Apparition,6,2It was just days before the election and Irene had much to do, but her obligations called first. It wasn't as if Ioan had asked for her assistance anyway, though he had to admit she had given his campaign the feminine touch it needed. It was no matter to her if he ever admitted it. She knew. So, Irene stood in her Ministry robes waiting for the sixth years to arrive looking far more distracted than she had ever appeared. Today, they'd finally get some practice in. She knew that some students had experience with side-along apparition, but doing it alone was a very different experience. They'd soon find that out for themselves. It was one thing to go along for the ride, and quite another thing to be the person who had to remember the 3 Ds and execute them perfectly.

"Let's go. Come in, come in" Irene Finch urged the students forward impatiently as the first student walked tentatively through the open Great Hall doors. She took roll as they entered, shutting the doors from the distraction of younger students who wanted to see what was happening. "Space yourselves out...there's plenty of room" she stated, her voice sounding quite irritated that she needed to remind them off this. Irene gave her wand a small flourish and a large wooden hoop appeared in front of each student, falling into place before them.

Looking around at their faces, Irene stared at each student for the briefest of moments, making judgments about their ability to succeed at the task before them. She had been doing this long enough that she was rarely wrong. "Alright. Today, you will make your first attempts at apparating" she declared, her hands on her hips as she walked around. "Before we begin, can someone remind us of the three Ds?" she pointed to a student and nodded her head as they responded.

"Excellent" she stated. "Now that you've all been reminded of the three Ds, it is time to put them into practice. For your safety, one of your school nurses is here" she nodded towards the corner where the nurse was stationed. "If you splinch yourself, please remain in your spot and the nurse or I will come to you. No sense bleeding all over the place" she stated with a small shake of her head, not even thinking about how startling that sentence might seem to a muggleborn. She didn't explain splinching either. Sooner rather than later, she was sure they'd learn if they didn't already know. "Begin. I will be walking around."

Points will be given to the student who answers the question. RP the lesson. If youd like your character to splinch themselves, please speak with me first.

As expected Flavio arrived to the second apparition lesson without anything in his pockets and with the determination to succeed in whatever kind of apparating the teacher asked them to complete. After the first lesson Flavio had studied the three D's and knowing there would be some attempt at apparating during the second lesson he had spent the time in between both lessons impatient to learn more and finally begin his first steps to being an adult wizard. It would be apparating and then his seventeenth birthday to represent this change and he wanted to get the first part over with as successfully as possible. After moving to stand in an empty spot in the hall and a wooden hoop appeared in front of him, he assumed he would be asked to attempt to apparate inside of it. He looked momentarily from the teacher to the hoop, and back to her in time to raise his hand and answer her question. "The three D's are Destination, Determination, and Deliberation." Being certain his answer was correct because he studied the words in depth after the first lesson, Flavio nodded as she confirmed it was correct with a knowing grin.

Next the woman asked for actual attempts to apparate, noting the school nurse in the room in case there were any injuries. Flavio looked to the nurse and then to the wooden hoop in front of him as he visualized his destination, focused his attention on his determination and then attempted to deliberate and apparate into the hoop on the floor. He closed his eyes as he focused, and felt a familiar pulling in his stomach he recognized from side along apparition, although more muted than what he expected. When he opened his eyes again he realized the feeling being muted meant he didn't succeed as he was still standing in the same spot. It took a few further tries but Flavio eventually felt the pulling on his stomach worsen and cause nausea before he opened his eyes to see he managed to successfully apparate on the floor inside the hoop. Smiling in accomplishment Flavio placed his hands on his hips, looking around the class to see how everyone else was doing, before he focused his attention again and began practicing apparating outside of the hoop and back again.

Valentine's day had been a lot of fun, and Amber realized she had really missed delivering roses. There was something so nice about the happy expressions on people's faces as they received a rose, though she knew not everyone was happy with the roses. She had learned that lesson in her first year. But this time it went fine, and she was glad about that.

