Y45 Start of Year Feast

Savannah had to admit she was coming back to school feeling a litle more at ease. She had managed to get a job over the break which, had been good. Though she wasn't sure she'd still have the job after the break, given how the owner had been with her. But she had tried. It had made getting supplies and everything else just so much easier. So, Savannah wasn't feeling nearly as bitter about the school as she had in other years, though it didn't stop her from still having a book in front of her, and making no move to hide that she was just reading and not listening. Savannah only shifted the book a bit when the food appeared. She just had no interest in what was being said.

Fraser was excited for another year of school. Being at home was a lot of fun, the girls, his younger sisters were more and more enjoyable to be around as they were growing up. He was nervous about quidditch and how much he had riding on this year, but wasn't going to let it bother him too much yet. He knew his chances were okay. The gryffindor just had to still keep his options open. Fraser was eagerly, mostly listening to what was being said but was more relieved when the food finally appeared and he was able to just get stuck in.

Friday had not realised just how dull sorting was. She remembered vaguely being bored while waiting for her name, but the fact her name was coming had made her a little more interested in it. This time, she had just been sat there, waiting and waiting, and there were just SO many other students. She had for moment thought it would never end. She loudly groaned when the head master spoke, completely uninterested in being told more. Friday was glad when the food finally appeared. Didn't the man know they were all starving.

Enoch wanted this to just be done, to stuff food into his mouth and then go. But of course everything took time. Sorting took time and the professor took time to speak. He wasn't keen to listen to any of it, but there wasn't really any way for him to avoid it. As the food appeared he heard a young, brand new slytherin as a question. "Yeah," he replied. "If you take all of it, more will appear," he told her before focusing on his own plate.
@Morrie Ayre

Callie had been looking forward to coming back to school, she had missed doing magic and seeing magic over the break. It seemed silly that they weren't allowed to practice at all over the break. But she had dealt with it. Callie had applauded loudly for each of the new students who were sorted, not even being louder for her own house. Houses were important but not that important. It took a while, but not once did Callie falter in her applauding. Her hands were a little sore when the food finally appeared.

Helios was at Hogwarts. he was finally at Hogwarts. He was sat at the Hufflepuff table, glancing at the other students who were in his house. There were a couple of familiar faces, but he didn't know if just being friendly(ish) with people before sorting would mean anything now that they were. Helios listened intently to the head master, noting all of the things said, the heads of houses, and reminding them about what the man had said about the forest before the ceremony. Unfortunately though, Helios had been distracted with sorting and candles and he didn't remember what had been said. "What did the headmaster say about the forest?" he asked the person sitting next to him.

Apolline was a little tentative about her placement. Gryffindor. The house her mother had been in, and admittedly she was keen to be one. She just didn't want to appear too excited, in case professors and the other students would end up thinking less of her for doing that. Apolline had liked being sorted, it felt nice after so long waiting to finally have it happen. She glanced at other students, noting some of them from her daycare class. The food appeared and Apolline took some time to look at the various dishes before serving herself anything.

"Really?" Morrie, ever curious, decided to put the theory to the test. She grabbed a bowl of meatball bolognese and proceeded to empty an entire serving onto her plate. However, her hasty attempt resulted in a mess. Sauce splattered her robes, and all around where she was sitting. With a glare at the boy who gave her the advice, Morrie muttered, "I hate you," as she tried to clean up the mess.

June hoped the beginning of the year feast was not so annoying as the end of the year feast had been. She was not in the mood for annoying little brats, and it was harder to hide her irritation to certain people. And a lot of people were in her irrititation zone, perhaps even her black list in a way. Which she kept in her mind, of people who she wouldn't forget. She also had an mission to keep an eye on that Carter girl, who was getting sorted.

As she found an spot at the Slytherin table and figured to sit all the way to the front to have an close look at the first years. And also the professors and all to her. And she had seen the Carter girl getting sorted in Gryffindor. Better for her she figured not to be with her father. Who would want that to be in Hufflepuff in the first place, and than with such an head of house. The fact that two hufflepuffs were now headpeople was an suprise to her and something which she would never understand. But it seemed like Celia had blown their minds, so they wanted something boring and safe. June observed the room for an bit, before taking something to drink and eat.

Travis joined the fellow Gryffindors at the table and smiled wide. He saw that Fiona was there as well and smiled bright. He almost runned to make his way next to Fiona as they joined the others, and heard her asking what kind of food she should take. '' EVERYTHING!'' He said loud with an grin. He quickly filled his plate with lots of food, some sugary stuff but chicken as well and lots of sausages. '' This- is- awesome!'' He than said to Fiona with an grin as he put an piece of chicken in his mouth.

