Y49 Sorting Reactions!

Sorting is still a couple of days away, but that doesn't mean we can't have some exciting sorting chats here! It's never too early, right? As always, we love to hear your thoughts and reactions as we work through the process of sorting and transfers and exchanges! This is always such a fun time!

Are you having a character sorted or transferred this year? Maybe more than one? Ten? (You know who you are. :r)

Are you going to try for an exchange student?

Where do you think your character will end up?

Do you think they'll be happy about where they end up? How is it going to impact their first year or their entire schooling? Do you think the sorting hat will have a difficult time placing them? Any character expecting that the sorting hat won't be able to place them and they'll have to go home? :p

If you've already been sorted: Did you get what you/your character expected? Did the sorting hat say something funny to you? What'd you think of that? How nervous was your character to be sorted? How nervous were you?

Happy Sorting!

I’m sorting 4 this year (send help)

Ares Zephyr - I’ve imagined him as a Gryffindor more or less his whole life but it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up in Slytherin, too. He’s a good kid but he feels incredibly entitled, being the only boy and the youngest Zephyr, although I’m not sure how Echo would feel about sharing a house with him :r

Rouge Glass - Rouge is very outgoing, creative and naive. She likes to think of herself as strong although I think deep down she’s more reliant on other people than she realises. Again could be Gryffindor but potentially a surprise Hufflepuff.

Blanc Glass - Blanc for the most part just does what he’s told. He likes to play and has a habit of getting filthy in the process, and doesn’t really know what to expect from Hogwarts. He’s usually overpowered by his sisters and while he doesn’t mind, he will often play imaginary games with himself. Honestly I could see him as a Ravenclaw but maybe another Hufflepuff?

Rose Glass - You’d probably look at Rose and think from immediate reactions she would be the hufflepuff because she comes across sweet, but I think she’s the least likely to end up here. She’s very neat and meticulous, feels nervous that people won’t like her, and so tries to make sure she does things perfectly. I could see her ending up as Ravenclaw or potentially Slytherin, depending on how the hat goes xD

I’ve never had so many students in one sorting year that feel so flexible. Usually I have a solid house in mind for them but I don’t think any of these four would currently fit one house above the rest so I’m very curious =))

I've got two planned... could end up being a third if inspiration strikes

Asa Physwick
Asa's a bit of a people-pleaser, dependent, overly generous, recently learning better habits after being adopted into the Physwick family. The Physwicks are very creative and encourage self-expression, but Asa has a hard time letting his guard down. He's deeply interested in potions, but also chemistry. If he were a muggle, he'd be the kid with all the science experiment kits. I'm almost certain he'll be in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff!

Freddie Lagowski
Susie's younger brother. To an even greater extent than Susie, he needs everyone to know how 'cool' he is. He's got brains, but he's more likely to use them to cause trouble than to achieve good grades. I think there's a bit of mean-spiritedness in him, which stems from his turbulent upbringing. He's angry at the way his family have let him down, and less forgiving/understanding than Susie. I think he'll be a Slytherin, but Gryffindor wouldn't totally shock me either

So excited!!!

i also have four! i’m on my phone right now but when i get back to my laptop… oh boy.

I'm sorting Nessie wheeeeeee!!!

She's one of two Westwick twins..... they're back >:3 Nessie and her sister Arachne (played by Daph) are the daughters of Theodore and Zoe Westwick (neé Tsuji) and we've been excited about them forever. Nessie takes a lot after her father - she's brooding, grouchy, and obsessed with the macabre. Her walls are a mile high, and it's very difficult for anyone to actually get to know her. Nessie is only really interested in one person; her twin sister. She thinks other people are a waste of oxygen and doesn't want anything to do with them, which is a bit of a point of contention with Arachne, so I'm looking forward to see how that unfolds in a wider school environment!

My instinct is that she's going to go one of two ways - either follow her parents' footsteps into Ravenclaw, given her fascination with learning everything she can about the macabre, or her scheming, possessive ways will slide her right into Slytherin. She's going to be fairly adamant with the hat about wanting to follow her sister no matter what, but it'd be fascinating to see the meltdown that would ensue if they wound up in different houses >:3 Nessie I think has the strongest mean streak in her family, and I can't wait to unleash it!

I'm sorting one (but I'm tempted to sort two >.>)

Jun Nakamura - Professor Nakamura's son, Kyousuke's and Kanako's cousin, and a weird mix of social and bookish. He was left alone a lot as a child and hence has an active imagination. He's a bit of an artist, and loves beautiful things (there's a little Oscar Wilde in him). He's very thoughtful, in a thinking sense, and likes to think before he speaks.

Excited to meet all the new firsties!!

I, much like Claire, have two.

Juniper Veritas - She's very calm and down to earth. Her whole vibe is built around loving the nature around her and growing up by the beach. Very hippie if you will. She's also very loyal and probably honest to a fault. Shes very sunshiney and just sweet and positive. Shes the eldest of her family and yeah very excited to see how she does! I am guessing Hufflepuff (would complete my collection teheee) but honestly I am open to anything with her.

