start eating, it seemed like a can chaos had been opened in the Great Hall. Luxen's eyes immediately noticed the cause of the trouble as the Slytherin table had received none of initial attack like the Gryffindor's and Hufflepuffs. He could only laugh loudly and point as the two nice houses were slimed by the ghost-like creature. Luxen of course knew that it wasn't a ghost and therefore was likely a poltergeist though he hadn't heard of one living within Hogwarts. He could only assume the annoying first years had brought him with them. This was probably the only good thing any of them would manage to accomplish throughout the year. "Go! Poltergeist!" Luxen cheered.

His eyes went towards the Hufflepuff table where he noticed Mary Lou had been slime all over her. The site literally caused Luxen to fall out of his seat clutching his sides from laughing so hard. He was actually having a hard time breathing since he couldn't remember the last time he'd seen something so glorious except perhaps earlier that day with his own work on the train. He could definitely appreciate this agent of chaos and made a note to seek him out and offer his assistance or anything else he required.

He managed to get back up onto his feet and smirk at the site of Mary Lou, "Hey Stankypuff! How is it you look better now that you match the way you smell?" Luxen called out with another laugh as he pointed at the Hufflepuff girl. Everyone was distracted by the slime fight that had broken out at the Gryffindor table, leave it to them to decide that it was fun to have gunk and confetti on their face. Making sure to take aim past any of the Ravenclaws, Luxen pointed his wand directly at the Hufflepuff table, particularly the part where Mary Lou was at "Everte Statum" Luxen called out. He didn't want any of them to simply hide under it and miss out on any of the fun after all. Perhaps if the Poltergeist saw that they were similar it would help his own chances in the future to avoid getting slime in the face.

Analei couldn't believe this was going to be her final sorting. After this, she would never see it again. It was so bittersweet. She was excited to leave school and get started on her real life, but the last seven years had been absolutely amazing. She tried not to get too emotional as the Headmistress spoke - there was nothing emotional about it. She managed to hold herself together, but let out a scream when the Great Hall erupted. Slime was flying everywhere along with confetti and it seemed Hufflepuff and Gryffindors were the only ones being attacked. If it hadn't been hufflepuff, she wouldn't have minded seeing Gryffindor being pranked, but when Zennon called out to her, she nodded her head, knowing she had a duty. Analei shot some shielding spells out to the students that obviously didn't want to get involved in the slime fight, though she had to admit, it looked like fun.
Analei's anger rose, however, when she saw a Slytherin boy yelling at a Hufflepuff girl, and then casting a spell towards the table. "Are you insane?!" Analei yelled, storming over to the poor people around the table, helping them up. There was no way this was going to fly, and Analei made a mental note of what the boy looked like so she could take it to his head of house.

Elio was more or less just playing the days by ear, never quite sure who he was going to have to explain the situation to or whether it was be a particularly good or bad day. He had sat beside Rowan, watching the sorting ceremony and clapped when his cousin made his house, although she hadn’t been the only Zephyr. He’d have to go and find them eventually but for now it was time for the feast. Honestly if Elio wasn’t a prefect he wouldn’t have stayed, he knew neither he nor Rowan could stand the sight of food right now, his own stomach much too knotted up. Elio was watching Ro as she moved to lie on the table, and was lightly stroking her back when the slime hit from above. It just went everywhere. What had seconds ago been peaceful was now completely chaos. Trying to see where it had come from, Elio looked up to see a ghost jumping around gleefully, but it was Analeis shouts that had him turn his attention to the students. Right, yes, he was a prefect. This was the sort of thing he was meant to help out with. Some kids were turning it into a game which was fair enough, but not everyone was enjoying it. He took out his wand, cleaning away the bits that had landed on him and Rowan, before looking further down the table to realise two tables of the four were now a mess. He turned to towards the youngest students, firing off spells to block the slime from the kids that clearly didn’t want a dousing, and cleaning off the slime in large chunks where he could. He’d have pulled Ro out there and then but with the badge on his chest, he had to compromise and do what he could from his position beside her.

