Open Y36 Start of Year Feast

Professor Styx was not sure if the boy was deaf, stupid, or just plain defiant. He knew it wasn't the first, since he only knew of two deaf people in the school, and they were father and son. Kalif sighed, and made sure that his gloves were tight on his hands. 'I am getting too old for this bullsh*t.' While his mind was reeling with possible punishments that would be utterly delightful, even Mr. Filch from Hogwarts Scotland would giggle with glee, the Slytherin Head of House bent down and grabbed the kid by the collar of his robes, and dragged him out from under the table. "What a perfect way to start a new year. Taking off fifty points for deliberately ignoring your superior, and starting off with a detention. First day of school, Silverback." It had been far too long since Professor Styx was able to really punish a student, and one could tell that he was almost enjoying the challenge, with a cold smirk on his lips.

The chaos seemed only to multiple as Mary Lou looked around, not even realising what was happening until she was hit with something and felt as though she'd been shot. She flew backwards into someone or something, she wasn't sure, but she had a terrible feeling the spell had come from someone at the Slytherin table, because she couldn't think of who else would want to hit her with a spell. She was smelly, covered in slime and confetti and now she was lying on the floor as though she was nothing. Well, this was an amazing start to the year, if she did say so herself. Someone came to her aid and she looked to see @Analei Louw was trying to help her. She took the girls hand to stand, rubbing the tears out of her eyes as she did so.

Chase had mostly been minding his own business following the headmistresses opening speech so he didn't see how the chaos started, he just knew that one moment all was calm, or as calm as the start of year feast usually was and suddenly all hell broke loose and a full on food fight had began. Chase noticed the school poltergeist hanging around and suspected he had something to do with it. As the chaos around him escalated, Chase had no interest in getting involved so decided he would leave but as he made his way out he spotted a familiar face on the floor. "Wendall!" Chase looked around for someone older, a teacher would be better but he only managed to spot Zennon the head boy, he'd have to do. "Someone needs help," He said once he managed to get the head boy's attention and proceeded to go over to the Hufflepuff boy. "Wendall, why do I always find you on the floor,"

@Zennon Baros

Zennon had spent a couple of minutes rounding up the prefects to help and kept his eyes on his siblings and Elio and Agnes too. He hoped they had the good sense to stay out of the thick of it. He heard someone calling for help and looked to see a younger Ravenclaw with a Hufflepuff who appeared to be on the ground. Frowning at what that could mean, Zennon quickly headed over, seeing he Hufflepuff covered in blood. "Oh, heck," Zennon had learned one of the healing charms from Lucius earlier and so he looked at the Hufflepuff to see what the damage is. "Alright, we best get this cleaned up," he said, casting a quick tergeo. "Can you stand? I can't see how bad it is until I can see your whole face."

@Wendall Layton

The nice taste of Wendalls dinner was replaced with the taste of warm metal, and he tentatively licked his lips which was an immediate mistake. Why was he always so clumsy? Surely he would have grown out of that by now. He looked up to see Chase and more or less let him man handle him until he was stood beside his friend, wincing at the state of his face. There was blood on the floor, his robes and his face and he could feel it sticky every time he moved a muscle. “Hi,” he managed to get out, before he turned to see that Chase had also managed to summon the Head Boy. Good grief. He peered up at Zennon, hoping that Leda was right about him and that he could be trusted, although the frown on Wendalls face still made it obvious that he doubted the boy. What if he made it even worse?

The chaos in the room was just getting worse, although she did spot her Head of House grab one of the boys that was directly making things more difficult which helped the rest of them. She still had her eyes on Zennon, watching as he headed across to the middle of the hall to help another kid who seemed to have been punched straight in the mouth, although Aggie wasn’t sure how she’d managed to miss that. “I can take him if you want,” she said, sliding across to the trio and looking up to Zennon. They both worked at the hospital wing after all, and as Head Boy Zennon had more reason than she did to stay. “Are you okay?” She asked, turning to the third boy to see if he’d been injured as well, and hoping that there wouldn’t be a huge queue on the way to the medical area.