Gaia Athanasiou - Gaia well here we have the younger sister of Mania, who has been a bit of a character lmfao, she was supposed to be very quiet and sweet and just kind but turns out she's quiet alright but she can be very mean. Especially to get people to leave her alone. She likes her alone time with just her and her sketchbook. She really likes animals though, with her I at first thought she was giving Hufflepuff vibes but then I RP'd her and now i'm like idk? I am still bad at making these predictions but I'd say she could make a good Slytherin or Ravenclaw. Definitely not a Gryffindor though, she'll make sure of that! :r

WOOOO!! Sorting exciting!!! I’ll be sorting one character this year, and that’s Declan Burke! He’s the cousin of my Burke siblings and is quite a chaotic and fun lad! He’s a social butterfly and is quite keen on making friends! I have a feeling he could either be a gryffindor or a hufflepuff, but we shall see! Can’t wait to sort him!

I would love Juni as a Hufflepuff and so would her mama!

I'm only sorting Isla this year and I have a horrible suspicion she'll be the latest addition to my Gryffindor collection.

I'm only sorting Chase, and I genuinely have no idea where he's going to end up but I'm excited to find out :DE:

I might as well do this whilst I'm sitting here doing nothing so let me just;

Annika Nightray - Just Nik to most, is the kind of girl you might find sitting in the middle of chaos with perfect composure, eating chocolate-orange ice cream like it’s the only thing that matters in the world. She's a self-proclaimed connoisseur of comfort, control and casually not caring and she's got all the elements of the typical spoilt rich girl, but not in the in the loud, bragging kind of way. In the “I’m not spending my money because that’s how you stay rich” way. Which is ridiculous for an eleven year old. I wouldn't say she's lazy though, more strategic, because she prefers to let her older brother pay for everything - in the vain that if he doesn't pay for it she's going to walk out of whatever stores she's in regardless. It's gotten her into trouble once or twice. She doesn't tend to rush into anything, and she doesn't often see any reason to panic or waste energy on something unless it's really worth it. She's just smart enough to see through dramatics and just bold enough to ignore rules that don't make logical sense to her. After all, if her brother can do it, so can she. She's polite when she wants to be and indifferent when she doesnt, and she tends to be quietly calculating under her calm exterior. She's not rude, but she does believe in selective generosity. She wouldn't share her ice cream with you, but she'd pull out a chair and invite you to it. That's just manners. Nik lives in the in-between: not the most exceptional Nightray sibling, not the loudest, not the golden child - but certainly not invisible. She moves through the world quietly, observing everything, keeping her coins (and thoughts) close, and always - always - finishing her ice cream first.

Verdict: I'm feeling Slytherin, but I could see Gryffindor.

Marina Vortalis - there's a fine line between quiet obedience and quiet rebellion and that's the line where Marina generally lives. on the surface she tends to seem like the kid who follows all the rules, reserved, well-behaved, and unassuming all things considered; but underneath that quiet exterior is a sharp wit, fierce independence and a girl who's learned how to carve out tiny pockets of freedom for herself in her own way where no ones watching. she's really observant, thoughtful and she tends to keep to herself in most public places, not because she's shy, but because she's cautious - used to keeping her world small and safe for herself and her younger siblings. She doesn't tend to trust easily due to her background (her mother isn't around) but she's not really unkind. when she does speak, it's usually dry honesty or blunt enough to catch people kind of off guard. She doesn't mean to be rude, but she has a really low tolerance for pretence and she doesn't see the point in sugarcoating a lot of things. however despite her tendency to stay in the background, she's always analysing her surroundings, sizing people up, listening in on conversation and tucking information away for later. this runs into her sense of responsibility, especially when it comes to her siblings. Marina is the kind of girl who will say she doesn't care - and then still show up every single time. she's clever and resourceful, and enjoys her small indulgences that she can take for herself in peace. Her tastes are a little odd, her humour a little dry, and her emotions carefully folded behind a wall she only lets a few people see over. But if you earn her trust, she’s loyal in a way that matters.

Verdict: I'm also feeling Slytherin for Marina, but I wouldn't be surprised if she got Hufflepuff

Lewis Edogawa - the previous baby of the edogawa family and now recent older brother, lewis is the son of professor Conan Edogawa and Tengu Coach Taylor Blare. he's a chatty and curious kid with a boundless love for all things quidditch (much like the rest of his siblings) with a bit of a bad habit of accidentally getting underfoot. he's not especially quiet, in fact, once he gets going, especially about his favourite quidditch team, or a brilliant broom manoeuvre, it can be very hard to shut him up. he's always full of questions and he has stream of consciousness thoughts that can throw people off pretty easily. he has that youthful confidence that means he pretty much considers himself invincible. (as you do when you're like 12) he's not immune to things getting tense or weird though and when that happens his energy tends to fizzle into confusion. lewis thrives with active and fun environments and he's no stranger to the air. he likes to be involved in whatever capacity that entails. he's generally his happiest when he's got a broom in his hands, flying loops, reenaticing iconic quidditch plays, and he wants to be a part of things, even if he doesn't always know how to help. he can get frustrated when he's told to sit down or to stay out of the way. he does try though - mostly. ultimately, lewis is loyal and warmhearted, and he has a lot of spirit. he's a little clumsy, but that doesn't matter when he's not on the ground and he has an endless love of quidditch, and flying specifically. he might not always understand what's going on around him, but he cares deeply - and that shows.

