Open Three-Legged Race

Aime stared blankly between the instructions and the apples, trying to make sense of it all. "God, wizards are weird," she grumbled, a little short of breath. She picked up an apple, tempted to take a few bites out of it to wash down the taste of chocolate pudding. ...was there any rule about not eating the apple? Surely the core would be easier to get through when the bulk was reduced. That was physics, right? Or at least to remove enough to spit it out. With that, she started biting into it, eating enough of it to put the top in her mouth and spit it out as she drew her head upwards, propelling the apple through the hoop. Barely. "Yeah, physics! ...I guess."

Renata cheered Sky on as she attempted to get the apples through the hoop. She certainly didn't think she'd want to do apple bobbing after this. Or eat chocolate pudding...though thick hot chocolate did sound nice after a long bath. The bath would have to be her main motivation, as she felt pretty tired. Although there was lots of working out in Quidditch, it was less tiring than being tied to someone and running. Renata gritted her teeth, stumbling a little as they ran. "Oh no, oh no..." she muttered right as they got close, her legs trembling. Renata squealed, feeling herself falling and managing to stumble to her knee, carefully pushing up and practically lurching across the finish line.

"How did you - what? - you've gotta show me how to oh no run run run run RUN!" Sera screeched, nearly knocking over a bucket of apples in his haste to begin the last stretch towards the finish line. His chest was burning and his legs threatened to give way at every step, but they hadn't come this far to lose now. That yellow tape was so close, he could almost hear it flapping in the breeze, could almost hear the crowd cheering for their victory...

@Aine Thompson

Aine's everything was burning. Her legs, her chest, her throat. Her stomach felt awful with the combination chocolate pudding and apple. She had bad memories of being in school sports days, desperately trying to run the mandatory 800m without falling apart. But she drew every ounce of strength she had because here at Hogwarts, she wasn't a failure, and by God she was going to prove it today. So what if they stumbled and went crashing to the ground right before the finish line. They were on the line. That had to count, right?
@Seraphiel Fletcher

All that Seraphiel could see was the finish line... and then suddenly all he could see was grass. A throbbing in his knees and ribcage told him he was going to wake up tomorrow morning with some nasty bruises, but nothing hurt more than the realisation they were about to lose. No! Where was the line, anyway? They were sort of on it, not quite over it, but straddling it, and if they didn't move soon they were going to get trampled. With the last of his energy, Sera clawed at the grass, dragging the rest of his body across the finish line.

@Aine Thompson

Aine mentally swore, pulling herself on to a knee. "Sorry..." she choked out, her arms shaking as she forced the resr of her over the finish line. Almost combat crawling. She somehow made it, lying face down and not inclined to get up. She eventually tilted her head, somewhat dazed. "Never again..." she mumbled. "I am going to...have nightmares...about pudding."
@Seraphiel Fletcher

it was drawing closer. she was surpised that they had made it that far. surprised that they had made it that far and were not lagging dangerously behind. in fact, were they? they may be. very near the front if not first. left right inside outside closer and closer. she held onto renata. the line drew nearer. They were almost there when re ata seemed to stumble. She tried to correct them before they fell but it wasn’t easy when you were racing and had your legs together and arms around each other for (un)ballence. And soon they were falling covered in chocolate and and stumblig over the line.
"we did it" she said hugging renata in excitement. Both of them on the floor tangled up. what happened next happened so fast she couldnt even tell you what she had thought. she went to kiss renata on the cheek. a celebratory peck like people do but somehow they both moved at the wrong time and the cheek turned into the lips. it was still light and quick. and pobably didnt mean anything. like anything. just a mistake. but she pulled away. "oh unnskyld, unnskyld sorry sorry" she said letting go and trying to get up and step away remembering too late that their feet were litterally tied and she tittered helplessly on the edge of falling over again.

