Open The stands

Josh hadn't seen a game of Quidditch before, though he had heard about the game from different people. He was glad that the first Quidditch game he was watching was with his house and he had high hopes for them to win. He wanted to see a live game and see what it was like, and if he liked what he saw, he knew that he could possibly try out for the team next year. The Gryffindor boy hurriedly and excitedly made his way to the stands, though he noticed that he was one of the first few people to arrive at the stands, which meant that he would manage to get a good seat for the game. The boy quickly took a seat and waited until the game was about to commence.

Salem always missed getting to see Quidditch games over the holidays. Sure, she could probably catch a professional match but it wasn't quite as fun to cheer on the teams when she didn't know the players. Maybe she needed to get into collecting Quidditch figurines to make it more fun.

Knowing that Elara, Isaiah, and Indi were all going to be on the pitch today put a spring in Salem's step as she made her way into the stands, finding a spot near the front and whistling as the players starting appearing on the field. "Yaay! Go Indi!!" Salem called out, waving and hopping in her seat when she spotted her before cheering even louder as the Gryffindor team appeared. Technically of course she was cheering for Gryffindor, but she still hoped Indi got a chance to play well today too.

Jordie was absolutely stoked for today's game. He rushed into the stands, dressed in as much of Ares' things as he'd been able to snipe. A too big Slytherin robe, a scarf. He'd even spent an hour on painted green snakes on his cheeks that wove all over his face. He was already beaming, a Slytherin flag in hand. "Salem!!" He giggled, rushing over. "I'm so excited!!" He gushed, standing with his friend. "Ares!! Whooo!!" Jordie cheered loudly, waving his little flag. @Ares Kuya-Tine @Salem Lee

Rosie had come to the quidditch pitch so ready for the game, she was definitely going to mostly watch it through her fingers, but she was absolutely going to cheer her sister on. She had a go Aurora sign, had red paint on her face, had really gone all out for it. She had mostly got the sign so that she could cover her face with it, hold it up and do it in a manner that she would then not have to see, but for the most part she knew she would have to just watch. Rosie took a spot in the gryffindor stands and cheered loudly when she spotted her sister in amongst the arriving players. She was waving at her too.

As much as he had tried to prepare for the likelihood, Rāwhiti was still disappointed that he hadn't made it onto the Gryffindor team. He knew it was rare for first years to be chosen, but still it had felt... right. He lived for Quidditch, and there were so many heroes he wanted to be like who had joined their house teams young. But competition had been fierce for Gryffindor, and it had only made Rāwhiti more determined to practice hard and make it next year. And part of practice was watching.

He had dragged Emery to the pitch so he wouldn't be alone, fair turnabout for all the gobstones games he had played with the Ravenclaw since school started. Besides, maybe if he got to know Quidditch more, Emery would enjoy it. It was kind of the same really, calculated angles and all, just in the air and with people instead. He dragged his friend into the Gryffindor section, rattling off facts about all the players on the team as he went. Rāwhiti had been reading up on previous teams strengths and victories, and he knew Slytherin were a tough foe to face. "Of course, I think Gryffindor are up to it. Lions, right?!" Rāwhiti grinned, finishing the thought he had been babbling at Emery as the game kicked off. "Oh, yes! That's Louis Alcott with the Quaffle!" He explained, pointing to the older boy and elbowing his friend. "He's a mean as player, his dad makes brooms. Lucie's the Slytherin keeper, she's way older, but Louis is a good flyer, aye..." he carried on, rattling off facts about the game and the teams as he watched.

Emery had been sure he would never set foot near the Quidditch pitch in all his time at Hogwarts. But here he was, during the very first game of his very first semester. Rāhwiti had dragged him into this, to Emery's intense frustration. But he couldn't really say no to him after they nearly missed curfew because Emery had been explaining intricate gobstones rules to him. In his defence, it had been very interesting.

To show how much he didn't want to watch this match, Emery had brought a book. He was reading it, trying to tune out Rāwhiti's ramblings. He glanced at him sideways. "How do you know all their names?" He asked with a frown. Rāwhiti had been at Hogwarts as long as Emery had, and Emery could maybe name five people by full name. Though on reflection, maybe that said more about himself.

