Y38 Hufflepuff Practice

Flying up a bit higher, Elliot tried to switch his brain back over to seeker mode, focusing on just methodically checking the pitch. This year he was going to focus on just finding the snitch, not worrying about team standings or winning. Just seeking.

Lillith caught the quaffle mid-fall and tucked it under her arm, immediately changing course towards the hoops and looking for a teammate to pass to. She had to remind herself a few times that at the moment Rene and Hunter weren’t her teammates. She continued to fly, almost rounding up the lap.

René had just bought his broom around when Lillith shot past him with the quaffle. He groaned, turning around again to tail after her. He didn't think he had the guts to try and knock it from her hands like she had, but he could at least try his best to get in the way. He was good at that if his brother was to be believed.

Elliot was still hovering above the pitch, moving slowly but intently as he looked around. It was hard to try and tune out the movement of the chasers while still keeping and eye out for bludgers or the snitch, but Elliot was mostly used to it by now. His heart sped up some when he spotted something near the opposite side of the pitch from the hoops the rest of the team were playing at and he shot forward, hoping it had been the snitch.

Amy flew around behind the other chasers for a while, keeping an eye on everyone. When she saw Lillith had the Quaffle, she flew next to her, just in case they could pass.

Seeing Amy nearby, she passed the quaffle to her and continued to fly on not too far away.

Amy caught the Quaffle that Lillith passed to get and continued to fly around the pitch, keeping an eye out to see if Jordan was there for a pass.

Elliot had been right about the movement being the snitch, grinning as he shot forward, tailing it even as it dropped lower towards the ground. Seeming to have sensed his approach, the snitch hesitated for a fraction of a second, which was enough for Elliot to cut it off, scooping it up with his hand and gripping it tight. "Yes! Alright," he said with a grin, holding it up contently. He took a moment to enjoy the feeling as well as check on the team before releasing the snitch again so he or Lucas could make another catch.

Lillith passed to Amy, which made it a lot harder to interfere as she flew past. He stuck with them though, not wanting to give up yet.

Lillith continued to fly but noticed that Elliot had captured the snitch. She cheered a little before goinng back to supporting Amy. She tried her best to be defense.

Hunter approached Amy and stole the quaffle from her "I'll take that thank you" he said teasing the girl. The boy then remembered that he should fly around the pitch before scoring so he started his lap. He saw Rene free so he passed the quaffle to him to also give him a chance to play.

Rule 2a
OOC: I never used rule 2a, am I doing it right?

Tilly was determined to stay focused this year. She wanted to keep building her skills as a beater, but she needed to keep her head down. After the fight with Seraphina, she knew she was on thin ice with Elliot. She was as determined as ever to keep her spot on the team. It was nice to be up in the air again with her teammates and start with a fresh season. She lobbed a bludger at the chasers- but missed.

Watching the snitch zip away, Elliot took a lap of the field, smiling fondly as he watched the chasers trade possession of the quaffle back and forth. "Keep it up guys, good job on the passing," he called.

ooc: Used it perfectly, Ruben! Amy hasn't posted in 4+ hours and was fair game to use 2a to steal 👏

René tried not to yelp when Hunter passed the quaffle to him after he managed to get it from Amy, fumbling with it for a moment. They were close enough to the goals he felt silly not trying to score, blinking with surprise when he just managed to tip it through the far right hoop. He stared blankly for a moment before cheering. "Yes!! Did you see that!" he said, grinning as he turned towards Hunter.

Hunter cheered as he saw the quaffle pass through the hoop "Woooo go us!" he said maybe a but too enthusiastically. "Good job! Let's try and keep that up" he said to Rene.

Connor paid no attention to the chaos between the chasers as a bludger caught his eye. He shot towards it and swung his bat, grinning as he managed to hit his target this time, the ball heading on a perfect trajectory for Elliot. His grin dropped quickly though as he realised he probably shouldn't be quite so happy about hitting his captain. "SORRY!"
@Elliot Briar

Elliot was still watching the chasers, a sitting duck when he heard the bludger coming towards it, Knowing he was past the point of being able to move, he tried to turn, letting the bludger collide with his back. It still stung, knocking the air out of his lungs as it punted him forward, but it was a lot better than taking a hit to the arm or head in his opinion. "All good, Connor," he wheezed out after a moment, giving him a weak thumbs up as he caught his breath.

René was buzzing with pride, beaming when Hunter celebrated with him. Maybe his practice with Sully had paid off. He giddily hung on to his broom, waiting for Linden to throw the quaffle back into play.

Lucas felt a bit bad when Elliot caught the snitch before him, but went on trying to find it quickly. He winced when Elliot was hit by a bludger too, glad that happened to him yet this practice.

Connor felt even guiltier when he heard Elliot's wheezing voice, flying closer to the seeker to practice defending for a while rather than going on the offensive.

Elliot rolled his shoulders to try and shake out the lingering ache from the bludger, moving his broom to resume hunting the snitch again.

Connor stayed close to Elliot's side, batting away a stray bludger that got too close, though the ball flew harmlessly wide of any teammates.

Elliot smiled when Connor came to fly next to him, grateful for the added protection so he could focus more on the snitch. It was hard not to flinch when he knocked a bludger aside, but still far better than Elliot having to fend for himself.

Rule 2b*

René was still lingering by the hoops as the quaffle was thrown back in. Since he was closest, it wasn't too difficult to wrangle the quaffle back into his arms, doing his best to stay steady as he turned with it tucked under his arm. He was still riding his high after scoring, feeling more confident as he moved to try a lap of the pitch.

*not really necessary in practice esp. with one keeper but hey good house keeping.

Elliot had just turned to thank Connor for the defense when he spotted something dart past behind him. "Sorry, Connor," he said, eyes focused on tracking the snitch as he shot around the beater and after it. He followed it in a downwards corkscrew that reminded Elliot uncomfortably of one of his past games with Blake, but the thought quickly vanished as he was able to snake a hand out, snagging the snitch again. He pulled up with a dizzy grin, wobbling a bit as he held the snitch up in triumph before letting it go again.
