🌟 Another month, another spotlight! 🌟
As most, if not all, of you know we like to use the start of each new month to celebrate one of your characters that has caught our attention for one one reason or another. This could be an incredible biography, intriguing plots or a remarkable personality. Usually, it's a combination of a few factors that has left us impressed and willing to see more. Whatever the reason, a spotlighted character is one that we adore and the monthly spotlight is a great way for us to celebrate your creativity!
This month we're spotlighting June Davenport, RPed by the wonderful Jamie!
June is a relatively new character but has definitely been working hard to make her presence known
She also has a great biography, extensive relationships and a beautiful aesthetic.
As is tradition, we asked Jamie a couple of questions:
Please join us in congratulating Jamie on this month's spotlight! And if you have any questions about June feel free to ask them below.

This month we're spotlighting June Davenport, RPed by the wonderful Jamie!
June is a relatively new character but has definitely been working hard to make her presence known

As is tradition, we asked Jamie a couple of questions:
What was your initial thought when you were contacted about being spotlighted?
Wait what?!!!!!! Really??? And honered that the energy I put into this character is in some way awarded. Also I had to laugh, because of how I think June would have reacted to this.
What was the inspiration for your character?
That is a good question. Sometimes I wonder myself as well. I have an wild imagination I guess. I can't point in one way in this. So I think it's an combination of stuff. An TV show in the Netherlands which is called 'Dreamschool' gave me inspiration as well. It's about troubled teenagers with all their own story. Where you see different strategies in behavior on how to deal with stuff gave some inspiration for June. In all her siblings you see this as well. And June is the one that stays loyal to her parents during something that played out in the family and feels the responsibility to fix it.
Also from experience and knowledge in working with children/teenagers and in my studies gave me background information. The hardworking and wanting to do well mentality was based on my own.
What is your favourite RP that your character has taken part in?
Ohhh It's hard to pick! And to tell because she is only an first year. So I can't wait for what else will come and hope to say the best is yet to come. I enjoy all the RP's with her so far, and it's interesting to see how she has so many different sides. But for now for sure Sharing An Room with Tempest Vero and Astraea Vale. I enjoyed that one, it was just good fun. And I guess also To See If We Fit with Professor Misha Haden, which was the first RP I did with her and the start of her and their journey together. Also I just enjoyed the lessons with her so far.
What is your favourite aspect of your character?
I enjoy the fact that she is so full of herself. It's very funny to write. Especially in classes I just enjoy her being a know it all and the one that gets picked out again and again by professors. Also she is used to getting everything she wants (except for her parents who can't take care of her anymore) so in case she doesn't she would be very frustrated. And I'm curious when that is gonna happen in Hogwarts. Or that how she plannend it would go perfectly according plan. But either way I like it.
Your least favourite aspect?
Her two faced personality, but perhaps even chameleon personality she can have. That makes every situation different, how the reaction would be. Since she is so manipulative and tries to find every information she can get to use. Also she is not to be trusted, and very selfish and easily judge people. So she thinks cruel stuff, and is very vengeful. So June takes a lot of energy from me, because her personality, but also her ambition. But that's ok
The pleasure I get from it is bigger.
If you could meet your character in real life would you want to? Why or why not?
For sure. I would meet al of my characters. Although I would have trouble trusting her. And don't like lies and dishonesty. And I think I would find her arrogant, with how full she is of herself. But in some ways we have things in common. I am a hard worker as well and want to achieve the best what is possible. I didn't did it for the same reasons as June, but I was kind of the perfect student in school as well with high grades (although I'm not as intelligent as she is), and could get along very good with my teachers and stayed in touch. So that is funny to me. I can be kind of vain as well, but not as much as June. Also until now June get's everything she wants and is frustrated if it doesn't go her way. I kind of understand that too. I'm used to getting what I work hard for and what I want in life usually happens(not all obviously) Recently I didn't got what I wanted directly, and that led to panic. But later on I did got it. And that made me think of June for an moment. And could laugh about it.
What do you feel your strength in developing characters is?
I think creating a background story for my people. For example I just don't want a mean girl, because I want a mean girl and drama. The reason why they are mean must always come from an place or something they experianced in how they behave. So I like to think, I have a lot of characters with depth and more to it than you would first think. I guess I have a creative mind, where I can create different sort of people. And really have their own voice.
Your weakness?
I would say keep things short. So OSW is an good exercise for me. I am an overthinker and feel the need to explain all stuff. But that is not always needed. Especially with June I sometimes find that difficult since she is so two faced. Since you want to make sure her intentions are not well meant, but she is nice to someone face. Or do something manipulative but the other wouldn't know. You understand?
What would you recommend to those looking to further develop their characters?
I don't think anyone needs it. Because everyone is so talented, but if I speak from my point of view: Just go with the flow, begin with an concept and don't pin everything down already, their whole life. Let there be suprises and magic happen during an RP. Along the way you sometimes notice going in a different direction. But sometimes you do have an clear image and a way where you want to go. Making an biography helps me too, you can really think of their background and all. And if you notice things are going different than you figured, you can always edit it.
And just open some RP's, or respond to others. By doing you really just find your way. Just enjoy it!
What are you most looking forward to on HNZ in the next several months?
The second semester lessons and Yule Ball <3 I'm hoping to score much points with this girl(sorry classmates) and just let her confidence become even bigger. But overall just to more and fun RP's. Especially with professors as well.
What is your favourite part of HNZ?
The fact that it does leave something positive on you, like some magic sparkle. After an long absence I just found my way back here again. And that is something special. I didn't thought that would ever happen again. I'm very happy to be back and enjoy being on the site again with different people, stories and backgrounds. And I enjoy the inspiration from everyone the most I guess. The fact that you just have to laugh out loud when you read an RP can make your day.
