Y48 Sorting Reactions

Sorting is still a short while away, but that doesn't mean we can't have some exciting sorting chats here! It's never too early, right? As always, we love to hear your thoughts and reactions as we work through the process of sorting and transfers and exchanges! This is always such a fun time!

]Are you having a character sorted or transferred this year? Maybe more than one? Ten? (You know who you are.

Are you going to try for an exchange student?

Where do you think your character will end up?

Do you think they'll be happy about where they end up? How is it going to impact their first year or their entire schooling? Do you think the sorting hat will have a difficult time placing them? Any character expecting that the sorting hat won't be able to place them and they'll have to go home?

If you've already been sorted: Did you get what you/your character expected? Did the sorting hat say something funny to you? What'd you think of that? How nervous was your character to be sorted? How nervous were you?

I did 2 in a year once and that became unmanageable, 1 a year is probably too frequent as it is for me...

Current stats for my sorts since returning are 3 puff, 3 claw, 3 slyth...1 gryff I should hope for Peregrine to be a Gryffindor for balance at this point.

I've also realized no matter what house Jono goes into, since he's my.. 17th (wtf) sort, he'll be the one that shifts my completely even house distribution lol. So far I've had 4 in each house

For me that's crazy cause Doyle is my 16th student. I'm catching up with my one a year

edit: also my house spread is crazy 3 gryffs, 5 slytherin, 4 ravenclaw, and 3 puffs.

I typed a lot for Theo's app, and I think this is the first time i went into real detail about it on a character omg! But after doing the app, I feel he could either be a Hufflepuff or a Gryffindor, but i can still see a hint of Ravenclaw within him, but we shall see hehe!

Omg I've lost track of how many students I've sorted, and the distribution, but I know I've had fewer Slytherins than any other house. The other 3 are probably about equal

Having written out Finley's app, i really am leaning towards Gryffindor, but I think he could also make a good case for Ravenclaw, still hard to say, but it's more and more like one of those things where he's shaped by the people he meets

Knew I'd be away for the start of sorting, but glad I didn't miss too much while I was up north!

I'm sorting Aleja Morales this year, wheeeee!!! I've hit a run of a bunch of upcoming years where the characters I have planned are all kids I've had lurking in the background since they were born, so it's exciting finally getting to bring them to the forefront!

Aleja is Ignacio & Ruby's oldest daughter, and Vivian Brackenstall's younger half-sister. She's the older of twins, and her sister Carolina is starting Hogwarts this year too. She's a quiet one, always lurking without people noticing there, and as a result she tends to wind up knowing everyone's secrets. (Am I hoping to get her writing the HM gossip column???? Maybe...............) She doesn't tend to be cruel with the information she gathers, she's just curious and likes getting people's stories. She could very easily be tempted towards cruelty though, so I'm excited to see what direction life takes her. She's one whose development could go in a whole lotta ways depending on her experiences, which is always fun to play with.

As far as houses, having done her form I think either Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. I think Hufflepuff is most likely, but I can see any of the three, and I'm excited to see how wherever she winds up affects her as she grows!

P proud I've kept them all around (bar one) & managed to keep general tabs on what they're all up to and where they're at in life. I really don't like characters just kind of fading & vanishing, (it's the perfectionism) so I try (try) never to sort more than I can keep up with in the moment & commit in future to keeping at very least some kind of vague outline of where their lives are all at at any given time, even if I haven't RPed them in forever. I still feel kind of weird abt the one sorted character I did banish into the aether, but we don't talk about her (edit: ok i banished two to the aether but one of those was in 2010)

What a fun thing to wake up to! Glad I was right after filling out the form. There were like 2 sentences I wrote that I remember feeling very sure pushed him into Puff.

But in terms of house spread my current students are still as even as they ever will be with my one a year pace with 2, 2, 2, and 1 in Ravenclaw respectively.

I really wasn't sure which way she'd go, and I even wondered if she might end up in Slytherin even, but she is veeery happy in Gryffindor!!

I have my boy here and I'm excited for him, he's going to be a menace. He's arrogant, sporty, a little mean but also kinda charming (I hope) and I think he's going to cause a lot of drama at Hogwarts when he's a bit older

He's very different from his sister Hazel, but I do think he'll likely be in her house and be another Slytherin. Another option I could see is Gryffindor.

Honestly, as I was writing out the form I was almost convinced that he'd end up in Hufflepuff after all. However, it appears as though the Gryffindor in him shone through and my instincts ended up being correct after all.

Quite honestly was not surprised by Mania's sorting in the end. When I filled out the form I kept going in my head "It's giving Gryffindor." However the Hat's lil comment to her made me crack up, on behalf of Mania, she is not sorry and would like to have another chat with the hat!

Well, I guess she is!

A bit surprised, I thought her Hufflepuff traits were stronger though I could see the Gryffindor side peering through as I wrote it. Also didn't think I'd be able to get a Gryffindor without very actively trying for one, so I guess that's just another way this girl has surprised me. I'm certainly not complaining, it'll be interesting to see how she goes!

Ahhh Theo in Ravenclaw!! I could tell that he might be sorted to Ravenclaw, though i thought it was more of a Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, but I think Ravenclaw will quite suit him! I can’t wait to roleplay more of him hehe!

Hufflepuff, hufflepuff, hufflepuff! Spent this morning just randomly chanting that while doing basic tasks lol. I feel like I haven't had a hufflepuff in ages but it's only really been one IC year. Hēmi's only my 7th sort, but I like to keep an even spread. 2 gryffindors, 1 ravenclaw, 2 slytherins, and 2 hufflepuffs are my stats.

Anyway, excited to see what happens for this year's firsties!
