Open Three-Legged Race

Landon was a little nervous for what they had organised. He was hoping the students would like his contribution to the race, especially since it would be their first obstacle they would have to go through. The man stood at the sidelines as they started off the race, cheering everyone on as best as he could. He didn't care who won, as long as everyone was having a good time. When the first team made their way to the first obstacle which he had put together, Landon thought some words of encouragement could get them through it. “You can do it!” he exclaimed, clapping them on.

OOC: First obstacle is a chocolate pudding mud pit! Swim your way through it or eat your way through it - totally up to you!

despite being taller than some of the younger students sky and keeping good speed it seemed youth did advantage over stride. And while they weren't falling behind they were not near the front. "in, out, in, out, ind, ud, in out she muttered as they built up speed focusing on the words and the steps and not on anthting else that may want to cross her mind. "it looks like we are about to find out" she said as they reached a mud pit. "I guess we go in" she said. stepping into the pit. it unfortunately was slightly deeper or slippyer than she expected an she lost her footing and fell. a splatter of mud fell across her face. and she realsied something "Chocolate" she said licking her lips and struggling to get up.

Gregory was trying his best, ”I am” he replied lightly, quietly, not wanting to speak any louder in case it upset Cassius further, and really he just needed to focus. They were at the first obstacle, which was a mud pit of some kind. Gregory just tried to focus, but the minute they were stepping into the mud pit, Gregory's free foot slid out from under him, and he was falling over again. This was going terribly. All he could think as he started going.
@Cassius Styx

Emmanuel was very happy as they got started, he was sure that they would be able to win if they just moved quickly, they weren't the last ones, but they weren't in first yet. He just kept pushing forward, hitting what he felt was a good rhythm until they came to the first hurdle. It seemed to be a mud puddle but not necessarily mud. He wanted to keep moving quickly but instinctively began to work a little more slowly. "This is rather gross," he commented with a little chuckle.
@Joshua Lynch

Charging forwards with Felix, Thistle's eyes widened in delight as she saw the first obstacle. Mud had never bothered her, and she was hoping it would put off any more squeamish competitiors. It wasn't until they got close that she realised this wasn't mud at all, but... chocolate? "YUM!" Thistle yelled, eating a few mouthfuls as she swum through the pudding with Felix at her side.
@Felix Carnahan

Rāwhiti was enjoying the race just as much as he had hoped, and the first obstacle came as an exciting surprise. "WOOO!" He yelled, charging into the mud with his partner. He was surprised to find it wasn't mud at all but chocolate, and though the slippy texture was difficult he made his way forwards, eager for the win.

Anisha was sure they had this in the bag, things were going great. She kept on walking in step with Raafe, keeping up their rhytmh. But it wasn't long before they were at the first obstacle. Anisha saw the mud pit and her mind raced as they approached rapidly. She grimaced. "We have to go through it." She told Raafe. She tried her best to keep their rhythm going, but it was a lot harder in the slippery... mud? It smelled like chocolate. Was it.. pudding? Anisha pulled a face. "Ew." She hissed under her breath as her foot slipped to the side. Whoever had thought of this was an evil genius0

@Raafe Khatri .

As if! Seraphiel was no snitch. He opened his mouth to say so but found it was quite difficult to talk and keep in time with Aine's step. Since winning the race was more important, he focused simply on their steady forward progress. It was harder than it looked; every step Sera took with his bound leg gave him the sensation that he was about to trip over. So when he plunged into the mud-pit, it was not surprising that he fell straight on his face. Eugh! This was the weirdest mud he'd ever fallen in. And why did it smell sweet? Sera tried to peel himself up, but his trainers struggled for purchase in the slippery puddle. "Aine, help me!" he said. "Or... crawl!"

@Aine Thompson

Renata stumbled a little as they reached the mud puddle, wincing as they both landed in the mud. That was pretty gross. Though, as Sky said it was chocolate, Renata licked her lips and sure enough, it was. "Oh, that's not so bad," she replied, cheerfully, tilting her head upright to free her mouth. "It'll give us energy to keep going!" Optimism was always key, after all. She didn't think her waistline would like it though, nor did eating something people were running through sound super appealing, and she shifted her arm to under Sky's, forcing herself as upright as possible and pulling her friend with her. Maybe they'd have to make some on a small scale later. She used her free arm to try and pull herself forward, wading through the puddle as best she could. She couldn't say that she'd ever experienced anything like this before, but if there was one thing Renata could do, it was force herself to keep going. She tried to say something encouraging, but her mouth was rather full of chocolate incidentally. The benefit to being taller that most of the competitors - they were able to keep their eyes and noses relatively free.

