Hi guys! Welcome to the first Bi-Weekly Update of 2018! I hope you all had an amazing holiday season, and are returning to us rested and ready for what Y30's about to throw at us.
Sorting and Transfers
Sorting is over! Welcome to all our new entrants! We have 88 new first years this year, so good luck to all the firsties, the breakdown is as follows;
We also have two new transfer students, both joining Ravenclaw (YAY!), We've got Cullen Yeong coming in to fourth year, and Soohye Kendall-Wu coming into Fifth Year, so good luck guys!
New Faces
This year, the staff of Hogwarts New Zealand has welcomed some new blood! Please join us in welcoming the new professors!
We have Professor Bella Matthias and Professor Sylvia Hartley; they will be subbing in for Arithmancy years 3-7 this semester, so please join us in wishing them the best of luck.
Joining the team also, will be Professor Oswin Pond, who will be teaching the lower years of Care of Magical Creatures. Welcome!

We ALSO have Professor Sarah Harrington taking over the lower years of astronomy, and Professor Archie Renner will be covering for flying this year! Good luck guys!

This time, it's shopkeepers! We've a wave of new shopkeepers, this year, so here goes; Amy Ward will be taking over Gambol & Japes, and Georgiana Night will be running Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. The Three Broomsticks will be taken over by Rhianne Clivey! Meanwhile, the Hog's Head will be under the watchful eye of Viola Clark! Best of luck guys!

Shop 'Til You Drop
So, with a huge thanks to our AMAZING admins, we've been gifted with a new shopping system for HNZ! The new system will bring back the interactive shopping rps of yesteryear, and is explained in full in this post. The shop system is now live, so get shopping, especially students as this is your first Brightstone Weekend, and your first chance to check it out!
Wait, another upgrade?
Yup, that's right, not one but two upgrades to bring us into the new year. THANK YOU ADMINS! The Quidditch Update, explained in this topic by the lovely Cyndi, is going to bring a whole new element of skill levels to the system, and will prove fun for our beaters especially. Make sure to keep an eye on the Quidditch games to see it for yourselves!
Apply Yourselves!
Applications are open again! Just a quick refresher; if your character becomes inactive, you will have to resubmit an application in order for them to return to a special group, such as the Aurors or Shopkeepers.To be returned to one of the other groups, such as Magical, a simple group change will do. ALSO, make sure to check your inbox on the character you're applying with, because sometimes the Admin will have questions about your application.
Scheduling Conflicts
So many people are coming up with fantastic new events for the site, with so many clubs and groups running activities, it is truly lovely to see such dedication. Sometimes though, scheduling means some things don't get to live up to their full potential, so to make sure your club or group activities get the attention they deserve, please run them by the admin ahead of time so they can help to find a good time to run it without any conflicts.
Please don't block us out
Okay, so we have requested this before, but adblocking is still happening on HNZ. Guyyysss, please don't block ads on HNZ. These ads belong to the site itself, they are ours, and they pay for our domains, and our third part hosting (which gives us Quidditch, the shopping system, galleons, the gradebook, all the lovely things that the admin work so hard on.) They also pay for advertising HNZ online. There's only one ad, at the top of the page, and they don't even appear on every page. Nick has made sure to block many offensive ads, and if you have a problem with any particular ad, you can let us know about it, but unblocking ads for the page is so helpful, and means that Nick isn't paying for HNZ out of his own pocket (which wouldn't be particularly fair.) I know that at times adverts can be annoying, but we all love HNZ, so please help us out on this one.
