This wasn't how willow had expected her last year to end she had lost her duel, lost quidditch, lost she felt like she had lost out on so much she had nothing good about her left. she had challenged Analei to a duel as a way to save herself some face but her co-leader, after initially accepting, had declined to say she was too busy. she smiled to herself as an old song rang through her head, I'm not angry and more, well sometimes i amit had been her mantra for the whole year. it was almost the end of the semester and she had nothing positive to show for it. she wasn't sure if this was how to make up for it but a bit of a party would be fun. She had had some of the pictures from the duels printed and posted them on the walls of the clubroom and organised for some food and drinks to be organised. see we are doing almost the exact same classes and I have time for my club she thought to herself forgetting that the role of the head girl was likely more demanding than just perfect. this was mainly just going to be an informal party. but also a way to officially announce the winners of the tournament and the new leaders of the club. she hoped that they would do better at it than she was. she wiped the dry skin under her prickling eye and tried to think of happy thoughts. as she turned on some music. trying to reach for something that could be used to contour her Patronus and something that wouldn't be corrupted by being associated with how she was feeling right now.

Juniper was still a little bitter about her loss during the dueling tournament, but she figured not going to the SDA gathering would make other people aware of that. She couldn't shrug it off completely, but she hoped that she'd just use it as an excuse to practice and be better next year. As she walked into the duelling chamber, she noticed photos had been hung on the walls of the duel and walked around looking at the portraits reenacting some of the finer moments of the tournaments. She stopped at one that showed Lysander taking his winning shot as she flew onto the floor. Balling up her fist, she turned her attention towards the food and grabbed one cookie, placing it in the pocket of her robes and taking and another to snack on as she waited for others to arrive that she knew.

Outside of the school paper, the SDA was one of the few clubs Sydney thought was actually worth putting any time to. Unlike clubs like Heta Omega or the Brotherhood, it actually offered a chance to learn and hone skills, especially with the tournament each year. A tournament Sydney was pleased to consider herself undefeated in, despite Professor Alicastell's bogus ruling to disqualify her in her second year, which Sydney didn't count. Making her way down to the duelling chamber, Sydney perused the pictures from the tournament with interest. She'd managed to witness most of them, but it was still interesting to look. Willow was nearby, looking like she might be putting on a brave face after what had to be a demoralizing final year. It was rather nice, in Sydney's opinion, to see a Gryffindor who wasn't swanning about the place for once. Sydney wasn't really here to party, just to get some recognition for being one of the undefeated champions and then move on.

With things getting busier than ever, Analei was happy that Willow taking care of the end of year party. She thought it was a great idea, and she couldn't wait to attend it, and just unwind. Analei arrived the party, with some food from the kitchens and a few pins* that they were going to hand out. Upon entering the room, Analei took a moment, to take in the atmosphere, and the fact that this was probably the last time she was going to be in that room. Analei put the food down, looking at the pictures that Willow had put up with a smile. She approached her co-leader, smile still on her face. "Wow Willow, this looks incredible!"

*Thanks to Kaitlyn for making the pin, and Mia for the idea!

The whole buzz and excitement about winning all of his duels had died down for Lysander as the semester had progressed, but as soon as the end of year party was announced, a lot of those feelings had resurged. He strutted walked into the SDA clubroom, his chest slightly puffed out with pride. He couldn't help himself, he'd won two years in a row now, and he felt pretty pleased about it. It meant a lot to know he was actually good at duelling, and it wasn't just a lucky once off. He raised his hand to wave at Willow, and stopped by the collection of photographs to have a closer look at them. He hadn't seen what any of his duels had looked like from anyone else's perspective yet and he was curious to see if he was as cool as he'd felt in the moment. They weren't all that exciting compared to the older students, and he still had a lot of spells left to learn that he was so looking forward to using in future. He chuckled to himself at one of the animated photos, Tobe-Mae losing to his slug-vomiting hex, a spell which had been super helpful in winning a couple of duels now. He felt less bad about it as he had with Ajax the previous year he just couldn't deny that it was pretty funny to watch, and he was glad he'd never had to be on the receiving end.