Noel was interested by the sorting, sitting from this point of view was new. He clapped for the new students, and perhaps even an bit harder, but secretly for the Gryffindors. The house he once was sorted in, and still had his heart. But he couldn't wait to meet all the students he would teach, and was certain it was gonna be fine. What did he wanted more? He had the woman who he loved on his side here, since she was teaching as well. And Hogwarts had always been an special place for Noel. When he saw the position, and heard it from Adorah he went for it without an doubt. He had to say goodbye to the Minister, but that was all fine. He heard her daughter was getting sorted too this year, so that was nice to watch with the outcome of Gryffindor as well.

As the sorting process was over he smiled to Adorah. And grabbed her hand under the table and squeezed it shortly. It was not that he wanted to be so open and out all the time, but it would be no secret that they were an couple. They were once both headpeople, and now back as an team. Both teaching different subjects ofcourse, since he had less qualities in Astronomy. '' Strange to be back, sitting here and not there.'' He than said with an smile meaning the Gryffindor table where the students sat. He than took an bite of an piece of chicken. The food had always been good here.

@Professor Adorah Zumwalt

Professor Kingsley sat in her usual seat looking out over the crowd. The sorting ceremony had been great fun as it usually was, and she was eager for some food as well. It had been a long day, and she realized just as the Headmaster began speaking that she'd forgotten lunch. It made it difficult to concentrate on his speech, so she allowed herself to daydream a bit, figuring there was nothing new that would come up. She was jolted hay to attention at the clapping, joining in herself, and then reaching for the bowl closest to her to serve herself before passing it along.

Enoch watched as the girl took a bowl of food and then managed to get all over herself. He snorted, holding back on his laughter at her, before frowning as she said she hated him. He had no idea what he had done to deserve that. "Cool, I hate you too," he said in response, his voice dull, and he rolled his eyes, though he toss over his napkin to her, so she'd have something else to clean up with.
@Morrie Ayre

Matt finally felt settled as Headmaster. The sorting ceremony no longer made him nervous, though he still felt a few jitters as he spoke to the whole school. It was a magical moment for a lot of the first years, and Matt was very conscious of how it was the very first impression of magic for a few of them. Matt settled down after the sorting, glancing around at his coworkers. He spotted Gabrielle nearby and smiled at her. "Ready for the new year?" He asked lightly. He had a soft spot for her, as they had very briefly been coworkers in the History Department until Matt's promotion.

@Professor Gabrielle Moncrieffe

Morrie's voice trembled as she choked back her emotions, her robes were covered in bolognese and the boy hadn't even apologised. "You're mean!" Tears welled up in her eyes, and she continued, "I'm going to the bathroom." She pushed herself up, causing a stray meatball to tumble from her lap onto the floor. Stepping over the bench, she walked briskly, almost running, towards the exit. She didn't know where she was going as she had no idea where the bathroom was.

Hazel was thrilled about this feast. It was just the cherry on top of an already perfect day. She had gotten to Hogwarts, met cool girls on the train, gotten sorted, and was now sitting in the Great Hall of Hogwarts, with heaps of delicious food at her disposal. Hazel didn't shy away from filling her plate eagerly. She looked around for someone to talk to, noticing a boy near her age nearby. She tried to wave to get his attention. "Hey, you're new too, right? Pretty sure I saw you at sorting." She told him happily. "Isn't this all great?"

@Kyousuke Kurosawa

Now that Vanity was in her second year, she felt a lot more important than last year. Firsties were stupid, especially because her sister was now one. It was pretty relieving that Briony hadn't been sorted in Slytherin, though a small part of Vanity was a little jealous her sister had gone to be with her brother. But whatever, they were both in the nerd house. Vanity wouldn't want to be found dead over there. Vanity had made sure to sit far away from June, though she couldn't resist sticking out her tongue in her direction when the older girl wasn't looking. She grabbed some food and watched with interest as Enoch told a first year that the food would reappear if she took all of it. She stared in disgust as the girl proceeded to upturn a whole bowl of food onto her plate, getting it all over herself. The girl reacted quite dramatically to something she had caused herself, and after she ran off, Vanity couldn't help saying something. "That was dumb." She told Enoch. "What a weirdo." She couldn't resist teasing a bit. "And after you were so nice to her too. Enoch and weirdo-girl sitting in a tree." She added in a sing-song voice.

