Open Y38 Start of Year Feast!

Bern was so curious because he searches for his cousin and he knows that will be in the same house as Gryffindor but he so far to his position, Bern listen about what the speech of our Head Master and for rules not to go to the forbidden forest and Bern so happy because this beginning of his journey at Hogwarts school and he wish that he get more friends on the other houses also, Bern waiting for another event like these, and wait to my Cousin.

Sydney had her chin tucked into her palm, rolling her eyes as sorting finished and Professor Alicastell got started on her usual spiel for the year. Things never seemed to change around here, and Sydney couldn’t care less about the new first years in their house. The lower year students had stopped mattering to her a long time ago, though she had caught herself looking up knowingly at Simon when she caught a boy with the name “Thorne” joining their table.

Another change she noted, was Daintree now also sporting a prefect badge. At least she had more company for those wretched meetings, she supposed. “So they got you too, huh,” she asked him once the feast began in earnest, leaning over the table to tap his prefect badge. @Daintree Vaskevold

Michael was glad to have spent the train ride with Kas, even if it meant spending it with Amelia, too. He didn't mind his little sister, but the age difference did sometimes cause a damper on things. Like when he would have just preferred to be alone with Kas. At the same time, he still was glad Amelia ended up in Gryffindor. It was no surprise to him, and seeing as their oldest sister had been a Ravenclaw, they now had a good array of house experience in the family. Michael was faminshed, even with snacking on the train. He filled his plate as he sat near his friends, hoping Amelia would find some of the first years to befriend.

Elara quickly found a seat at the Gryffindor table, excited to watch the sorting ceremony from afar this year. It was very nervewracking last year, and she empathized with the new students having to go through the process. At the end of the sorting, Elara looked around at the Gryffindor table for her friends. She knew they would see each other soon, but it would nice to have dinner with them.

Ryan had spent most of the sorting ceremony trying to figure out how many years he'd gone without being able to clearly see the professor's table from his spot in the hall. Now, he could see them so much better, though he'd discovered even with his new glasses, sitting as far back in the hall as possible would make it hard to see anyone. It also made the sound carry a bit weirdly and Ryan was caught by surprise when it was suddenly time to actually eat. He was famished though, having spent most of his train ride having a weird conversation with Connor Holland before ending up making himself motion sick trying to read, so Ryan hadn't really eaten since breakfast. He dug in, only sparing a few glances to see, with the power of his new glasses, could pick out were Finn, Alexander, or Augustus had ended up sitting.

Ronald is so amazed that his cousin is in Hogwarts and another surprise that he sorted at Gryffindor same as my House Ronald try to welcome his cousin but he so far to his position, Ronald try to welcome Bern at his common room. Ronald is so happy that he and Lumio will be in getting to know each other stage and he thinks that his cousin will be meeting on the same floor and common room because we're all in the Gryffindor House, Ronald so excited about what will happen for this year. After all, he's the 3rd year student now and Ronald sure that he takes all of the elective subjects for this year and tries his luck for the next dueling tournament.

Oliver had been sorted into Hufflepuff. Whatever that meant. He hoped it was a good thing and he would belong there because he already felt like a fish out of water and it was just day one. While the next person got sorted he found himself a seat at the Hufflepuff table and some nearby student congratulated him and the boy nodded his head politely but didn't respond. Instead Oliver looked around him, mesmerized by the changing sky on the ceiling. It was the strangest thing he'd ever seen. After sorting had ended he listened to the principal or whatever talk about the rules. He swallowed hard at the idea of a forbidden place - he couldn't even imagine what dangers were in such a forest letting his young imagination get the better of him. When the House Elves were mentioned, Oli tried to hide a puzzled look on his face. If people had to be reminded that slavery was not okay he wasn't sure how he felt about those people. After the announcement had been said and done food appeared on the long table all around. His eyes widened at the sheer volume of food and while others dug in immediately he couldn't decide what to go for first.

