Y35 Pride Event

Hermione had attended a couple of pride events early in her school years with Eleonora when they had been together but since the pair had drifted she had been less inclined to attend school events. She made her way into the busy Great hall and marvelled at the decorations, whoever it was that had planned the event that year had done a good job with the decorations, she'd tell them so if she managed to figure out who it was. Spotting a few people offering face painting so she decided that would be her first port of call and she decided get a rainbow flag on each cheek, it felt appropriate.

Wendall wanted to come to Pride, but mainly because he knew that two of his bestest friends were helping out there. The Hufflepuff had found a colourful trail on route to the hall, which he was following and entered as the event was in full flow. Immediately his eyes landed on the only stand he really cared about, and waving frantically at Lysander and Ajax, he moved through the crowd to join them. "You got the balloons!" he grinned, thinking that it was probably pointless for him to try and make anything, he didn't want them all to pop and then his friends would run out of balloons to give other people. Wendall knew he wasn't the most coordinated person in the world, so it was probably best if he didn't make the situation worse. "Can you do Dragons?" he asked them, curious to see whether that was one they'd learnt.

Tres didn't really care much about Pride at all, her orientation wasn't something she'd thought about. She was with Daintree because she thought he was cool, and that's all that mattered. She wondered if she would see him at Pride too although maybe he would be too busy training for his next Quidditch match to bother. The third year was here however because she needed to show off the fact that she was wearing a beautiful EVELYN blouse with her jeans and heels, and since she needed to get word out, why not go where a lot of other students were? It was the perfect opportunity really. Tres didn't know what to expect but as soon as she walked into the room she spotted that there was someone taking photos. She needed to get a few, even if it just meant that she could show people what she did at pride, and smiled at herself at her underlying marketing scheme. "Hi!" she said to the girl who was standing by the photo booth, hoping that she would be able to take good pictures and not just some terrible ones that people wouldn't want to see.

Poppy felt like such an idiot. She had been pleasantly surprised when Elliot had asked her to help him with the flower crowns at the pride event, but of course she had gotten distracted and lost track of time. Rushing into the hall, she was relieved to see Elliot was still setting up with only Mhairi at the table. “Hey Elliot!” she said a little breathlessly arrived. “Sorry, I was running a little late.” she added with an awkward laugh. Poppy started to look through the crowns on the table for the one she made earlier and stole a glance toward the other boy when she thought he wasn’t looking. Poppy wasn’t entirely sure how she was supposed to feel about him. Before this she primarily knew him as Lars' boyfriend but they had broken up a while ago, and while she didn’t talk to Lars that much she could still tell that he was upset about it. Finally spotted the lavender crown she was looking for and put it on. "Hi, Mhairi!" She greeted, before turning to Elliot again, “What do you need help with?” she asked.

Ajaccio grinned brightly as Lysander joined him, ”Hey Lysander!” he greeted him warmly, ”Are you ready for this?” he asked with a lightly tone. He was pretty sure they would probably pop more balloons than they would make who animals but he didn’t much mind, it would be fun. He was hardly surprised when the first person to come over to them was Star. He grinned happily at the other boy, ”So many balloons!” he said. At the request, Ajax looked towards Lysander and laughed lightly, ”I’ll give it a try Star,” he told him, and picked up a few different colours. He made his best attempt to make a balloon animal dragon, but, he popped a few balloons and in the end had something that was closer to a dog with weird ill shaped wings that a dragon, ”Do you want to try Lysander?” he asked the other boy, he was holding out his version of he animal and kind of curious as too if he could do any better, but mostly just hoping to get a bit of a laugh off it. He would happily just let Star take this one, if star wanted to take it.

Elio chuckled as Rowan put out her fist, proud that she was still going for it even if it wasn’t the easiest task. “I know you do,” he said quietly. Elio had always believed she could do whatever she put her mind to. She was pretty stubborn like that. The fifth year didn’t want to hover on it too much, thinking Rowan would rather just get on with what she needed to do, so he took a little step back to see if anyone would come over. He grinned at Ava who seemed to be handing the situation with the Slytherins; how that girl kept a permanent smile on her face even when things went a little unexpectedly he would never know. It wasn’t long before a student approached them, well, Rowan, and Elio watched to see how this would go down. Moving some things out the way and making sure no one was going to end up tripping over while trying to get their photo taken, he double checked the lighting too. They were placed as close to one of the large windows he could find, the angle of the sun as their natural light source.

