SDA Event: end of year party and award presentation

Aonghas found that he wasn't too surprised by. who the new leaders were, Tyler he knew vaguely, they were in the same year and he knew Lauren didn't get along with Tyler. But he was sure they would make good leaders of this club. he was a little embarrassed by the whole badge pinning, he had hoped that they wouldn't actually do anything, but they were and it just felt a little awkward to him. he didn't care about winning, he like practicing his magic, winning was just something that had happened this time. He did take the time to actually look at it while festivities were kicking off, and just decided to approach Tyler, "Hey man, congrats, any grand plans for all this?"

Ava was not a member of the Student Defence Association. She'd had little interest in any of the school's clubs since she'd transferred. Her only involvement had, almost unknown to her, been in the duelling tournament, which she had won. Anyone could sign up, and it was easy to forget that it was hosted by some of the students rather than the school, though with the professors overseeing each duel, Ava couldn't be sure how much of a role the club actually played in it, if any at all. It seemed to her that they slapped the name of the club on the event and called it a day, and left the work to others. So, she had not expected to be invited to some awards ceremony as a result of winning. She didn't particularly need an award - besting her fellow students in front of the school had been rewarding enough, but she wasn't going to say no.

Hovering by the entrance to the chamber, Ava listened to the club leaders make their announcements, her arms folded across her chest and blending in with the grey of the dungeon's brick. She clapped politely at hearing the Townsend girls name thrown out as a successor to the two current leaders. Better choices than the current ones, she imagined. Willow almost appeared to be more of an assistant to Analei, than another leader of the club. Had she not lost spectacularly? Leading by example was not her forte, apparently. Ava heard her own name called, and pushing away from the wall, she strode up to silently take her pin. It was no trophy, but that was no matter. She'd left her mark on the school, and that was enough. She posed for a picture, making no effort to smile, and disengaged herself once more, wandering back to the exit. She'd gotten what she came for, and standing around to socialise was pushing it.

When the annoyingly chirpy leader of the club told them to gather around, Tyler moved to the front quickly. He knew what would be said now, and despite feeling bitter about his loss, he didn't want to miss the next announcement either. He smiled as she announced that he and Sydney would be taking over the club, standing up straight and smiling proudly. He kept his smile in place during the little award ceremony, even if he felt a little bitter about not winning for his year. But they had still chosen him to take over, so they clearly recognized his superior talent. It was just too bad it was going to be with Sydney, who didn't seem all that impressive or fun to be around. Tyler was then approached by the one guy he'd been trying to avoid, but it was a little easier to face Aonghas now. "Thanks." He said, smiling easily. "Well, I'll have to discuss with my co-leader, but I do have the plan to win the duels next year." He said, laughing lightly as if he was joking even though he meant it. "And I'm sure we'll think of some fun and useful activities to do as a club." He added.

Jasper knew about Sydney's rivalry with the Gryffindor kid, and had seen how he'd gotten disqualified from their duel. "Shame, kind of a funny moment to take a photo of." He said with a shrug. He noticed the Gryffindor in question wasn't even at the event, which was probably for the best. Jasper scoffed at Sydney's words. "I don't need tips. " He told her. Especially not from someone a year younger than him. But then Analei started speaking and announced the two new leaders of the club. Jasper's eyes widened and he looked at Sydney in shock, only to then register what other name was called. He pulled a face, looking at Tyler in disgust. But he couldn't talk to Sydney immediately because she was called to the front to receive a badge for winning. The look she gave him said enough to reassure him she felt the same way he did. Once Sydney was finished being awarded, Jasper walked up to her again. "I would congratulate you, but having to work with Tyler is not something I would wish on anyone." He said, keeping his voice solemn as if it was a truly terrible fate.

Aonghas gave a little polite laugh at his joke, "Aye, this wis just a fluke, ye'll get them next year," he hadn't expected to win this year and he didn't expect he'd win next year. He thought Tyler was the better dueller. Aonghas had in his own mind gotten quite lucky, he liked duelling, enjoyed it, but he didn't need to be winning. He was sure too there would be plenty for them to do other than the duelling but that of course the big event of this club. "How're ye feeling about the OWLs? Nice bit of a break havin' this now," he wouldn't keep Tyler much longer, he did have to get back to his revision but it was nice to have this break between reading boring books.