The Hufflepuff made her way into the great hall, a little nervous about today's lesson. She wasn't sure if she was really ready to apparate, as it still seemed like something so grown-up to her. And it seemed difficult too. She was standing close to Ainsley, but put some space between them when Ms. Finch told them to. Amber's stomach clenched with nerves when the woman told them they would be attempting to apparate for the first time today. She hoped she wouldn't hurt herself in some horrible way. Amber raised her hand at the question about the three Ds, as she had reminded herself of them only minutes before the lesson started, but Flavio got picked to answer instead. She gave her friend a quick smile before focusing her attention on the teacher again. Amber felt nervous as the nurse was pointed out to them. Was it really that dangerous? She winced visibly as the teacher told them about what to do when they splinched, especially when she added bleeding to the mix. Amber paled and clenched her hands into fists, glancing at Ainsley for support. Her girlfriend didn't seem too bothered by this, so Amber tried to relax as well. She wasn't entirely sure what to do, but started off by looking at the hoop in front of her. She tried to think of the three Ds. First trying to visualise her destination, then try to be determined and deliberate at the same time. But the moment she felt anything, she lost focus because she was so worried she would splinch. Amber bit her lip and glanced around, jealous to see Flavio had accomplished it. She kept trying, but that turned into pretending to try when it became clear she simply didn't dare to apparate yet. Visions of herself splinched kept popping up in her head. When the time was up, she was disappointed in herself. Amber was used to succeeding in her classes, but now she had definitely failed. Hopefully, she would manage it next time. Otherwise she didn't think she would be allowed to even try the exam.

Noemie knew that she could use the valentines day dance and the roses before to help declare feelings for Asmodeus, and they would spend the time together, she knew it. The ravenclaw had never been so certain about something, and unlike with her classes, she knew the result would be exactly what she wanted. It wasn’t however the only thing she had to think about that week, she had a little more. The quidditch game at the end of the week, after the valentines event was important, if they won that they won the cup and that was the most important thing. The ravenclaw was getting herself ready for the day. She was looking forward to what joys the week would bring for her. She had to focus on her classes yes, but she had so much else that she would be able to do. The teen was smiling and getting herself together for the day. She had gone for an early morning run, and after it, got ready with a small smile on her face and a skip in her step. It was perhaps the first time in a long while that Noemie’s mornings weren’t filled with worrying about how she would do in the exams and what that would mean for the future, if she kept her grades at what they were, she’d be able to continue all her classes and in the next year she could work even harder. With that she ensured she had everything before walking out the room.

Noemie had been reading and reading, and goodness was she nervous about what this class would bring. She knew they’d get to actually do the apparition and she was damn nervous about it. What it might bring her, how difficult it might end up being. She wasn’t too sure she really wanted to learn it with the chance of what could happen looming. She walked into the great hall when the doors opened and the class was allowed in. Her gaze shifted between the different things in the room, settling upon the professor as the woman got started. She spaced herself out from others and looked forward as a wooden hoop appeared in front of her. So they really would be doing this. The girl nodded and listened along, remembering the D’s but having very little confidence to actually say that to the professor. The Ravenclaw instead just focused until the professor told them they could get started. She cleared her mind, just trying her best to focus on the task. Getting rid of the nervousness with it. She could do this. She could definitely do this. Noemie allowed her mind to know where it was going, to see it, to visualise it, to determine that she need to get there, and with a feeling that lasted less than a second and with an audible pop was in the middle of the hoop. She didn’t have any time to do it again, but felt confident that she’d manage it again come the next class of apparition.

Rory didn’t have a girlfriend currently and the girl he was maybe admittedly a little interested in didn’t want anything to do with him at all. He couldn’t help but feel a little lost about how to deal with this week, he usually sent roses to the girls he was flirting with, but didn’t want to do that. Flirting was usually fun but it had lost its flavour in the boy’s mouth, he flirted with people he knew wouldn’t ever want him back. He flirted with people he was sure didn’t like him in the slightest, well, who wouldn’t like him in the way that it would ever lead to anything, but it seemed pretty pointless to even do that. He would probably still send a couple but maybe they could be less flirty, and maybe he should send an apology one to Anabelle, maybe. He would see if he was up to it. It would depend, but he would certainly be going to the valentines event alone. But there were bigger things to focus on, the quidditch game for one and technically he had classes, but they were dull and he was going to them and thinking about quidditch. He made sure that he had both his quidditch and school stuff each day that week. He got the last bits and pieces together and went to the first class of the day.

Rory had been doing so work towards the second apparition lesson, and the first where he would actually get the opportunity to actually apparate. He walked to the great hall, entering the room as the last few people did too. He immediately found a spot a little away from others, he didn’t want to get this wrong and he wanted to show he could do it with relative ease. It was the thing that would open up everything else for him. It was the class that would make his life a whole lot easier, so it was natural for him to want to do well. The lecture the professor gave went on longer than Rory might’ve wanted but, eventually it was just him, the three D’s and the hoop. Now that all of it was in front of him and it was really up to him to get it the boy felt a little nervous. He needed to do this, and he needed to do it right. He just focused on all he knew about apparition, all this woman had told him, all that the various family members told him about, everything. The teen knew what he was looking for and kept his mind focused on that goal. He eventually felt the pull of it, and leaned in, allowing his mind and the work he’d put into this pay off as he managed to apparate into the right place. The teen was pretty proud of himself and smiled. He even got the chance to try again just the once more before the class was dismissed. He had this.

