The anger and loss that had permeated Vivian during his talk with Tristan last week had quickly crystallised into ice in his veins, and nothing he did seemed to shake that sense of being frozen, almost locked out of the world entirely. He had cried, at first, wept and shook and sobbed for the love he no longer felt. For the years wasted, for the foolishness he felt for ever having listened to Tristan. Those tears had frozen solid though, coalesced into a hard shell icing Vivian out of the world around him. He had glided from class to common room to meal for what felt like an eternity, feeling entirely apart from everyone else. The anger and sorrow of falling out of love was too painful to live through, but frozen solid, Vivian could simply be, letting the world pass him by and not thinking of what needed to be changed. What he needed to change.
So it was a relatively normal and mellow Sunday morning breakfast Vivian was spending, eating across the table from Tristan as though nothing had changed. It had been days now of simply nodding in agreement when people spoke to him, letting conversations slide across his skin like silk but never fully enter his mind. The world was simply a thing happening around Vivian where he sat, frozen inside, preferring to cut himself off from everything rather than face the problems in his life.
