Irene stood in her Ministry robes looking as poised as ever as she awaited the sixth years' arrival. Today, they'd finally get some practice in. She knew that some students had experience with side-along apparition, but doing it alone was a very different experience. They'd soon find that out for themselves. It was one thing to go along for the ride, and quite another thing to be the person who had to remember the 3 Ds and execute them perfectly.

"Let's go. You don't have all day and neither do I." Irene Finch urged the students forward impatiently as the first student walked tentatively through the open Great Hall doors. She took roll as they entered, shutting the doors from the distraction of younger students who wanted to see what was happening. "You don't need to be on top of each other. Space yourselves out!" she stated, exasperation in her tone. Irene gave her wand a small flourish and a large wooden hoop appeared in front of each student, falling into place before them.

Looking around at their faces, Irene stared at each student for the briefest of moments, making judgments about their ability to succeed at the task before them. She had been doing this long enough that she was rarely wrong. "Alright, let us begin. Today, you will make your first attempts at apparating" she declared, her hands on her hips as she walked around. "Before we begin, however, can someone remind us of the three Ds?" she pointed to a student and nodded her head as they responded.

"Excellent" she stated. "Now that you've all been reminded of the three Ds, it is time to put them into practice. For your safety, one of your school nurses is here" she nodded towards the corner where the nurse was stationed. "If you splinch yourself, please remain in your spot and the nurse or I will come to you. No sense bleeding all over the place" she stated with a small shake of her head, not even thinking about how startling that sentence might seem to a muggleborn. She didn't explain splinching either. Sooner rather than later, she was sure they'd learn if they didn't already know. "Begin. I will be walking around."

Points will be given to the student who answers the question. RP the lesson.
If you'd like your character to splinch themselves, please PM me first.
School nurse welcome!

Nicole had made sure to dress lighter today, forgoing her heavy robes all together and even considered skipping lunch as well. She'd talked herself out of it however after her stomach had growled on her way upstairs from her common room. The last thing she wanted was that happening in echo-y the Great Hall in front of everyone.

Ms Finch didn't waste any time greeting them and Nicole made a face over at her friends at the instructors rudeness. It made her feel a little better even as Ms Finch had them spread out and Nicole realized they were getting right into the scary stuff. Even one of the nurses was here and Nicole grimaced. With Ms Finch instruction to begin, Nicole looked glumly at the hoop. It wasn't far at all but the distance might as well have been a mile for how confident Nicole felt. She decided to screw her eyes shut, feeling stupid as she willed herself to appear in the hoop in front of her. She'd stood there for ages, opening her eyes occasionally at the various noises from her classmates. Finally, after maybe 20 minutes, Nicole felt the tugging sensation she'd heard people describe. Trying not to panic, she focused, feeling a sickly pulling sensation and opening her eyes as she stumbled forward. She wasn't in her hoop, but she'd moved about 2 metres to the right and was counting it as a win. "I did it!" She announced excitedly, before sheepishly moving back to her spot. She didn't manage anything else the rest of the lesson, but Nicole admittedly wasn't trying that hard, not wanting to push her luck.

Arthur felt confident walking into class that day. He stood with the others, watching for several minutes before deciding that he was ready to try himself. He looked to the hoop, shutting his eyes and willing himself to move. It took him several more minutes, but after about five minutes of trying he felt that tug, and when he opened his eyes he was in his hoop. He smiled, before bending over and promptly throwing up. Well, that was unsettling. Feeling sick, he took out his wand to clean himself and the mess he made before moving to lean against the wall for the rest of the lesson. When they were dismissed, he felt the overwhelming need to find Kiara. He needed to cuddle for a while.

Rose had to admit, she was nervous for class today. This was a really dangerous subject, albeit one she knew they all needed. She also knew Lily had splinched herself when she'd taken this class, and to this day Lily refused to apparate anywhere. Rose felt a little scared, honestly, and no matter what she tried, she couldn't bring herself to attempt to apparate that lesson. She stood stiffly in the back, watching the others and trying not to throw up. Especially when she saw Arthur throw up. That didn't help matters at all. She rushed from the room as they were dismissed, feeling ashamed of herself.

Ajaccio was feeling a momentary calm, he had a lot of work that he needed to be doing, lots of things that he had to be getting to, but there was a lull between the work he was doing and the work he needed to get to at least for Accio, so he was treating it as a little break. It didn’t mean he wasn’t busy, Ajax still very much was, but he wasn’t as busy and was making more time for him and for spending time with his friends or Nicole. It would be nice and he was looking to get all of his homework done, and make sure that he knew what exactly he had time for with the rest of it. The ravenclaw was getting ready for the day, gathering up the books and notes and putting everything together in his bag. He made sure he was only taking what he would need for the classes themselves since he wasn’t intending to do much revision elsewhere. The Ravenclaw was eventually able to just pack up his things and head out of the dorm room and to his first class of the day.

