Open Hufflepuff Practice Y36 S1

Ilija could almost make out that the Quaffle had been caught again and he braced himself, squinting through the rain. It was certainly good practise and made things harder than they were out here in this whether, but he hoped it wouldn't be like that for the real thing.

Abian cheered for Amy as she managed to score. He then caught the quaffle when Ilija threw it back into play and started on a lap with it tucked under his arm.

Trying to shake off the lingering sting from the bludger hit, Elliot decided to fly a bit higher, tilting his head down as he shifted upwards to try and keep the rain out of his eyes. Visibility was still bad, but Elliot felt a little better being more out of the way of the other players for now.

Thinking he'd spotted some movement, Elliot shot off to a spot near the stands, pulling up sharply when he realized it was just a reflection from the rain. Cursing quietly under hi breath, Elliot resumed circling the pitch, trying to keep an eye out now for more bludgers too.

Analei continued to fly around, trying to keep an eye on the game through the rain.

Despite the ache from the bludger and the chill, Elliot had mostly just gotten used to being wet, the rain bothering him less and less as practice went on. His fingers were a little numb though and he spared a moment scanning for the snitch to try and warm them up with his breath before carrying on.

Lauren continued her flying. She was glad to see Analei was not hurt too bad by her hit.

Abian was having trouble keeping track of anyone else in the rain, so he just kept a hold of the quaffle and flew up to the hoops. He was pleased when he managed to score this time.

It felt like the chill was sapping his energy now, but Elliot kept his pace, scanning the pitch carefully despite the rain.

Analei wasn't sure if it was the weather that was making her feel sluggish but she knew it was good training for them to continue practicing for a bit longer in the rain. Her arm was aching from where the bludger had hit her but she was glad that Lauren was getting hits too.

(oops sorry missed her getting hit welp)

Turning his head, Elliot thought he'd spotted sign of movement further down the pitch, but whatever it was quickly moved out of sight and Elliot was met with nothing but more driving rain.

Analei could tell the team was starting to slow down, but she wanted to keep pushing for a bit longer, but would eventually find Arvel to discuss calling it.

Still investigating the movement he'd seen, Elliot had been about to give up and move on when he felt something moving overhead. Squinting through the rain, Elliot's heart lept when he saw the snitch for a third time. Shooting upwards, Elliot barely had time to register he had the snitch in his hand, letting out a laugh of disbelief and waving it again at the rest of the team, shaking his head before letting it go.

Analei was over the moon when Elliot showed he had caught the snitch for a third time. Really, at this rate, every other team should be feeling petrified. Elliot was able to catch the snitch in such horrific weather three times, and after having a bludger hit at him. Analei felt as if she could kiss him.

Lauren was trying the best she could in this weather and she heard some happy noices. Elliot was doing a good job. Hopefully he would bring that back into the game as well. Lauren tried to focus on bludgers and noticed one close and hit it. And saw how it made contact with Elliot. Lauren was glad she was hitting something and a small smirk appeared on her face. But she didn't tried to enjoy it too much since she didn't want to be like her father.

@Elliot Briar

Elliot was still riding the high from the snitch catch despite the rain, not totally paying attention to his surroundings after letting it go. He barely had time to react when he heard the whistling sound of the bludger, gripping his broom as it knocked into his back, making his teeth click together. He let out a groan of pain, choosing to just hang on his broom a moment to ride out the pain before moving again.

Ilija hadn’t meant to let the Quaffle in and he looked apologetic when he failed. Throwing the ball out once again he knew he would have to do better than this.

Connor could tell the team's main beaters were having much more luck than him, through the rain all he could really hear was the smack and whizz of balls being hit and the occasional cry of pain. Still he pressed on, hoping to get a proper hit in before practice ended. He'd worked so hard over the holidays to get good enough to join the team, he didn't want to let them down now.

Still aching after the second bludger hit, Elliot took a moment to catch his breath, trying to focus on the uncomfortable feeling of the rain soaking into his robes over the aching pain from the hit.

Another bludger made it's way towards Analei, and she hit it as hard as she could at @Connor Holland , feeling both happy and bad when it hit him. It was never fun to hit your own team members, especially a new one.

Connor thought he could hear a bludger in his vicinity, though he didn't realise quite how close it was until his entire system flooded with pain, the ball striking him hard in the side. Connor cried out in pain and clung to his broom, doing a quick barrel roll with the force of it. As he righted himself there were already tears running from his eyes and he gasped for breath, wiping his eyes quickly as he tried to catch his breath and ignore how every movement of his side burned horribly now. This was nothing like getting tackled in rugby.

Everything still hurt, but Elliot was starting to feel like moving now might be better than drifting aimlessly while he caught his breath. He looked up in time to see another bludger hitting their new beater, Connor, instead and felt a pang of sympathy for him. Straightening up more on his broom and letting out a hiss as it aggravated both bludger hits, Elliot tried to focus on spotting the snitch.

Blinking back tears, Connor flew after the bludger that had hit him and tried to hit it, a fresh rush of tears of frustration escaping as he barely nicked it, sending the ball spinning off harmlessly. At least through the rain hopefully nobody could tell he was crying.

Elliot was moving slower, favoring his right side some as it helped ease the sting from the bludgers. He scanned the pitch somewhat aimlessly, feeling the rain and the bludger hits dragging him down.

Tiziano felt tired and sluggish. He had been holding back for most of the game because all of the more experienced players seemed to know what they were doing and he felt best to keep out of their way as he didn’t want people to think he was treading on toes. he was only knew after all, he was an alternate too. He saw his opportunity though when the Keeper, whose name he did not know, three the quaffle back into play and he raced over there to catch it, almost dropping the slippery quaffle in the process. he didn’t though, he was lucky. he moved to circle around so he could come in for a throw.