"Aw what," Sully muttered, having watched his brother awkwardly lope up to the hat only for it to announce he was in Hufflepuff. "This is bogus," he said again later, picking at his food sourly as he sat next to Michael. Michael's sister had managed to make it into Gryffindor and Sully was trying not to resent his roommate for it. "You think I can hit my brother's massive head with a potato from here?" he ended up landing on, standing up ever so slightly to see over the crowd in the hall and try to spot René. Sully had spent so long resigning himself to the idea that René was going to be in Gryffindor, as annoying as that would be, he was feel gutted now that it wasn't even going to be the case. @Michael Newton

While Salem wasn’t exactly thrilled be back at boring school again, it was at least fun to see the sorting ceremony from the other side this time. She could also pay way more attention to the hat and its song this year, which she’d missed in her excitement last year.

Once the ceremony was over, which Salem somehow felt took both way longer and yet went far quicker than hers had last year, she was eager to get to dinner, happy to catch up with anyone she hadn’t seen on the train. “Elara, you’ve got to teach me how to do that roll-y thing you did at the mall party, that was so cool,” Salem gushed, making a circular motion with her finger before belatedly remember to hold a hand over to her mouth as she spoke while chewing. @Elara Chatelain

Rosalie felt accepted when she sat with her table after she was sorted, they clapped for her and some welcomed her to their house. It was nice, and a first. Sitting down next to other first years, Rosalie listened intently on what her new headmaster had to say, followng her motions towards the proffessors behind her so she knew who was who. After that, Rosalie kinda drifted off when her headmaster droned on about boring things like the hospital wing and such.

Perking up a bit at the word 'forbidden', Rosalie started to listen again and was now curious on what and where the Forbidden Forest is, not that she was going to inverstigat maybe. Rosalie was quite confused she heard the term 'House elves' as well, she had never heard of such thing before and didn't know what it was other than the fact it was an elf in a house. It seemed that their was a bit Rosa had to learn about this new world, and she wasnt upset about it either, infact she was excited to discover as much as she can about her new reality. As the headmaster finished her long speech, immediatly the table was filled with food. It was the craziest thing Rosalie had ever seen, but it was also the best thing too.

Grabbing the closest food near her, Rosalie took a bite from the juicy chicken drumstick and sighed with appreciation. Maybe it won't be so bad here afterall.

River smiled brightly as she took in the chaos of the Great Hall once more. It was only last year that she was packed with all her classmates up front, waiting for the Sorting Hat to determine her fate. Now she was sitting comfortably at the Slytherin table, her bright blue hair seeming out of place. The young Slytherin girl already knew her place at Hogwarts, which was slightly a relief to be honest. Now she was able to enjoy watching the mostly panicked first years be sorted and find their own places. River clapped loudly as many were placed into Slytherin, even though some of the students around her did not do the same. River knew she did belong in Slytherin, however sometimes she felt she might be a little too bubbly to be in this house. Either way there was no changing it now and no one should complain about her behaviour. She after all had tried her hardest to help Slytherin win the house cup, even if her older sister's house had succeeded in that task last year. This year would be different.

As the sorting came to an end, River listened to the speech. She wondered why they had to put the note about the house elves. Could people really be so rude to treat them like slaves when the house elves did nothing but help the students. River remembered some of her journeys to the kitchen, smiling brightly at the kind creatures who wanted nothing more than to help her. She wondered who could be mean to them, certainly no one River wanted to be associated it.

The food was soon served, thanks to the hard work from those very house elves. River quickly filled her plate with food, piling on maybe a little too much. All of break she had basically lived off microwavable meals. Her and her sister were not the best at cooking and her mother, as always, had been too busy for family dinners. River did not hesitate to take a bite of delicious mash potatoes, not from a bag. A smile fell over her face as she ate and listened to the noise around her. She certainly missed being here at Hogwarts.

Professor Kingsley was nearly clapped out from sorting but she'd reserved a few for the introduction of her colleagues, nodding her head as she was introduced. The woman looked down the Gryffindor table, only able to easily see the first few students before the lighting made it difficult to make too much else out. As the Headmistress finished her speech, Cyndi reached for a roll and began to fill her plate. "Had a nice holiday?" she asked the colleague beside her.

Nicole drummed her fingers on the tabletop, doing her best to try and at least look like she was listening as the start of year speeches got rolling now that sorting was finished. The start of year feast was always Nicole's least favourite and, not for the first time, she wished she had more friends in her own house. It would make these sorts of events far more enjoyable. She glanced around tentatively for one of her roommates or classmates to maybe chat to as the feast proper got started.