Ajaccio walked into the great hall with the rest of his year as they were allowed to. He was like the previous weeks quite keen to get to this knowing that they would finally now apparate. He listened as the woman got someone to repeat back what they’d learnt but Ajax was just standing in front of his hoop ready to get started. The moment they were able to he concentrated, focused his mind on where he wanted to go. He broke his concentration a few times but kept coming back to it . Eventually after a good period of concentrating he finally felt the odd tug that he’d always heard other people talking about. And with a crack he was in the centre. He was very pleased with himself. He didn’t have the time to do it again, but at the very least he hadn’t lost any limbs or a single hair on his head.

Thomas was delayed for the second apparition lesson, so he literally ran the remaining steps to the Great Hall to just get to the beginning and not miss anything. He entered the hall at the very moment when a ministry representative had just started a lesson with the words that they did not have all day and then they had to stand so as not to disturb each other. Thomas did the same in a way that didn't bother anyone or anyone. It remained to be seen what awaited them in the lesson. It started with a question about three D's, but he let someone else answer it because he hadn't really recovered from the big run yet, so he was slowly recovering. Their task today was three D's to be used in practice. At first he took a breath to calm himself from the race.

Until the breath was recovered, he realized how difficult it would be to concentrate in the lesson this time, but it had to be done so that in the end there would be satisfaction with a job well done. He took a place in the room and stood at the hoop. He tried to remember everything they did last time and also what was said a moment ago. Thomas focused on the hoop, then his mind flashed around the three D's where he wanted to get and had to focus very well on it. It took him a few minutes before he could feel anything, then it felt like a small jolt. He tried it several times, that by the end of the lesson everything was almost fine. The internship was not needed for a while, but it could be tried later. Until everything was over he went away from the Great Hall.

Chloë was quite excited for another round of apparition, especially since they would actually be practicing it today. She took her place next to her classmates when she reached the hall and listened to what the ministry official had to tell them, before moving away a little bit when they were told to give each other some space. She watched as a hoop appeared in front of her, raising her hand when the woman asked them about the 3D's. "Destination, determination and deliberation." She stated, taking a glance at the school nurse when Ms Finch mentioned she was here and grimacing at the reminder that splinching was a thing. When they were allowed to start practicing Chloë closed her eyes and focussed on the place she wanted to be. It took her a little while as she got distracted every now and then by either a sound or her own curiousity to see if any of her classmates had managed already. Eventually she felt a tugging feeling and tried her best to keep focussed on her destination. When she opened her eyes again she was standing with one foot in and one outside the hoop, which was close enough. She was in the hoop after all.

Emma was pretty excited about the next apparition lesson, as she finally wanted to actually try apparating. She listened impatiently as the teacher told them what to do and found a spot near Nicole. When Miss Finch yelled at them to space themselves out, Emma sighed and took a few steps to the side. She then listened as Chloë reminded them of the three Ds, glad she wasn't picked to answer as she had definitely forgotten the words. She waited for step-by-step instructions on what to do, but none came. They were simply told to begin, and Emma wondered what they had to do. She looked around and tried to focus on the three Ds. It took Emma a long time of focusing and trying until she finally managed to move. She pulled a face as Arthurian nearby threw up and scooted back a bit. She tried apparating a few more times until the lesson was over. Emma couldn't wait until the next one, it was so cool!

Iris headed to the Great Hall for the next apparition lesson. She was feeling kind of nervous, as she had no idea what to expect from this lesson. She had done as the instructor had instructed and hadn't brought anything with her, not even a hair tie. She saw Emma go stand with Nicole and felt a little sad, but made her way to where Rosalind stood. She gave her girlfriend a small smile, but then looked at the instructor. She moved aside a bit when they were told to spread out, though she was pretty sure she had enough room to move already. A hoop appeared in front of them all, and Iris listened closely to what the instructor said as she explained the lesson to them. She asked about the three Ds, and Chloë answered. Iris then got nervous as they had to try it for themselves. Iris attempted to apparate for the better part of the lesson before she finally managed it. She wanted to tell Rose the good news, but saw the girl wasn't looking good. She also left before Iris could talk to her, which made her feel concerned. Was Rose okay? She rushed after her, hoping to catch up and talk to her before their next lesson.