Being a first year, that had meant that Flynn couldn't take part in the dueling competition, which he thought sucked big time. But he was rather looking forward to it the following year, quite eager to take part himself and be able to show how great ta dueling he had to be. But first, he still had the rest of this semester to get through which was quickly coming to and end and was not about to miss out on the club's end of year party. The first thing he did upon entering the room was a move to take a look at the pictures the two seventh year girls had put up. They were pretty cool, he had to admit and next year - next year he was certain there would be one of him beating all the other second years.

Being part of the SDA had never been that fun, but with a final party Diana saw a final chance to get under Willow's skin. It was probably the one part of the club she would actually miss. Even if she had lost the championship in the end, she had at least made sure Willow lost as well. That was something to be happy about, at least. She spotted the head girl heading over to Willow with pins for the dueling champion. She headed over at once, smiling slightly. "How interesting, Analei. That you're handing these out the year you win the tournament." She told her sweetly. "Are you going to give Willow one too so she can feel better about losing? It's okay, I won't tell." She added, glancing at Willow with a smirk.

@Willow Cullen @Analei Louw

Admittedly, it had been nice to win something. He'd done the duelling since he'd been in second year but this was the only time he had actually managed to win at it. Most of the time he didn't really care about winning, he was happy enough just being able to take part, to flex his magic and have a good time. Winning this year had felt good if still a little hollow. He'd never do anything with it, it would just be a title that he held, something that he did. The boy felt conflicted as he got to the SDA room, hoping they'd just have a quick round up, that they would just finish it with maybe a little celebration. After all, there was reason to celebrate, the running would be past to someone else. Aonghas didn't feel particularly one way or another about who it was. They would run it just fine, he assumed. The teen just waited as others showed hopefully it wouldn't take too long, in theory he was supposed to be studying.

Willow watched as people started to enter the room. she saw a girl looking at the pictures "Hey It's juniper right? you had about as much luck as i did in the duels this year. dont worry. the outcomes are part luck. and there is always next year where you can try again" she said. though she knew there was not a next year for her. she left the girl as she saw someone else enter. "Hey Sydney, Glad yhat you culd make it. are you ready, we were going to announce the new leaders today as well as winners" she said giving her a heads up before she was put on the spot. as analei came towards her she took a deep breath and bit her lip as the girl spoke "Thanks. i took a break from Newt study to make sure we had it all set up. she said pausing to wave at lysander it wouldn't be right to have an end of year party without food, or anounce the winners without pictures. and the pins look great" she continued.
willows heart sank as the next girl entered the room. she had to force her hand from not going towards her wand as the girls words, innocent-sounding enough were anything but. she knew Diana well enough to know each one was calculated to cut at deep as it could. however this time she was slightly off target. "oh you heard about them, or did you just see them it doesnt make much difference really" she said. it wasn't something they had announced that they were giving out but gossip travelled fast through the school reaching everyone quicker than devils snare. "you see you are wrong there dianna. first of all, I was the one who organised the badges. and this isn't the first year we have had them the older ones were just a different style" she said. there had been a pin for the previous year. it was just this year she had organised with a different student to make them, and this was the first year that they were announcing them. "and I don't need a pin to know I am the best. you only won because you were lucky professor Acasteli tossed tails" she said making sure no tone of bitterness was coming out. she knew that she had deserved to win, she was easily better than Dianna. analei, she had come to the conclusion that she may not be but definitely Diana. she turned to her co-leader. "what do you reckon, give it a few more minutes then we start the announcements. did you wantto start with the new leaders then me the winners since you can't really announce yourself" she said. making a joke even a feeble one was a way to hide tht it hurt her to say it.

@Juniper Zumwalt @Sydney Townsend @Analei Louw @Diana Holland

Leia was looking forward to the final SDA celebration, from what. she heard it would be an award presentation and really, Leia was quite keen to get one. She hadn't thought she would win the duelling on her first attempt but she had managed it, and she held her head high. It was just the first and wouldn't mean she'd win others, but she was rather looking forward to the next one anyway. If she could win multiple in a row that would show how good she was at magic and at duelling. For this therefore she'd dressed nicely, wearing slightly nicer clothes, actually doing something with her hair and putting on a little pink lipgloss that she thought made her look cute. She arrived somewhat nervously at the SDA room, she found a little spot to stand in and just waited for things to get started.