Not spotting anyone close enough, Nicole instead focused on a new Slytherin who she'd seen immediately pull out a sketch book after joining them at their table. "Hey, welcome to Slytherin! Aren't you hungry?" she said, deciding talking to the new first years was probably the proper prefect thing to do, and very nice of her to boot. @Rhys Garner

Brooke had already settled her mind on her goals for this year. She was going to be better, on all fronts. Better socially, better in class, better in her extracurriculars. She was already doing pretty well, it wouldn't be hard to step it up another notch or two. Clapping politely as the feast got underway, Brooke shook her head, wondering who on Earth was stupid enough to want to actually go into the Forbidden Forest. Though it would be easier to get top of her class if a few of her peers got eaten by a hag or something.

Speaking of top of the class though, Brooke smiled when she spotted the younger girl near her at the time, giving her a little wave hello. "Hey, you're River, right? Weren't you top points earner for us last year?" Brooke was asking, but she already knew the answer. The blue hair was new, but Brooke had kept meticulous track of her own points, and getting pipped at the post by a younger student hadn't sat well with her. But having a friend who was top points earner seemed a lot better a move than making an enemy of one, so Brooke kept her smile firmly in place despite her envy. @River Hopkins-Vance

Michael hadn't realized Sully had a brother coming to Hogwarts this year. Maybe he had told him, but his brain was always thinking of the next thing and tended to forget important stuff. Trying to eye his roommate's potential trajectory, Michael shook his head. "Nah, there's too many firsties in the way. But we could lure him to a more acceptable spot," he joked, even though he was kind of serious if Sully really wanted to fling a potato across the Great Hall. He'd figure that they might get in trouble, but it would be fun to see Sully's girlfriend have to take away points from him now that she was a prefect. @Solomon Tofilau

Samantha was always amazed when it came to the sorting ceremony. To be honest, the girl would probably not get bored of it. She was always intrigued on who would go where. She was excited this year, as she had her cousins joining Hogwarts this year, and was also interested to see what houses they'd be sorted into this year. However, she was a little disappointed with the outcome. Most of her family members here had been sorted into Gryffindor. But her disappointment was slowly sunken away when the food arrived. The young Hufflepuff loved food. So she dug into her food fairly quickly. She hadn't realised how hungry she was.

Elara was glad when she eventually found herself next to Salem and started to fill her plate, absolutely famished from the train ride over. While she would miss her dad's cooking over the next few months, the food made by the elves was at least decent. "Do you mean the aeriel? It looks like a cartwheel with no hands?" she asked curiously, and then took a big bite of her apple. She had been grateful that at least one student had seen her perform and knew she wasn't just making up the circus stuff. Some kids at this school thought she was weird, but seeing as it was her life goal to eventually take over the circus, she thought they were the weird ones. She could fly in the air without a broom. Who wouldn't want that? "Did you have a good rest of your break?" @Salem Lee

Seraphina did not want to be at school - she would much rather be back in Italy, hugging her nonna. But that wasn't an option anymore. Part of her had hoped that maybe there was a chance her nonna would turn into a ghost so she could at least still talk to her the rest of her life, but she had been sorely disappointed in that idea. Either that, or her nonna was hiding from her, which she doubted. Her mother had only come back from Italy the day before, and it had been the push she needed to at least get on the train. But seeing as she was back with no friends and no one to write letters to, the outlook of the next few months was going to be very bleak. Seraphina took a seat at the edge of the Gryffindor table, visibly annoyed each time the students were cheer for a new first year. She quickly grabbed some food to eat and tried to finish it fast in hopes she'd be allowed to leave and hide in her room.

Sawyer spent half the sorting ceremony struggling to come to terms with the realization that Felix would be one of the new first years next year. He’d just gotten used to it being just him and The at school it was strange to imagine Felix sitting at one of the house tables as well. He had no idea how Dad would cope when it was just him and Thistle left.