Verdict: I'm seeing Gryffindor for him, but I wouldn't be disappointed by any options

Taylor Davids - she's pure motion, constantly moving, tapping, shifting. sitting still feels like a punishment for her really. she tends to thrive in the middle of chaos, and she's quick to act and even quicker to think. she tends to get a bit impatient when things drag out or when people overthink. she's impulsive, the kind that doesn't like to wait to make a choice or decision but its all driven but a sharp need to move and an open heart. she's willing to share with anyone, her food, her thoughts, her notes and mostly without a second thought. she doesn't generally care who you are, as long as you're someone and you're preferably interesting or kind (or both). with a doctor for a dad and a muggle nurse for a mum, she's grown up mostly in the muggle world and this has definitely impacted her perception of the world. she's grown up around the urgency and care and the occasional chaos of people who are in need. it's taught her to move fast, stay calm and always notice when someone is hurting or needs help. (especially if they don't ask for it) she's not trying to be a hero, but she is the kind of person who offer her coat in the rain and act like its not big deal. she's got a quirky kind of vibe and marches to her own drum. she loves the strange and unexpected and she doesnt care much for rules as long as she can do something that matters. she's always buzzing with ideas and she loves to try new things.

Verdict: Probably Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, it would really depend on her helping vs being driven I think.

Woooo sorting!! This is the most unprepared I've felt for a new year probably ever x_x

But I am very excited for my girl! Just sorting one like usual and this year it's January. She is an absolute ray of sunshine and is very bubbly and a total people pleaser. She's a bit of a perfectionist or at least holds herself to a very high standard. She's also ever the optimist and always looking on the bright side of things, but rarely grants herself that kind of grace. She has a little sister and she is very defined by being the Big Sister so she probably comes off a little bossy at times. She can be quite whimsical and playful and a little naive. She also loves astronomy and divination.

All in all she feels very Hufflepuff which would be my 3rd current student in that house which is....a lot in one house for me. I would absolutely love for her to surprise me! I could see a little of every house in her if I squint so we'll have to wait and see what the hat says!

I'm sorting one this year.
Priyanka Bakshi is Vikram Bakshi's little cousin who is excited to start studying at Hogwarts. She is a fun-loving, friendly girl who is passionate about dancing and music.

I don't even know in which tower she might be, everything seems to be that she might be: Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff.

puts it off forever because i can't find a gif and have to settle for a still image welp

Here's my boy, I've had him in mind for a little while now (and he actually showed up very briefly in something I wrote for Yuelia in the fanfiction section, just wasn't named) but took my time to actually get him made. He's a foundling with a clearly over the top name and I think he'll be interesting. He's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder and some ambition that could lean him towards Slytherin, but I also think his compassion for those seen as 'lower status' and his strong sense of justice could just as equally tip him towards Hufflepuff. Personally I kind of hope for that because I like unconventional Hufflepuffs and my only remaining one is going into 7th year, but I guess we'll see.

I have the other half of this duo this year: Arachne. I find it funny that as Nessie is one of the meanest in the family, Arachne is a lot milder. She's more of a mix of both her parents (and is also a bit like her cousin Augustus) and has a big fascination with other people. I wouldn't call her super sweet or anything, but she's not mean. She is, however, very weird and socially awkward.

I am very curious if the girls will stay together or not. For Arachne I could also see Ravenclaw, which I think is most likely, but I could see a Hufflepuff to her as well. Despite her misgivings, she's very loyal to her sister (though her secret shame is that she sometimes wonders what it'd be like to be in a different house, don't tell her) but she also wants to perhaps make *gasp* friends. So curious to see where they'll go!

Just finished Freddie's sorting form/RP, and I still think he'll end up in Slytherin, but Hufflepuff wouldn't totally shock me either?! The other two houses would be a big surprise but I've been surprised before :teehee:

Gaia's form and RP definitely was far more vile than I thought she'd be :r I swear she has a nice side to her but my bet is on Slytherin. :D

Sorting form done! Now hat watch begins!

I still think Hufflepuff is the most obvious answer but I still do see a little of everything in her. Very excited to see where she ends up!

After writing her post I think she's definitely a Ravenclaw, but there's still a small chance for puff.

I'm no clearer after his sorting form but instead some slight Ravenclaw popped up. I think he's probably going Hufflepuff but he could still go Slytherin (or Ravenclaw), we'll see.

I'm fully expecting Hufflepuff I think, but he could potentially make it to Gryffindor

I caved and I'm sorting a second (future me is going to be so annoyed) - Ivara Caldwell. The most important thing about her is that she loves frogs. She loves frogs more than anything. At any given moment, she'd rather be with frogs or reading about frogs. But she's also terrible at emotional regulation and is very impulsive. After filling in the form I'm sensing Ravenclaw or Gryffindor?

Still pretty sure Jun will be Ravenclaw but we'll see.