Derek would of course go along to the last events of the year, he would never get many opportunities to do these sorts of things once he graduated so now was as good a time as any to be able to do it. The teen arrived at the SDA room, he knew that this wouldn't be the most fun, and he had so many exams to prepare for, but he had to take breaks whenever he could. This was a decent enough break. He gave a quick smile to the leaders as he made his way into the room and looked between everyone else, there seemed to be some light drama but he smiled a little at it, he was definitely going to miss elements of that with being out of school. But he was sure things would get underway and everyone just brush past the drama to what they were all here for.

Daintree had wanted to do better in the duelling than he had done. He had wanted to do better, but he didn't seem to have much luck with them, though they were the most fun he tended to have at this school and the only place he had fun every time he tried it. It was one element of this magical school that he had liked from the start. Daintree didn't know what they'd be doing this close to the end of the semester. But he would go along anyway, despite it being pre-exams it wasn't like he had much studying to do or was going to be doing. The slytherin hoped that he would have greater success in the next tournament and maybe spend more time engaging with things in this club, he would just have to sit through this first and it would keep him busy for a little while until he had to really go study.

Jasper knew a lot of people in SDA who he didn't like a lot, but a few of them were fine. He was sad he had lost to Blake in the first round, but it had still been fun to watch the duels. He headed to the party, nodding in greeting to Willow as he passed her. She'd been a cool leader, and he wondered who would replace her and the head girl next year. He hoped it was someone cool.Jasper walked up to Sydney, looking over her shoulder at the pictures. "Any of your amazing victories?" He asked her teasingly. "Hopefully none of my awful defeat." He added, suddenly nervously checking the photos to make sure. "You were pretty good." He admitted to her.

It disappointed Tyler that the final event for SDA was a party. It was so uninspired, and something that any club could do. He would rather have learned new spells or practiced dueling techniques. It didn't help that he was pretty bitter about not winning this year. He'd won every year except for his second, and now his streak was broken because of a stupid Hufflepuff. Tyler grabbed himself some food and gave Aonghas a wide berth. He did not feel like running into him today.

Aisa wasn't a big club person, but somehow she was in two. She preferred the yearbook over SDA personally, pretty much because of events like this. The only part of SDA she liked was the tournament, and she mostly went to the event today to be polite and show appreciation to the people leading the club. But she wasn't very good at being social. She was also a bit bummed out about losing to Padme so early on in the tournament, so looking at the photos just made her feel kind of sad. She leaned against the wall, her expression neutral as she took in the party quietly for now.

Juniper was surprised when one of the club leaders came up and spoke with her. She knew who @Willow Cullen was but had never really spoken to the older student, even though they were in the same club. "Yeah, that's me. I mean, luck, yeah, but I also use it as motivation to work harder so I can beat people next year," she said with a smile as the prefect left her. She thought about focusing more on DADA so she would be better prepared for next week. As more students arrived to the gathering, she noticed the second year champion arrive. She walked over towards the blonde girl, unsure of her name. "Congratulations," she said, leaning in. "I'm Juniper, by the way."

@Leia Hume

Ajaccio had to admit he didn't mind losing to lysander for the second year in a row, at the very least this time his experience of it hadn't ended when he'd vomited up the worst slugs. He hadn't liked that at all. The teen headed into the SDA room and made a beeline for his friend. Where he spotted that the boy. was looking at pictures and one of that stupid slug vomiting curse. "That's certainly a favourite spell of yours, right?" he joked lightly. He could joke about it now, though at the time it hadn't felt particularly happy about it. "You getting a prize today? Maybe next year I'll finally win against you," he said with a smirk, he doubted he would manage to but it was still fun to joke.
@Lysander Summers

Lumio had enjoyed the duelling tournament, and really he had enjoyed everything that the SDA had done, he hadn't been a part of the club during his first year but he had enjoyed it in his second year a whole lot. he liked the clubs at school a lot but he couldn't be a part of too many, it just wasn't that. possible, but he could do the dueling stuff and be part of the SDA, there was no reason to not know how to defend himself. Lumio walked into the room and spotted his brother and his brother's friend by the pictures, but he decided to not go there. He couldn't really spot anyone else that he knew in the room. So he decided he would just wait and listen along to what was going to happen and hopefully he'd spot someone he knew too.

