Y37 Hufflepuff Practice S1

Elliot was carefully scanning the pitch when he heard someone call out to him, glancing down to see Linden trying to get his attention. "What do you think you need to improve on? Right now I'd keep an eye on the chasers-" He started, giving Linden a sheepish look as Lillith managed to score while they'd been talking. "It's a tricky position, you need a lot of patience," He said, giving Lillith a thumbs up. @Linden Cullen

Connor stayed close to Lucas's side, keeping an eye out for bludgers to protect the younger boy.

Once Elliot was hopeful Linden was good, he resumed scanning the pitch, hopeful that he'd actually be able to catch the snitch when he spotted it again.

Tilly winced as her latest bludger crashed into @Elliot Briar. The poor guy had already taken one hit. "Sorry, Cap!" she shouted. Tilly hoped she would be as successful at hitting the opponents in their first game of the season.

Connor winced as he saw Elliot hit again, a little guilty that he had been protecting the other seeker. He glanced at Lucas before deciding to stay put for now, sticking with the younger seeker to protect him.

Elliot's head had been turned, so he hadn't even noticed the bludger until it was too late, his broom spinning from the impact as he just focused on hanging on. He spent a few moments catching his breath, the combined pain from two bludgers ratcheting up and making his head pound. Taking some deep breathes, Elliot tried to focus back on the game, hoping to shake it off so he could actually manage a catch before practice ended.

Amy hung back for a little, watching the others joke around. She winced as Hunter was hit by a bludger. The beaters had been doing well, and she hoped they could do the same in their first game. She waited to make sure Hunter was okay, before flying up towards Abian, waiting to see if he would pass or if she could steal it from him.

Still trying to shake off the pain from the second bludger hit, Elliot resumed his lap of the pitch, his thoughts unfocused. There's been a few other bludger hits with the team, which was great for their new beaters, but he wondered if they should call a time out so they could have a quick break.

A few laps around the pitch were helping Elliot feel a bit better, even if the snitch still eluded him.

Tilly smacked a bludger to the opposite end of the pitch. She was glad not to clobber one of her teammates.

Hunter flew towards Abian waiting if he was going to pass or if he could steal the quaffle from him. It seemed like Amy also had the same idea as she seemed to be waiting for the same as Hunter was.

Elliot scrubbed a hand down his face. He was starting to feel tired, but he knew it was important they got a decent amount of practice in with their first game being agains the reining champs. He had to try not to get too discouraged. At least the chasers and beaters were working well together.

Connor hesitated before finally leaving Lucas's side, flying across the pitch to return to Elliot's instead. The captain wasn't looking his best after taking a couple of hits, and he wanted to do what he could to protect him.

Elliot gave Connor an appreciative smile as he pulled up to fly near him, startled when he caught a sign of movement as he turned his head. Turning quickly, Elliot took off after the snitch, determined to catch it this time.

Connor was startled when Elliot swerved suddenly, pulling his broom around to chase after the seeker, hoping to keep him safe from any incoming bludgers.

Elliot tried to keep up as the snitch zig-zagged across the pitch. Not for the first time today, he felt one too many steps behind it to truly keep up.

Abian flew up to the hoops with the quaffle, throwing it at the middle hoop and grinning as it went through.

Lucas was starting to feel a bit bad about not getting the snitch yet, but at least Elliot hadn't caught it yet either. That made him feel a bit better.

Connor zig-zagged after Elliot, wincing as he saw a bludger heading straight for the seeker. He sped up to catch it, striking it hard with his bat and sending it straight into @Amy Jewel. "SORRY!" Connor cried out, a little surprised such a haphazard shot had hit anyone.

Tilly advanced on a bludger and slammed it towards her teammates. Thankfully, everyone was able to dodge it. She'd done enough damage today. A queasiness raced from her stomach and up through her esophagus. Somehow, she managed to hold it down.

Before Amy could steal the Quaffle, Abian got a goal. She looked towards Hunter to see if he would catch the Quaffle as it was thrown back into play, but didn't see the bludger heading towards her. She felt it though. She gasped for air, before saying to @Connor Holland,"It's okay. Good shot!"

Hunter grabbed the quaffle after Abian scored. He was about to pass it to another chaser nu then Amy was hit by a bludger but after checking that she was alright he continued flying until he found someone to pass the quaffle.

Elliot snaked after the snitch, eyes trained on it. Distantly, he was aware of an approaching bludger, almost hesitating so he could dodge it when he remembered Connor was right behind him. Hoping he wasn't about to be in for an unpleasant surprise, Elliot trusted Connor to defend him, moving all his focus on the snitch. He heard the telltale sound of a bat connecting with a bludger right as his hand closed around the snitch and Elliot was flooded with relief. "Thanks, Connor, I owe you one," He said, catching his breath.

Connor's face split into a broad grin when Elliot managed to catch the snitch, and his grin brightened even more when the seeker praised him for the help. "Thanks!" He said cheerfully, but his smile sunk as he saw the other bludger behind Elliot, on a collision course for his head. He grabbed his broom and shot around the captain, catching the bludger with almost no time to spare. He had been aiming vaguely for Lucas, but the shot whizzed straight past him and struck Abian instead. "Sorry!" Connor called out instinctively, face flushing.
@Abian Hunter

Elliot returned Connor's smile, releasing the snitch and double-taking when Connor's smile faded. He flinched hard as Connor whipped around to knock away another bludger, letting out another sigh of relief even as the bludger slammed into Abian. "Wow Connor," He said appreciatively. Taking a moment to take stock of the team, Elliot pulled out his whistle, blowing on it to get everyone's attention. "Hey, great work everyone, let's take five and get some water, and then we'll get back onto the field," He said, drifting towards the ground. The team was working amazingly, but everyone had taken a bludger or two by now and they probably needed to catch their breath as badly as he did.

OOCOut of Character:
Just using this as a chance to "reset" everyone's bludger hit count. In an actual game, if a player is hit 3 times by a bludger, they are knocked out of the game, but this is practice so we can do what we want :r. Feel free to RP taking a break or not if you want and get back to posting. We still want to keep the practice running a bit longer, though so keep up the great work, everyone
