Y48 End of Year Feast

Just as Felix went to lower his plate, he realised it had frozen in mid air. He let it go and it just.. hovered, protecting his face. He watched as the only thing now moving in their area was Vex, who was loading up more ammunition. Where was that going? Felix suddenly glanced at Esme and then her dad, and taking his wand out of his pocket, the second year fired a spell at the pie just as it was flying through the air toward his ex's dad. "Stupefy!" He may have broken up with Esme, but she still didn't need the embarrassment of watching Professor Cade being hit by the food too.

Matt inwardly groaned as the one Gryffindor girl went over to another boy and put food in his face. He wondered vaguely if he could get away with not punishing her because she technically hadn't thrown the food, but she knew that wouldn't fly. Before he could think on it more, Vex demanded his attention. It wasn't difficult to send a silent Banishing Charm at the pie, making it fly backwards in the direction it came from. But it did mean allt he food in the air fell straight down as Matt lost control of that spell. Then, for some Merlin forsaken reason, a second year shot a stunning spell. "No spells, or the same consequence. I can end the feast now if I need to." He said, his voice still booming angrily.

Gabrielle was tired, she always was at this time of the year. She was looking forward to a nice holiday, having also planned to take Miranda with her to Bermuda. Actually have a summer holiday, especially since they were getting along decently and she figured Miranda needed it while her father was settling in with his new partner. Gabrielle always encouraged running away. She figured she ought to do something about Vex, but Matt seemingly had it mostly under control, and she kind of did want to see the pie hit the other professors. But that wasn't the image she ought to put forward, so she stared at Vex with a raised eyebrow. "How nice of you to join us," she muttered, before she started a lengthy intonation under her breath that may or may not have been to curse the poltergeist. She really regretted not learning how to be an exorcist. She abruptly stopped, however, when Matt told the students not to cast spells. It wouldn't be that good of a look at the feast to work on different rules. "Shall I look for a specialist cleaner over the break?"

Teo was just really getting into it when out of nowhere all the food froze. He blinked, slowly turning to look at the Professors table. Well, boo. Someone should remind them how to have fun. He let out a dramatic sigh, moving to get off the table. He'd no sooner got his feet on the ground then a girl walked up and smashed potatoes into his face. He laughed aloud, wiping them off. "Awesome!" He complimented, deciding in that moment that he liked her. The headmasters voice boomed again, and Teo was chaotic but not that much of a rebel. He sighed, sitting down with a pout. @Calliope Cartwright

Conan peacefully ate his dinner at the Staff table. It would all die down eventually in his experience - cue the Headmaster yelling, there we go. They should see his house when a food fight breaks out. At least the castle had elves. This was a very good dinner. He can't wait to be home.

Mania heard the Headmasters loud voice echoing in the hall but that did absolutely nothing to stop her laughter as she watched Callie use her hands to put some mashed potatoes on the boys face that had ruined her hair. She knew she could count on her best friend, as she dodged something while simultaneously laughing she fell off her seat and her cup of water spilled all over her... Well at least for that one she only had herself to blame.

Susie really was minding her own business when the food fight started at the table behind her. She rolled her eyes and carried on eating. Unless it spread over here, she wasn't getting involved. She smirked as Gryffindor secured themselves negative house points for the following year. What geniuses they were. Oh well, it was more or less over now. Susie turned back to her dinner, unaware that another pie was sailing past her head en-route to the Gryffindor Head of House until it suddenly exploded in mid-air, raining bits of chicken and gravy all over her. She froze, watching a pea slide down her robes. No way. No way she just happened to be sitting right here. Carefully, as not to spread too much gravy around, she got up and approached her professors. "Help?" she said. This was absolutely disgusting.

Mallory was sipping her tea, watching the chaos and trying very hard to pretend she wasn't enjoying it. She hid her smile behind her teacup, but let herself be drawn into it when a student approached. She gave a gentle smile, sitting up. "Of course, Susie dear," She murmured, and with the right spells the girl was soon just as clean as she'd been before. "Better?" @Susie Lagowski

Felix had thought that using stupefy on the pie would cause it to freeze in mid air along with the rest of the room. However, as it exploded and fired chicken and gravy all over the table of students, the Gryffindor sheepishly stuck his wand back into his robes. He'd only meant to help, but now Susie had had a soggy walk across to the Professors table to ask for some real assistance. "Sorry," he mouthed to the other students who now had bits of flakey pastry in their hair, moving to sit on his hands so he wouldn't be tempted to do it again.