Liusaidh had been bitter than she hadn't been allowed to take part in the duelling tournament or that no amount of badgering would've allowed her the opportunity to, they had just been very clear about it. She was looking forward to when she could do it, but it felt a little silly coming to the last meeting of the year and last social event and just having to celebrate in others. There hadn't even been any fun little competitions for first years. It was just a pity and she had to just watch others for a bit. Liusaidh glanced towards the leaders of the club, she wondered who would be taking over from them, hopefully it was someone more fun. With less talks and just more fighting. She'd make it her mission to be heard by whomever this person possibly was.

Sydney glanced over when Willow addressed her, giving her a nod of acknowledgement. She figured it was about time to make the announcement. She'd been about to say so when Jasper approached her, and Sydney decided to let it go, turning to him and scoffing. The chance that Jasper was trying to be funny was high, but Sydney was feeling pretty accomplished with her duelling career right now and decided to let it slide. "Plenty, I'm sure," She said lightly. "None of Eric Holland being a barbarian at least," She said, glancing around the room to see if Eric had dared to show his face. "If you like I can give you some tips for next year."
@Jasper Night

"Absolutely." Analei replied to @Willow Cullen ; she was definitely glad they were having a party. It was a perfect way to end an amazing year. More people arrived, and Analei greeted some of them with smiles before rolling her eyes when @Diana Holland approached them. She shook her head in disgust at the girl's comment, wondering if she was ever going to get over her attitude. Analei didn't get a moment to open her mouth before Willow did, completely putting her in her place. The Head Girl smirked, shrugging her shoulders at Diana as if to say, 'there's your answer!'. "Sounds good." Analei replied to Willow again, turning her back on Diana. Analei passed the pins over to Willow before making her way around the room to say hi to people again.
Before she knew it, the room had filled up quite substantially so Analei made her way back to Willow to get started. "Hey guys! Gather around, we have a couple of things to say!" She called, before waiting for everyone to gather and quieten. "Thanks everyone for helping make this club so amazing, and for having such a fantastic year. We hope you guys have learnt something new, and had fun at the dueling competition. As this is both Willow and my last year, it's time for us to hand over to your new leaders. Please join us in congratulating @Sydney Townsend and @Tyler Lee !"

Willow watched as the room seemed to suddenly fill with people. she listened as analei called everyone's attention to them and started off congratulating people before announcing the next years leaders. it had been a hard decision as to who to lead. so much to factor in. she had wanted to pick someone who would maybe find the club and the responsibility that came with it as a way to channel his energy but his past and how he conducted himself in the duelling tournament, as well as his obvious clash with their other candidate, would make it a very volatile club. by now she was happy with the two people they ad chose. a fourth-year and a fifth year. she also realised that picking them from different years meant that they would not both be doing the bigs exams together. next year Tyler would be in the calm before the storm in the sixth year while Sydney had her exams. and the following year it would be the other way around Sydney in the safe year while Tyler faced newts she collapsed as the two co-captains were announced once the room had quietened down she stepped forward slightly "Congratulations Sydney and Tyler." she said. before starting her talk. "As you surely know that there was a duelling tournament earlier in the semester. sp part of this party is to celebrate the winners. well done to everyone who participated. there was some impressive use of magic leading to some real nail biter of matches to watch so to those who didn't win. don't lose hope keep practising it is a real life skill. and there is always next year, she said. not that there would be a next year for her. "we have organised pins for each of you so please come up so we can get a picture for the yearbook." she said. she hoped all of the winners were there. "Our second-year champion is @Leia Hume." she started. "our third-year champion is @Lysander Summers" she said glancing at the boy. she was pretty sure there would be great things coming from him. she knew him from quidditch, and he almost felt like a little brother to her, no wonder he hung out with lin a lot. "our fourth-year champion is @Sydney Townsend, and @Aonghas Fergusson takes the title for the fifth years." she continued "for the sixth years @Ava Lancaster is your winner she said before glancing back to analei. "and our seventh year champion is our very own @Analei Louw she said trying to sound as enthusiastic about the seventh year winner as she had done all of the others. "congratulations guys." she said. as she handed each of them the pin. "that is all we have to say for now. thanks, for such a great year. enjoy the party, good luck with the exams and have a great holiday" she said. before taking a step backwards and then towards the snack table. there were some cupcakes there that looked delicious.

