Though Analei had a lot on her plate, she was really looking forward to having a practice with the SDA students. Willow and Analei had discussed how they should do it, and figured out what they thought would work best, with quite a few students being in different years. The Hufflepuff Prefect got to the room early, and started setting up, clearing the space, starting to feel a bit anxious about the meeting. Willow and Analei had also discussed talking about some dueling etiquette, maybe something that the new starters wouldn't know. Otherwise, she was keen to just get people practicing their spells and quick reflexes.

OOCOut of Character:
Hey guys! This is the first time we're trying something like this, so we'll see how it goes. There won't be any 'dueling points' etc included during the practice, it'll be quite RP based; tagging your dueling partner and such. Just post entrances now, we will post a more thorough IC explanation soon ^_^

Willow made her way to the duelling chamber. it was time for the first meeting of the year and she and analei had decided to do some duelling practice as that was what most people had seemed interested in dueing the sign-ups. the problem was with such a range of students it would be hard to keep everyone involved. those in third year and above would likely just be able to pair off with minimal help other than people keeping an eye out to make sure no-one overstepped the boundaries and hurt another. but the younger students like lindon would need a lot more help. they had only really just started to learn their first spells.
once she reached the duelling chamber she saw that analei was already there. "Hey Analei. are you ready?" she asked looking around the room. she raised her wand and with a couple of waves later the stage that usually took up the centre of it was shrunk and against the wall and a wave later and the stands had compacted down against the opposite wall giving them as much floor space as they could get. as they would be needing it. the small chamber next door was also clear if they ended up needing it but she hoped that they wouldn't. "how do you want to do this? you take those with experience and make sure they don't hurt each other, and I will take the newbies and teach them rules and how to hurt each other?" she said the last part a bit of a joke. she would be teaching or at least instructing them on some very basic offensive spells. which could lead them to hurt each other. but she was hoping that they would also be able to cast a shield.

Lysander had never ever really dueled in his life, if you didn't include practicing new spells in Defence Against the Dark Arts. It hadn't occurred to him that he'd need to practice to have a chance in the tournament until word had gotten out that the SDA was having a meeting about exactly that. The boy held his wand firmly in his hand by the time he stepped into the chamber, in case he found himself needing to use it almost immediately, though it seemed that only the leaders were here so far. "Hello Willow!" Sander greeted his teammate with a grin, which he extended to the other club leader. She was one of his sister's prefects, but he didn't want to risk looking like an idiot by getting her name wrong.

Elio was looking forward to the duelling club having extra practise, something he definitely thought he would make the use of after his fight with Vegeta. The long scar on this forearm was always going to be a reminder that he wasn’t quite fast enough, or at least he hadn’t been. It was daunting to walk back down there, but knowing his friends would be there too helped. “Hey Analei, Willow,” he grinned at the fellow prefects, one of which was his own patrol partner and so he felt like he was getting to know the Hufflepuff a little better. “Hey, you’re the kid who homed a frog. How’s he doing?” He asked the younger Gryffindor, glad to see him with considerably less dirt on himself this time round. Elio had his wand in his pocket but didn’t worry about drawing it yet, since most people still had to arrive.

Linden made his way down to the dungens. it was not his favorite part of the castle but he had signed up to SDA mainly because willlow ran the club. but he understood that being able to defend yourself was imoirtant in life. but mainly he was here for willow. as he entered the chamber he saw that he was actually one of the earlier people to arrive. there was analei and Willow of course but there were also two boys one older and one who looked a similar age as him but who he hadnt seen in classes. "hey will Hello analei" he said remembering the girls name right this time. he then went to stand next to the boy his age. "Hey I'm Linden" he said introducing himself as the older boy asked the younger on about a frog he couldnt helb but be escited. maybe he had found another animal lover. you have a frog. cool" he said.

Aisa had joined the SDA club after some reluctance, but she had enjoyed the dueling tournament too much not to in the end. She wasn't the type to really enjoy being in clubs, but this one did seem to suit her. She hoped this practice would actually be useful, and not just some sort of teambuilding exercise. Aisa headed into the meeting a little doubtfully, looking around at the other members cautiously from her position near the door. Perhaps if this was nothing interesting, she could still slip out. She doubted the leaders knew who she was.

