Amy was a little nervous for practice, mostly because she was now partly in charge. She couldn't believe that Elliot had trusted her to be co-captain, but also couldn't believe it was his last year. Since she'd started, they'd been on the team together. It was going to be weird once he was gone. After reflecting on last year, Amy hoped that the team would perform well and they could have a good shot at doing well. There was still a definite chill in the air, but Amy knew she'd warm up once she got into the air. Eager to see how everyone was after the break, she looked over everything again and tried to keep moving while she waited for them all to arrive.

OOCOut of Character:
Just arrivals for now. Practice will start within 24 hours.

Hufflepuff,Practice

Elliot was determined to get himself out of his head this year. Playing Quidditch had become an escape from the mounting responsibilities in his life, and as they kept piling up, he needed it more than ever. Losing so badly last year hadn't felt good, but they had a new start now, and Elliot wanted to focus on enjoying his last year with his team if he could. Heading to the pitch, Elliot was glad to see Amy already out warming up. She'd been a good friend and so far an excellent captain, so at least Elliot didn't need to worry about leaving the team in capable hands.

"Hey guys," he said as the team started to assemble, taking his time settling back into the flow of things back on the pitch as he checked his broom, robes, and the quidditch balls were all in order. "We'll get started once everyone's ready."

Connor was overwhelmingly relieved to get back onto the Quidditch pitch. Hopefully he could work out some frustration, and it would be nice to do something social in a group of people, none of whom hated him. Bat in one hand and broom in the other, he greeted the captains with a grin as he joined them on the pitch. "Congratulations Amy!" He added to the new co-captain, pleased to see she had taken over Abian's spot.

René couldn't shake the feeling like he wasn't supposed to be here as he stepped out onto the Quidditch pitch. He was just an alternate, but Sully had been thrilled to hear he'd made the team, which had been enough encouragement to propel René into their first practice, though he was definitely slowing down as he crossed the large expanse from the locker room to where the team was on the field. The feeling of not knowing anyone was tenfold from what he'd felt in the dorms when it seemed like half his roommates were already friend, but at least René had played sported before and had something to go off of. Gripping his broom in front of him, René gave the other players a timid smile while he waited for someone to tell him what to do.

Lillith was excited. No, excited was a big understatement. The moment she found out that she'd got into the team as an official player, she'd squealed and celebrated so loudly she was sure her parents could hear her all the way in Waiheke. She'd spent the whole night thinking of the things she could do in-game, and in the morning she made sure to eat a lot of food. She had even forced herself to eat a single bit of carrot. It was disgusting, but she managed to swallow it.

With her brand new yellow-painted broom, Lillith walked to the pitch and quickly got changed into her quidditch robes. She greeted her older teammates and the newer ones with a very bright smile and a very very enthusiastic, "Hi guys!!!!!!!" Everything was in order and she was sure that this year Hufflepuff will make it to the finals.

Jordie came skipping onto the field, pleased that he had made it before Tilly. "Hi!!" He greeted, coming up next to the other girl chaser, Lillith maybe, and smiling brightly at her. "I'm soooo excited for this," He gushed, looking eagerly from one captain to the other. "Elliot, Cap, cap, I told my sister I got on the team and Sapphire said she remembers you and Lars as Lily's boys and she says that if anyone was going to beat Slytherin it would be you and Amy," he chattered, smiling brightly.

@Elliot Briar

Lucas was excited about the new Quidditch season and happily headed to the pitch for the new practice. Amy was their new captain along with Elliot, and Lucas shot her a smile. He waved at Lillith too, who seemed very happy to be here as well. He gad enjoyed baking with her earlier. He was eager for practice to start, and waited impatiently.

Amy grinned at Connor when he congratulated her."Thanks Connor!" she replied. Looking around at the team, she was pleased to see everyone had arrived."Hi everyone! Welcome to the first practice of the year! Elliot and I have decided to do something a little different this year with the Chasers during practice. I'm going to split you guys into teams, so you can practice passing and dodging opposing Chasers." She looked quickly over her notes to make sure she remembered the teams."Okay, we'll have Hunter and Rene in one team, and Jordan and Lillith in the other. I'm going to stick with Jordan and Lillith this time, but Hunter, Rene, if you guys need a hand, just call out." She stuck the paper back into her pocket, and hoped that it wouldn't fall out during practice."Since we've only got Linden as Keeper, just to make sure we're not hanging down one end of the pitch, before scoring, Chasers make sure you do a full lap of the pitch." She looked around at the others."Beaters, let's get some good hits in! And Seekers, good luck!" She released all of the balls and called out,"Let's go!"

Connor kicked off when they were told to, shooting into the air and chasing after one of the bludgers. This was what he needed to deal with his stress. Bat in hand he shot after the ball and swung hard, aiming for Elliot. With all the other players finding their places though, his shot flew past Elliot and straight into the other captain. "SORRY!" Connor called out to Amy.
@Amy Jewel

Amy flew off, holding the Quaffle and trying to pass it, when she got hit by a bludger. It was such a surprise that she dropped the Quaffle. She hoped one of the other chasers would catch it. She gave Connor a thumbs up, but when she said to get some good hits in, she didn't think it would be on her!

