It always felt the best to be back on the pitch after a holiday break. Elliot was distinctly aware his time as captain was ticking over, and although Hufflepuff were not exactly in the position for the cup like he would have hoped, Elliot was determined to enjoy what time he had left with the team.

"Hey guys, welcome back," Elliot said as the team had gathered, ready to get into the air. "Let's try and shake the dust off, especially our chasers and keepers. Gryffindor's play with the quaffle is no joke so we'll need to be on our guard," he said, glancing over at Amy as they got the balls ready to go. "But let's get into the air," he said, nodding to Amy so they could release the balls before kicking off, keen to get flying.

OOCOut of Character:
Let's just get straight into practicing. Our game starts next week so we'll run until then 💪

René was wary to be back playing Quidditch after over a month at home. He had no idea how Sully played so well when he couldn't really practice at home. Maybe René needed to spend more time at Brightstone over the break next year if wanted to stay on the team, though he still had his doubts if he wanted to play as chaser. But a chaser he was for now, so when Elliot and Amy started practice he didn't let himself overthink too long before moving to grab the quaffle, heading for the hoops.

Elliot spent a moment checking the rest of the team was up in the air before moving to fly higher over the pitch, eyes peeled for the snitch.

Jordie flew in the air and followed the other chaser

Seeing Jordie nearby, René fumbled with the quaffle for a moment before moving to pass it to him. @Jordan Harris

It always felt good to be back on a broom and Elliot took a moment to just enjoy being in the air before trying to really focus on seeking.

Lucas took to the air and started looking around for the snitch.

Linden headed down to the quidditch pitch ready for training. they had a hard job ahead of them he knew Gryffindor was a tough team and his fraind was the captain. he knew lysander wasn't going to go easy on him because he was a friend. he just hoped that they had what it would take to win at least one match some time.
he listened to the introduction to the training and gulped when his position got a mention. he would have to focus. there was only one of him which is why he was on the starting line up and not a substitute which he would have preferred.
he took to the sky and headed over to the rings ready to guard the hoops against the chasers and watched as @Rene Tofilau and @Jordan Harris approached passing the ball between them.

Amy helped Elliot get set up and released the balls into play. She followed after the others, watching to see if they were going to pass to her.

Lucas tried to focus on the practice, he hoped it would take his mind off things with Casper and the frustration at seeing Nikko and Connor together, he pointedly didn't look in the direction of the beater.

Jordie smiled when he was passed the ball and flew forward to try and score right away, but failed miserably. He pouted a moment before smiling easily. Oh well, maybe next time.

Linden watched the chasers bringing the quaffle towards him. he circled the hoops wondering where Jordan was going to aim. soon the ball was flying though the air a little bit wide somewhere between the hoops but linden went to save it anyway. he caught it before it passed the rings. "Good try" he called before passing the ball back into play.

Elliot started a lap of the pitch, keeping his eyes open for bludgers.

René was relieved when Jordan took the quaffle, happy to not be the first one to try and score a goal this semester. He gave Jordie a sympathetic shrug when Linden blocked his shot before awkwardly catching it again as it was thrown back out.

Lucas was flying up higher when he suddenly spotted a golden glint. He gasped and sped forward, grinning as he managed to grab the snitch. He held it up. "Got it!"

Elliot was hovering near the South hoops when he spotted Lucas tearing across the pitch. He realized too late why exactly that was and even putting on a burst of speed he was far too far away to even come close to catching up when Lucas had snagged the snitch. "Great catch!" He called, trying to focus on the idea that Lucas would make a great seeker next year for the team and not on the disappointed feeling about missing another catch.

Lucas grinned at the compliment he got, letting the snitch go and chasing after it until he lost sight of it again.

René hung back, trying to do a half-lap as he looked for a good opening to pass the quaffle. He couldn't find a good angle though and as Linden and the hoops got close he decided he'd rather miss a goal than drop the quaffle in a bad pass. He hurled it over-hand as he came closer, wobbling on his broom and grinning relieved as the quaffle sailed through.

Content the rest of the team was warming up, Elliot gave Lucas one last thumbs up before moving back to scan the pitch.

René hung back as Linden threw the quaffle back out, not wanting to mess up yet after managing to make his first shot.

Jordie caught the quaffle as it was thrown back in and flew around, looking to see if any other chasers were open.

Lucas zoomed around, grinning slightly. This was fun, almost as fun as a real match.

Tilly had wolfed down a breakfast of kippers and toast that was much more generous than it should have been. She felt sluggish and slow. Tilly took a deep breath as she hit her first bludger away from the chasers. It was nice to be back in the air again.

The sun was hot even though Elliot had tried to get the team out on the pitch before the day warmed up too much. Elliot could feel his back start to sweat as he circled the pitch slowly.

René followed along after Jordie as he took the quaffle, flinching and giving Tilly an appreciative smile as she knocked one of the bludgers away.