Ainsley couldn't remember the last time she had been as excited for anything as she was to learn to teleport. Apparate. No matter how much she reminded herself what it was called, the years of reading muggle books about people teleporting made it difficult to switch words in her mind. She made her way into the Great Hall eagerly, joining her classmates as they listened to the apparition teacher begin the lesson. Ainsley was a little saddened at the reminder to spread out, having wanted to stay close to Amber, but her excitement to get started quickly overtook the disappointment as she spread out, listening to the teacher excitedly. She couldn't resist bouncing on her toes in joy as the woman confirmed that they would actually be trying to apparate on their own today, hands flapping in excitement. She listened as Flavio recited the three D-s that had been swirling around her mind ever since their first lesson. Ainsley's excitement was only stifled by the woman's cryptic comment about “splinching”. Ainsley considered asking what exactly that meant, but she could only assume that it was unpleasant, and she just decided to hope she didn't find out today, and look it up on her own time as soon as class was over.

Now, though, it was time to actually practice. Despite the unrest at the mention of this mysterious splinching, Ainsley's excitement wasn't much diminished as she took place in front of her hoop, the three D-s circling around her mind as she began to focus. At first this almost felt a little silly, just focusing really hard and expecting to teleport, but after a moment Ainsley began to feel a peculiar tugging that reminded her of portkeys, the unexpected sensation startling enough that it broke her concentration, and stopped as soon as it had started. Realising quickly how close she had gotten, Ainsley turned her focus to the hoop again, this time not resisting when the strange tugging began to build up again. It only took a few more moments until suddenly with a pop Ainsley found herself standing in the middle of the hoop. Laughing and clapping with delight, Ainsley turned her attention back to where she had first been standing. She managed to apparate back and forth in and out of the hoop a few more times before class was finished. It was only as she was looking around at the end of class that she realised Amber hadn't managed to apparate once. Heart sinking she made her way to her girlfriend's side and left the room with her, trying to think of ways to cheer Amber up.

November knew this type of magic travel would be very useful after school, she could easily use it to get from place to place and the stronger she got with it the farther she potentially could go. But she knew the feeling of it and no matter how many times she'd leave the school grounds with her Aunt and apparate to her Aunt's home she never liked the feeling. The pulling feeling no matter how quick it was always left her a little weird feeling afterwards. She felt a little nervous knowing they were meant to practice today, she was scared of hurting herself. For the first few minutes she stood watching her boyfriend try to complete the magic. After noting in her head the teacher walking around watching she decided to work on it herself. It wasn't charms right? surely it couldn't be that hard. Destination, she looked ahead through the hoop and at the floor where she was meant to go. She wasn't sure if with the magic she'd actually go through the hoop or rather just appear on the other side, either way she understood how show dogs felt being asked to jump through hoops, silly but there was a reward waiting on the other side.

Those thoughts helped her with determination. She knew she had to get to the other side if she ever wanted to be able to apparate outside of school. Gulping she looked at the floor through the hoop imagining her feet firmly planted there. She deliberately pictured herself on the other side of the hoop facing the same way she currently was just over there and not here. Closing her eyes she continued to will herself to the spot focusing on her three D's. At first she didn't feel anything different, she knew what it would feel like but tried not to think about that feeling, instead choosing to focus and not let herself feel scared. After a few minutes she opened her eyes and looked at the spot again, Flavio was already across the hoop she could see that from the corner of her eye. She didn't want to be the last one though she had a feeling she would be. Closing her eyes again she focused and felt a pulling and suddenly felt nausea over taking her causing her to stumble forward and land on her knees and throw up on the floor. She felt so embarrassed as she started to help clean up the vomit that she hadn't realized she'd done it, she crossed through the hoop to the other side. Turning she saw herself on the same side as Flavio confused she looked back finally figuring out she'd done it, and hadn't hurt herself other than throwing up all over the floor she felt triumphant!

Lizzie had been eager for the next apparition lesson all week. She couldn't wait to actually get started trying to apparate. It was going to make life so much easier, finally being able to go wherever she wanted whenever she wanted. She followed the rest of the class into the Great Hall, waiting impatiently as the teacher took roll. She spread out quickly when they were told to, eager to begin, and listened as the woman explained what they were doing today. Watching the hoop appear in front of her, she grinned, eager to get going.