He was thankfully saved from that line of thinking when the fear proper started, turning to start loading up his plate. He snorted when he saw a new first year skip straight to dessert, shaking his head in amusement. “You should probably at least pretend to eat something green first,” Sawyer said to the boy, squinting at a plate something he surmised might be kale before scooping some carrots on his plate instead. @Zachariah Ezekiel King

Zachariah looked up suddenly. He was sure he was the only one not eating the actual food. He looked to his side to see the boy who had spoken. Zachariah shrugged. "I prefer eating sweeter stuff," Zachariah said simply. Thinking it over again maybe the boy was right. He was always getting grilled about the number of sweets he consumed, which was a lot. So pretending to actually eat healthier stuff might be the best solution. "On second thought I guess you are right." Zachariah sighed. He wasn't exactly talking to the boy just thinking out loud. Zachariah scanned the table again. He took some salad, about the amount he could fit in his hand if he picked it up. It wasn't a lot but the sooner he finished that the sooner he could go back to eating his dessert. Zachariah looked at the older kid as if to say "See I have my greens now." and smiled weakly.

Kas had been feeling an unsettled, itchy feeling since coming back to school. Usually he was pretty apathetic about both the holidays and school, but this year he'd actually found he'd weirdly enjoyed his break. It seemed counter intuitive to his own carefully cultivated personality to say he missed his job, and Lysander was barely a stone's throw away, so it wasn't like he missed spending time with him, so Kas didn't know what he was all worked up over. He made a point of stretching out as much as he could before sorting got started, hoping to save a spot for Freya or Connor before relaxing into his usual bored slouch until everything was over and it was actually time to eat.

Rhys was surprised for a moment when it seemed as though someone was trying to talk to him. The first year blinked, curiously peering up from his sketchbook to look at the older girl, eyes instantly shifting down to the prefect badge on her robes. But his gaze didn't linger for long before he looked back at her face, shaking his head slightly in response to the question, "I'm fine." Truth of the matter was he didn't really trust the weird magically appearing food all too much and wasn't sure he wanted to put any in his mouth.
@Nicole Fisk

Aerin had a good break, of course there was the mishap with her lost wand, which she still couldn't find but that didn't matter. She now had a ridiculously huge wand now so she'd never lose it, it was almost downright impossible. Mirim was now in Hogwarts too and after hearing about her haul from Gambol and Jape's she decided to at least try and avoid her for the first bit of the year, maybe she'd lose her will to get into trouble by the end of the year. Aerin did like causing trouble, but she'd rather not get herself expelled.

Aerin grabbed some food onto her plate and started to chow down on some chicken. As she was eating, she heard a familiar voice having a conversation right across from her. "A cartwheel with no hands? That sounds awesome!" She interjected, to no one in particular but towards the direction that she heard the voices from. "You've got to teach me too." Aerin grinned.

River continued to work on eating the good amount of food she had on her plate. It was almost as if she had forgotten how amazing the house elves were at cooking. Although she knew she would never be able to have such a little friend at her house, it seemed house elves were for only certain families and certainly not a family like hers. It would be a nice thought though. River was taking a rather large bite of chicken when she noticed an older girl wave at her. The blue haired girl looked around almost wondering if the wave was meant for someone else. However as the older Slytherin girl addressed her by name, River knew the wave was directed at her.

"Oh yeah" River said with a smile as the older student mentioned that she was the top points earner last year. It was an accomplishment, even if River's older sister had been mad at her for weeks. In reality, River felt Emmaline was still slightly upset that she had not gotten the top points as well. Can't change that River thought trying not to dwell on the topic that had caused many fights between her and her sister this break. "It was a lot of work, but I guess you have to go big!" She added as she pushed a strand of hair away from her face. "I'm sorry" River added as she looked at the older girl sitting next to her. "You know my name, but I'm not sure I know yours." The young girl said hoping that this fellow Slytherin would introduce herself.

After having a slightly 'strained' holiday with her family, Skylar was glad to be back at Hogwarts, and happy to see all the new faces of students who were joining as first years. She couldn't believe that had been her once, it seemed so long ago, and yet she wasn't even halfway through her time at Hogwarts. She had clapped enthusiastically for every student, and in particular those who got into Gryffindor, knowing that it was always good to show support, even if the students got into a different house to her own. She grinned as the Sorting Ceremony finished, which could only mean one thing. It was time to dig in to the delicious food the house elves had prepared. Glancing at the options in front of her, Skylar settled on some chicken and potatoes, which although it was common, it never got old. Taking a bite, she immediately remembered how great the food here at Hogwarts was, and some of the disappointment about how her holidays had gone left her. If anything, at least the food here would be as amazing as always, so surely the year couldn't be all too bad.