Callie didn't know what to expect when she pulled back her hand, but it certainly wasn't that. She burst out laughing with him, accidentally smearing potato in her own her hair. God, she was going to get into so much trouble for this. What had come over her? She wasn't sure - but she kind of liked it. She sat down quickly next to Teo. Maybe the headmaster would forget about her, what with everything else going on. She could hope.

@Theodore Shepherd

Susie nodded gratefully, though she wasn't all right. She felt a bit sick. She could just about deal with other people eating meat around her, but she hadn't been at all prepared to get sprayed in chicken chunks. "Thank you," she said, but she didn't go back to her table. Dinner was over for her. Without making any more of a fuss, she showed herself out.

@Professor Mallory Grayveson

The feast had erupted into absolute chaos but James sat back in his chair sipping at a cup of tea and watching. What was he going to do? Intervene? Heck no Vex was involved. Students would let off steam and would calm themselves down then they would be in trouble. It was just a shame the house cup had already been awarded as a lot of points could have been taken off people.

Veronica had no interest in getting involved in the food fight. At first. But when it escalated into a full hall event, not just the second year nerds in the far corner, Veronica wasn't going to sit back and watch. She grabbed the nearest plate of food she could that wasn't her own and stood up on the table. "GRYFFINDOR RULES,!" She yelled and threw it at whoever was closest on one of the other tables.

Bailey bowed her head in shame when she heard the voice of her sister screaming across the great hall and throwing food. Of course Veronica was getting involved, the headmaster had said his peace so she had hoped it would mean the end but apparently her younger sister had other ideas. Hopefully she wouldn't get in too much trouble, though as her head of house was their father it was likely she wouldn't. Bailey kept her head down and had so far kept herself mostly clean and focused on shielding the younger students around her, the ones who weren't also throwing food at least.

Anisha wasn't a big fan of food fights, even if she wasn't entirely opposed to a little chaos. She was relieved when the headmaster stepped in, and a bit (but only a bit) surprised to see their head of house did nothing, even though it was mostly at their table. Anisha had only gotten a bit of gravy on her robes, and she used a discreet spell to clean it up. She doubted that the headmaster would mind, even though he had said no spells. She was cleaning up more around her and helping a younger student get some stains out of their clothes, when she heard Veronica shouting nearby. "You're really just an idiot, aren't you?" Anisha couldn't help it, the question burst out of her. She couldn't believe she had cared what this girl had thought of her once.

Ten was glad the commotion was down the other end of the table. At least it was until suddenly Veronica stood on the table and decided to get involved. She overheard the Head Girl call her an idiot and Ten couldn't bring herself to disagree. She liked Veronica a lot, but to climb on the table as a prefect and continue the fight after the professors had already told her not to didn't sit right. Perhaps it was because her father was the Head of House, and she likely knew there would be no repercussions. If it had been anyone else she would have been punished more so than anyone else that had been involved. Ten was glaring at the brunette, stuck between her own feelings of general admiration and anger that she was abusing her position of power.

Gabrielle looked over at the other professors and rolled her eyes, looking back at Matt with a nod. She was thoroughly put off her meal and would probably go out and get something after this instead. She was quite appalled by the students behaviour, and equally appalled by the other professors pretending they suddenly couldn't see or hear anything. They weren't on holiday yet, either. "You're still in school, students, the rules do still apply until you've left castle property."

Peregrine had practically ducked for cover when the fight broke out, she had been hungry and now everyone around her was being difficult and annoying. She got enough of this with Percy, she didn't need it here. Just when it seemed to die down, one of the prefects got up and made more of a scene. Peregrine was appalled. Some of these prefects were terrible and she was in a foul mood as it was because her neatly arranged plate had been disturbed by spilt bits of other people's food. "Thank you all so much for ruining dinner," she said, eye twitching a little in anger. She was tired and wanted to go home. "It's not like any of us were really hungry or anything."