Elliot was pleased with he new players enthuasiam, grinning when Lillith and Jordan both bonded onto the pitch with excitement. "Uh, cool, yeah. I hope so too," he told Jordan, vaguely remembering Sapphire as an older Slytherin captain, though he wasn't sure how Jordan knew her. "We really wanna focus on teamwork this year," he tagged on after Amy, proud of how well she was handling directing the team. "Look out for each other up there."

With that, practice was in motion and Elliot kicked off. Connor wasn't wasting any time taking some hits and Elliot was barely able to duck out of the way when a bludger shot past, hitting Amy instead.

René listened intently as the captains doled out instructions, glancing at the other chasers and trying to memorize what Hunter looked like. He was still a bit wobbly as he got on his broom, unsurprised that Amy beat him easily to the quaffle, though maybe that was for the best when she got hit by one of the bludgers. He was glad Sully had warned him about them first, since René had zero interest in being blindsided by one.

Amy had dropped the quaffle though, and René tried to make a dive for it, noting that it seemed to fall slower than it really should. He wasn't confident flying downwards so fast though, not confident to commit to grabbing for the ball and pulling up before he could. Maybe Hunter would get it instead.

Elliot tried to take a moment to just enjoy being back in the air for awhile. He didn't get a lot of practice time between work over the holidays, and while his dad's place was pretty secluded, he was careful not to fly much just in case the muggle neighbors caught sight of them. He spent a few laps just getting back into the rhythm of flying before turning his eyes towards the snitch.

Connor returned Amy's thumbs up though he felt a little guilty about hitting her so soon after taking off. He flew wide, taking a moment to study the pitch and plan his next move.

The air was still pretty cold this early in the year and Elliot took a moment wipe at his eyes as he scanned the pitch.

René was feeling pretty embarrassed about his failed attempt to grab the quaffle, but as he looped back around it seemed he might still have a chance to grab it. Steeling himself, he flew in at a lower angle this time, more confident about taking his hands off his broom to grab it than he had been when it was flying towards the ground. He relaxed as he managed to tuck it under his arm, immediately grabbing his broom again with both hands as he turned to look where to go next.

Over the break, Lillith had perfected her going up-side-down technique over and over again. She could basically get upside down and right side up really quickly now. Lillith flew up as the practice started and monitored it first. Amy seemed fine so she continued on, She watched as Rene caught the quaffle and flew towards him. She looked for Jordie on the pitch but couldn't seem to find him yet. Her eyes on the quaffle, she flew directly above Rene and leaned towards her right, going upside down, her legs the only thing holding onto the broom. "Hi!" She giggled. Reaching her arm out, she karate chopped the quaffle out of Rene's hands and hoped one of her teammates would reach it before Hunter did.

The chasers were off to a lively start and Elliot grinned as he circled the pitch.
OOCOut of Character:
@Lillith Montgomery It's fine for practice purposes right now, but in an actual game, you need to wait at least 4 hours before you can officially post to steal the quaffle (Rule 2a) 👍

René was focusing on trying to get himself and the quaffle over closer to the hoops he didn't even notice Lillith, flinching when she appeared in front of his face. "Ah! Hi?!" The quaffle slipped from his hands, René suspected he might have dropped it even if she hadn't knocked it away, and he watched in dismay as it started dropping towards the ground yet again.

Hunter heard Amy's intructions and found it kinda excited to be competing during practice, "I think we won't need much help, me and Rene are pretty good" he said sticking his tongue out to tease the other seekers and hopefully spice up the competitiveness.
He flew up in the air and kind of decided to see what Rene could do, he was new so Hunter wanted to give him a chance to adapt to a game similar situation. Hunter let out a cheer when Rene grabbed the quaffle but then Lilith stole the quaffle from the younger boy. Hunter decided to speed up a bit more and get close to Lilith waiting for a slip up so he could steal the quaffle from her.

Elliot turned his attention away from the chasers when he saw movement out of the corner of his eye, surprised when he realized it was a bludger, not the snitch. It didn't seem to be aiming for him, but he moved to another section of the pitch anyway. Better to not tempt fate (or their beaters).

Embarrassed and still off kilter after Lillith's appearance, René couldn't bring himself to make another grab for the quaffle, focusing more on just staying steady on his broom. Hopefully, Hunter might be able to grab it before the other group of chasers.

Once right side up, Lillith looked towards the quaffle that started to fall towards the ground and then towards her teammates, she was still the closest to it and so she went diving down for it.

Righting himself after swerving from the bludger, Elliot resumed scanning the pitch, trying to stay aware of the game and the movement around him.

It looked like Lillith was going to grab the quaffle, and despite being close, René still wasn't sure he could make the dive. Instead, he tried to move closer to the hoops in some vague hope he could cut her off once she had it.
