Wand: Straight 9 1/2 Inch Flexible Elm Wand with Phoenix Tail Feather Core

Length: On the shorter side of things, this wand offers excellent control and aim - easily an extension of one's own arm.

Style: Straight and smooth: what else is there to say?
Wood: A complex wand capable of the most advanced magic, Elm does not often make a mistake or fuddle a spell - it is highly dependable to a well matched master.
Core: Phoenix tail feathers are not easy to come by. The animal is known for its versatility, making wands with this core useful for wand casters who seek to become good with different types of magic.

Flexibility: Flexible: Not easily broken, this wand performs under strenuous circumstances with little effort - though how well it performs is ultimately up to its wielder.
Hogwarts House:
Ravenclaw

Hair: Thick and curly, falling in tight brown ringlets down to her mid back.
Eyes: Dark brown, with long, thick lashes.
Build: Slender, and very short for her age. October will never reach five feet tall.
Complexion: Darker than the rest of the Alcott family due to her black birth mother, with freckles dotting her face.
Style: October doesn't have much interest in fashion, preferring to wear simple, plain shirts and skirts or jeans in soft pastels.
Distinguishing Features: October's very short height, perfect posture, and thick hair generally draw the most attention.
Playby: Ashley Moore

Personality: On the surface, October is a cheerful and friendly, if somewhat guarded, young girl. She is extremely intelligent and well accomplished, and works hard for all of it. Beneath the surface though, October is constantly stressed and under extreme pressure from her father to be the best at everything she attempts, always doubting herself, and with very little sense of self-worth outside her accomplishments. She bottles up and hides all her negative feelings, pretending they don't affect her, and tries publicly to focus on the positive, always wanting to seem bright and happy and successful.
Strengths:
-October is very smart, and finds it easy to see the most practical and efficient way of doing things. She looks at life in a logical and practical way, and as a result is always very organised when going about things.
-October isn't afraid of hard work, and knows that to achieve things you have to focus and do what needs to be done and then some. She doesn't shy away from a challenge, and all of her intelligence and talents are hard-earned.
Weaknesses:
-October doesn't know her own limits and is near-constantly studying and practising to a point of burning herself out. Her fear of failure drives her to over-work to her own emotional detriment.
-Outside of her accomplishments, October has very little sense of self-worth, and she only feels like a worthwhile person when she's pushing herself to her limits to be the best of everything.
Hobbies:
Music - Kyle passed his deep love for music and performance on to his daughter, teaching her to sing and play piano, violin, and guitar from a young age, and although October came to resent how strict he always was about practising, she finds it enjoyable to make music by herself, for nobody but herself.

Dance - October has been doing ballet since she was four years old, and finds it a favourite of her hobbies. It perfectly suits her dedication to technical accuracy, and though she had to stop lessons before she was old enough to perform or compete, she keeps up her practice in the hopes of returning to it someday.
Personality Type: ISTJ (The Logistician)
The Logistician personality type is thought to be the most abundant, making up around 13% of the population. Their defining characteristics of integrity, practical logic and tireless dedication to duty make Logisticians a vital core to many families, as well as organizations that uphold traditions, rules and standards, such as law offices, regulatory bodies and military. People with the Logistician personality type enjoy taking responsibility for their actions, and take pride in the work they do - when working towards a goal, Logisticians hold back none of their time and energy completing each relevant task with accuracy and patience.

Strengths: Honest and Direct, Strong-Willed and Dutiful, Very Responsible, Calm and Practical, Create and Enforce Order, Jack-Of-All-Trades
Weaknesses: Stubborn, Insensitive, Always by the Book, Judgemental, Often Unreasonably Blame Themselves

