Juniper made her way down to the duelling chamber with the small, multicolored box in hand. She was stoked by the event she and Flynn had planned. While it was nothing close to the fun and excitement of the tournaments, she hoped this would get folks amped up, as they really didn't have that much interest at the club fair. If it hadn't been for their quidditch win (which didn't really even have to do with Juniper but she would gladly take credit as captain), the Ravenclaw easily would have felt like quite the failure. However, things were looking up, and if she could just keep up the momentum until break, she knew she could rock her seventh year.

Once settled with her things, the seventh year opened the box and quickly watched as the dementor tried to escape, or at least, the small miniature toy version of a dementor, marketed as "Danny the Dementor (My First Dementor™)." It was harmless, but she figured there would be younger students who had didn't know what these creatures looked like. This was a hands-on club after all. She quickly immobilized the figurine, bringing it back down to the table as she sat it alongside the small, harmless version of a boggart and red cap. Juniper figured she and Flynn could set the creatures free once students arrived and the event started.

Once the space was filled with most of their club roster, Juniper cleared her throat and gave Flynn a wink. "Hiya, everyone. For those that don't know, I'm Juniper Zumwalt, and this is Flynn North. We're co-presidents of the Student Defense Association this year," she said proudly, shooting daggers glancing right past Lysander, before continuing. "This semester, we want to give you some real world skills. I'll let Flynn explain what each of the creatures are, and then afterwards, we're all going to learn some spells to help us in case we meet them. I'll take first and second years, as well as any fellow seventh years, and Flynn will lead the rest of you. Now, onto our newly minted prefect," she said, trying not to smirk too hard before stepping aside.

OOCOut of Character:
Open to all SDA members. If you're not an SDA member and would like to be, PM Juniper or Flynn. We'd love to have more members! :)

Flynn's excitement about being asked to be the co-president of the SDA had kind of been overshadowed that year by his utter dismay and annoyance at getting a prefect badge. He still didn't want the bloody thing and had barely worn it all year, most of the time the badge was just shoved into his pocket and completely forgotten about. He was still trying not to think about it as he busied himself with setting up for the club meeting, pushing everything in the room to the sides so there would be enough room to work with for what they had planned. Then, it was just a case of waiting for people to arrive.

He let Juniper start things off, though when she passed off to him he did have to scowl slightly. "Would have appreciated it if you didn't mention the prefect thing," he huffed in her direction before stepping forward, swiftly folding his arms across his chest. "So, as you might have noticed we have three creatures for you guys to worry about today. First, we have a dementor. They're the wardens of Azkaban and not exactly the nicest bunch. Big fans of kissing, the downside to that though is they're also big fans of sucking your soul out in the process. Secondly, we have a boggart. Anyone above third year should have experience dealing with one of these if you happened to take DADA. You can usually find them in small dark spaces like cupboards and wardrobes. They're creatures capable of changing into your deepest and darkest desire and can only be defeated by laughter." Not exactly the easiest thing and he knew that from experience. And finally, he gestured to the smallest, a red cap. "And his is a red cap. They're small dwarf-like creatures that like to live where human blood has been shed and can most prominently be found in northern Europe. They also quite like to try and bludgeon people to death on dark nights and it's said they use that blood to dye their caps red, hence their name."

But, with that long explanation out of the way, they could move on. "As Juniper has said, first, second and seventh years if you want to go over to her, you'll be working with the Red Caps and Dementors respectively. That leaves the rest of you with me and the Boggart."

Elara had been a little bummed about losing the dueling tournament last year, but she figured it was okay to let others have a chance. It just meant she'd work that much harder to gain back the title this year. When she entered the dueling chamber, she gave the leaders a smile and took a seat, listening as they talked. She still wasn't sure if Flynn disliked her or was just that moody all the time, but maybe if she did well today, she would grow on him. Elara wasn't a fan of people not liking her. When they were instructed, she walked over towards her teammate. She knew they'd be working with a fake boggart, but even that worried her. She waited for Flynn to tell them what to do.

Ivy headed to the SDA meeting with mixed feelings. She wasn't sure if she was ready to face Flynn if she was honest, though at least the rest of the club would also be there. She headed into the room and listened as Juniper spoke, glancing at the table curiously. Flynn then spoke and Ivy focused her attention on him, feeling a strange sense of pride at seeing him in charge of a club. He was honestly doing pretty well. She listened as he explained about the creatures they had for them. Her heart did a little jump when she realized she was going to be with Flynn and the boggart. She raised her hand as if they were in class, then realized that was probably unnecessary. "Does this act like a real boggart?" She asked nervously, not eager to relive that particular Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson.