It was chaos. Elysia didn't mind chaos. Welcomed it even. She didn't really fancy staying still nor the quiet. The world was awesome when there was some form of chaos. So when the boring speech was over and slime was everywhere - including on her after the ... thing had passed right by her - and a slime fight had begun, Elysia was calm. Grinning even as she watched the chaos. Well, the grin abruptly disappeared when she spotted @Mary Lou Prindeou trying to get away from the madness, covered in slime. She understood that her friend was different of course even though they looked the same. While Elysia herself was slimed, she didn't really care all that much, but Mary Lou was obviously not. She had been about to go to follow her friend until someone fired a spell at her friend. Well that was just an unacceptable! Ely could handle chaos, but not malice. Running towards her friend who was being helped by the Head Girl, Elysia tried to look Mary Lou over all the slime just to see if her friend had been injured. "ML! Are you alright?! Do you wanna go back up to the dorms?" Elysia was near fussing really now that the Slytherin boy was off being dragged by Professor Styx. Maybe'd she'd get her revenge later. Mary Lou came first.

Everything seemed a bit out of control with ghosts doing crazy stuff after the sorting ceremony came to a close. Alexis wasn't scared easy but it was amusing seeing what was happening. Her cat had long passed left because it didn't like noise all that much. If this was the beginning of the year Alexis wondered what the rest of it would be like. She felt a little perplexed as to whether or not she should join in. This wasn't really what she was expecting. She saw a boy bleeding and another boy helping and decided that was more something she wouldn't mind involving herself in. "Ammm hi is he okay? Do you need help?" She asked the older boy with a smile.

@Zennon Baros @Wendall Layton

As the Hufflepuff stood, Zennon realised who it was and sighed. He should have known it would be Wendall. He'd spent some time with Leda over the winter break and that had given him some of a glimpse into the tragic clumsiness that seemed to define the boy. "Alright, hold still," he said, carefully looking at the younger boys face carefully. He looked like he might have taken a bit of flesh out of his chin and that perhaps his teeth had gone through his lip. Painful, but easily fixed, though it would take more than a quick spell. "Alright, this is going to need some paste. A spell won't fix this. Do you want to take him down to the Hospital Wing? I'll come down later incase there's no nurse on staff. I think I know where the potion for his is kept." he said, looking over at Agnes. "Get him some ice too, yeah?" He asked, her, placing a hand softly on her shoulder before heading back into he fray.

Everything was happening at once and Chrys wasn't quite sure what to do about it. Honestly he loved a bit of chaos, but not this early in the game. "Was that a f*cking poltergeist?!" He asked, turning to whoever he could see to be sure. After all, poltergeists weren't exactly common and knowing the school had one was pretty cool. He'd heard rumours about a poltergeist, mostly from his Uncle's stories, but this was nuts. "That's amazing!" Well, it was amazing until Chrys was slimed by his brother @Flynn Kaster as he was running past. "Flynn! Get back here you little sh!t!" He called, chasing his bother across the hall. "MY HAIR!"

Artemisa didn't know what to make of what just happened. One moment she was reaching out for potatoes and the next she was covered in... something. It seemed like slime but she couldn't be sure. It definitely wasn't like the slime she used to use on pranks with Feli. Nope. Definitely not. And well, this was certainly new. She wasn't disgusted. More of surprised that this actually happened. And that a poltergeist was at the school. Well, it was definitely going to be an eventful year. It wasn't long before a slime fight began at her table and she had to grin. Thank Merlin that her housemates enjoyed stuff like this as well. Looking over at the other tables though, she found that the Slytherin and Ravenclaw tables weren't entirely in the same boat. Well that's no fun. "Slime everywheeeeeeere!" she yelled before throwing slime over at the Ravenclaw table and running over there in search of her dear twin. They were supposed to be identical after all. Coco definitely needed a hug.

Agnes watched on the side as Zennon checked the kid over, and listened as he reckoned he did need to head to the hospital wing. She knew better than most that not everything could be fixed with a spell, sometimes it took a potion too and a little time. She looked up to her friend, nodding once to acknowledge his plan, and hoping that once she got this kid there that she’d be able to find what it was he thought would help. She had a vague idea herself but finding it was another issue altogether. “Alright, come on, we’ll find something to fix that up,” she said, grabbing a wad of napkins from the nearby Hufflepuff table that wasn’t covered in slime and offering it to the student to protect more of his chin and robes from getting a dousing. “Yeah, I’ll meet you down there,” she added to Zennon, just before another girl joined them, “It’s fine, we work at the hospital wing. Just.. try not to add to the work load, yeah?” she shot to the Slytherin girl in the hopes that no one else would be sent there for one day, before shuffling the younger boy and his friend toward the door.

