Pride has already well and truly been and gone down here, but since the rest of the world is celebrating now seemed like a good time to celebrate on HNZ too!

It's become a scarier and scarier world to be queer in the last few years, and support & community are more important than ever before. We need to celebrate one another, spread aroha & tautoko, and have each other's backs through it all.

So, let's celebrate! What's one exciting queer thing that happened to you this year? (No pressure to share if you aren't ready!)

Mine is finally starting testosterone. I've been trying to access gender-affirming healthcare for over a decade, but because of my other health problems I've been being bounced back and forth between specialists with no real answers. I FINALLY got the go-ahead though, and I'm just past 7 months on T! My voice is dropping, I'm getting buff as hell, and it's so exciting.

I'm proud to be bi, proud to be trans, and proud to be part of the queer community. Happy Pride!!!!!

Thank you for posting Rowan.
Pride here is in November. But it seems like the rest of the world celebrates it in June, so it's kind of an unofficial pride here.

I have only been an active/visable member of the Queer community for the last couple of years since i moved back to Perth from the country. I am proud to be part of the community. And proud of the community that i have found both here on-site and in Perth, and to be part of the wider community

My Basketball club continues to be one of my main passions and an amazing community with so many amazing and passionate people in it (we are a queer club). The most exciting queer thing that has happened to me this year was defiantly going to Sydney for world pride, getting to watch the parade and playing in the Pride in basketball tournament. my team lost every single game we should have won the non-gendered division, but there were issues with the scoring/clock, but it was so much fun.
I also attended my first two pride parades in Perth as a participant and Sydney as a spectator.

Happy Pride Month!! 🏳️‍🌈

Happy for you Rowan! Such a big step starting T!

Nothing exciting happened to me as far as my queerness this year but I'm recently single and trying to be happy again. It's an uphill battle but maybe when I can recover from my last relationship and everything else that was involved with it, I'll be able to meet someone in the community. Being bi that stuff doesn't really matter to me but might be nice to break my habit of subpar dudes haha