@Niamh Eriksen

Josh wanted to win so bad. He tried to go as fast as he could, but not too fast so that Emmanuel could keep up. He kept going at the rate he thought was good and then they made it to the first hurdle. Josh got the smell of chocolate when they arrived at the hurdle. He thought that the chocolate mud hurdle was a little strange. "Very, very gross," Josh said as his face turned into distaste. Though as they were making their way through the hurdle, his foot managed to slip a little a few times, luckily he hadn't managed to fall over at this stage of the race just yet.

@Emmanuel Okoye

Evie was glad her partner seemed to be having fun too. When they made it to the first obstacle the girl beamed when she realised it was chocolate, deciding to eat a little of it as they wade their way through it. Some people around her found it gross, but the girl found that amusing, knowing that would hopefully give them an advantage.
@Raawhiti Te Rangi

Aine yelped as she was pulled down into the mud, ineffectually trying to hold Seraphiel upright. She winced as the mud hit her face, trying desperately not to get it in her mouth. Only, as it hit her lips, she realized what it actually was. She fished around to pull Seraphiel's head up. "It's chocolate...way to waste food. Can you swim?" she asked, hurriedly. There was probably no time to talk, though, and she madly kicked and flailed her way through the mud, pushing herself forward as much as she could while bringing her partner with her.

@Seraphiel Fletcher

Cass really didn't like the idea of doing this but he had to win! That is until they got to the first obstacle and it was mud. He barely stopped in time before he too, right beside Gregory, fell forward into the obstacle pit. It was sweet. And chocolate. This was chocolate pudding! It was so disgusting! Cass knew that he was absolutely covered too, and chocolate was so hard to get out of clothes without magic. Cass struggled to get up while wiping the chocolate goo from his face. "Bet you are loving this, stupid kid."
@Gregory Friend

Felix was managing to keep decent time with Thistle as they approached the first obstacle. He liked to think the years of growing up together was working in their favor. When the reached the mud he didn't hesitate at all. He wasn't a stranger to a little mess. But when he heard his sister say yum he took a closer look and realized it was actually pudding. For some reason he found that much grosser that mud. He made a face as Thistle ate a few bites but he decided to use his strength and try and pull both of them through to the other side. "Come on, we got this!" @Thistle Carnahan

Wading through it was difficult, it was deep, and thick. Not particularly sticky, but he knew it was only a matter of time before it was. He glanced at Josh who was agreeing with him. but just kept pushing forward, his feet were slippy under him, and he just had to keep pushing forward, slow and steady, slowing more when either he or Josh seemed to slip. "We're almost there!" he said encouraging, they were making their way through it.
@Joshua Lynch

Gregory had a face full of chocolate pudding mud, his clothes were covered in it. It was all over his hair. And it was so sickly sweet, and he felt so gross in it. He did lick his lips to get rid of it there, and then glanced towards Cassius at his insult. ”I'm really not,” Gregory replied quietly. He wanted to enjoy this, had wanted to have fun, but he was stuck with someone who hated him. Gregory wiped some of it from his eyes and face, and just tried to take another step forward. ”Let's keep going,” Gregory just began trying to get back to his feet. The quicker they moved, the quicker this would be over.

"Aw, I hate chocolate!" Sera whined. But there was no time to complain. The other students were already getting ahead. He didn't so much swim as wriggle and claw his way to the other side of the pit, but given that one of his legs was tied to Aine's, perfect technique was not at the front of his mind. Finally he dragged himself onto solid ground. Standing up required a bit of cooperation, but he was starting to get the hang of this. As soon as Aine was back on her feet, he was ready to run.

@Aine Thompson

Sorry, sorry I talk when I’m nervous or when I’m think and wow this is so much harder to coordinate with another person,” Marnie said, trying to stifle her laughter as she and Penny managed to at least stay upright for now.

