Hufflepuff Quidditch Practice

Amy flew around, watching the others and caught the Quaffle from the older girl. She tried to score but didn't get it in. She frowned, but accepted this. Hopefully someone would score soon.

Elliot was trying to focus on his own search and not get too distracted watching April, but it was hard not to want to defer to her. When April moved suddenly, Elliot resisted the urge to follow where she was looking. It seemed like a false alarm but Elliot had to wonder if he really thought he'd have a chance if it came down to them both going for the snitch at the same time anyway.

No one seemed to be having any luck and it just seemed like it was all running out. He figured perhaps they hadn't finished yet because April still wanted to catch the snitch, and he thought this was fair enough. How could she be sure she'd catch the snitch in the upcoming game if she couldn't catch it in the practice? This was also going through the teen's head himself, hoping he would eventually be able to hit a good bludger. As he saw a bludger coming his way, he held onto his bat tightly, and with a big swing, his bat collided with it, heading straight for the direction of @Elliot Briar

Elliot had been so caught up watching for the snitch he forgot there were other things out on the pitch he should have been keeping an eye for. He was handily reminded of one such things presence when he felt a bludger collide with his shoulder, feeling his broom sway alarmingly as all the air was knocked out of him. It hurt, and Elliot was relieved he managed to keep ahold of his broom, feeling the pain radiate down from the hit on his shoulder all the way to his fingertips. Catching his breath and blinking a few tears from his eyes, Elliot let himself drop a few feet in the air, just to feel the security of not being so far from the ground. He needed a moment for the throbbing pain to clear before he could even think about looking for the snitch again.

It alarmed April that Patrick had hit Elliot. The bludgers had been fairly kind so far during this practice, and April was actually kind of glad about it. She winced as the younger boy was hit, and flew over to him to make sure he was okay. "Are you alright?" She asked him. "I can call a break."

Despite the pain from the bludger hit, the last thing Elliot wanted was to call a bunch of attention to himself by asking April to call a break. "No, it's okay.." He said, grimly rubbing his shoulder. "Part of the game right?" He said with a half-hearted smile, remembering what April had said back before try-outs. Elliot knew he was bound to get hit eventually, so maybe it was best it happened during practice so he could nurse it without the real pressure of having to win a game or not cry in front of half the school.

Patrick couldn't help but feel bad as he saw the bludger collide with Elliot and the pain that it caused him. He felt even worse as April had to ask him if he was okay. "I'm sorry Elliot!" Patrick called out to him, his cheeks turning a shade of pink. The only bad part about being a beater was potentially causing someone harm, but at least Patrick had finally hit one. He continued flying around, trying to look for something else to hit. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to do so and sighed, feeling himself getting tired from all of this flying.

April felt bad for the kid. He was right, it was part of the game, but that didn't mean a first bludger hit was pleasant. She gave him a smile and a thumbs up. "That sounds like seeker material alright." she said encouragingly. Then she flew off, searching of the snitch again.

Abian got the Quaffle after Amy had tried to score, giving her a small smile. He was still a fairly new chaser himself, and knew how much pressure someone could feel when they first started. He tucked the quaffle under his arm and flew off with it.

Elliot wasn't going to lie and say April's encouragement didn't make him feel a little better, whether it was sincere or out of sympathy, he would take it. He gave Patrick a thumbs up before trying to get back searching for the snitch again. Just.. a bit more aware of the bludgers this time round.

Even though Amy didn't score, Analei still smiled at her encouragingly, feeling like a different person than she had been the previous years; she wasn't nearly as moody and sulky as she had been. Analei turned around and followed Abian, hoping that he would be able to score.

It was harder to focus now, with the throbbing reminder of the bludger in his shoulder, Elliot was flinching at every glimpse of movement out of the corner of his eye. Most of the time it was just his teammates, but Elliot was worried he'd be too busy flinching all the time to notice the snitch if this kept up.

April wanted to fly off and go search for the snitch, but something kept her near Elliot. She felt oddly protective of the younger boy, and kept hovering near him while still on the lookout of the snitch. She hoped the bludgers would be kind to him from now on.

Abian noticed Analei following him and felt a little reassured by her presence, but he still wanted to try scoring himself. He flew up to the hoops and threw the quaffle. He sighed when he missed his goal. He wasn't having a great day.

Elliot gave April a tight smile when he spotted her hovering nearby. She still kind of made him nervous, but he felt a lot less exposed to potential bludgers with her sticking closer, so he could deal. "Are practices always this rough?" He asked, moving closer to April and rolling his shoulder, watching as one of the chasers missed another goal and wincing in sympathy.

April grimaced a bit at Elliot's practice, right after another chaser missed a shot. She sighed. "No... they're usually a lot more fun." She admitted. "I think we just need to get back into it a bit." She added optimistically.

Elliot nodded sympathetically to April's response. Under all the nerves and the bludger hit, he found he was still rather enjoying himself. Playing was definitely a lot different to watching games, but it was exciting and Elliot was grateful to be out on the pitch.

With the conversation with Elliot over, April nodded at him before speeding off. She was going to search for the snitch at the other side of the pitch. She hoped he would be okay, and that the beaters would be kind to their younger players.

Even though he knew it was unlikely, Elliot was still hoping for another chance at the snitch before practice wrapped up. Unfortunately, he hadn't seen hide nor hair of it since he'd let it go. It would impressive at how quickly it had disappeared if it wasn't so discouraging not being able to find it again.

Therese was suprised by herself of how good she was doing. She actually believed in herself and had blocked more goals than the chaser had scored. So that was positive, but she hoped the chasers would score too. She doubted if she had to miss one to get their confidence up, but that didn't seemed fair. Therese could not fly to the other side so hoped that April would fly close to her soon. She was happy with how she was doing but wanted to give the chasers a heads up too and smiled towards them. She could understand the frustration. She looked out for the next one that came to the hoops.

Time was ticking, April new practice had to send soon. Her players were getting tired, and so was she. But then she spotted a glimmer in the distance, and she flew to it immediately. April flattened herself on her broom and reached for the snitch almost automatically, a grin on her face as she managed to grasp it. "FINALLY!" She called, before letting it go again.

Elliot barely had time to react when he spotted April streaking across the pitch. He'd just started to move, still trying to spot whatever she had that caused to move when April was already pull up with the snitch in her hand. Elliot hoped he could move that fast eventually, cheering for April as she released the snitch again.

April was glad she had managed to end practice on a good note, and she happily blew on the whistle to indicate it was over. "Good job everyone! That was it for today!" She called before flying down and dismounting her broom.