The last thing Katherine expected to interrupt the feast was the reemergence of Vex, after all this time locked away. The woman sighed, continuing on with her own dinner while the poltergeist wreaked havoc on the students. This was fine, for now. A start to the year most would not soon forget, and many appeared to be enjoying. But of course, it wasn't long before things got out of hand, and as spells started flying and first-years were bawling, the woman pushed back her chair and rose to her feet, withdrawing her wand from her robes to amplify her voice. "That is enough." She boomed across the hall, to interrupt the chaos that had unfolded. "You are all to return to your seats, or find a prefect to escort you to your dorms early. I will not see another piece of slime, food, or a spell thrown in this hall." She warned, letting it linger to see if anyone would challenge her, before continuing. "In a few minutes your meals will be replaced, and dessert will be cut short. You will enjoy the rest of your feast in a civilised manner, or you can join the kitchen staff in cleaning up slime and food. I hope I've made myself perfectly clear." She finished, before taking her seat to resume eating her own meal. Barely moments later, the tables were cleared of food and slime, vanishing to be replaced by the few backups the elves had managed to magically duplicate amidst the mess.

Chase was glad that not only did Zennon follow him over to Wendall they were soon joined by another prefect, both it seemed worked at the hospital wing which was handy. After it was determined Wendall would indeed need to go to the hospital wing as his teeth had pierced his lip, Chase hoped he wouldn't be made to abandon his friend. "I'm fine thanks, do you mind if I go with him? He kind of has a habit of falling into situations like this,"

Wendall listened as Zennon and another girl talked about him as though he wasn’t really there, and he appreciated the fact Chase was still standing beside him. The third year had a bit of trouble talking but as Chase asked if he could tag along, Wendall was pleased to see the girl nod in agreement. He hated going to the hospital wing, it may of well been his second home at this rate. He took the tissues and dabbed at his lip but it was almost more painful to do so. On the way out, Wendall was vaguely aware of the Headmistress saying something to the group and the Hufflepuff quickened his pace so that their presence wouldn’t interrupt what she was saying.

This was definitely an interesting start to a welcome feast, Cami thought, as she noted her cousin doing whatever it was he was doing. She appreciated that he'd tried to protect the Gryffindor table as much as possible, thought it was pretty clear he'd not done a very good job given she had a pocket of slime on her shoulder and in her hair. "Well, that was exciting," she said, as the Headmistress called the room to order and it was like the whole room reset. Did she have to sit there with slime in her hair now that the place had been shut down of entertainment? She frowned, running her fingers through her hair as a glob came out onto her fingers. "Ewwwwwwwwww!"

And just like that, the fun was over. Shame. The glob of slime Land had in his hand that he was about to throw, disappeared, and he looked down at the food as it also disappeared to be replaced with more food. The tables were cleaned and the slime removed, though the students themselves remained slimed and dirty. Land was covered in it himself, having been involved in the slime fight early on and sat down sadly. His fun ruined. He glanced around the hall for his cousin @Acre Zephyr but couldn't see her with all the people moving about. He pulled a plate of chicken towards himself and just hoped that tomorrow would be more exciting.

Acre had been enjoying the drama that was the feast although she didn’t know if this was always the case. She’d taken the chance to zap across to the Gryffindor table where Land was sat, oblivious to fact that she’d been slowly creeping up to him with a handful of slime that she’d managed to collect on her way over. Just because this table got the biggest hit didn’t mean they were allowed all the fun. Just as she came up behind the boy though, the Headmistress began to speak and she knew it was now or never. She slapped the slime as hard as she could into the back of his head, although as her hand made contact she realised the slime had disappeared entirely, and under her fingers was just his hair. Oh how boring. “COME ON I WAS SO CLOSE!” she called out, no regard to how loud she was shouting behind her cousins ears.

Luna couldn't believe what had happened, how it had escalated so quickly and all because Vex had been feeling mischievous. Once the food fight had begun she had managed to dodge most of what was thrown around but did get a dollop of mashed potato to the face which she didn't appreciate. Luna did her best to control the rabble along with the other prefects but she knew they were facing a losing battle as most of the students in the great hall had joined in the chaos. It took the Headmistress to stand up and get everyone back under control for the situation to finally calm down. Suddenly not in the mood for desert, Luna helped ensure things were calmer and that everyone was back in their seats before she made an early exit back to the common room.

Aisling took the piece of bread from @Nikola Raven and bit into it. “Thanks,” she said, grimacing as she watched Gryffindor table emerge into chaos. Food, slime and confetti was everywhere and older students, whom she assumed were prefects, were running around yelling and attempting to stop the kids who were engaged in a pretty violent food fight. She turned back to the boy hiding under the table with her. “So, pretty interesting way to meet,” she said dryly. “I’m Aisling. What’s your name?” She waited for his reply. “Well, nice to meet you. How long do you reckon this is going to go on for-?” Aisling was cut off as the headmistress rose from her seat and addressed them. Finally, the chaos was cut short and Aisling got up to sit back down at her table. The slime and food had all disappeared and the only remained of the slime/food fight were the disappointed students.