Rāwhiti snorted at Emery's question, glancing at him. "I read old yearbooks! Plus I asked my brother, he knows Louis, and I read old school papers to learn about the games! Gotta have all the best tactics to play on the best team!" Rāwhiti felt pretty assured in his assertion, but even as he said it the pitch was proving him wrong as Lucie blocked his shot. "Nooooo!" He called out, looking on in dismay. "Just the first shot, they can bring it back.... GO GO GRYFFINDOR!" He called out, trying to get a chant going. Maybe some active support from the crowd would help bolster the lions.

Emery peeked over at the pitch as Rāwhiti yelled a loud no. He supposed it wasn't going well for the red figures. "I guess his dad making brooms doesn't mean he's a good player." He commented idly, before returning his attention to his book. "You know they can't hear you yelling, right?" He added. "And you're right next to my ear." He added under his breath.

Rāwhiti rolled his eyes at Emery's comments, shrugging off the remark about Louis entirely. He didn't even know which broom maker the French boy's father worked for, to be fair. The yelling, though. "I know they can't hear me, but if I get the whole crowd yelling it'll be awesome!" Rāwhiti grinned. "That's how sports work! GO GO GRYFFINDOR, GO GO!"

Up in the stands, Liesel almost felt as if she was flying. It was mesmerising, watching people soar through the sky on their brooms, held up by nothing except magic. As soon as Liesel knew how to fly, it would be her up there - nothing and nobody would be able to keep her feet on the ground.

Presently, however, her enjoyment was being squashed by a rising frustration. Did people have to talk to each other while they were watching the game? It was like being at the cinema all over again. Finally, when one of the boys behind her started yelling, Liesel swivelled around. "You're hurting my ears, shut up!" she snapped. If everyone started chanting, she was going to lose it.

It had been a good while since Emmanuel had been to a quidditch game, he'd gone to them regularly enough when he'd been with his extended family and still living in Nigeria, but in coming to New Zealand, there hadn't been the time yet. He arrived at the stands a little late, but went to sit in amongst some of the other students. He wasn't supporting either team, he had more friend in Gryffindor than in slytherin, but that idnd't mean he couldn't support the other. Emmanuel tried to get himself quickly up to speed on what was happening so far. it seemed Slytherin was a little ahead.

Emery winced as Rāwhiti ignored his comments and kept on shouting right next to his ear. He was seriously contemplating hitting him with his book, but then a girl in front of them turned around and yelled at him. Even though Emery agreed with her in theory, he didn't like her tone of voice to his friend. He frowned at the girl, who definitely looked familiar. She was in his house, he was sure. "Well, your voice is definitely more annoying. Maybe you should shut up." He shot at her, before putting his book up between them and pretending to read more.

Ivy had never been a big Quidditch person, but even before she and Flynn had started dating, she had often gone to his matches. She always enjoyed watching him play, though the experience was also often rather stressful. Seekers might as well be flying target signs, as far as Ivy could tell, and she hated how often Flynn got hit by bludgers. Ivy was decked out in Gryffindor colors, quietly cheering Flynn on under her breath. She let out a rather loud curse word when he was hit by a bludger, barely noticing it as she kept her eyes trained on him. "C'mon..." She breathed, hoping for him to get the snitch soon.

Tilly always loved watching the Quidditch games she didn't have to train for. Secretly, she was hoping for Gryffindor to win, as Slytherin could be knocked down a peg or two. She was still sore that they'd snatched back the House Cup last year. As one of Hufflepuff's captains, she also wanted to see what they were up against. There was the usual uproar in the stands. Tilly did her best to stay away from the chaos this time. She did wonder where their resident Quidditch protestor had gone off to- the games just weren't the same without Rosenberg.

Michael was keen to watch an actual game of Quidditch. He'd been doing some practice, he'd read up on it, but it wasn't like Hogwarts had TVs where he could watch old games or anything. He was glad that Ravenclaw were playing the 2nd game of the season so he could actually watch one from the stands - he knew he'd be watching that game from the bench instead. That didn't bother him - as much as he wanted to play, hopefully he'd have no cause to be brought in to the game as that would mean their chasers were sick or injured. He knew Slytherin had won the cup last year and were the hot favourites to win, but Gryffindor had a lot of talent, as another first year near him was explaining. He didn't really have a team to support this game, most people he'd met were Ravenclaws or Hufflepuffs and obviously he had to support Ravenclaw in the next game. He almost rolled his eyes as the girl complained about the noise. She'd obviously never been to a sports game before.

