Name: William Wharariki Kaimarama
Meaning: William - Resolute protector, Wharariki - Mountain flax
Birthdate: 12 February 2035
Zodiac: Aquarius
Strengths: Witty - Clever - Humanitarian - Inventive - Original
Weaknesses: Stubborn - Unemotional - Sarcastic - Rebellious - Aloof
Being an Aquarius born on February 12th, your charm, impulsiveness and romantic nature define your personality. You have always noticed that people seem to gravitate to your unique charm and warmth, which explains for your wide range of friends and admirers. In all aspects of your life, you display passion, albeit of the impulsive variety. As a result, you have a long list of interests and hobbies. You take the same spontaneous nature to your romantic relationships, as you can quickly fall in and out of love.

Hometown: Te Anau, New Zealand
Birthplace: Te Anau, New Zealand
Blood Status: Mixed
Wand: Knotted 15 Inch Rigid Yew Wand with Billywig Stinger Core

Length: A little on the longer side of things, wands of this length are slightly more uncommon and not easily forgotten by others.
Style: The knots of this wand's original wood remain clearly visible - earthy, this style of wand is perhaps most traditional and closest to nature.
Wood: Yew wands are extremely powerful in both the dark arts and in battling against the dark arts: good and evil, life and death - the wand's wood straddles the in-between carefully and it is the wielder that draws it to one side or the other.
Core: Billywig stingers make for temperate cores, but they are mildly useful when used to heal. Wands with this core tend to what they want to do, making them good for people who are flexible in nature.
Flexibility: Rigid: A difficult wand to control and sometimes broken under little force, but powerful in a fight.

Hogwarts House: Slytherin

Hair: Short and black, very thick. Sometimes forms slight waves when it gets long but otherwise relatively straight.
Eyes: Dark brown.
Build: William is quite plump, and average height for his age.
Complexion: Warm brown, with a slight tendency towards acne.
Style: William keeps it casual most of the time, and a lot of his hiking/camping gear has found its way into his everyday clothes.
Distinguishing Features: William's hands are quite calloused for his age, from years of hiking through the bush.
Playby: Tia Taharoa Maipi (Formerly Julian Dennison)

mljwYlr.png

Personality: To most people, William is a charismatic jokester, always teasing people and pulling pranks. His jokes have a slight tendency to go overboard and wind up hurting others, but it is always brushed off as just William going a little too far. In reality, his comedic exterior hides his deeper insecurities. William sees himself as less talented and interesting than his younger siblings, and has always picked on them to keep his place at the top of the heirarchy. This behaviour often leaks over to his social life, and he has a tendency to slightly bully people he likes or is intimidated by, all under the guise of being a fun, funny jokester.
Strengths:
-William has a quick and sharp sense of humour, and can generally think of a funny response to any given situation. His ability to improvise also extends to other situations, and he can think quickly in a crisis.
-Despite his insecurities, William cares deeply for the people around him, and if they were to be threatened by anyone other than him would defend them with everything he has.
-William is a fast learner, and takes to new skills very quickly.
Weaknesses:
-Despite any evidence he recieves to the contrary, William always sees himself as less skilled and competent than people around him. He has very little confidence in himself and his abilities, and doesn't believe he can accomplish much without first tearing down people around him.
-William has a relatively short temper, and will lash out rather than solving problems by talking about them.
-William struggles a lot with communicating on any level other than joking.
Hobbies:
Hiking and Camping - William's parents jobs have meant that he and his siblings grew up spending a lot of time in the bush, and William is a skilled and experienced outdoorsman.
Role-Playing - William's family like to entertain themselves while in the bush by playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, usually led by William's youngest brother Sebastian.
Swimming - William enjoys swimming, and though he has had no formal lessons swims in the lake near their house quite often.

Personality Type: INTP (The Logician)
The Logician personality type is fairly rare, making up only three percent of the population, which is definitely a good thing for them, as there's nothing they'd be more unhappy about than being "common". Logicians pride themselves on their inventiveness and creativity, their unique perspective and vigorous intellect. Usually known as the philosopher, the architect, or the dreamy professor, Logicians have been responsible for many scientific discoveries throughout history.
Strengths: Great Analysts and Abstract Thinkers, Imaginative and Original, Open-Minded, Enthusiastic, Objective, Honest and Straightforward
Weaknesses: Very Private and Withdrawn, Insensitive, Absent-Minded, Condescending, Loathe Rules and Guidelines, Second-Guess Themselves.