History: October was born in France to a surrogate mother, to two fathers, Kyle Alcott and Dorian Boulay. Kyle was overly devoted to the relationship with Dorian, having failed at his Broadway dreams due to his lycanthropy. Dorian had doubts though, and had only gone along with the pregnancy to make Kyle happy. With the stress of raising a child their relationship fell apart and Dorian left, leaving Kyle alone with a daughter. His family's relative wealth meant that he had people to fall back on, and with nothing else to do with himself, he devoted himself to taking care of October. She was raised in France until she was five, when Kyle moved to New Zealand, so October could attend the same schools he did. Even early in her life, Kyle took October to preschool classes, wanting her to have the best possible start in life so as to avoid the crushing of dreams he had experienced. Kyle found work in a restaurant to pay the bills and devoted himself totally to October, helping her study and taking her to after-school classes in music and dance, wanting her to share his passions. October grew up with her father's constant presence, reminding her that she had to work hard at everything and be the best, or her life could all fall apart and took that message to heart, throwing herself fully into everything she did and achieving top grades in both school and all her hobbies. Through October's ballet classes, Kyle met another single father, Matt Ward, and the two gradually began a budding romance, expanding their bubble for the first time, though the relationship is still in early enough stages that October doesn't consider Matt a stepfather or his daughter April a stepsister yet.
Health: October is in excellent health, and extremely fit for a child her age.

a4b71871b5ab74b713b6d5c50b0cf0759b88e0e2.png

Goals: To work until she is unquestionably the best at everything she attempts.
Fears: Failure.
Secrets: October desperately wishes she could hold herself to looser standards, and do things because she enjoys them, rather than feels like she has to.
Regrets: Not speaking up against the way her father pushes her at a young age, before it was ingrained in her.

Attending Hogwarts was simultaneously a dream and a nightmare for October, going to such a prestigious school to learn such exciting things was a big dream, but on top of her ordinary fear of failure was the fear and knowledge that everything she had studied for the last six years was going to slip away, especially her ballet training. She kept her head down for most of the year, studying hard and doing her best to find time to practice her dance and violin, the only true passions she had left in this strange, unfamiliar school. She found it hard to make friends and spent most of her time alone, other than school holidays, when she returned home and had to once again keep up the pretense to her father's partner and his daughter that there was no such thing as magic and she was away studying at an elite ballet academy, a ruse that terrified October, because she knew eventually the gap in her training was going to start to show without regular classes to keep her improving.
October clasped and wrung her hands nervously as the group of first years entered the great hall. Her father had told her stories of his years within these walls, and it was mind boggling to think that it was really her turn at last, a whole new set of challenges, so far from and different to everything she had known at home. She tried to control her breathing as she peeked out at the sea of faces seated at the house tables for the first time, having to stand on her toes to see past her classmates at their seniors. They all looked so neat and smart and mature in their uniforms and house colours, and she felt too small and uncertain and out of place. October barely had time to take in the number of students and the size of the hall and the grandeur of it all before her name was being called already.

"Alcott, October!"

Dad had reminded October to keep an ear out because of how early her name was in the alphabet, but the atmosphere of everything around her had been enough to knock every word of his advice out of October's mind. She tensed a little at hearing her name and her heart began to thud wildly, hands twisting and fidgeting anxiously against her chest as she approached the hat and took her seat, eyes closing tight. This was nothing like a ballet show or violin recital, hundreds of people were watching her be judged on the very essence of her being. It was terrifying, and October could do nothing but hunch over as small as she could get and wait for the hat's decision.
"Ravenclaw!"

October began her second year lonely, a loneliness that was only highlighted by discoveries made at the start of the year. Matt and April were also magical, and would both be making their way to Hogwarts. Now joined by her more sociable stepsister, October felt more isolated than ever, and bitter and angry about the family bonds they felt for her father, bonds she had been entirely left out of. Trying to get out there more, October joined Heta Omega, and actually managed to make some friends, in Jessica Matthews and Amber Wilson. Her concerns about the state of her family continued though, culminating in a nasty confrontation with Matt, who she felt was unworthy to know about her father's lycanthropy. The conversation going nowhere, October ended the year bitter and untrusting of her new step-family.

Having made a couple of friends in second year, October felt much more confident in herself going into third year. She felt less confident in her family though, clashing constantly with them, and avoiding her stepfather and stepsister whenever possible. Ever one to push herself further, October threw herself with all her energy into her classes, and on a whim tried out for the Quidditch team, and was taken on as an alternate. As excited as she was, October was terrified of the humiliation of trying to do something she wasn't very good at in front of large crowds of her classmates.