@Enoch Goldewyn

Enoch had no idea that saying the same back to the girl would result in her crying and running to the bathroom. He glanced about and it seemed like only one person had noticed what had happened. Of course. Vanity. He rolled his eyes at her teasing, and just went back to getting himself some food. He didn't need to say anything, just ignoring it was better.
@Vanity Mettlestone

Adorah adjusted her head as she leaned back in her chair so her hair clip would stop stabbing her scalp. It had been a long day, and she was exhausted, but she was also trying to enjoy every minute. Teaching for the full year last year had been a whirlwind; it had taught her a lot about her lack of classroom management skills as well as the fact that she was much less confident in public speaking than she had realized. Somehow, she hadn't realized this during her temporary stint teaching, but it may have been due to her assuming she would never have to do it again. But here she was, in year two, sitting next to her boyfriend watching a bunch of eleven-year-olds begin their adventure at Hogwarts. The former Ravenclaw wondered if she'd see any of her own children there someday. Definitely not any day soon, but someday. She hadn't even thought about it until recently, mostly because she never considered herself the motherly type, but she was much more aware that she and Noel had been dating for over half a decade. Even if they were young now, she still thought about the future.

Adorah smiled at Noel as he squeezed her hand, feeling a little bit of anxiety as she looked back out at the students, hoping none of them were looking at that exact spot under the table, if they could even see it. She was trying to figure out how to navigate remaining professional and private, but she'd be daft to think most of the adults weren't already aware and that the students would figure out soon after. She took a spoonful of some roasted vegetables and nodded as Noel spoke to her. "It still feels weird this year so I wonder if it ever really goes away," she said to him, taking a bite of the vegetables. "But at least we get to sit here together. That actually feels strange, too," she joked with a laugh. They were among the youngest of the staff, and many of their own professors were still at Hogwarts. Adorah just had a hard time accepting that they were in fact adults. @Professor Noel Waldgrave

Gabrielle was a little lost in thought after the sorting, but turned to the headmaster when he spoke to her. "As much as we ever can be," Gabrielle replied, grimacing slightly. Last year had been interesting - students acting up on school trips, the whole duelling tournament debacle...Gabrielle could only hope this year was a little smoother. "Seeing...relatives get sorted makes me feel old. Not to mention new hires..." she added, nodding her head slightly towards the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, situated next to one of the other newer professors. "Feels like we need to remind them that with age comes wisdom, no?"

@Professor Matt Alcott-Ward

Demetrius gave a small smile. She seemed nice, but generally Hufflepuffs were nice. He kept forgetting that somehow. He waited for her to take the buns then put the plate back down, grabbing a couple himself. "Yeah, it wasn't too bad," he said, "nothing too exciting but sometimes that's good. Just relax a bit." Demetrius was a bit stumped for further conversation, but hoped he'd done a good enough job not to come across awkward or something. There was always that niggling worry in his mind.
@Molly Burke

Kyousuke blinked, surprised someone was talking to him. "Oh, yeah, uh, hi. I'm Kyousuke," he said, in case she didn't remember from the sorting. He definitely couldn't remember people's names and it had just happened. "Yeah, uh, it is," he said, agreeing that everything was great. He didn't quite want to divulge how new all of this was to him - how he hadn't even known about the sorting hat until another student had told him on the train. "Food's good too," he commented, though he was used to a different palate at home. It would take some getting used to, but it wasn't bad. The chicken at least was good quality.
@Hazel Ashworth

Miranda beamed at the second year who welcomed her, feeling much better already. She was going to have to write her dad a letter once she got settled but she didn't think it would take very long to feel comfortable. "Thank you so much!" she said, unable to stop smiling. "That's so nice of you! Did you like your first year?" She remembered her manners, a bit caught up in the excitement and storm of emotions, and looked a little embarrassed. "Sorry, hi, I'm Miranda, what's your name?"

A prefect. For some reason, Michael was a prefect. He had been quite surprised to see the badge in the mail. He had kind of just been coasting a bit, and although he had put some effort in, knew he could have been doing more. But he had, at least, some idea of what he should work towards, and obviously Professor Josephs saw enough potential and responsibility in him to give him a badge. So, he was going to work harder this year, make sure he lived up to the responsibility. He caught Emmanuel's eye, seeing the badge on his dormmate, and grinned. "Hey, congrats, man!" He wasn't at all surprised Emmanuel was picked, he was a hard worker and clearly had a love of history. "Guess we'll be adding patrols to the study load."

@Emmanuel Okoye

Lucy smiled back, she knew how she'd felt slightly lost her first time at Hogwarts and she hoped she could make it easier for someone else. "I enjoyed it a lot! There's so much to learn, it's brilliant. And so much to explore too, if you like that sort of thing," Lucy said brightly, deliberately not mentioning that she had had some bad encounters with other students. She wasn't about to bring that up now, not when she could be positive. "Oh, hi! I'm Lucy. It's nice to meet you," Lucy said politely but genuinely.