Rowan wasn't sure what she was going to do when people finally decided they wanted photos, but she was definitely not letting on how nervous she was about this. It was so stupid. There was nothing to be nervous about after all. She'd been doing this for years so why was she having a mini panic attack right now? She knew she had a control issue and she was working on it - it should have had nothing to do with her ability to take photos though and yet she felt oddly anxious about the whole thing, though the only visible tell - that likely only Elio would pick up - was the tense white-knuckled grip on the outside of her camera. She would just have to see how this went. Perhaps she would relax into it as the event continued. She had felt incredibly honoured when Elio has asked her after all, how could she have said no? It wasn't long until Rowan would have to test the theory though, as a younger girl in a very cute blouse... was that EVELYN? approached her. Rowan smiled, though it was not her usual bright one. "That's an EVELYN top right?" She asked, eager to hear a bit about this girl before they got started. "I'm Rowan, I'll be one of the photographers for today's event!" She said, trying to appear cheery and eager despite the dread. At least having Elio so close by was a welcome comfort.

Simon knew it was important as head boy to go along to the pride celebrations. He knew he was straight, it had always been clear for him, but he thought it was the role of head boy to be responsible and a role model, so role models went along to such things and took the time to ensure that everyone felt welcome. He knew most younger students didn’t approach him with much, and for that he was glad, but he was happy to be a physical presence at the event. He walked into the hall and glanced around, unsurprised to see some people he knew from his year, from his house. But he spotted the organiser, one of the gryffindor prefects and so, thinking it the best idea, he made his way over to the boy, ”Elio, congratulations, this is great,” he held out his hand to the younger boy to offer his congratulations to him. He knew this was no easy task and it was going very well. ”How are you feeling?” He did seem to be working on something with photography -some photo booth - but Simon was more than happy to take his answer slowly.

Shane looked towards the younger both as he seemed to not be too certain, "Well, I mean, keep it family friendly, but yeah, I don't mind," he grinned easily at the younger boy, "All I'd do is some stripes, paint away artiste,". His gaze was taken back by the pretty blonde and he couldn't help the light laugh, "Thanks, you can just call me Shane though, no need for such formalities," he flirted lightly with her, before extending his arm back out to her so that she could put the little heart on him like he'd seen her do with a few others. He didn't really mind if he was flirting pretty blatantly in front of a whole group of other people either, he was more than happy to and wasn't like other people had ever stopped him before. He liked flirting with people and hopefully kissing a few too. To him it didn't entirely matter who.

Vader had let himself be distracted a little by taking some other pictures of the event, getting the flower crowns from a distance and the balloon animals that some of the others were doing. But he was brought back as familiar hands turned his face and of course painted on to his check. He had to imagine with how quick she was and the fact she'd only had red it was something small like she was giving to others. He decided as he watched her return that he would head over later. So. he gave her a warm smile and then pointed at where a watch might be to say. he'd be back. Instead he wondered through the hall and headed to where a small group of second years - one of whom he knew from the rose giving were stood. balloon animals in hand. "Do you boys want a picture with some of those balloon animals?" he asked them, holding up the camera, sure that boys of that age, who all seemed pretty keen to be a part of things would want a picture taken.

Lumio had heard about the pride event, he had been keen to go along, though he wasn’t himself anything - or well - he hadn’t thought about it, thinking he was too young to be dating at all or thinking about it. There was so much else that he could do with his time that wasn’t dating. But he knew he’d go along anyway. Lumio walked into the hall and immediately noticed that it was both busy and there was a lot to do. He then spotted his brother making balloon animals and thought that was pretty typical of him. He didn’t appear to be very good at it, so Lumio just wandered off and went to where it appeared there were some crowns, with a couple older students, none of whom he'd seen in his house. ”These are pretty neat! Are they hand made?” he knew a number of things could be made by magic and wondered if some of this was that.

Willow entered the great hall slightly dubiously. it was the pride event which was part of the schools social Callender that she didnt feel like she should be attending because she wasn't a part of the LGBT+ community. but Ellio and chante had asked her to help out so she would. She looked around the hall and saw her cousin had already set up. "Hey chante. you look colourful" she said. smiling at the outfit her cousin had worn, she was wearing pure white though she had taken a while to put some colours into her makeup which was what had taken so long. it was hard to get that many colours even and looking good. "What did you need me to do" she said. before picking up a doughnut. "can I have one of do I need to eat it off a string" she asked smirking a little her cousins cooking was so good she was really looking forward to one of them.