Wendall had enjoyed seeing all the new first years come in, and was about to delve in a nice chicken drumstick, when all hell broke loose. Unfortunately for Wendall he didn’t realise this until he’d taken a bite out of his leg which unknowingly to him, was now covered in slime. It tasted funny. His eyes widened at what had suddenly landed around them, and he lent forward to spit the funny bit of chicken back out on his plate. Gross. In a matter of moments, it looked like half the school had started some kind of food fight, although as he looked across the tables towards Lysander he realised that his friend was just getting involved too instead of helping. He didn’t blame him, but Wendall didn’t really want to get his new robes dirty so fast. He caught sight of a girl running out the hall in yellow and figured it was a good start as any. Standing up he began to run after the girl, slipping on the slime in the process and face planting the floor. He thought it was just another ordinary fall until he looked down to see the little pool of blood on the stone, and with his tongue managed to realise he’d just bitten his lips incredibly hard as his chin made contact with the stone floor. Ugh, this was not a good start to the year.

Skylar had waited long enough. Seeing that chaos was rapidly ensuing, she was eager to redeem herself from her earier bout of cowardness so she did what she saw many others doing. "Food fight!!!" she yelled! The food was covered in slime which made it double the fun, she grabbed a chicken wing and chucked it at a random Gryffindor, who she couldn't remember the name of. Then, seeing her friend from the train @Harper Alston she decided to throw something at her too, it would be fun! Finding a piece of pie, (she thought that would splatter well) she threw it, hoping Harper wouldn't be too mad at her if it hit it's target, but it was all in good fun really.

Oooh, she suddenly had another idea! Grabbing the bowl of mashed potato, she scooped a bit up into her hand, molded it into a ball and threw it with all her might at a passing prefect. She knew it most certainly wasn't the best idea, as she was probably bound to get punished for it, but in the spur of the moment she had decided to go for it, she'd deal with the punishments later, and had to stifle a laugh after throwing it, trying to not get caught as the one who threw it. Grabbing another handful of mashed potato, and quickly moulding it into a snowball shape again, she chucked it across the hall towards the Slytherin table, which looked largely unscathed, and she jumped up gleefully and whooped in joy.

This day was turning out to be a lot better than she'd expected! If this was what Hogwarts was like normally, she couldn't wait for the next 7 years!

Agnes felt so out of place. She was still here at Hogwarts but it had been Elsie that had always flourished. Now she just had a few people that were Elsie’s friends and family and she couldn’t hardly show her face to them knowing she was a reminder. She sat quietly by herself at the Slytherin table, not even looking up to see who was joining the house this year. Up ahead there was a little commotion, but it was Zennon that caused Agnes to see what was going on. She cast her eyes to the other two tables to see them covered in goo, spells suddenly being thrown around left right and centre. She was a prefect but what was she meant to do about it? She would have quite happily sat back to watch this unfold, she had no reason to get involved. That was until she saw someone from her house make the situation even worse with a stronger banishing spell. Agnes rolled her eyes, wondering if some people had nothing better to do than five minutes of making someone’s start of the year more of a mess. She saw a potato snowball hit Elio and then another hit the rude Slytherin boy, but really it wasn’t like anyone was getting hurt. Agnes sat there unmoving, trying to think what Elsie would do in this situation, she was always good at knowing what to do. Maybe that was what Agnes was good for though, being the outsider. She’d be there to pick up the pieces, not make it worse. If someone got potato in the eye, then it was her time to shine. She took out her wand, keeping her eye on the Head Boy and one of the only people she even remotely trusted, just in case she did have to do something.

Elio had never been hit in the face with flying potato before, but that’s what happened as he faced the youngest Gryffindors and saw it much too late to do anything about it. Clearly he needed more duelling training. He used his free hand to wipe of most of it, cursing under his breath because it had gotten into his hair, and no one knew just how much work went into that. He hasn’t seen which student it had come from, although figured as prefect he was bound to be a target. It had been years since there’d been some kind of food fight. He was nervous too of his camera that still sat on the table. So far it hadn’t made contact with anything but it was fortunate and wouldn’t last for too long. “Gryffindors who do not want to be here, follow me!” He called out in an attempt to get those who were happy with the current state of their robes and belongings out of them. He tried to wave down @Willow Cullen @Vader Hume and @Mazikeen Roe as well as @Kace Corelli and @Cyzarine Haden in the hopes of herding some of their lions to safety. He bent down to Rowan, “Come on, let’s get out of here,” he offered, his priority was still to make sure she got out too.