October had a blissfully quiet holiday period, relieved to return to school. She quickly reconnected with some friends, and threw herself back into her studies. Her distaste for Arithmancy was challenged when a girl from her year accidentally ruined all of October's Arithmancy notes, a subject she had no desire to spend time recreating notes for. A discussion with her new professor about replacing the notes changed her perspective on the subject however, to October's surprise. She struggled a little bit with her classes in the first semester, and became deeply depressed after a letter from her father berating her for her falling grades and pushed harder, working herself to constant exhaustion to get through her exams. October was relieved for the chance to blow off steam at the Yule Ball, attending as friends with Jessica, where they had a wonderful time, and she got the chance to one-up Tristan to her delight. The second semester began as a quieter one for October, her world suddenly shaken up however when she witnessed Professor Pendleton collapsing in the Entrance Hall. The anxiety this caused was only heightened by a difficult experience being put under the Imperius curse in Defense Against the Dark Arts class, and October expected to fall apart during exams again. To her own surprise though she held her own this time, and even had the energy during exams to reach a strange truce with her unwanted stepsister when April needed some advice, and to confront a troublesome girl treading in dangerous waters.

October's fifth year began with an outburst brewing for almost sixteen years. After years of constantly being pushed to be better and work harder, October stood up to her father and confronted him for his destructive double standard. It was painful to address such a difficult issue, but October's stepfather nad stepsister stood by her, and her father began making changes for the better. Bolstered by her newfound freedom and pride in her appointment as prefect, October decided to drop all the subjects she didn't enjoy, focusing on the ones that pushed her in ways she actually enjoyed herself, and taking the free time that gave her to work on her own hobbies. A new one of which, was Quidditch. She had been an alternate on the team for years, but the time had come to step up and take the seeker position, something that made her both anxious and excited, the challenge of trying something she didn't know if she was very good at in front of the entire school. With the free time from taking less classes, October focused more on her dancing and violin, and after a surprising proposition that touched her heart, entering her first relationship. She hadn't been sure if she was imagining the tension in her friendly rivalry with Tristan, and was flattered to discover the boy's interest in her, as they became a couple. To her surprise, in her first year on the Quidditch team full time, Ravenclaw managed to win the cup, and shortly afterwards, October won best solo act in the Heta Omega talent show, ending the year feeling more secure than ever in her own abilities and her own passions.

The holiday before October's sixth year brought an extremely special event. As the wounds of the past began to heal, October was proud and excited to be Maid of Honour at her father's wedding. Though she still carried some anger about her father's parenting decisions, things were beginning to improve, and she was especially happy to be welcoming Matt and April as family. With OWLs out of the way, October entered her sixth year looking forward to actual time to relax and focus on her non-academic interests. She enjoyed the free time, though the year quickly took a turn for the worse when she saw Tristan's true colours, ending their relationship. With that behind her, and painfully few friends to speak of, October had a quiet sixth year, spending most of her time in the arts studio, training and preparing for the dance career she hoped to pursue after school.

While October had hoped to keep her head down and focus on her studies in her final year at Hogwarts, it was unfortunately not to be. She was torn between honoured and overwhelmed when overnight she found herself in the new roles of Head Girl, Quidditch Co-Captain, and President of Heta Omega. October felt as though the entire school's eyes were on her, waiting for her to fail in her newly given roles, and she found it incredibly distracting. Though she started off the year hopeful, keeping her head held high and throwing herself into her duties, a final nail hit the coffin on her final year when to October's horror it was revealed to the entire school that Tristan had been cheating on her throughout their entire relationship. Humiliated beyond belief, October withdrew from her life completely, barely talking to anyone for the rest of the year, as things fell apart around her. Her grades suffered, Ravenclaw suffered possibly the most crushing defeat in Hogwarts Quidditch history, and October felt in over her head with her Head Girl and Heta Omega duties. The only small comfort in her year was an unexpected victory in the duelling tournament. It was only as the year was ending that October was able to look back and feel anything other than misery, regretting that she had hidden away the whole year rather than try to enjoy it.