Cyzarine had gotten together with Mihail but she knew now more than ever that it wasn’t because he was a boy that she liked him, she liked him because of who he was. She didn’t care about gender when it came to who she liked and who she knew she could love. It had been a fairly obvious thing to her, she liked love, she loved love. So why wouldn’t she want to actively keep all avenues open, even if she was with Mihail. It wasn’t something they discussed but she knew he’d be okay with it. Because they were together and it didn’t change them. But she’d come to the pride celebrations, and she was looking for information, to maybe find the name to go along with how she felt. So, she was pleased to find a little light reading and maybe within it she’d learn how she could identify.

Padme had been thinking a lot about what the older girl had said to her in the owlery, she hadn’t even considered that she might like something other than just boys. She had always just assumed that was the way, She had noticed her brother’s struggles with his girlfriends and seen lots of programmes where it just seemed to be the default so she’d never given it any thought. But, it was why she’d come to the great hall for the pride event. Her gaze easily found her brother, and she frowned a little, she didn’t think she’d once seen him where he didn’t look to some degree tired. It hadn’t been difficult during the breaks to notice he barely slept but they were in different houses, so it was harder now. But Padme just stood at the edge of the hall, a little nervous about going much further and certainly unsure of herself.

Lysander nodded enthusiastically at Ajax. "I've been practicing!" He told him. He still wasn't the best, but he didn't want to be upstaged in front of the whole school, and he had no idea how good at it the other boy was. When Wendall came over he offered his best friend a grin, and began blowing up balloons. He was just as interested to see if Ajaccio could make a dragon out of the balloons they had. He hadn't seen any dragons in the book he'd learned from. He felt better when Ajaccio's turned out to not quite be as good as he'd thought it might. "Yeah, I'll give it a go!" He beamed once the other boy was done. He cracked his fingers for dramatic effects and started to twist balloons together. The end result was more or less a butterfly with a really, really long tail. "Close enough, right?" He laughed, popping the balloon creature on the table for Wendall. He noticed Vader heading over and hoped that whatever animal he wanted was a lot simpler than a dragon. Instead, he wanted a picture, and Sander was happy to oblige. He loved having his photo taken. "Heck yeah! Come on, guys." He said, pulling Wendall around to their side to stand with him and Ajax so he could pose with their dragon attempts, and putting his arm around the both of them.

Abian always loved going to the pride event, and this year was no different. He knew that a guy in his year organized it this year, and Abian was glad. He headed out into the Great Hall, looking around at everything that was on display. He wanted to get a flower crown and some face paint, but was immediately drawn tot he donut eating contest. He was actually a little hungry, and felt like he could do pretty well. He looked at the donuts on strings hanging around and glanced at the girls running the booth. "So uh, how does this work? What's the contest?"

While things were still pretty quiet at their booth, Elliot was relieved when Poppy made it over. He gave her a little smile and wave, making room for her by the booth. "No worries, thanks again for helping," Before this year, Elliot would have happily asked Lars to help him out with this, but sneaking a glance at where he could see Lars at the painting booth nearby, Elliot wasn't even sure he and Lars could survive making eye-contact right now, let alone anything else. "If you can help anyone who wants to weave their own crown?" Elliot said when Poppy asked what he needed help with. He didn't feel totally comfortable ordering Poppy around or anything, but there was no doubt she was better at making things like flower crowns. Elliot could manage, but he always felt like he took too long trying to get everything perfect.

Elliot glanced over when someone else joined them at the booth, smiling at the other boy tentatively."Uh yeah, hand grown, hand-made. You can make your own if you want," He said, gesturing to the pre-made crowns in various pride colours before pointing out the collection of loose blooms as well.

Poppy was glad Elliot wasn’t upset about her somewhat late arrival. “No problem!” she assured him as she watched him glance in Lars's direction briefly. There was a curious part of her that wanted to ask what happened between them but thankfully she was able to contain it, for now. “You got it.” she said with a decisive nod. She was happy to help out today, it was a fun event and she loved making flower crowns. It really was a perfect combination. Thankfully someone came to the table before any awkward silence could really settle in. “Yep! I made this one myself!” she said and proudly pointed to the crown on her own head. “I can help you if you’d like!”

Lars blushed a bit as the boy mentioned keeping it family friendly, what did he think he was painting on his face? He nodded quietly, then kept on with the swirling vines on the boy's face in purple, pink and blue. He was a little uncomfortable as the boy seemed to be flirting with Ava, but added a few small leaves and flowers before finishing his project. If he took this much time and detail with everyone, he knew he would be way too slow. But he liked how the swirls and vines he'd painted moved along the boy's jaw and cheekbones, he just hoped the boy would like it too. "Uh, here." He said, showing him the result with a mirror.