The laughter got more absurd, slowing Marnie’s stride down as they reached the first obstacle. “Pudding oh my god I don’t know if that’s amazing or gross I mean I like chocolate but I dunno if I like it that much but let’s go!” She said as they reached the edge of the pit, stepping confidently into the pudding with Pen. The depth of the pit took her by surprise, as did the strange consistency of the pudding and Marnie let out a yelp as she immediately lost her footing, sliding down into the chocolate goo and taking Penelope down with her as they hit the pudding with a wet squelch. @Penelope Marshall

Kahurangi had been looking forward to the three-legged race for some time now, and she had enjoyed selecting the puzzles that would constitute her own obstacle immensely. She watched from her own vantage point as the contestants set off running and ate their way through the chocolate "mud" pit, grinning brightly as the teams reached the tables where her obstacle was set up. "You have to complete one of my puzzles before you move on!" Kahurangi explained, gesturing to the tables arranged for each duo. The wooden puzzle pieces lay scattered, ready to be completed before the children carried on to the next obstacle.

OOCOut of Character:
To pass this obstacle, your duo must complete one of the pictured wooden block puzzles. Three of the puzzles lie flat on the table while two, (the tree and the kiwis,) must be balanced, adding an extra element of difficulty. There is no limit on how many duos can choose the same design - every team's table has one of each puzzle to choose from. Have fun!

Raafe was pretty sure he and Anisha could keep in lockstep even without being magically tied together but all their practice was certainly helping them keep a rhythm. He did his best to just focus on their feet, letting Anisha do all the hard work of thinking as they approached the the first obstacle, already seeing her formulating a new place. “Simple, but effective,” he said in agreement as they strode into the pit, trying to ignore the weird feeling of what had to be pudding now soaking into his pants leg. He grabbed Anisha’s wasit tighter as they slipped a bit, trying to keep them upright and on rhythm as they waded through the pit. “You think this is what happens to the school leftovers after dessert?” He mused, sliding a bit more but holding firm to Anisha as they continued on. @Anisha Khatri

Salem was glad Elara had a plan, listening to her counting their steps as they moved. It certainly helped as they took off after the other competitors. Salem liked to think she was pretty fast, and Elara did all her circus and Quidditch stuff too, but she couldn’t help but feel they were starting to fall behind as they hit the first obstacle. She didn’t hesitate to stride into the pit, immediately yelping and laughing at the strange, cold feeling. “Oh it’s so slimy! Ew!” She announced, trying to stifle her giggles and focus on moving through the goo though there was no doubt they had to have lost some speed as she could see some of the pairs already reaching the next obstacle. @Elara Chatelain

Aine was stunned that someone would hate chocolate. She didn't really want to eat the pudding - this was more gross than appetizing - but she did enjoy chocolate for the most part. A little went a long way, though. She pulled herself up, struggling with the bound leg, but the two of them managed to get upright after a few moments and start squelching at a canter to where the next obstacle was. "You think...they should have given us puzzles before we got...covered in chocolate?" She panted, looking at what was there as they got closer. "Thinking...one is a picture? Easier puzzle? ...maybe?" She hadn't run this hard in ages, even without being tied to someone else.

@Seraphiel Fletcher

After the pudding pit Rāwhiti was feeling invincible, though that feeling was quickly drowned as he caught sight of the next obstacle. "Oh man!" He whined, looking down at the puzzles in dismay as he tried and failed to wipe the pudding slime off his hands. Any excitement he had felt at reaching Auntie Kahu's obstacle quickly dissolved. "Are you any good at this stuff?" He asked his partner as he grabbed a few pieces of the Ruru puzzle and started trying to put them together.
@Genevieve Fuentes

Full of adrenaline and pudding, Thistle charged out of the bog with her brother in tow and barrelled up to the next obstacle. Her Head of House had hardly finished explaining before Thistle was already reaching for the pieces. "PUZZLES!" She yelled in delight, working with Felix to quickly assemble the pieces, eager to get back to running.
@Felix Carnahan

Josh continued to slip a little, every now and then as they went through the chocolate pudding. As he saw what the next obstacle was, Josh's excitement died down a bit. He wasn't that great when it came to puzzles. "Are you good at doing puzzles? I'm not so good... What puzzle did ya wanna do?" Josh said to his friend, panting a little from going through the mud.
