This was an important milestone in the life of a wizard, and Irene Finch knew that many of the students looked at their license as a taste of the freedom they'd earn on their way to becoming fully trained wizards. With the registration list tucked in a folder that was under her arm, the woman stepped into the room, her heels announcing her presence. She called attendance, making sure that no one had snuck into the room without paying their galleons. Tucking the folder away, Irene began. "Good afternoon, sixth years. My name is Irene Finch and I'm Head of the Department of Magical Transportation. I'm here on behalf of the Ministry of Magic to prepare you for your apparition exam." She said all of this briskly. Irene was not a lady who liked her time wasted. In truth, she enjoyed teaching apparition to much of the dull paperwork she was often stuck doing as the head of a department. Walking around as she spoke, Irene's icy blue eyes looked at all of them and none of them at once. "The headmistress has been kind enough to lift the enchantment placed on this room so that you will be able to practice apparating within these walls for the duration of our lessons. But do not attempt to do so in your free time. It would be...unwise to attempt practicing here or elsewhere outside of these lessons" she stated in a very firm tone.

With so few students and the furniture against the walls as she'd requested, her voice carried easily around the large room. The woman focused on a student who'd been fidgeting, her blue eyes piercing into the student. "I will warn you from the start that your ability to apparate will have little to do with what house you are in or your blood status. Your ability to apparate will, solely, depend on your ability to focus on the three Ds: Destination.Determination. Deliberation." She enunciated each word. "There are no shortcuts. If you fail to grasp these concepts, you will fail your exam. First, you must choose your destination." She'd made a quick scan and found the perfect landing point. " Next, you will focus your determination and once you feel you are ready..." With a small step, Irene apparated next to one of the sixth years who had been whispering while she was lecturing and continued, "you must move with deliberation like so." She gave the student a sharp look.

Moving towards the front of the room, Irene continued lecturing the students. She knew that some were probably expecting to apparate today but she also knew that the foundation for apparating started with this very important information. Soon enough their time was up, and they had done nothing but listen. "Don't forget the 3 Ds. I will see you all next time. A word to the wise: Don't bring anything with you to the next lesson. The less you carry, the easier it will be." With that, she dismissed the students though she waited a few moments longer in the event that any of the students had questions.

Please RP the lesson. Remember that these lessons are so that your student can earn a license. Without it, they can't apparate!

This is just the first of only three lessons before the exam takes place.

With all the turmoil in his personal life, Connor was glad to have classes to distract himself. He was enjoying his little scheme with Kas, relishing the chance to trick Eric, having the upper hand over his older brother for once. Everything else, though, felt like a disaster. He had so few friends nowadays, and Connor was starting to realise that... Nicole aside, he didn't really have anyone to blame but himself. He knew he needed to make some changes in his life, and he was going to make those changes, but it was easier said to done. So classes, at least, were a welcome respite from the personal reflection.

Apparition was a class Connor had been looking forward to all year, and he was so excited for the lessons that he was almost able to ignore how many of his classmates who disliked him were also here. Almost. Keeping far away from Nicole and Emma, Connor joined the rest of the sixth years in the Great Hall, listening carefully as the woman from the Ministry introduced herself and explained how the subject was going to work. He was looking forward to learning how to apparate, though the way she described it was pretty intimidating. It was a much bigger deal than it seemed to be when you just watched someone do it. He made sure to commit the three D-s to memory, still chanting them in his head once class was over and he left the Great Hall with the rest of his classmates.

If he was being honest, Arthur had never really been one to take his classes seriously. He'd always held mediocre grades at best, but he didn't mind. His uncle would teach him anything he really needed to know. But now, this class was different. Apparition was something he knew he was going to need, and probably often. He stood near the front, perfectly serious. His arms folded over his chest, he listened intently to everything the woman said, repeating it quietly to himself a few times as they were dismissed. He had no doubts that he could do this. He was ready for the next class.

