Welcome to White Elephant!! Welcome to the White Elephant Gift Exchange! It also goes by a few other names- Yankee Swap, Dirty Santa, Steal-a-thon, etc.
For those of you who don't know, a White Elephant typically asks each person to bring a gift to a party. Gifts are piled up, and participants then take turns either picking a sealed gift or stealing someone else's open gift.
. That's the gist of it, but the full process is listed below. Read on if you plan on playing. 
1. Player #1 will select a gift from the pool and 'open it.' Once I see your post with your number, I'll announce your present.
2. A) Starting with player #2 and after, each player will have a choice: You can either steal a previous player's opened gift or choose an unwrapped gift from the pool. If you choose to steal a gift, you must announce the person you are stealing from and their gift:
This will help me to better keep track of the chaos.
If a player chooses to steal your gift, you may choose a new gift from the unwrapped pool or from any player other than the one who just stole your gift (ex. Player 4(Maia) steals Player 1 (Donna's)'s gift. Donna must choose either a new unwrapped gift or she can steal a gift from Player 2 (Emzies) or 3 (Claire)... x (you). Donna cannot steal back her gift from Maia in this turn).
3. After every player has had a turn, Player #1 will have the opportunity to steal a gift if they so choose. And, of course, if you have your gift stolen, then you can choose to steal another gift. Once someone decides to not steal a gift, the game is officially over and prizes will be rewarded.

If you'd like to, check out last year's White Elephant. 12 people who sign up will be able to take part. In order to try to make participation a little more fair, we will be doing a random draw, based on everyone who signs up, to decide who actually gets to play. Because we are limiting the number of participants, please only sign up if you know that you'll be able to be active (signing in at least once a day). Signs up will remain open until Sunday, May 23rd. After that a random draw will be held and we'll begin!
