Elliot could hear vague sounds of the team moving around him, but his eyes were trained on the snitch. It fluttered for a moment after changing directions and Elliot knew he had it, not hesitating to shoot forward and scoop it out of the air with a breath of relief. He checked for Lucas, since he knew the other seeker had been chasing it too and wanted avoid a collision, before releasing it back into the sky with a content smile.
René hung back with the other chasers, glad Amy had the quaffle now, though he couldn't help but scoot closer to her when he saw Jordie take an incoming bludger from Tilly. "You okay?" he called out to the other chaser, quietly thankful it had been him and not René getting hit.
Jordie was following after the others, when out of nowhere a bludger knocked into his ribs. He yelped, looking over to Tilly with a bit of a pout. "Good shot," he yelled back, trying not to wince too visibly.
Letting the snitch gain some distance, Elliot took a moment to check in on the team, noting Jordie had just taken a bludger hit but at least seemed okay. The chasers and Linden were also doing well and Elliot was glad to have everyone back in the air for the new semester.
Content the team was alright, Elliot pulled back up, trying to get some height to see if he could find the snitch again, maybe this time before Lucas could.
René did his best not to fumble the quaffle too much as he caught it from Amy, starting to get back into the swing of flying after some time in the air. Emboldened by having one the captains with him, René took another shot at goal, hoping he could manage a hat-trick and groaning when his shot didn't go through. He supposed he could only get so lucky for so long.
Tilly felt a little bad about her bludger hit, but she hadn't been chosen to be a cheerleader. She smacked the next bludger towards her teammates. She was aiming for Elliot, except it went off course and hit @Amy Jewel instead.
Tilly hoped Connor would get some more hits in so her teammates didn't think she was the mean one. Even though she was, probably. She circled the pitch and waited for her next opportunity.
Elliot had pulled up above the pitch, watching the practice below when he caught sight of the tell-tale movement of the snitch again. He shot downwards, scooping the snitch up like a bird before it had even time to react to him, letting out a pleased laugh before letting it go again.
René wasn't hoping Jordie would miss his shot, but it did make him feel a bit better about missing his own. Flying closer, René caught the quaffle as it was thrown back out, looking around for which other chasers were open.
Elliot had already let the snitch go, but he couldn't resist reaching out to snag it again one more time as it zipped past his head. He didn't want to get cocky though, so with an apologetic nod to the snitch when it buzzed its wings in apparent annoyance, Elliot let it go again, giving it a proper chance to get away this time.