October couldn't believe today had really come. It felt surreal, relieving and terrifying all at once. She was really about to leave Hogwarts, for good. To step out into the adult world and begin life on her own terms. She had been lining up auditions by letter over the last few weeks of the semester, and the thought of moving away from the magical world all together was strangely freeing. She could start completely fresh, away from everyone who had seen her humiliations this year. It was a sorely tempting prospect, and yet, as October looked over all her classmates quietly, she felt a deep, painful yearning to go back in time and do this all again. There was so much about her time at Hogwarts she would miss, and so many people she had never been brave enough to be friends with. As she approached the podium Professor Alicastell had vacated, October felt for the first time in months an aching regret, not for her failures, but for the chances she had never taken; the friends she had never made, the things she had been too scared to do. The speech in her hands somehow no longer felt good enough, although October had spent days trying to craft the most generically perfect graduation speech she could. Glancing down at the page and then looking out over her classmates faces again, October decided to discard the prepared and for once speak from the heart.

"Class of 2049, this is both the end and beginning of an era. We are saying goodbye for good to the home and people that shaped us for the last seven years of our lives. I know that there are a thousand stories each and every one of us could tell about our time at Hogwarts, moments that none of us will ever forget. Whether you studied hard or not, whether you joined clubs, made friends or were alone, followed the rules or broke them, whatever form your time at Hogwarts took, we are all the people we are today because of the experiences we had between these walls. Each and every one of us owes the adults we become to the people around us right now... the classmates who were by our sides, the professors who supported and guided us, the school staff who made any of that possible." At some point, October became conscious that her cheeks were damp, but she couldn't figure out when she had started to cry, simply letting the tears flow as she continued to speak. "We may never all be together in the same place at the same time again. Most of us will never walk these halls again, all of us are saying goodbye to this time in our lives for good. As we move forwards into adulthood I know that we'll all be grateful for everything Hogwarts gave to us, and I hope that we all strive to become people who would make the eleven year olds who first walked through those doors proud. Thank you very much." October stepped back from the podium and returned to her place, covering her mouth with a shaking hand as silent tears continued to flow down her face.
October couldn't quite gather her emotions as she sat back down after giving her speech, overwhelmed with feelings she hadn't really realised she had about Hogwarts until just now. She had thought she would be glad to be rid of this place for good, to step away from all the pressure and failure and embarrassment, but now all she could think about was the opportunities she had missed. That was, until Jerara started speaking.

October had imagined his speech would be about as long as his speech at the prefect meeting at the beginning of the year, but as he went on, October could feel her eyes widening, all her worries about her own life fading away. How could he just say things like that?! He was insulting the entire school, in front of the entire school! Not to mention the headmistress, all their teachers... it horrified October, the thought of being so outspoken, being so negative about a place that had given them so much... and yet at the same time, some of what he was saying rang true. It had been a nightmare trying to line up auditions for professional dancing jobs after school, because although she had done her best to practice and self-teach, the only real training she had in her future career was whatever tuition she could get in the holidays. There were so many things Hogwarts hadn't taught them, and October wondered how many of her classmates were feeling this way, as though their future goals had been damaged by the limited subject material available at Hogwarts. It had been a long time since she had thought about how much she missed her muggle school subjects, but the thought had plagued October for her first few years at Hogwarts, and it came back to her in a rush now. She missed Maths...

As Jerara's speech wound down though, October was struck once again with the horrifying reality that this was it. Whatever they had gotten out of Hogwarts, whatever the school had neglected to teach them, it was all over now. She barely listened to Professor Alicastell's speech, swallowing back a fresh wave of shock. It was really time to graduate, to say goodbye to Hogwarts forever. October felt numb all over, even as her time came to stand. She barely felt her legs moving as she made her way onto the stage and shook Professor Alicastell's hand, accepting her diploma with a shaking hand. "Thank you, Professor..." October could barely manage to make any sound at all, before she descended from the stage again, heart racing. She hadn't even thought to look for her family - they were probably applauding, but October couldn't percieve anything outside of her bubble of numb shock. This was really it. School was over, forever, and now she had to figure out how to move on, into her real life. Taking a seat, October stared down at the piece of paper in her lap, a representation of seven years of her life, over, forever. She somehow felt very old and incredibly young all at the same time.