History: William's parents conservation work means that William's upbringing has always been a relatively wild one. Homeschooled alongside his younger siblings, William has spent more of his youth in the bush than the cities. A tight-knit family, Wiliam has always been closer to Maddy and Sebastian than any of his non-family friends from the local area. Growing up in the bush, William developed a deep reverence for nature, and all its beauty. At the same time though, he began to notice his younger siblings surpassing him in areas, Maddy's natural leadership and Sebastian's gift for storytelling outshining him. Not wanting to lose what he saw as his place, William began lightly teasing his siblings, putting them down in subtle ways, generally funny enough to be passed off as jokes rather than seen as bad behaviour. Building on this, he began to build a niche for himself as 'the funny one' while also retaining his relative superiority as oldest sibling.
Health: William is in very good health, and has no allergies.

dv1O4Zf.png

Goals: To be seen as important and special.
Fears: People seeing him the way he sees himself.
Secrets: Although how much he loves them is public knowledge, William keeps secret how much he also resents his siblings.
Regrets: Not being more confident, or creative.

Favourites
Colour:
Red
Food: Sausages
Smell: The bush after a rain, or charcoal on a barbecue.
Music Genre: Acoustic
Animal: Kea

As excited as he had been to step out on his own and forge his own identity, moving to Hogwarts without his siblings turned out to be a nightmare for William. Contrary to his dreams of making mountains of his own friends immediately he wound up fairly isolated, only really connecting with Abian Hunter and outright making enemies with several of his own housemates. Fibbing to his siblings, William pretended desperately that everything was going just fine at school, doing his best not to think of the consequences when Maddy joined him next year.

It felt like there was a hole in the middle of William as he followed his classmates into the castle. He felt like he had been in a daze since the moment he stepped on the train. Everything he had ever known, everyone he had ever loved, it was all behind him now. He had to live in this place, alone for a whole year. Thinking about it at home, he had cherished the chance to build his own reputation, with neither of his more talented siblings around, and he was sure that feeling would return in time, but in the brief moments that he was getting used to being truly alone for the first time, William missed his siblings desperately. He had never been so far from home in his life, surrounded by strangers. Not wanting anyone to see his upset, William shoved his hands in the pockets of his uncomfortable robes as he followed the rest of his yearmates through the halls, sticking close to the boy he had met on the train. Abian was a little weird, but at least William knew someone now, which meant he was hopefully a leg above the rest of the kids in their year. Hopefully he had made a good impression on Abian, and the other boy would think he was impressive, and with some luck even tell people about the cool guy he met on the train.

Following the rest of the class into the Great Hall, William looked around from under his fringe. The sheer quantity of people watching them was mind-boggling. Mum and Dad had described how sorting worked, but actually being in this room it struck William for the first time just how horrible an experience this was. The thought of sitting and being judged in front of so many people all at once was horrible, and since the moment it was mentioned the entire concept of this hat had been horrific to him. William worked hard to keep his thoughts private, to make sure nobody knew why he was doing the things he did, and the thought of some magic hat digging through all his most private feelings and fears was terrifying. William was so busy worrying what this awful hat would find that he didn't realise Abian was moving until the boy had stepped back, right onto William's foot. "Ow!" William snapped, stepping backwards and giving Abian a sharp glance, too stressed to conceal his annoyance with a joke like he usually would. "Watch it!" Scowling, William looked back over at the hat, trying and failing to listen to its song. He didn't really care, ultimately. The names went by much faster than William had hoped, and when the list got to the K-s a chill ran through him.

"Kaimarama, William."