Maggy hadn't really over considered herself as anything. She knew she liked Acacia and hadn't ever crushed or felt anything much towards boys. So as she walked into the Pride event she wished Acacia was there with her. Last year she had found her in the crowd but this year she wasn't too sure where her girlfriend had gone to that day. She looked around and saw some face painting and flower crowns and a few other booth type things. She wondered if her sister came to this event ever, especially now since it'd be a way to show some sort of support for Maggy. Though, Maggy wasn't really sure if she needed support, she didn't really feel like anyone at the school hated her for dating Acacia or anything like that. She was glad the school was so open to different things like that, or at least the people who weren't didn't seem to be very open about saying so. She went over and waited in line at the face painting while looking around for Acacia.

Hudson stumbled into the Great Hall that was bursting with people half wondering what was going on. The flags and signs clued him in rather fast. He was half tempted to back right out feeling unsure how he felt. He dated Vivian and thought it meant he only liked guys. And Hudson was okay with that, he wasn't too sure how his family would feel, especially his Aunt and Uncle being very traditional people, but they had plenty of their own children and his own siblings to put their hope behind for being what they would consider normal. But as his eyes danced around the room he spotted Mhairi Olaf. He felt like his stomach did a little flutter. He had really been enjoying talking with her over the past year and getting to know each other more. Wishing he had stayed in touch during first year when they had first met rather than going off and being the loner he became. His thoughts rushed to the rink rose he had gotten back in February. He had hoped it would have been from her but he didn't feel like he should ask. It'd just get his hopes up and seeing her at the Pride event made his hopes diminish a bit more. Maybe she wouldn't be interested in him at all being that he was male. He had a debate in his head if he should go over to her now or not.

Chante smiles brightly over at Willow, glancing down at her own dress. The tall girl bend a knee in front of the other in a formal curtsy. She did so quickly as to not to lose her balance and fall over. "Thank you, Willow! I saw the dress and knew I had to wear it for pride. It goes perfect, these are the pansexual colors," she boasted so proudly. Two or three years ago, she wouldn't know that bit information or anything about pansexuality. Although, she always felt it was ambiguous, personally for her. To be accepted is a whole other part of discovering pansexuality. To be accepted and supportive, they really did make a difference for her or for anyone here part of the LGBT community. "You can set up some more doughnuts or," Chante grins, at the exact moment Abian approach their booth. "You can have the contest with Abian here. Basically, you try to eat a doughnut from a string. First one to eat theirs all, get one of these pins or pens," Chante shows the pair. "I may have gotten a little carried away with pride."

@Willow Cullen @Abian Hunter

Daintree gelt it was important to be a visible presence at events at the school. Which was why he was quite happy to go along to the pride celebrations. To Daintree what a person was didn’t matter because that wasn’t what could bring value to him. The boy walked into the hall and immediately spotted Tres. She was near some older students who’d clearly set up a photo booth of some kind, not quite as flashy as some of the ones that he’d seen at muggle events but certainly a magical version of it. Daintree walked over, he knew he could go look at other things, talk to others, but he needed to at least watch Tres for a moment, greet her properly, they were dating after all. ”Hey Tres,” he greeted her with a little smile, he looked towards the girl who was taking the picture and gave her a little flash of a smile, but he didn’t do anything else, just watched with a little smile at his girlfriend, he knew she liked being a model for Evelyn and really he wanted her to be the centre of attention and for him to be seen as the good and supportive boyfriend.

Abian grinned as Chante explained the contest, it didn't sound very hard at all. "Don't tall people have an advantage?" He asked her, eyeing how tall she was. But it seemed like he was competing against Willow instead, who he had assumed was manning the booth with the Hufflepuff. He grinned, he wanted one of those pins. "Sure, I'm in!"

((godmod approved))

Ava waved and giggled as Sapphire and her grumpy friend wandered away, motioning the next person in line forward. She leaned over, quickly painting the heart on the older boy's arm. "Your work is really good, Lars," She complimented. She glanced up at the pretty boy, liking the colors on his face. "You're pretty," She complimented him, humming softly as she straightened again. She grinned at the girl standing there. "Hi! Do you know what you want painted?" She asked, trying to decide what colors would look best on her.