Tyler had been surprised to hear about this meeting, but glad about it too. He had enjoyed the duelling tournament a lot last year, and now there was a chance to duel a bit in the first semester too. Tyler was still very proud he had managed to win for his year group last year, and now he wanted to defend his title badly. He would be upset if he lost this year, even if it was to Blake who also participated. The other boy already outshone him in everything, and Tyler wanted to keept his one small victory for himself. He hoped that maybe he could get even better at duelling during this practice.

Eric wasn't really in the mood for this practice, but he knew he should show up if he wanted to be in the club. He just preferred to fight in tournaments, and not have too much to do with the other people in the club. There were plenty of them he didn't get along with, and it would be just his luck to be paired up with them. Eric sighed and headed into the room, staying quiet and out of the way for now while the leaders seemed to discuss what they were going to do.

Lysander turned away from the leaders when he realised Elio was talking to him. The older boy had, unknowingly, been a source of confidence for Lysander when he'd tried out for Quidditch in first-year, and yet it sounded like he didn't even know his name. "That's me." He told him. "Hopsprocket? He's doing great! Way better than living at the lake. All the other animals like him and he's happy." Elio had been critical of him taking the frog to the castle, even though he'd made a totally cool swamp for him to live in, so he wanted to try and show off how much he was right, and the older boy was wrong. He stopped when another boy overheard their conversation and commented, and he smiled. "I'm Lysander! And yeah, I do! And an owl. And a rat. And a puffskein, sort of." He shrugged, counting them off. He didn't know when they'd be starting to practice magic, and he was more than happy to talk to some new people while they waited. "What about you? Do you have any animals?"

Juniper walked into her first SDA meeting and felt ecstatic. This seemed like a club that would be a really good fit for her. Since coming to Hogwarts, she had felt much more confident in herself and rather than being reserved like her family dynamic required, she was able to to be true to herself. She found her dueling partner, the other second year Juniper who she knew of from classes and in passing, and made her way over to the girl. "Hey Juniper. I'm Juniper," she said, giving a laugh. She twirled her wand in her fingers and crossed her arms.

@Juniper Steele

Sydney had been looking forward to SDA actually doing something a bit more proactive outside the dueling competition now that it had new management. She still hadn't forgotten her unjust treatment at the last competition and was determined for things to turn out differently this year, especially if it meant another chance to put Eric in his place. Arriving at the meeting, she pulled a face when she spotted Holland amongst the other club members and kept her distance, listening as the new club leaders got them started. They seemed to take the whole thing very lightly, which was fine as long as Sydney could get in some good practice today. In her opinion, dueling wasn't about knowing the most or even the strongest spells, it was all about how you used them, and the best way to figure that out would be more practice.

Juno turned when she heard her name, looking over her shoulder and seeing a Ravenclaw stood behind her. The second year knew exactly who this girl was, and really she was everything Juno could have hoped to be, almost like her twin in the house that she deserved to be in too. "Hi." Her own introduction was a little flat, although it was hard to keep an energetic upbeat face when the blonde thought that she felt so out of place, all the time. Not even Apollo was able to bring her out of her shell at the moment, and while she wanted to keep up with her classes and extra curriculum activities, everything Juno did just make her feel more and more as though she was going down a path she wouldn't be able to recover from. "Come on then, lets gets this over with shall we," she nodded to her Juno twin, sliding her own wand from her pocket and moving into a clearer space where they would have more room.

Elio smiled as another boy, Linden, joined them too, although by the looks of it Lysander was very excited to tell as many people as he could about.. Hopsprocket. He wasn't sure what kind of name that was, but it was a creative one and he liked it. The prefect was chuckling as the second year was listing off his animals, wondering what sort of state his dorm looked if he had so many creatures running around in there. "What, you got like an entire zoo going on in your room?" he asked, half a mind to check out what the brunette was doing in there, partly for his own safety, as well as the safety of the animals and the other poor boys that had to share a room with them. "Maybe you could show them off to me some time," he mused, although then the attention was turned to him and Elio shook his head. "I don't have any. Never really been an animal sort of person. I take Care of Magical Creatures but that's about as far as it goes," he admitted. He didn't know why, but looking after a pet just hadn't really been something that ever crossed his mind as something he wanted to do.