With Sydney no longer in charge of the SDA, Brooke was tentatively looking forward to club meetings now. Not that she hadn't with her sister in charge, the urge to prove herself a talented and notable member of the club hadn't diminished, but she had to admit it was a relief to walk in the room and not dread the sinking feeling of Sydney's pointed lack of acknowledgement. Flynn being in charge this year however was going to be an adjustment. Brooke did her best to listen properly as he and Juniper introduced what they were working on, pursing her lips thoughtfully at the toys they'd had on display for them.

She shuffled over with Ivy to follow Flynn, feeling quietly smug at the unease in Ivy's voice at her question. "Are you scared? We already covered it once in class, it wouldn't be so hard for you again, right?" She said sweetly. @Ivy Ashworth

Leia arrived at the SDA room. She looked at the leaders of the club, frowning at the boy who was co-leader. She didn't know why she hadn't been made the co-leader and the gryffindor boy had. She sat down in the room, with a quiet little huff, knowing very few would hear it. She listened to Flynn and was frustrated that them splitting up into two sections was resulting in her spending time with the younger leader. She'd listened and was even more annoyed they'd be working with a boggart. But she just stood with others she'd let others go first.

Ajaccio knew staying in his clubs would be a good idea, since even though he was a seventh year with plenty that he needed to do, it was always good to take a break. He arrived at the room and gave an excited wave to Juniper, he didn't know her that well, but he knew her enough and liked her enough that he was quite happy to see her. He listened to what they would be doing and moved to wait with Juniper the rest of the seventh years and then the younger kids for things to really get started.

Lumio had arrived at the SDA club event just after his brother, but hadn't had the time to sit down with him to chat before things were getting started. The teen glanced towards Flynn who was speaking after Juniper. He nodded along, he would mind doing either but it would be fine to face the boggart. He glanced towards his brother, knowing he was likely to see something to do with him or perhaps with just Ronald. Either way, it would perhaps be fun or nice for someone else to see, but it would be fine. Plus he was older than when he'd last done the spell, he'd manage it.

Liusaidh looked to Flynn as she walked into the SDA room. She wasn't sure why he'd been named leader, or prefect but she had to assure it was probably just like him someone having a bit of a joke with them. She was smirking at him, she would 100% ruin this for him if she could. She scoffed at thwat they were to do. It was just so plain but it was good too. She looked to Ivy as she spoke. "Ah 'hink ye should go first Lake boy," she called out to him.

Branson had always considered not coming back to the SDA club, he liked it and it could be fun, but it wasn't as much use of his time as other events or clubs that he was a part of and that felt rather vital. He was older and needed to spend his time wisely but he knew he didn't mind still being a part of it for now and was gladly taking a spot, he listened along and he'd be with the younger leader, who was still older and him but not as old as Juniper. He wouldn't mind facing a boggart but was glad his sister would be off dealing with something else.

Leonardo Orr was always eager to learn more magic and interact with things, it was why he did believe that his work in clubs needed to be time well spent, it wasn't when it came to the brotherhood, but that was important for socialising, the SDA was where he would do more of his fighting, more of his stronger learning. He walked into the SDA room and found a spot, he didn't know anyone else in this room yet and just forcused on what the two leaders were saying. He was nodding along eager and was a little daunted by the dementors and everything else, even if he wasn't going to interact with them. He went to the older leader with the rest of the youngest students and waited for further instructions on how they were to go about this.

Aurora walked nervously into the SDA room. She knew as the youngest type of student, there wasn't much she'd be able to do during this first event, she didn't know many spells at all, but this would be fine. She walked and took a seat in the room and glanced towards the others there. She spotted Bran and moved across to sit with him. She gave a little smile but wasn't able to say anything before the leader of the club started speaking, and then other leader, going over what they were doing. She followed the other young students to the first leader and was eager to learn more about what they'd do.

Indi liked being a part of the SDA but mostly for the dueling tournament and the opportunity to practice for said tournament. But she arrived at the meeting and was at least curious to see what they would be doing today. She listened as Juniper introduced herself to them again this year and she was intrigued by the Gryffindor seeker who appeared to be one of the club leaders this year. Flynn went on to explain the different creatures they had brought out to observe. She wrinkled her nose at the red cap’s description. She was relieved when they split into groups and she would be dealing with Boggarts since it was something she had dealt with before.

After participating in the duelling tournament last year, Louis had decided to join the SDA. He needed to keep his title now that he had it, after all. He was pretty curious about the first meeting, heading over to the club room. The Ravenclaw leader spoke first, telling them they would be focusing on creatures. Louis was in the group that had to go to the other kid, the Gryffindor seeker. He explained a little more of what they would do. Louis hadn't ever seen a boggart in real life, so he was pretty curious about it. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and waited for Flynn to tell them what to do.