Luxen was very much enjoying the state of things though he was sure he'd likely get in trouble later for his own part in adding to the chaos despite the Gryffindor's seemingly taking more advantage than he was. He didn't noticed the flying mash potatoes coming towards him as it splat right into his face though he quickly wiped it off and tried to make a note of whoever threw it. He wasn't able too but figured it had to have been one of the first years. He figured it had to have come from the Hufflepuff table since the Slytherin table was likely too far for a Gryffindor to throw, their tables were at the opposite ends of the great hall after all and they would have had to have incredible luck and aim to make it past both Hufflepuff's and Ravenclaw's who were currently moving about in order to hit him.

He decided to duck under the table and see how the rest of the situation played out and use the Protego charm if needed since it was likely the Gryffindor's weren't planning on stopping the food fight anytime soon. He didn't need to add anymore since he'd already gotten what he wanted for the most part and was happy to just hear the noises and screams. It almost sounded like a lullaby to him and he figured he would be able to sleep well on his first night back at the school. Though he did make a mental note to ask the Head boy about the Poltergeist since he rather enjoyed his style more than anyone else he'd met in the school so far.

Lois had barely gotten settled at the table when everything seemed to go crazy around her, before she knew it someone was even shouting out 'Food Fight!' which definitely got her heart pumping. She ignored the older boy informing the students to follow him and instead began grabbing as much food in front of her and throwing it in every direction she could not quite sure who she would hit in the process though she did have a particular target in mind. She saw that Lucy's table hadn't really been effected by the ghost thing's assault's but that the table where Lenora was sitting was particularly vulnerable as she grabbed some goop and mixed it with some food and some confetti and hurled it towards her's sister as hard as she could. She laughed loudly as she saw it hit the back of her head, ignoring the fact that she herself had gotten quite messy from everything that was happening around her. "This is fun!" Lois shouted, she was actually glad she was at the school now.

Edward had actually been about to fall asleep after all the sorting had been finished since it seemed to have taken much longer than his own year had. That quickly changed after the Headmistress gave her speech and the food arrived as what he assumed to be a Poltergeist began attacking. He hadn't seen anything like it the year prior and wondered where the thing had been hiding all year as he quickly found himself covered in slime. Before long a food fight had broken out though he did notice one of the Hufflepuff tables get knocked back from a spell and quickly got to his feet. "Everyone should just calm down!" he tried to say but for his words he simply got food thrown into his face which stuck to the slime like glue.

He decided to try and follow the Prefect's lead and use the Protego charm to shield a few of the other students that seemed to want to get the heck out of the Great Hall. He was already wounded in action but it didn't mean he couldn't help stop others from meeting the same fate. "Go! follow him @Elio Zephyr I'll cover you!" he shouted towards a few of the fellow students however it didn't seem like many of the first years were interested in the assistance he offered as more food ended up on his robes.

Lenora was soo happy to not be in the same house as Lois and Lucy and had been enjoying the food that had suddenly appeared before her eyes when everything turned to yuck! She had avoided being hit with slime but unfortunately when the table had been flipped it had caused her to fall backwards and out of her seat. "Ow!" she cried though she wasn't really hurt. She stood up and quickly ducked as suddenly the Gryffindor's had started a food fight. "This is not nice! I'm telling!" she shouted out loud as she suddenly felt something horrible hit the back of her head. With her hand trembling she felt the most disgusting thing she could ever imagine in her hair and couldn't stop herself. "WAAAH! WAAAH! WHY!?" she cried out loud as she fell to her knees and simply began bawling. More food ended up on her but she was too distraught to notice. She wanted to go home right now and wished her mother was around to stop all of this!

Lucille was fortunate that she was in a different house from Lenora and had expected that she might be separated from Lois though she didn't enjoy that part. She had listened to the Headmistress speak and found the lecture quite curious. Why was the forest off limits and not magically shielded to prevent students from entering without supervision? Why were the House Elves possibly treated as slaves? Would she get in serious trouble if she used them for 'other' purposes? Lucille thought but as the food arrived on the table she decided it was best to enjoy the food instead of thinking too much on these things. As the absolute chaos unfolded around her even as a ball of mash potatoes flew past her head. She simply blocked it out the best she could though smirked when she clearly heard Lenora scream and cry. Instead she looked around the table and began fixing herself a plate, she was after all hungry and didn't like the idea of going to bed hungry.