Willow watched as people started to arrive. She smiled as lysander was the first to arrive and he greeted her. "Hey Lysander, hey Elio" she said as the young beater and the prefect that joined them. it wasnt long until her brother appeared. "Hey Lin" she said as her brother arrived. and seem to pick on the chat the other two about lysanders pet frog. "Someone has even more of a menagerie in their dorm than you do pip" she said ruffling her brother's hair. by this time more people had arrived and

"well I guess we had better start. Hello and welcome to the first duelling club meeting for the year. for those who dont know or have forgotten our names, I am willow and this is analei. and today we will be doing some duelling practice." she said looking at her brother and raising one eyebrow slightly as the mention of forgetting names as while he had got it right today he had for the other girls name wrong during sign ups.
anyone else who comes can join in. first and second years and those who haven't duelled before come with me. those who have done so in the past are with analei."[/b] she said moving towards the edge of the room. there were less people there than she had expected. but that would make things easier. she moved towards the edge of the room with the first and second years "Okay. so what do you guys know about duelling?" she asked wondering what they already knew so she wouldn't bore them with information they already knew.

Analei smiled at Willow as she got the meeting started. She nodded as Willow took the younger ones aside, before turning to the rest of the group. "Alright, so ideally try to partner up with someone in your year. If there isn't anyone, try to go as close as possible. And if you still don't have anyone, let me know." Analei said, hoping she didn't have to baby them. They were the experienced group after all. "This is a good opportunity for you to learn from your peers and practice the spells that you might not be that good at yet. I'll be around to answer any questions and making sure you don't kill each other." Analei said, giving them a small smile, encouraging them to get started.

OOCOut of Character:
First and Second Years can learn from Willow, and older students can partner up. Remember to tag the person you are practicing with so no one gets lost :)

As the group were divided up into whether or not they were new at duelling, Elio looked around to see if there was anyone close to him in age. He didn’t remember there being too many duels in his year in the tournaments, and neither of two others he’d seen then were here now. Making an estimated guess, he aimed in the direction of @Tyler Lee ”Hey,” he smiled at the boy, not really sure who he was but trying anyway, “I’m Elio, fifth year,” he introduced himself, hoping he wasn’t too off in his estimates. He knew he wasn’t in the same year, but it was as close as he was going to get. “Do you want to practise?” He asked the boy, just in case he already had his sights on someone else.

Tyler was surprised when an older boy approached him and asked him if he wanted to practice. He looked him up and down, trying to gauge if he would be a big challenge. "Well, you are a year older." He said after a moment. "Are you picking me just because you think it'll mean an easy win for you?" He asked him skeptically. He couldn't imagine why the guy wouldn't pick a friend instead.

Juniper slumped with her arms crossed as two older girls began talking to them about what they would do today. She looked over at @Juniper Steele and figured they should pay attention and follow what the Gryffindor girl was saying to them. Juniper walked closer to group of younger students as the older girl asked what they knew about dueling. She looked around and then raised her hand, not waiting for her name to be called. "We're supposed to used spells to defend ourselves and take down our opponent, right?" She knew that defensive magic wasn't supposed to be used traditionally, but in the case of the duelling club, she figured pain might also be a decent goal.

Sydney was ready to get some proper practice in, finally gratified when Analei let them pair up. She scanned her fellow third years for a partner, tightening her grip on her wand painfully when her eyes landed on Eric Holland. As good as it would be to wipe the floor with him now, she wanted their fateful rematch to be on the dueling stage. With more witnesses. Instead she turned to Aisa, pointing her wand at her. "You, Hunter, let's pair up," She said, adjusting her stance in hopes that Aisa got it wasn't really a request. She didn't really have any problems with the other girl, she seemed smart and kept to herself for the most part. Sydney hoped she might even offer a little challenge. @Aisa Hunter

OOC: I'm sorry she's so awful.