William had never been in a situation he felt like he couldn't talk his way out of before. Usually when he was scared he would joke and mock until things changed in the way he wanted them to. But there was nothing William could do here, and every instinct in his body was telling him to just run. To run, and run, and never let this hat know what kind of person he really was. Maybe it wouldn't put him in a house at all. There wasn't a house for people like him. It would tell him this was a mistake, the letter had been meant for Maddy and he wasn't wanted, tell him to go home, ask for his siblings instead. William felt rooted to the spot, until people around him started looking for the person who had been called. It wouldn't do for his first impression at school to be the boy who was too scared to face the sorting hat. One way or another, eventually they would find out who had been called. There was nowhere to run. So, stiffly, painfully, William made his legs start working, doing his best to look as unaffected as he could as he made his way to the stool. He had never felt so watched in his life as he sat down, struggling not to look at the thousands of faces staring at him. Nerves peaking in him, William couldn't hold back a small, startled jump when the hat covered his eyes, laughing nervously. "Who turned out the lights?" Even William could hear the nerves in his voice but the joke had been almost involuntary, spilling out of him as a reflex against everything overwhelming him right now. Alone in the darkness of the hat there was nothing to do but to wait, sit in silence as this thing picked through every fiber of who he was as a person, discovered how useless and cruel he really was, all the reasons William knew nobody would like him if they really knew him, everything he had struggled to keep hidden. Until now.

In second year William kept his head down, annoyed that he hadn't made many friends before his sister arrived at Hogwarts. He watched Maddy resentfully as she did exactly what he had feared, making dozens of friends all of her own. He spent plenty of time with his sister though, showing her around the forbidden forest when they had free time.

William entered his third year determined to make the best of his situation, and make some friends who weren't Maddy's friends. He achieved this, sort of, with Vader Hume, but otherwise mostly managed to make enemies. After spending most of the year running around the forest with his sister, William was shocked when he met a girl who caught his eye on his summer holiday. After returning to Hogwarts, Wiliam gathered his courage to finally act on his growing feelings for Abian, and sent the boy a pink rose. To William's dismay he got nothing back, and his hopes only sank lower when Abian asked him for advice about the two pink roses he had received, leaving William bereft.

Beginning his fourth year at Hogwarts, William had decided this was going to be a good year. He was going to put his worries aside, and be confident for the first time in his life. Forget what anyone else thought. The year got off to a great start as he got to watch one of his worst enemies getting dumped on the Hogwarts Express before even arriving at school. Getting out of his bubble and making real friends for the first time ever, William felt like he was finally starting to fit in at school, something he had never expected to happen. He also enjoyed having his full family at Hogwarts more than he had expected, happy to show Seb around the forest together with Maddy. Feeling more confident and happier than ever before, William even made up his mind to finally make a move on Abian, crushed when instead he discovered he had been beaten to the punch by a Gryffindor girl in their year.

William's fifth year was a quiet one. Though he was over his crush on Abian at long last, William found himself at a lost end, not knowing where to go next in life. He kept his head down for the most part, participating as little as possible in school life, and avoided most social engagements as he healed his bruised feelings over Abian.

William was frankly shocked to learn he had been made a co-leader of the Wild Patch after years as a member of the club, insecurities flaring at the thought of being in charge of something. He did his best though, focusing on the club and his studies. During the summer holidays before his 17th birthday, William decided to put his skills to the test, and spent a week out in the bush by himself, surviving only off his wits. The excursion went better than he had expected, and William returned to Hogwarts with a newfound confidence, having now proven that even if he had nothing else, he could really get by on his own merits.

Graduation. Already. It felt like somehow both only yesterday and a hundred years ago that William had arrived at Hogwarts, frustrated at the restrictive life trapped inside a castle. He had grown fond of this place over time though, and there was no denying he had grown up a lot. No longer the insecure, self-hating child he had arrived at school as. He had met people he never would have met otherwise, had experiences that shaped him into the man he was now, and learned plenty of skills that would carry him forward into adult life. William felt... ready for today. Almost. It was hard to pay attention to the speeches but he did his best, particularly for Vader's sake. He chuckled softly when the Gryffindor asked them to get together for a photo, leaning in and posing with the rest of the class. He felt a small pang of nostalgia as he realised he might never see Vader again, unless life pushed them together somehow. He had grown fond of the jumpy Gryffindor, and wondered if he should.... send him an owl or something, so they wouldn't lose touch.

But it wasn't long before there were more pressing things to think about. It was time to graduate, once and for all, and William steeled himself as names began to be called. This was really going to happen. School was over, once and for all. He stood when his name was called and adjusted the kākahu around his shoulders as he made his way to the stage, trying not to let his nerves show. It felt surreal, accepting the diploma with one hand and shaking the headmistress's hand with his other. Like a moment that was happening to someone else. But he was here, this was real, and now it was official. His time at Hogwarts was over, and William had graduated. He returned to his seat still feeling surreal as he watched the rest of the ceremony. It was all onwards from here, out into his future in the adult world.