Skylar had been just about to throw another giant ball of mashed potato at one of the professors (they deserved to get involved in the fun as well!) when the Headmistress started speaking and calling for quiet. Disappointed, Skylar sat down with a huff, not at all pleased to have had her fun cut short. She contemplated throwing the remaining piece of slime at someone, just to finish on a high note, but something in the Headmistress's voice made her rethink that idea, and instead let go of the slime and let it drop it back onto the table, where it promptly disappeared and was replaced with new food, none of which was thankfully covered in slime. As the Headmistress told everyone they could choose whether or not to go back to their dorms or stay and finish the feast in a 'civilised manner', Skylar immediately chose to stay and eat, clinging onto the hope that some rebellious student would restart the food fight and she could enjoy it again, though it seemed unlikely. Instead helping herself to some new food, she began eating again, and looked around the table to see who was left and the state they were in. Looking over at some of the other first year Gryffindor girls she smiled at them, and giggled at the sight of the pie still splashed across @Harper Alston chest, knowing they'd laugh about it all over again later this evening.
One thing was for sure, this was a feast no one would forget anytime soon.

Felicita just wanted to go up to the Ravenclaw dorms and get some sleep, but dinner - especially the Start of Year Feast - had been really tempting. So tempting that she had given in, seated herself beside Lauden and waited through the long sorting and the Headmistress' speech. It didn't take long though before a poltergeist had slammed into the room and everything had exploded into chaos. Literally. Chaos that Feli just wanted to avoid because she was hungry and tired and Oh Merlin she just heard her twin. It didn't take long to see Chia covered in slime and on her way to the Ravenclaw table. Feli was definitely not dealing with slime tonight. She had just grabbed @Lauden Zhefarovich by the arm and was well-prepared to drag him down under the table before the Headmistress herself had begun yelling. Well, at least she was probably safe from the slime for now. "I just want food," she groaned out finally letting go of her companion to bury her face in her hands. It seemed like forever before the food arrived but at least it did. She hoped the poltergeist would let them eat before causing havoc again.

Amari screamed as a few more slime goops hit her, she couldn't believe the girl had the nerve to throw some more. Amari went to throw some back when the Headmistress quietened the Hall and got rid of the slime. With a huff, Amari stood up and stalked away, following the Prefects back to the Common Room.

Absolute madness was breaking out in the Hall, and Analei looked around for the Puff prefects to come help her. The young Hufflepuff that Analei was helping up had tears in her eyes, and Analei brushed some dirt off of her. "Shhh, it's okay." Analei said softly, rubbing the girl's arm. Another girl arrived, and seemed to know her, and Analei nodded. "Why don't you go back to the Common Room? I'll come see if you're okay later." Analei said to her, thanking the other girl, before turning around to see if there was any one else to help. Thankfully, the Headmistress stood up and calmed the chaos. Analei breathed out a sigh of relief, also incredibly thankful to see Professor Styx grabbing the mean Slytherin boy who had cast the spell. She smiled at Zennon who had helped a younger boy who had fallen over as well, proud of their team work.

@Mary Lou Prindeou @Elysia Freecss

He had thought that his uncle's home was a madhouse, but he was going to have to write each of his cousins an apology after this, because this was a madhouse. He could even hear one of his cousin's screaming in the background, and though it would be fairly easy to deny any relationship with @Artemisa Raven, it was still embarrassing and stained his cheeks nonetheless. "Yeah," he agreed, his eyebrows raising. His father would eventually ask him who he met and how, and he was sure the most interesting answer would certainly be that he met @Aisling Sullivan whilst they hid under the Ravenclaw dining table from a rampaging poltergeist and a far too excitable Gryffindor cohort. "Aisling," he repeated, almost mispronouncing the end tone to a 'eh' due to struggling to hear her clearly over the chaos and his accent-tendency to under-emphasise 'g' sounds. "Nikola," he replied. They were interrupted by the Headmistress' announcement and further instructions which, but this point in the evening, was a relief. "Thank Merlin," he muttered, giving Aisling a smile before getting out from under the table and putting the bread back on top. What a waste of food, and after all of that excitement, he wasn't sure if he was hungry.
