Y37 Gryffindor Practice S1

Emma started chasing the bludger Lysander hadn't been chasing, as it was frustrating to keep failing in front of the captain. She hoped he would pay less attention to her misses if they weren't happening right in front of him. She flew off, giving chase to the bludger.

Everyone was having issues, not just him, but it was infuriating all the same. He continued to circle around, but no sign of the snitch, no goals scores and even the beaters were missing the bludgers. All in all, this was not going very well for anyone involved.

Your action (hit) was successful!
...but the bludger went off course, and you hit another player, instead!

Emma finally caught up and hit the bludger, aiming for the direction she had just seen Sully in, knowing he was on team scarlet. But when she finally looked at where the bludger was going, she saw it was going straight for @Sierra Woodlock instead, the seeker on her own team. Emma winced as it connected.

Lysander raised his bat to cheer for Emma as he watched her strike a bludger, only for it to hit Sierra instead. Oof. "Good...um, good try! Try aim for someone on Gold." He told her as he flew up alongside her, trying to sound encouraging.

Chloë didn’t want to be too bothered by their unsuccessful attempts to score so far, clearly remembering it had taken them some time last year as well. She winced for a second when Sierra got hit by a bludger, before focussing her attention back on where it needed to be.

He was a bit surprised when Emma managed to hit Sierra with a bludger, who happened to be on her own team. The dangers of quidditch, he supposed. But there was still no sign of that snitch, turning his gaze away from the action just to ask Sierra, "You okay?"

Trying to keep the other chasers on their toes, Chloë swooped in and caught the quaffle before the others could. Once she had it she tucked it under her arm and turned around, trying to get some distance between them.

Lysander slowed down to take a breath. These bludgers were frustrating, and he wasn’t doing as well as he’d hoped for his first practice as captain. He decided to try switch it up, and waited for a bludger to pass him. He swung his bat toward it, intending to hit it toward one of the Scarlet chasers. It narrowly missed his target and slammed into @Chloe Thompson instead. Yikes. After just telling Emma to strike her own team, too. “My bad!” He shouted at her from afar.

Chloë was just taking a glance behind her to see where the other chasers were when she got the air knocked out of her lungs by a bludger. She winced in pain as she took a second to catch her breath, let the air flow back, before giving Lysander a dismissive little wave. “It’s fine.” She managed to get the words out in a squeaky voice, although she wasn’t even sure if he had heard as she pushed forward to continue her way towards the hoops.

Everything seemed to be going wrong for the team in this practice. "Well, this is going great," he couldn't help but offer with a hollow-sounding laugh, just really wishing the snitch would make an appearance so he could grab it.

Lysander watched Chloes lips move, but wasn’t close enough to hear. He waved back, seeing as she seemed to be alright, and continued on.

Chloë tried to ignore the stinging pain between her ribs as she sped up towards the hoops. She didn’t seen a solid opportunity to pass to Sully so when she got close enough she aimed up her shot and threw the quaffle. She watched as her shot was blocked, trying to not let it bother her.

Lysander tried not to let his frustration show, after another bludger failed to go where he’d intended. It wasn’t his practice today. Everyone seemed to be having an off day - except Nikko, who was apparently on fire. He was happy with the choice in alternate at least.

Emma glared at Lysander at his tip of trying to hit someone in gold. "I KNOW!" She snapped at him, flying off. It wasn't long until Lysander also hit someone on his own team, and she flew back to him just to rub it in. "Try to hit someone on team Scarlet!" She called to him as she flew by.

Sierra let out a cry - whether by surprise or pain, she wasn't sure. Probably both. Stupid bludgers. Why were they even part of this game? She put a hand tenderly on her back, only to wince when she touched it. Taking a deep breath, Sierra smiled at Flynn who came to check on her. "I'd like to say you get used to it, but you don't really!" She replied with a laugh.

Emma flew off after the bludger she had just seen hit Chloe, but she didn't manage to hit it just yet.

"I suppose it's just quidditch, yeah," was all he could really offer with a laugh. You were bound to get hit by a bludger eventually, but at least nothing had been broken and she could keep playing.

Christian had been surprised by both selections for co-captains and while he wouldn't enjoy taking orders from someone two years his junior, he was a team player. He waited with his teammates as both captains gave their opening remarks and Lysander divided the group into two teams and told him which hoop to guard. Christian nodded stiffly at the boy as he mounted his broom and flew up to the hoop to stand guard while practice began.

Sully and Chloe were not giving him any breaks, and he kept his eyes on them as they flew around. He managed to block another goal and started to think he might be getting the hang of this after all.

Sully whooped when Chloë managed to nab the quaffle again, trying to keep up with her to support her as she went to take another shot on goal. He came to a quick stop when she was hit by a bludger, giving an appreciative hiss but at least she seemed fine. Nikko blocked her goal attempt, but Sully didn't blame her after taking a hit. He hovered near the hoops, hoping to get another chance to intercept.

Christian sighed when Nikko managed to block the attempt from Chloe, that meant the quaffle would be making its way back towards his own hoops so he would have to be on alert.

Sully grinned when he saw his chance again, zipping in and scooping up the quaffle before any of team scarlet could get a chance. He swerved away from the goal, putting in some distance so he and Chloë could get a better angle to try and score again.

Not wanting to waste any time, Sully decided to keep the pressure on Nikko, doubling back again towards the goal before the keeper could hopefully react. He was too eager though, his shot dropping short as he tried to throw it before Nikko could get in position. Sully clicked his tongue in annoyance, drifting back to wait for the quaffle to be thrown back in.

Lysander paused to keep track of the chasers, wondering briefly if he should do something to give Nikko a break from the relentless attempted scoring. He shrugged, leaving it for now. It was good practice, he guessed.