Melus was excited, but calmer than before the distribution. He got into the house he longed for so much and it had a good effect on him. He found the vault of the room wonderful as it had been conjured up like the sky and then just wanted to start eating, but something disturbed him. Suddenly he couldn't even comprehend what it was because something mud-like surprised him and then confetri stuck to it. He heard up close that it was just the spirit of the castle that had returned after seven years. When he realized that his ticket was meant to be a joke, he softened and started laughing. "I knew I was coming to wizarding school but I didn't think I would be so surprised so soon" she saids.

Anna was surprised about being Gryffindor and she was looking for other students, she didn't know anyone that was sorted to Gryffindor. Elisa in Hufflepuff, Zach, Cassiah and Klaus in Ravenclaw, Perseus, Marlow and Penny in Slytherin, she didn't even realize that Marlee is sorted in Gryffindor too so actually she thought it wasn't the best way to start new school without friends around but situation get better. Someone throw slime on Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables and Anna was in the best place, she was fully covered in slime. She wiped it off her face, laughed and throw something. She didn't even realize she throw slime or potatoes that was right in front of her. She understood that it was potato only when she saw that on someone and giggled. She was active in food fight.

Jacob couldn't believe it. His last start of year feast. The seventeen years old listened to Professor Alicastell as he hadn't in several years, knowing this would be the last time he'd hear the warning about the forest and the familiar introductions of the Heads of House. The young man had enjoyed the sorting ceremony as well, clapping for each new Gryffindor. His sister had ended up in Slytherin like Noah, and making him the only Gryffindor. He felt a little smug about that fact.

As the feast began, Jacob reached for food quickly. He hadn't eaten since breakfast so the first thing he ended up with, some chicken, went quickly into his mouth. Luckily. Soon after, slime began seemingly raining from the sky. Jacob let out a curse word as he reached for his plate and used it to cover his hair. He did not want slime in it. The younger students were going mad, a slime fight soon starting and Jacob was just doing his best to keep his hair from getting slimed. That was to no avail as a huge glob of it hit him just as the confetti began to rain down. "Who did it??" he yelled, looking angrily down the table in the direction the glob had come from.

Well, Flynn certainly hadn't thought that his first throw a slime would bring about such chaos. But he certainly wasn't complaining about it, this was all such fun and he was grinning somewhat, lunging across the table to grab a plate to try and use as a sort of shield. "It's supposed to be a slime fight, not a food fight!" He yelled down the table when he saw chicken and mashed potatoes start to go flying. What a horrible waste of good food. And as if to help matters, that ghost from earlier was now flying around throwing confetti around as well. While he was a fan of chaos, maybe this was just a little too much of it for his liking. No doubt they were all going to get into serious trouble for this and Flynn didn't exactly want detention on the first night.

So, he did the smartest thing he could think of, trying to block any slime, confetti, and food which happened to come in his direction with his trusty plate as he simply tried to avoid the chaos he practically started.

Emma had been delighted when Vex showed up and started showering everyone in slime. She couldn't help laughing at the chaos unfolding around them. Thankfully, Emma wasn't squeamish, so she didn't mind the slime too much. Especially not when she saw Amari was hit in the face, and screamed. Through her fit of giggles, she didn't notice that Amari threw a handful of slime back at her. She yelped as it hit her on the head, covering her hair. But rather than worry about it, she scooped up as much as she could from her head and threw it back at Amari, grinning as she saw that Lysander did the same thing. "Take that!" She yelled at the snobby girl. The confetti was also pretty good, and she couldn't stop giggling. This was hilarious! Emma was oblivious to the chaos happening at other house tables, focusing only on the Gryffindors and the fun they were having. She hoped she could throw something else at Amari.

@Amari Kent @Lysander Summers

Covered in slime and confetti and far too happy about it, Flynn already felt right at home, He had the suspicion that his father sent him here so that they didn't have to put up with his antics any longer, and Flynn had been annoyed by that, but if this was the sort of stuff he could get up to whilst at school... well, maybe it wasn't such a bad place after all. Slime was in his hair, all over his robes and his hands were covered in it, but he didn't stop throwing slime until he heard an older student getting upset about it. Looking up the table, he realised that the guy was huge, p!ssed, and Flynn was potentially the one that had hit @Jacob Kingsley with slime, though he couldn't be sure (and quite frankly, he hoped that guy couldn't be sure, either). It had been great, but he knew when he was licked, so he decided to duck out of this slimfest whilst he still had time. He had a glob of slime still in his hands, so when he started dashing out the Great Hall, he bypassed the Hufflepuff table and wiped it on @Chrysander Kaster's head, before leaving the Great Hall. His big brother was probably going to throw some slime back at him if he were fast enough, but with how much slime the third year was already wearing, he doubted he would notice.