Rose was a little nervous about this class. She had never really done well with school. She worried she would mess this up, as well. Still, she stood in class, wanting to be close to Iris to help soothe her nerves, and listened to everything the woman had to tell them. She tried to memorize it, hurrying out once they were dismissed. This should be interesting, to say the least.

Ajaccio tended to find coming back to school difficult, when you spent so much time travelling around the mundane always seemed boring but he had so much to come back to that he was looking forward to seeing friends and his brother and more importantly his girlfriend. Of all the people he was keen to see again it was always her. He knew he’d eventually have to decide how he wanted to live his life, and he understood his father’s desire to travel but was beginning to also enjoy having one location to always come back to and people he could come back to. He was getting himself together, putting away the different thing he needed to be able to get things together for the day ahead, he had to spend time on Accio and making sure the supers were ready to go, and he had to figure out a few other things too, so he was hitting the ground running at full speed ahead. Eventually Ajaccio had everything that he would need for the day ahead and was just making sure he had all the books and notes he would need before heading out of the dorm and to class.

Ajaccio was so ready for apparition, he had travelled the world by all muggle means, and he knew that apparition would make things a lot simpler. He knew his dad didn’t use magic like that, but Ajax could, he felt confident that he could, so of course he needed to do well in apparition and pass the exam at the end. The ravenclaw followed the rest of the class into the great hall and looked to the woman he’d often seen at this time of year. He nodded along with what she said, the things they would need to know for this. It didn’t seem too complicated as she explained it but he knew there would be a difference between knowing what it took and actually being able to do anything. He was a little disappointed that they didn’t immediately get to go, that they didn’t get to try it but he understood why not. With that the lesson was brought to an end and they were dismissed.

Chloë had been looking forward to apparition for quite some time now. After having used various ways of both muggle and wizarding travel being able to do apparition sounded exciting to say the least. Now that the time had finally come she joined her classmates in the great hall and listened to the woman who had come to teach them speak. She tried her best to lock in everything she said, taking a mental note of the 3D's as she watched the woman disappear and appear somewhere in between the group of students. Surely, she should be able to get the hang of that. Once they were dismissed Chloë left the hall, already looking forward to actually getting to try her hand at it herself.

Nicole tried not to noticeably shake from nerves as she gathered with her classmates for their first apparition lesson. Arguably, it was super exciting, finally having the freedom to apparate, but Nicole was also keenly aware how easily you could mess up in front of your entire class and leave your bottom behind or something. It filled Nicole with dread and she stood closely to Jenna and Emma as the lady from the ministry addressed them all. She seemed a bit harsh and it didn't help Nicole's uneasiness at all, though she made sure to listen closely to what she was saying, repeating the 3 D's quietly along with the instructor. Thankfully, they weren't doing anything practical this lesson and Nicole made a mental note to dress light for their next one, trying not to let the thought fill her with too much dread as the filed out of the hall.

Thomas was never really excited about new lessons that sometimes seemed incomprehensible and where they could be applied, but this apparition lesson was necessary because it would definitely be useful in life. Therefore, after reading the list of hours, when there will be a lesson immediately planned to go to it to get a license. According to the list, he went to the Great Hall at a certain time so as not to miss the first lesson and did not intend to miss the others at all. He began to realize in his life that there were important things that would come in handy, and one of these was this lesson.

Therefore, entering the Great Hall. He joined the others, then waited for the lesson to begin and it all started. They were met and approached by a lady from the ministry who stood as Irene Finch and listened carefully to what she was saying, and so she taught them to focus on their goal to achieve their ultimate goal. He tried to keep all this in mind and there was no doubt that he would remember them all in the lesson of the next lesson, which he did not miss. When they were fired, Thomas went to the next lesson that was on the list.