Killian had enjoyed the feast up until a certain house table had started up trouble. Not that he was surprised it was the Gryffindors, dating one had taught him a thing or two of the nature of those in that house. He agreed with the Headmaster and his fellow professor who were scolding the kids for their behaviour, throwing food around was a waste. Instead of scolding he took his wand out and got up, walking around casting cleaning charms where needed. He shook his head as he saw a first year who had spilled her water all over herself, that's what you got. As he returned to his seat he leaned back and sighed. "Some year this one's been. Ought to need a proper holiday after this one." He mumbled to the professor next to him, way to end his first year of teaching.

As Mania got up from the floor there was a lot of scolding going around and she felt particularly ashamed as one professor was walking around helping to clean and shook his head at her seeing her spilled water. Her laughter had finally died down and only a coy smile remained as she took seat again. "I didn't take Professor Cade for one to sit by, but I suppose the other professors are doing his job for him right now." She whispered sitting next to Felix because that was the cleanest spot. As much as it had been the first year began trying to clean her surroundings. It was the least she could do probably. "How much mash is there in my hair?" She asked the second year next to her.

@Felix Layton-King

Things seemed to be calming down, except for Veronica who seemed keen to start things up again. Turning away from the chaos of the Cade's, he watched as Nia picked herself up off the floor and scooting in next to him. "Yeah," It was strange Professor Cade didn't want to get involved considering it was their house that was making most of the mess, although he supposed it was still in their favour since if he had, he was at risk of getting into a detention too. "Er, there's quite a bit," he commented, looking at the flecks of white against her hair. "Turn around," he offered, beginning to pick it out of the strands.

"Vex, what the hell?" Miles huffed as the stupid poltergeist showered him with glitter and confetti, likely as revenge for Miles calling him annoying. Though, as he was busy trying to brush it out of his hair without getting it over his food, the food literally started flying. He didn't want to get involved, picking up a clean plate and using it as some kind of human shield to try and avoid getting any stray food on him. Thankfully, the Professors seemed to put a quick end to the food fight before it had even really begun, Miles huffing as he put his plate shield down again. "I think most of this was unharmed," he offered lightly as he overheard Peregrine complaining, pushing it a little down the table towards her, "If you want any."
@Peregrine Piper

Mania groaned as Felix said there was quite a lot of mash in her hair, awesome. She turned around and let the boy help taking out some of it. "Thank you... I guess I'll have to wash it again tonight though." Nia mumbled, trying to stay still as he worked on her hair. Hair wash was always a hassle but perhaps that'd be her punishment for taking part in the fight, first of many no doubt judging by the Headmasters tone of voice.

Admittedly, Veronica had let the moment overtake her a little bit and got carried away. She hadn’t really paid attention to Professor Alcott when called for no spells to be used, in her defence he hadn’t really ordered them to stop. Veronica had had a difficult year and some of that was still built up, she had just wanted to let off a little steam but perhaps she hadn’t gone the right way about it. That said, she stuck her tongue out at Anisha when she called her an idiot, “Chill head girl, not everything has to be so serious,”

In a situation like this, Matt had always hoped he could count on his staff to back him. He was grateful to Gabrielle for doing so and for Mallory and Killian to help the kids who needed it. He was disappointed to see James sit back and sip his tea like nothing happened. He suddenly wished Cyndi were here, he knew she wouldn't have ignored this chaos from her own house. He made a mental note to have a talk with the man, soon. Especially as his own daughter got up and tried to restart the fight again. Thankfully, none of the kids took the bait and it died down soon after. Matt made his voice a little less loud, though still loud enough to be heard clearly. "The feast will continue, for now. One more person throws something and it's over. Professors will walk around to help clean where needed." He nodded to Killian in thanks, who had already done the most of that. "Enjoy the feast. The students who continued after I told you to stop will receive an invitation to my office for the first week of the new year." He said, before finally sitting back down. He was still on high alert. If anything else happened, he was done.
