Welcome to the latest update! We have A LOT going on right now on site, and it's all so exciting!! Fair warning though- this is a long one!!
Sorting
Sorting will be open until the end of the week! Tell your friends.
Week 1
Today is the start of the term. Please check the gradebook for your schedules and which classes you have. Third years and up should remember that you must sign up for your courses. First and second years are automatically enrolled.
Professors
First, I'd like to welcome our newest professors- Professor Hezekiah Mowry, Professor Octavia Pourroulis, and Professor Hamish Kaster. Professors, remember to let us know if you need any help grading or posting lessons. We know that there are a lot of first years and some of you will have really big classes, and we are happy to help if you need it! Especially if you just want a little extra hand to grade some of the possibly massive first year classes.
New Headperson and Prefects
Congratulations to our newest head people and prefects!
Analei Louw
Zennon Baros
Cyzarine Haden
Kace Correlli
Selene Le Fey
Lars van Houten
Jigoku Arai
Agnieszka Norgaard
Elliot Briar
Bada Yeong
Shopkeeper Needed
Interested in being a shopkeeper?? The Mākutu Dinette is in need of a shopkeeper. Please check here for the application!
Quidditch Tryouts
All teams currently have quidditch tryouts open for second through seven years. Get your tryouts in while possible.
Shopping
All shopping areas will close around Wednesday/Thursday this week. Finish any threads you might need to finish! We would also like to take a moment to give our shopkeepers and assistants a huge shout out for all of their really hard work over the last few weeks - there has been an incredible flow of students and demand for those quick rapid fire topics, for answering questions - and we just want to show you our appreciation! Thank you for everything you do!
Whew! I think that's all for now. Thanks for sticking with me until the end!

Site Calendar
Our site calendar has been updated through this IC year.
Character biographies and spotlight
As many of you know, we like to feature a well developed character each month as a way to recognize the hard work you put into your character. We will not be spotlighting a character this month because of the birthday celebrations, but stay tuned for June! Work on your biographies for a chance to be featured next month. Please go read new member/character bios and give them some love!! Remember that certain traits or background points must be applied for. If you find odd information or things that might need approved that there's no harm in reporting it - we might be on top of 90% of things but we still need to know about the other 10%.
Cultural Awareness
Please remember to be respectful and mindful of cultural differences on site. Any lack of respect isn't tolerated here.
Messaging Admin and GMs
Please remember to only pm one purple at a time. We've been having some duplicate messages sent to multiple members of site staff. Please be patient with us and know that we will get back to you as soon as possible. It is not helpful- nor should you- send multiple messages to different members of site staff about the same issue.
Profile Posts
A great part of this new version of the site, is the addition of the profile posts. It's a really fun section to be able to keep up to date with everyone's drama. We understand there has been some confusion about where it "sits" on the site and since it is the beginning of a new term we have decided to issue some guidance on the matter; the profile posts are separate to the site and anything mentioned on them does not affect the canon of the site (though they should of course adhere to the site rules), unless they are connected to a topic on the site.
For example if Character A posts about being bored in the library and deciding to throw books about and there's a linked thread, then they can be punished IC for it, but could not be punished for it if there was no thread attached (because it just didn't happen, canonically, without a roleplay on the board).
Another example is Character B & C having an argument via profile posts, Professor A could jump into the profile posts and tell them off but could not take points/issue punishment, unless there was then a thread where this was actually taking place. If character B says something particularly harsh and against the rules it can be reported for moderation but they would not lose points for it (as it's not a canon IC interaction).
Avatars
The quality of the avatars in posts has been fixed. Thanks, Nick!