Professot Kalif Styx had a rather uneventful holiday, which was better for him. It meant that he could start off in a little bit of a better mood, but that was shot when he heard the damned poltergeist come through, sliming absolutely everyone. Though, the creature seemed to stay away from the Ravenclaws and Slytherins, which was surprising to him. He was about to ignore it since it seemed that his students were staying calm, except for one. It was not hard to figure out who shot that spell directly at Hufflepuffs. Professor Styx got up from his seat and walked over to the Slytherin table, stopping short of who was responsible. "Silverback. Get up here, now," ordered the Slytherin Head of House as he wandlessly cast repello around himself and the Slytherin table, just in case someone's aim toward this table was spot on.
@Luxen Silverback II

Thus far, Harper had largely managed to avoid being hit by additional slime. An errant glob had been tossed her way, but she batted it down easily with her bread basket. She was so focused on dodging other bits of slime and protecting her face, that she didn't notice one of her table-mates chuck a piece of pie until it was too late. Bits of pie splattered across her chest, and Harper looked up in shock to see it was Skylar, a girl she'd met on the train and someone she had thought was her friend. "Betrayal!" cried Harper. She wiped off the pie as best she could with her already ruined sleeve. Well, at least her clothes underneath her robe were still clean. "You're going to regret that!" Harper grinned and lobbed one of the slime-covered bread rolls she'd dumped out of her basket toward Skylar. With her left hand, she held up the basket to defend herself. Now how would she get out of this mess? Some of the older kids were creating what looked to be magical barriers and others were fleeing, but Harper could see that it would be near impossible to rush out completely unscathed. No, she was safer staying where she was and trying to defend herself. The ghost made another pass over their table, dumping confetti as it did so. Harper didn't mind the confetti nearly as much as the slime; if anything, it made everything a lot more festive.

@Skylar Anderson

Professor Bryce Chamberlin could say that he enjoyed the sorting and the feast, thanks to a little notebook that he had, along with Beau, to help them with their missing hearing. He could see some unfamiliar names, and some familiar last names. He did wonder if any of his peers from way back when would have their kids attending yet. He wasn't sure, but he did know that several no longer had their maiden name, so there was that. After the feast began, Bryce started to dig in, since his stomach was feeling a little funny, and empty. He looked down at his little notebook and noticed that there was a bunch of what he could decipher as screaming. He glanced up to see the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff table in absolute chaos, and saw as a poltergeist just soared away, leaving behind confetti. Professor Chamberlin could not help it, but he just started to howl with laughter. Oh, what a terrific start to a new year!

Luxen heard his head of house call his name but deliberately ignored the hypocrite. It was only last year he had physically witnessesed Luxen get assaulted and possibly suffer permeant brain damage and chosen to ignore it. Now he wanted to judge a student for their actions and unsurprisingly only him. Luxen decided that since the Professor's were going to treat him differently from his peers, who were literally causing chaos all around that he would make it worth it. If they had thought he was mean before then they were in for an awakening. What was the worse that could happen, sure he'd be expelled. If so then he would simply find a someone to teach him or use his books to study on his own. He was going to be free and not bound to their ridiculous double standards no longer.

Skylar was having the time of her life here, throwng food on all sides. When some hit their targets she was overjoyed, although she got payback when @Harper Alston threw what looked like a slime-covered bread roll in her direction, which landed splat across her face. Luckily it was soft, so didn't hurt, but it was completely covered in slime, so she wiped her face with the back of her hand and grinned at her friend. Her previous worries to do with her hair were gone from her mind and she instead just enjoyed the thrill of laughing and having fun with her new housemates. She saw some people shielding themselves but she figured this kind of opportunity wouldn't present itself again, so she should make the most of it, and besides, magic existed, right? She was sure someone would eventually be able to come and clean up their clothes, and she could always wash the slime out of her hair later. Instead, for now she'd just have fun and enjoy her first ever food fight. Picking up some more pie, she tossed it randomly, no longer caring who it hit, and overjoyed to be making mischief again.