((leaving it to the grace of god aka admins to decide who actually won lol))

Renata was stunned they'd actually made it, and at the front no less. It didn't seem like that should have been the case but here they were. She pulled herself upright a little, turning to say something when suddenly Sky's lips and hers touched. Well, that was awkward, Renata thought, figuring it was just a very awkward accident and that they'd just laugh it off. Though if she was having a first kiss she wanted it to be a bit more romantic. And not necessarily with her best friend, as that just made it all a bit weird. But she didn't dwell on that, instead just focusing on trying to get up. "Accidents happen," she simply said, brushing it off and pulling herself upright. Once one leg was up she held her hand to Sky, but subconsciously kept her head far enough away so as not to have another mildly uncomfortable moment. "...do you think...they will end the enchantment soon?"

Emmanuel nodded, and made relatively quick work of putting the pieces together, using the ones that Josh found and the ones that he had found. It wasn't too difficult a puzzle once the outline was found, there was only a certain way the pieces could go. And with Josh's help he was able to get the thing done. "That looks right doesn't it? I think we can move on?" Emmanuel said eagerly. They didn't have too long to go now.
@Joshua Lynch

Joshua helped out as best as he could when it came to the puzzle. "Yes!" Josh cheered when Emmanuel had completed the puzzle. It wasn't long before they made their way towards the quidditch hoops. It looked like they weren't that far behind. It wasn't long until they reached the third obstacle. "We got this one!" Josh said with encouragement, as he began to throw the apples into his mouth. It took a couple of tries before he managed to get an apple through the hoop, he noticed that they were that far off until they made it to the finish line, but didn't want to jinx it.

@Emmanuel Okoye

Emmanuel was quite pleased when they got to the next hurdle which was something that he had no skill on, but he knew Josh had recently tried for the team. he just kept moving forward in time with him as they did so. He nodded with encouragement, and then himself took an apple and tried to throw it into the hoop. It was not good and Emmanuel just had to focus and try a good number of times before, he swore by some fluke it managed to through the hoop. "That was more difficult than I expected," he said with a laugh. But they weren't far now from the end they just had to set off again. "Come on we're so close,"

Cass nodded along with Gregory as he pointed out the owl puzzle, which after a bit, the Slytherin helped him work on and finish it up. The next task made him raise an eyebrow. "Were the professors high when they came up with the obstacles?" Cass muttered but he bent down and handed Gregory an apple, before putting one in his mouth. Such a waste of apples, really. This was ridiculous. At least with his toss, he managed to make it through, so he bent down and took another one, just as a snack. Knowing that first place was pretty much not possible, at least he had a damn snack. "Just hurry up and get it into the hoop so we can end this."

Gregory focused on the puzzle and surprisingly enough Cassius actually did help with it. He was almost proud when they'd finished. He slipped his glasses back into his pocket and with some difficult walked with Cassius to the next hurdle. Gregory didn't like this at all. He took the apple handed to him and then placed it into his mouth. He tried to toss it, and it immediately tumbled out of his mouth. Gregory hurried to pick it up, given that it hadn't gone far, and try again. His attempts were pretty bad, and by the sixth or seventh attempt, as Cassius hurried him, he just put the glasses back on to give him more of a chance to aim. And finally with the glasses on he was able to just barely nicking the edge of the hoop and just falling the right way. He didn't say anything, but felt rather proud that he'd managed it. He could see the end wasn't far and the sooner this was over the better, so tried to move and just hoped he wouldn't fall again.

Cass sighed and rolled his eyes impatiently as Gregory tried and tried again to get the apple into the hoop. So much so that he had eaten half of the apple he was working on. He tossed it to the ground when the Hufflepuff finally got it. Finally. The Slytherin gripped the Hufflepuff's shirt to help hold him steady as he moved, making sure not to go too fast. Should this actually work and they make it to the finish line - not in last place, could this make Cassius a better person for learning teamwork with someone he hated? Could he actually be friendly?

Probably a fool's idea.

Gregory was slightly reassured that Cassius was holding on to his shirt. He was still struggling to keep his feet under him to having Cassius hold his shirt was at least stopping him from falling over. They weren't moving too fast and Gregory was sure they weren't in first place but it would be fine. he continued to move forward pushing towards the finish line, and he managed to get one foot in front of the other and he crossed it. At least he had finished in one piece.
