Here's a dwell deeper into each relationship with Mania and her family members. These relationships may change over time and will be adjusted accordingly. Each member of her family bears a different role and emotion in Mania's life.

Sofia Athanasiou; Mum, Mama; Disapproval

Growing up Mania always adored her mum, her beauty, grace and skills as a healer. Nia would strive to try and get her mama's approval, often causing a lot of chaos unintentionally which lead to her mum's disapproving glances and eventually complete disapproval. No matter how much or how little she did Mania always felt like there was something her mum would pick on. Perhaps it was that Sofia had always wanted a son, perhaps it was Mania's way of living life loudly, but there was always something.

As the years went on Nia continued to try and impress her mum and as she went to Hogwarts she thought she'd finally succeed in that task only to do bad in Potions and return home with a bad grade and to endless amount of disapproval and complaints. In her mama's eyes Mania has become the example of what her children should not be, which is made clear every chance she gets. Though there has never been much of affection showed to the daughter's of the Athanasiou family by their mum after the birth of her little brother Mania has realized just how much love she was denied.

In her second year Mania is starting to try and distance herself from the idea of how to impress her mum and instead she is trying to find who she is, because there's no point in trying to get approval from someone who is set on disapproval by default.

Mania's relationship with her mum hasn't gotten any better in the time she's spent at Hogwarts. The school has become her home and a place for her to escape the negativity that she feels at home, but it only heightens the experience when she goes back. It feels worse every time because at school she's surrounded by friends, by people that either like her or their opinion on her isn't fully present or of influence in her life. At the end of her first year she had a chat about her want to be like her mum with an older student and she was able to make the decision to follow her own path, not try to reach for what she thought would make her mama approve of her.

While at school she was always able to forget her mum, but that all changed in her third year when she had a lesson where she had to come up face to face with her Boggart. The shapeshifter took on the form of her mother and shook Mania to the very core. Something about seeing her mum in the place that was so sacred and safe for her nearly broke her confidence completely. Mania's feelings about her mum are conflicted at best, but through the words of those around her she's found the courage to face the feelings in order to pave her way forward.

Jason Athanasiou; Dad, Baba; Indifference

Unlike her mama Mania never really craved too much of her father's approval and thus she never tried too hard. Even then it was clear if she'd tried it would have been in vain as the common feeling her father represented in her life was indifference. Baba had his favourites but Nia was never among them, though she tried to mirror his indifference a part of her cared, maybe even too much. His father never really chastised Mania like her mama did, only ever stepping in when asked for support by the woman, which sort of made him the favourite parent for the girl. At least one of them didn't nitpick every single thing she did and find something to disapprove of.

Starting at Hogwarts there wasn't much for Nia to try and impress her baba by doing since he'd never much cared for things outwardly other than Quidditch and that was an immediate no for Mania. Though a part of her always wished the dad would show at least some emotion, anything was better than the emptiness of indifference.

Hera Athanasiou; Hera, Rah; Admiration, Envy

Hera, who is the oldest of the Athanasiou children, has always been more of a parent than either of those that were supposed to be one. She's always looked after the younger children, even while at school she'd worry about them and write home, every break she'd come home just to spend some time with her sisters. Mania adores her sister but there's also an underlying sense of envy. Hera is always used in comparison to her, it's always be like Hera not like Mania. They are the two oldest and the examples of what not to be and what to be, though Rah always makes sure to tell Nia not to listen to that. That she's special and perfect in her own way and good enough as she is. Mania values and respects her sisters opinion a lot.

Gaia Athanasiou; Gaia, Gaipoo, Gai; Love, Safety, Shelter

Gaia is only 9 months younger than Mania, making them very close in age and thus they grew up close. Out of all her siblings Gaia is the closest one with Nia, she feels like protecting Gaia with every fiber of her being. Even though her sister is less than sociable most of the time there's a sense of calm and comfort they find in each other. In ways their polar opposites complete each other.

During Gaia's first year at Hogwarts the sisters grew even closer. Being continents away from any other family it was truly just the two of them there for each other. They supported each other when needed, even if Gaia was at first less than willing to admit it. Mania is ever so proud of her younger sister for managing to come out of her shell a little bit and actually form connections such as her friendship with a Ravenclaw in her year.

Eris Athanasiou; Ris, Windy; Love, Protect, Admiration

Eris may not be Mania's sister by blood, nor are the two related by blood, but she is her sister in every other way and thus in every way that it matters. Eris was adopted by Mania's parents when she was a little over a year old after her parents passed suddenly, she was brought up along the sisters. Mania feels a sense of protectiveness over the young Slytherin and there isn't many lines she isn't willing to cross to keep her safe, that being said she isn't always the most sensible but neither is her sister and at worst they feed off of each others energies. Mania sometimes calls Eris by the nickname "Windy" because according to Nia her sister is often 'gone with the wind.'
