Y45 Start of Year Feast

The boy's comment piqued Hazel's curiosity. "Really? What do you usually eat?" She asked him, wondering how different it was. She nodded as he mentioned how the hat had put him into Slytherin, she wondered if she was here for similar reasons herself. She glanced at the girl he pointed out. "Oh, that's a relief. One nice roommate, at least." She said with a slight smile. "I hope you have nice roommates too." She took a bite, then realized she had never introduced herself. She quickly swallowed. "I'm Hazel, by the way."

@Kyousuke Kurosawa

"I eat Japanese food a lot," Kyousuke admitted, "so it's a bit different from western food. A lot more soy sauce, for one." Kyousuke didn't really cook but he knew that soy sauce was almost always out on the bench when his Dad was cooking. "Yeah, we'll see. I haven't met any Slytherin boys yet." Kyousuke was a bit tentative about the idea; he didn't always get along with boys his age. "I'm Kyousuke," he said, introducing himself. "It's good to meet you," he said politely.
@Hazel Ashworth

Felix's emotions were all over the place. Getting the head boy badge had been a shock and it felt awkward and heavy on his robes. Sure he had his prefect's badge proudly displayed the past two years but this felt different. He felt like people were staring at him as he tried to enjoy the feast. It was his last one after all. The reality of that brought him down from his self conscious frenzy. He wanted to be in the moment and enjoy what time he had left at Hogwarts and with his sister. He was going to hate leaving Thistle again. This year would be great. He was determined to make it so, even with the anxiety around quidditch, his animagus training, and his NEWTs at the end of the year. He groaned and set his forehead against the table. He was already tired.

Margo was optimistic about this year. Hopefully her friends wouldn't start fighting the second classes started, and more quietly she was hoping to make some progress on finding her brother. She knew it was something easier said than done and in the end it might lead to a dead end. But she was remaining hopeful, even if it took more effort than she would have liked. She listened to the headmaster speak and was eager to get to the food. She was hungry after a long day of travel and the sorting ceremony always took longer than she expected. Finally the food appeared and she started to server herself. She fought the urge to look to at the Ravenclaw table for more than one reason, instead she kept her eyes on her plate.

Being back at Hogwarts felt different this year. Ethan had tried his best to put the letter from his mother far from his mind. She had made up her mind and he wanted to do the same. But if he was being honest closing that door was taking longer than he expected and it was more painful too. Ernie had been surprisingly helpful. It was like suddenly a switch flipped between them and they went form roommates to something that kind of looked like a family. It at least made him more excited for the wedding when he got home. He had a new set of dress clothes and everything. But he still had to get through the semester first. He was optimistic Professor Burleigh might let him help with the creatures for class and it was easing the sting of knowing he would be staying in New Zealand for good, at least until he graduated. It was odd feeling the need to put down roots when he was already in his fifth year but he would try.

Leah was relieved like always to be back at Hogwarts and away from her parents. Well, it was really only her mother that was driving her crazy. And while her rebellious hair cut had seemed like a good idea at the time she was feeling a little self conscious about how it barely came down to her ears. She knew it would grow back eventually but she couldn't help but want to blame her mom for that too. She was tired after a long day on the train and all she really wanted to do was go to her room curl up with Artemis and catch up with her friends. She barely listened to the Headmaster's speech. It was almost always the same thing every year. When the food arrived she dug in. Maybe some food would keep her on her feet a bit longer. She glanced towards the Hufflepuff table and wondered if she might be able to catch Chase before they had to go to their dorms.

Santiago was miserable as always as the noise in the great hall became almost insufferable. All the newly sorted kids and friends catching up wouldn't stop talking even as the Headmaster talked to them about the same old stuff he did every year. He was impatient and wanted to get out of here. He was also hungry and when the feast appeared it did lighten his mood. But just barely. He wondered if he might be able to sneak away tonight and enjoy some alone time around the castle since he doubted no one else would risk it and it wasn't like prefects were on patrol yet. At least the fantasy of wandering around empty corridors kept him from snapping at anyone, yet.

Elise could hardly believe it was happening. Her first meal at her house table. Her house. She was a little disappointed not to be with Ezra since it would have been so convenient to have him close. And she was technically sharing it with Dorian. But none of that mattered. The hat had seen into her brain and made a decision and it felt strange to be known by something she would likely never be near again. She swung her legs as she waited for the feast to begin. She was hungry but also eager to explore the castle and see the common room and her dorm. Ezra had said Ravenclaw house was up in one of the towers. The view from up there must truly be amazing. She was starting to feel a little overwhelmed by it all as the food arrived. She served herself but felt at a loss for words and instead was intent to listen to everyone speaking around her and listening in.

Tempest was perfectly content sitting with her brother as they found their way into the Great Hall. She was still kicking herself for signing up for every class just to go head-to-head with June, and she had already started reading before school even started. The end of her break had been miserable. She knew too much about her electives, and even if the context didn't quite make sense for a lot of the muggle studies stuff, Enzo was here to help her. She was unimpressed by the sorting, not really caring since she knew 0% of the first years, and went to her food once it was available. "You know, what if we studied together? Then, you can answer all my questions since you already took the classes," she said to her brother, grabbing a heaping spoonful of some potatoes and then going for some stew.

Lorenzo clapped politely for every new first year during the sorting, recognizing a few faces from his job. Having a part-time gig had been the best thing to happen to him. He had been able to meet so many new people, explore on his own, and even set aside money to start a small savings. While he did miss his siblings and their father, his mother was still keeping Tempest and him in the dark about everything. He was worried about their safety and if he'd ever see them again. At the same time, if his father was still in their house, Enzo would have never been allowed to get a job or have the freedom he had during the winter. His attending school had been such a wild point of contention, let alone anything else. As she pondered over this once the sorting was done, he listened to his sister, laughing at her remark. "I'm not doing your homework for you. I'll help, but you have to learn to do it on your own. I won't always be there."