Poppy was a little flustered as the instructor hurried them inside the hall. She had been standing next to Iris and quickly spaced out as the instructor continued to give them directions. She had spent most of her morning nervous about this lesson and what exactly they would be covering. Would they actually be practicing apparition already? When a wooden hoop appeared in front of her she made a strangled noise of surprise and stepped back. She eyed it with a curious look and looked up sharply when Ms. Finch said they would be expected to apparate today. To say she was nervous would be an understatement. Poppy took the warning of splinching to heart and overheard plenty of horror stories from older students over the years. She had made it this far in school and could cast charms and other spells but there was still a part of her that wasn’t sure she could do real, big magic. And this felt like big magic. But she was determined and repeated the 3 D’s over and over until she finally built up the nerve and went for it. The sensation was bizarre and while she had aimed for the center of the hoop she had landed on the edge. Combined with her disorientation she quickly found herself losing her balance and fell hard on her butt. After a quick pat down to make sure all her limbs were still intact she let herself celebrate and found herself more excited than nervous for the next lesson.

Connor couldn't help the nerves that twisted his stomach as he entered the Great Hall, looking around as he stood with the rest of his classmates. He was excited to apparate, of course, but at the same time... he knew splinching was a possibility, and the more he tried not to think about it the more it dwelled on his mind. He listened quietly as the woman from the ministry gave their instructions for the day, listening carefully to everything she said. Doing well in this class really mattered, far more than any other. He moved away to a hoop when instructed, taking a deep breath to calm himself. He could do this. He took a moment to focus his thoughts before he went to work, trying to stay calm and focused and not think about the possibility of leaving an arm behind. For the longest time he just felt silly, staring aimlessly into a hoop with nothing to show for it. Just as he was beginning to get frustrated, Connor felt a sudden tug. Eyes wide, he focused on his destination as he followed it. Moments later he stood inside his hoop, wide-eyed as he patted himself down. He seemed largely intact, though as he looked over Connor realised that he had left half a shoelace behind. Oops. He tried to focus more as he practiced again, and by the time class was over he had managed to apparate a few times with success.

With the announcement they'd be practicing actual apparition today, Kas made sure to spread out a decent distance away from Connor. He needed to focus and he'd been having difficulty with that around Connor since Valentine's. No, today Kas was going to stare at the hoop in front of him and nothing else. And stare he did. It seemed like the others in their year were having some mixed success around him, but Kas mostly managed to give himself eye strain the way he was glowering at his hoop by the time the end of the lesson neared. He supposed not apparating might be slightly better over some of the other kids, who seemed to be running from the room or throwing up in the hall, which was wonderful, Kas thought, wrinkling his nose at the sight. Kas had never been super magically inclined, but he would have thought he'd managed to pull off at least a bit of apparition. Even half a metre and he'd have been satisfied, but no. The end of the lesson came and Kas just had to sigh and shuffle from the hall. He could only sourly hope he had better luck next time.

Freya was kind of hoping someone would get horribly injured, that way any mistakes she made would pale in comparison. Nervous barely covered what she was feeling as she saw the hoops and realised they'd be having to actually try apparition. She wanted to turn around and run right out of the room, but that would be far too embarrassing and someone might try to talk to her about it, which... no. Letting the three D's buzz around in her head like a swarm of angry bees, Freya concentrated on the task at hand. She felt stupid just standing there staring at a hoop, but soon enough she felt a tug along with a bright flash of panic. She landed in the hoop, a little wobbly on her feet, but completely unharmed. Freya scrunched up her face in discomfort as the world spun around her. That had sucked. She'd managed to apparate, but she wasn't happy about it.

The woman from the Ministry did not seem super pleased today. Lysander huffed inwardly. Why were so many Ministry people so bitter and boring? Did she have another magical school to go teach apparition to? He gave his name for roll call and stood by, shuffling slightly nearer to his friends instead of further away, until the thought of somehow splinching together[/]i crossed his mind. Was that a thing? Could two people just apparate into each other like...what was that movie he'd watched with Wendall? The Fly? He shook the idea away, taking a brief step back as a hoop appeared in front of him. Finch kept talking, though he was partially distracted by what she had to say, too busy seeing if he could hula the hoop around his waist instead. He didn't get many goes to spin it around before people were shuffling again, and he realised he'd totally not paid attention to what was said. He scrabbled around with the hoop and stepped back out of it. Three D's, right? That's all he had to think about.

It took time. A longer time than Lysander had expected. He wasn't trying to burn a hole into the hoop with his eyes like Kas was. Instead, he was trying not to think too much about any of the places outside of Hogwarts. He didn't know if they could leave the hall, or if the spell kept them inside. Could he end up at home? Or the wildlife sanctuary? The middle of Gambol and Japes? He had no idea, so he did his best to make sure he was picturing the hoop as he turned around on the spot, enough times to make himself dizzy. A sensation tugged at him, pulling from the inside. At first he thought he might be about to hurl from turning too often, until a pop of air rang in his ears and he found himself tripping over the edge of the hoop, from the inside. He blinked blearily at it from the floor, and eventually pumped a celebratory fist in the air. Yeah! He'd done it.