Birdie had never heard of Quidditch in her life, so when she found out that everyone was going to watch it she had no idea what they were talking. When curiosity got the best of her, she followed people to the stands and sat on a spare seat to watch. Once the players arrived on the fields, she noticed them all holding brooms and realised they were going to fly. Now she was excited. She wasn't that into sports, soccer and that, but this one she could get behind. And once the game started, it looked like a tonne of fun. She had no idea what was happening, but it looked great. Gryffindor was playing, and since it was her house, she felt obliged to support. So she crossed her fingers and hoped they would win, often cheering when the other Gryffindors did, sometimes at the wrong time, even if she didn't know what was happening.

Casper felt oddly nervous as he walked to the pitch. Tara didn't have to drag him here, he was sure he'd see her soon enough. After the fight with Lysander, Cas had been hesitant, but he'd made a new sign. This one was more generic, just a Hufflepuff banner. The first one he'd made, he'd lost himself. And by the time he'd finished it, after three days, it had been very, very, very obvious who it had been for. That sign was shoved into his trunk where no one could see. He sat quietly with his new sign, feeling insecure about being here. It probably didn't even matter he was here. No one on the team would notice. Neither of his roommates cared enough to need his support. He sighed, dejected, and just stared at his shoes. Why had he even bothered coming here?

Rosie wasn't sure she would ever be able to get used to watching Aurora play, and the worst thing about this was the fact that both her sister and her brother were playing, on different teams. She knew she was probably support Aurora a little more, but would be happy if either of their teams won. Rosie was sat amongst some of the Gryffindors, and she had a sign she could flip between, one saying go Aurora or go gryffindor and the other side was go branson and go ravenclaw. Hopefully neither of them got that hurt.

Emmanuel arrived at the stands and went to sit amongst the ravenclaw supporters. He cheered loudly for the team as he spotted them on the pitch. Emmanuel would never join the team, and he didn't feel that precious about the housing system, but he did want to support his team, and cheered loudly for them. The Ravenclaw was sure that this would be a good game, and hopefully it would be a good game and not too short.

Ever since quitting football, Harper had developed a deep aversion to most things sports. It still hurt to think about how her future in the one activity she loved most had been cut short, and so she tried to avoid anything that would remind her of her old dreams of playing professionally. But she could put aside that aversion for today. It was Gryffindor's last game of the year and Nikko's last Hogwarts game ever, and Harper felt a duty to support her friend, especially after the way this season had gone. For the second year in a row, Gryffindor would likely be fighting for third place.

As always, Harper had dressed entirely in red and gold, and she arrived early to the stands in an attempt to get a decent seat. Gazing out onto the pitch, she was struck by how many people she didn't recognise. It was just another reminder that she was getting older, that even more of her friends would be graduating this year. As she waited for the match to start, she unfurled a Gryffindor banner and cast a quick engorgio charm on it so that it quadrupled in size. Printed against a scarlet background in gold lettering were the words "GO GO GRYFFINDOR." Harper turned to the person next to her. "What do you think? Is this more eye-catching or is this—" she cast a colour changing charm so that the banner now had red lettering against a gold background "—better?"

Joshua had recently gotten the hang of understanding Quidditch games, though there were times when he was confused about the game, that was nothing usual as he was always confused about a lot of things. The boy decided to watch yet another game, in hopes of somewhat getting a better understanding of the game. He thought Quidditch was a cool sport and thought of trying it out one day. Josh made his way to the stands and looked around for a bit to see any familiar faces. He smiled as he did and quickly made his way to his friend. "Hey, dude! You ready for the game?" Josh says with a chuckle, as he got seated.

@Emmanuel Okoye

Salem could sometimes forget how exciting Quidditch games at school could be. The excitement in the air in the stands was universal and even if it was only for the 3rd place match, Salem was still keen to cheer her heart out.

She'd just gotten settled when Harper Alston unfurled a banner next to her, which Salem approved of. She'd painted her face (and her hands, but that had been an accident) for the match but a banner was always fun, especially when it was as massive as Harper's now. "Hmm, no no, I liked the red better," she said thoughtfully. "Do you need a hand?" She offered, holding out a bright crimson palm. @Harper Alston