Emma had wanted to learn how to apparate ever since she had first seen her parents do it when she was small. Both Fleur and Lars had been able to do it for ages, and now it was finally her turn. Lars had warned Emma and Iris about the strict lady from the ministry that came to Hogwarts to teach them, but Emma was sure her brother had been exaggerating. She was bouncing in excitement on her way to the Great Hall. The lady there did seem pretty strict, but she didn't scare Emma. She introduced herself as the Head of the Department of Magical Transportation, which sounded pretty boring. Emma hoped they would get to the actual apparating soon, but she soon realized this first lesson would be a lecture. The professor warned them that their ability to apparate had nothing to do with blood status and named three things they had to focus on. She explained the concepts, but Emma found it pretty confusing. She glanced around, hoping Nicole or Iris understood it a bit better so they could explain it to her after. She was a bit disappointed that they didn't get to try apparating, but at least it seemed like they would be doing that next week. As they had to make sure not to bring too much with them to the next lesson.

It had been a while since Iris had to learn something completely new at Hogwarts. She wondered what the apparition lessons would be like. Lars had told them a bit about it, and Iris wondered how different it would be to be taught by someone other than their usual teachers. The Ravenclaw made her way to the Great Hall with Rose, noting how the Gryffindor seemed a bit more on edge than usual. Before she could ask her about it, the Ministry lady started speaking. She introduced herself and explained what her position in the Ministry was. She went on to talk about apparating, making it sound very difficult and complex. Iris wished she was able to take notes, she hadn't brought parchment and quill with her. She tried her best to remember everything the teacher said, memorizing the names of the three D's as best she could. It was a relief that they wouldn't have to try actually apparating yet, though it appeared as if they would be doing that next week. When the lesson was over, Iris felt a bit more nervous than she had before. But at least it seemed like they were being taught by someone who really knew what they were talking about.

Poppy wasn’t sure if signing up for apparition lessons was the best idea she could have had. She was so busy this semester and adding yet another thing for her to learn felt a bit daunting. But if she didn’t do this now she wasn’t sure if she’d have a chance to learn again. She wasn’t sure what the future held for her but she wanted to be prepared for everything if she could help it. When the instructor began she did her best to pay attention even though she couldn’t help get a little distracted by the state the great hall was in, with the tables all pushed aside. When they went over the three Ds, Poppy got a little nervous. She wasn’t always the best at focusing but she would need to try her best. She let out a small gasp as the instructor apparated across the room and appeared next to one of her classmates. She was a tangled mess of nerves and excitement as they were dismissed for the day.

Besides CoMC, Kas generally approached his lessons with the level of apathy most people reserved for things like pairing their socks. Apparition though, he was actually tentatively looking forward to. He didn't care much for the ministry worker who'd come to teach them, but he couldn't deny the appeal of finally being able to freely travel wherever he wanted without his parents permission or knowledge. All that stood in Kas' way between him and his freedom was one ministry worker and apparently, three D's. Kas listened as attentively as he possibly could as the instructor went over the apparition basics, mulling it over in his head as the class was dismissed with promises of practical application next lesson.

With so many other magical forms of transportation available, Freya didn't really get why apparition was such a big deal. She also wasn't overly fond of the class being run by a Ministry employee, as government people and her didn't tend to mix well. Freya was relieved that they wouldn't be doing any actual apparition today, especially after seeing the demonstration. It looked even more dangerous than she had previously considered and she was perfectly happy not thinking about it until she absolutely had to.

Lysander didn't really view Apparition as a class - it seemed to be more like one, really long test they all had to do. He wasn't too worried. He'd gone to get his learners license over the holidays, just so he'd be able to drive around on his dads motorcycle outside of school, and that had been difficult to pass, but he figured that was because there were too many different moving parts to a vehicle, too many rules of the road. Confusing muggle stuff, really. Literal teleportation? Piece of cake. Lysander shuffled restlessly from foot to foot as the woman from the Ministry spoke to them all, going over the three Ds, and eliciting a small snort from Lysander. He had psyched himself up for some apparating, and was a little disappointed that they were going over the theoretical stuff. He was used to it by now, by he was still itching to get it done, so he could go wherever he wanted. No floo, no train, no broom. Just a small spin on the spot. He watched as the instructor demonstrated by apparating next to one of his classmates, making it look all so effortless. He took mental notes, and left once the lesson, if you could call it that, was over.