Lysander tore his eyes away from the moving photos, focusing instead on Ajax when he rocked up. "It is now." He laughed. The slug-vomiting charm had gotten him through enough rounds for it to be one of his favourite spells to use now, and he knew he'd be using it even more next time. He nodded his head, sure he'd be getting a prize. "I think so, I heard someone talking about pins, and I got an award last year." He said, and chuckled at his friends comments. "They say the third time is lucky. We'll find out then, hey?" If there was one person he wanted to duel against every year, it had to be Ajax, so he hoped he'd get to challenge him again. A part of him was eager to keep proving to himself that he was the best duelist in the year, and Ajax was his biggest competition.
When Analei and Willow called everyone around, to speak, Sander shot his friend an excited grin and shuffled over to join the others. "This must be it!" He commented, listening idly to them announce the next year's leaders. He'd almost forgotten that they'd both be gone next year. When he heard his name called out as the third-year's champion, he made his way up to the front, a little too enthusiastically, and accepted his pin with the widest grin. He was definitely wearing that for the rest of the day - no, the whole week. "Thanks, Willow. You've been a really cool leader. I'm gonna miss you." He beamed, offering Analei a small thanks, too. It was harder to see a teammate leaving, and Willow had always been helpful to him throughout the years. He fiddled with the badge after it was pinned on, making sure it looked good and was proudly displayed for his photo, before hopping back down to go stand with his friend, and watch the others receive their own pins.
@Ajaccio Skey @Willow Cullen

Sydney put her conversation on pause for a moment when Willow and Analei called the club's attention. She couldn't help the quietly smug smirk when Analei announced she would be taking over as one of the co-leaders of SDA next year. She had been hopeful that Tyler would say no somehow or be removed from consideration, but it seemed now he was officially her partner in this, which was far from ideal. She gave Jasper a vaguely disgusted look as Tyler's name was announced along with hers, hoping to convey exactly her opinion of Tyler before Willow stepped up to start handing out some sort of award. While Sydney was all for appreciation for her excellent duelling career, she wasn't a big fan of pins or trophies, taking hers with a wordless nod and dropping it in her pocket. People should know she was the best duellist in her year, but she didn't need to wear a pin all the time to remind everyone. She rolled her eyes when she watched one of the younger champions flounce up to club leaders to get his, clearly he didn't have the same qualms about gloating as she did. She recognized him as that professor's kid too and clicked her tongue in annoyance. Typical for a professor's kid to think he owns the school.

"Thanks, I'm Leia...but you must sort of know that," she replied to the girl, Juniper. If she was congratulating her she had to know who she was. But her attention was pulled to the leaders. Leia applauded for the new leaders, though she didn't really care that much about them. They were both slytherins and they were quite a bit older, that was all she knew about them. Leia listened as Willow the other girl continued, saying more about the duelling tournament and then finally inviting the victorious people on to the stage. She stepped forward and definitely was holding her head high and puffing her chest out proudly as the badge was pinned to her chest. She knew it was such a small thing, but it was so cool that she'd won and she couldn't help but feel proud of herself for it. So she'd happily live in this moment with it. She would need to work twice as hard to win it next year again, but she was hopeful she could. She didn't applaud for anyone else, seeing no point, just waiting till it was all announced and the girl seemed to just put the party in motion. She moved away when she was able to, and knew she wouldn't spend too much longer there and didn't go back to the girl who introduced herself to her before this.
