Summer is struck by an unusual dose of Winter Winds...</COLOR>
Please do not sign up to this game if you're not going to be active on the board during play.
This is a forum variation of the party game "Werewolf"/"Mafia".
The Story
As all the villagers gather for their Summer festival, unbeknownst to them an evil creeps amongst them. As innocent lives begin to be lost, the village must purge itself of monsters, or succumb to the werewolves' appetites.
THE VILLAGERS must find out and eliminate the werewolves.
THE WEREWOLVES must pick off all the delicious townsfolk.
How We'll Play
Signups will begin immediately and close roughly a week from now. There'll be a warning the day before they close just so you can get your last minute posts in!
Once signups are closed, every player will be sent a PM with their role in the game and, if needed, instructions on how to play their role.
There are two phases during play.
Day Phase:
During the day, players talk and discuss suspicions as well as vote for who they want to lynch that day from the village. If a majority of players vote for one person to be lynched that person dies. Dead players cannot talk during the day. You're allowed to lie all you want, but no player may at any time "prove" their role by sharing the personal message sent to them. It's all in how you talk. Tied votes result in a random number generator running its course; who knows who will die...
Night Phase:
Everybody goes to sleep - except certain players who go about business at night. Nobody should talk in the topic during night phase.
For this game, external communication by the villagers should take place at no time. All messages must be sent in the thread during the day phase. Wolves are allowed to talk amongst themselves outside of the thread.
The Roles!
[ul][li]Villager - Your only goal is to survive, and vote out any werewolves among you!</LI>
[li]Werewolves - By day, they masquerade as regular villagers, but by night they prowl, and pick off the villagers one by one.</LI>
[li]Seer - At night, the seer uses their powers of prediction to discover the role of one of the townspeople.
[li]Ghost - The ghost is a special role, assumed by the first player killed. After becoming the ghost, said player may communicate with the living once per day, only one letter at a time. They may play for either team down to their choice, and may use their powers to either sow distrust or unite the village. (The ghost may not vote in lynchings, and they are not counted as a living player with regards to win conditions - if the village is 2 werewolves and a formerly villager ghost, the werewolves win.)
[li]Bodyguard - Each night, the bodyguard stands by the side of one townsperson and keeps them safe from harm, should the wolves come knocking. The roles who affect different people each night (bodyguard and spellcaster) can't choose the same person twice in a row, so the bodyguard can't just camp someone they think is at risk. [li]Mayor - As a freely elected representative of the people, the Mayor's voice carries more weight in discussions, and their vote will be counted twice when lynchings are called for. Your role comes with responsibility - so take care making decisions!
[li]Spellcaster - A trickster of sorts, each night the spellcaster charms away the voice of one of the townspeople. The recipient of said curse may only communicate via emoticons, textless images and textless gifs for the following day cycle. The roles who affect different people each night (bodyguard and spellcaster) can't choose the same person twice in a row, so the spellcaster can't permanently shut anyone out of participating.
[li]Bonus Roles
[ul]<LI>[li]<COLOR color="darkred">Sorceress - At 12 players, the sorceress joins the village. She is on the side of the werewolves, and must be eliminated to ensure a village victory, but she does not know the identity of the wolves, nor do they know hers. Each night she casts a ritual on one of the townspeople to discover whether or not they are the seer.
[li]Cursed - At 15 players, should the wolves bite this person, the Cursed villager becomes a werewolf. The villagers not are alerted that another wolf is playing the game, the wolves are. Until this point the Cursed cannot partake in Wolf discussions.
[li]Dire Wolf - At 16 players, one of the many wolves pouring into the village will take a liking to one of the villagers, and bond with them. Should this villager be eliminated by any means, the dire wolf will pass as well. The dire wolf may not reveal their bond mate's identity to the other wolves.
[li]Hunter - At 17 players, the town's werewolf population will have grown to such large numbers that a werewolf hunter will be called in from afar to help alleviate the problem. Upon the hunter's death, be it by the wolves or the village's own hand, their quick gun hand allows them to take one other townsperson with them, for better or worse.
[li]Tough Guy - At 20 players, one of the village's beefier members becomes involved. Should the tough guy be attacked by werewolves, their sturdy constitution allows them to hang on for one more day before dying.
[li]Apprentice Seer - At 23 players, the seer takes an apprentice under their wing. Should the seer perish, the apprentice seer will step up to take their place. Until this point the apprentice will be invisible to the sorceress's spying eye, but after taking their place as the town's primary seer, the sorceress may detect them with her dark rituals.
[li]Additional Bodyguard - At 28 players, with such an enormous population, the village will require a second bodyguard to keep the people safe.
[li]Additional Werewolves - The town will begin with one werewolf, and more will flock to the feast at 7 players, 10 players, 16 players (the dire wolf), 21 players, and 25 players. They, along with the sorceress, must all be eliminated in order for the village to win.

Other Notes[ul]
[li]During the day, please make it clear who you are are voting to lynch.</I>
[li]This game is played out of character, so only one account per person. It would be best to keep this account as the one you use for the whole game.
[li]Due to time zones across the board, each phase will last about 24 hours to give everyone time to plan/plot/discuss/murder.
[li]There should be no communicating about the game outside of the thread (other than the wolves choosing who to attack). (This is a re-iterated point from earlier).
<LI>[li]<I>Special thanks goes to ElementalAlchemist from IF/ZB Support, who showed that this game could be played on a forum, has worked out a good number of kinks in it, gave us the code to generate game roles and (most graciously) let me copy his summary of each game role from his post in previous games verbatim. Many thanks! A big thanks also goes to Rowan for adapting some of the roles of the card game Werewolf, and to the HNZ admins for letting me host.[/li][/ul]
Let the games begin!