Lizzie was barely even listening as Flavio listed off the three D-s, too eager to get going and try apparating for herself. She fidgeted restlessly, unable to stay still for so long when there was something so exciting just moments away. And then finally, it was time to try! Lizzie stared into her hoop and took a nervous breath, focusing on where she wanted to be and trying to get there. Trying to get there. She stared and stared, picturing herself popping into the hoop neatly, but as much as Lizzie stared, nothing was happening. Frustrated, she gritted her teeth and narrowed her eyes, focusing in more and more. She just had to... be there. Lizzie's frustration with her lack of progress only grew more as she saw her classmates beginning to succeed around her, and she still wasn't feeling anything at all yet. It was difficult to stay focused with her magic completely letting her down but Lizzie did her best, staring deeply into the hoop. The lesson was almost over when she finally, finally began to feel a tug in her stomach. At the feeling though, Lizzie immediately lost focus, and her excitement turned to frustration as the sensation quickly vanished. The lesson was beginning to come to an end, and she still hadn't managed anything. Desperate for at least one success Lizzie stared into the hoop, focusing with all her might, and after doing her best to draw on the intensity she felt on the Quidditch pitch, finally, finally, she felt the tugging again and gave herself over to it, squealing with delight as a moment later she popped into the center of the hoop. Exhausted but relieved to have actually managed it, Lizzie wished there was some way she could get more practice before the next lesson, though as she left the Great Hall the thrill of having managed to apparate hadn't yet left her.

Evelyn walked into the Great Hall for her second lesson and was wondering what they would be doing today. She made sure that she found a good spot and listened to Professor Finch. Evelyn had joined someone with a side-along apparition together with her dad, but now she could learn for herself and she could go alone to the muggle world to see fashion shows and other stuff. She smiled as Professor Finch told them that they would be practicing. Evelyn pointed her hand in the air but Flavio was chosen instead. It was good for him but Evelyn wanted to help Gryffindor with points. If in this class there were even points handed out, she hoped at least. Evelyn didn't really wanted to be helped by a nurse so she paid good attention and listened. She was not afraid but a bit nervous. She just wanted it to be ok.

When it was their turn to begin the blonde sighted and looked around her. People didn't succeeded yet but the blonde wanted too. She closed her eyes and thought of the place she wanted to go. It would be fun to just be out of the castle but that would be really bad if that happend, and she had a feeling that, that didn't even worked right now. The blonde decided to not think too hard for the first time. She thought of the place right in front of her where she saw Amber standing. When she closed her eyes and felt something in her stomach. She didn't hoped she would become sick, that happend once before when she went with her father alongside. When she opened her eyes again she stood at the same spot as she was standing. Not even a bit further and the blonde was a bit frustrated. Than she closed her eyes again and tried to concentrate more without thinking of the nurse and what could happen. Just do it Evelyn, she thought. When she opened her eyes again she noticed how she had apparate to the right place and looked at Amber who was standing close to her. Evelyn almost jumped into the air and was glad it worked. Now she was more confident to try more. She practiced until the lesson was over.

Hayden had left the first apparition lesson itching to return and actually begin learning to apparate. It would be amazing to be able to travel by himself without needing a chaperone everywhere he went and it meant he would be able to spend a lot more time with Xena over the coming holidays. Hayden made his way into the great hall, he moved to find himself some space in the hall as the instructor told them to do so. He found a spot on the far side of the Great hall in front of one of the hoops. He listened to the instructor as she asked if anyone could remember the three D's. Of course he did, he'd been thinking a lot about them in the build up to the second lesson but he wasn't in the mood to answer. Of course it would be Flavio who answered, the Ravenclaw was such a kiss a** it made Hayden sick, not that he spent much time thinking about the boy. When he was finally done it was time for them to actually practice apparating.

Once they were given the go ahead to begin Hayden stared down the hoop in front of him. He was actually a little nervous. It wasn't like practicing a normal spell where failing wouldn't mean much, if he failed at apparating it could lead to splinching himself which wouldn't be pleasant. He closed his eyes and concentrated on the three D's and his destination on the other side of the hoop. Hayden felt a pulling sensation in the pit of his stomach, like he was being pulled inward, it was uncomfortable but at least something was happening. He opened his eyes and hadn't move, but how was that possible. Hayden sighed and tried again, once again he felt the pull and almost like he was going to through up. When he opened his eyes his hoop was no longer in front of him but he was much further across the hall than he wanted to be, but he'd apparated, it was a start. When the lesson was over Hayden made his way out of the Great hall and headed back to the common room. It was something at least.
