The Stands

Leah had been eagerly awaiting for the first game of the year and was even more excited to see her own house play, and hopefully win. She still didn't like to think about her disastrous tryout last year. Maybe disastrous was a bit of an exaggeration but in the end she much preferred to be a spectator of the sport then have to focus on actually playing the game. She had put on some red face paint and cheered loudly until she ran out of breath as the team took to the pitch. She was nearly bouncing in her seat as she waited for the game to start.

Anisha was eager to watch the game. She had painted red and gold on her cheeks and was wearing her Gryffindor scarf, ready to cheer on her house team. Unlike her sister, she had no real interest in joining the team. She might have if she had been in a different house, but Gryffindor's tryouts were infamous and Anisha hadn't wanted to bother. She did really hope Gryffindor would beat stupid Dorian's house, though. They had to, right? She dragged Raafe with her and grinned as she spotted Leah. "Hey!" She said as she took a seat next to her roommate. "You're excited." She added with a grin.

Emery wished he was anywhere but here, but he had to support Rāwhiti. though he wasn't ever going to tell him he had supported him, it wouldn't do to encourage him too much. Emery figured he would just sit here and read his book for a bit, at least keep an eye on his friend. He had no interest in the game beyond that, and only sat with the other Ravenclaws out of habit. He made himself comfortable in his seat and opened his book on his lap, starting to read. He figured there would be a whistle or something when the game started, though it was unlikely Rāwhiti would even get to play. With any luck, he wouldn't have to pay attention at all.

Celia generally tried to attend every Quidditch match, and now that she was captain, she knew she couldn't miss a single one. Each was a good chance to study the other teams and note their strategies. Watching tryouts or practices was all well and good, but they didn't compare to an actual game. Plus, there were few things Celia enjoyed more than judging other people, and Quidditch matches were the perfect opportunity for that.

She'd arrived early, wearing an outfit devoid of any red or blue. (She wanted to make it clear that she did not support either team.) After picking out a decent seat, Celia cracked open her notebook and started to make note of who was getting into position and who was on the bench. She thought putting Elara in over Rāwhiti was a mistake, but Isaiah was clearly blinded by love. This was probably going to be a long match, Celia decided. Neither seeker was very good, and Gryffindor's beaters would almost certainly put up a fight. As she waited for the match to begin, Celia caught sight of Louis waving at the crowd, and she rolled her eyes.

Although Hufflepuff weren't playing, Aine felt strangely at home going to Quidditch games. They weren't as fun as going to footy games back home, especially when they ended so quickly and there was a distinct lack of sausage sizzles and cake stalls (or overpriced pies and hot dogs, like when they'd gone up to the MCG) but it gave almost a sense of routine. She'd worn blue - she wasn't especially favouring one house over the other, but Monday was playing for Ravenclaw so she figured she should make a token gesture of support to her friend. She also had her notebook ready, even if she didn't write about Quidditch this semester she supposed it didn't hurt to be prepared anyway.

Rosie was not looking forward to the game but she absolutely was going to be there to support her two family members. She had dressed largely in gryffindor colours but had a ravenclaw hat. She just had more red things than blue. Rosie arrived at the stands and spotted Aine in amongst the crowd of people. With no one else to speak to and wanting eagerly to spend time with a friend. She walked over and sat down next to her. "Supporting Ravenclaw?" she asked though it was fairly obvious that she was, given all of the blue she had worn.

Valeria had quit the quidditch team, she had loved being a part of it, and had enjoyed having none of the pressure to do well in the games themselves, but she had wanted to focus far more upon her art. So it had only made sense that she hang up her ravenclaw beater hat and actually do focus on that. She did still support the team and so had come to quidditch game to do that. She sat amongst the crowd of mostly ravenclaw supporters and would cheer loudly for her team.

Seamus wouldn't miss his brother playing a game. He was on another team, but he was always going to support him. Seamus however wasn't really decked out as if he was supporting him, just wearing his normal clothes. He arrived at the stands and spotted Celia with a notebook. Her intensity with quidditch was a little different from previous captains, though he didn't hate it. Seamus thought about joining her, but wasn't sure if she'd be filled with much confidence in him if she did and he was loudly supporting his brother or wincing when his brother got hit with a bludger. So he went to find somewhere else he could sit and not worry about Celia judging him.

There was no way, even with not making the team, that Fraser wouldn't turn up to support it. Of course he would. He loved quidditch, and even if he couldn't yet play it, he would be there for the team. He was wearing all the gryffindor and red things he had and had put some red face paint on his face. Fraser was so ready for this. So ready to cheer as loudly as he could manage. He didn't spot any of his friends on the stands, but it didn't matter he would be a one man army for Gryffindor anyway.

Ruby Maeve was incredibly bitter that she wasn't allowed to join the team. She was probably better than anyone else there, and they wouldn't even know it because First Years 'weren't allowed'. It was a rubbish rule, in her opinion. She was incredibly tempted to not go to the first match, in an act of protest; but she also decided that if she wanted to be on the team, she had to see how good they were, and how bad the opposing Houses were. Besides - if it was going to be a really good match and she missed it, she'd kick herself forever.
Ruby made her way up to the stands, but she hadn't donned any face paint or House colors - if anyone asked, she was there strictly to check out the competition, and not because she enjoyed the game or was supporting anyone. Not at all. Spotting a familiar face, Ruby moved towards @Fraser Fergusson . "Hey Fraser! Decided to come huh?" She asked, as if she wasn't the only one umming and uhhing.

With one half of his face painted scarlet and the other half painted gold, Max eagerly sat down next to the other second-years who had come to watch the match against Ravenclaw. Despite how bitter and jealous Max had been when he learned that he hadn't been selected for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, there was simply no way that he was going to miss out on a Quidditch match. There was too much of a sports fan in him to simply refuse to watch any matches based on whether he got to play or not. ''Who wouldn't be excited for Quidditch?'' Max said, clearly excited about the match himself as he was frantically waving his scarf around in support when more and more players stepped onto the pitch.

Raafe had paid special attention to matching his and Anisha’s face paint before they hit the stands today, though his was the inverse of hers. It would be pretty fun to be pretty fun to cheer for Gryffindor without worrying about Indi being on the other team and Raafe settled himself contentedly next to Anisha as she sat them down next where Leah was already getting into things. Raafe didn’t think he could cheer that loud, but he did have his little pennant flag which he waved in greeting to her and Max when he joined them.

Good start,” he said as the game kicked off and Gryffindor took the quaffle and managed two immediate hits on the Ravenclaw seeker, ducking Max’s whirling scarf as he watched the game. Ravenclaw managed to steal the quaffle though and Raafe made sure to shake his pennant in an appropriately furious manner as they headed towards their keeper.

Salem was beyond psyched for today's game now that Elara was finally the starting seeker for Gryffindor. She'd tried to make a cool banner in her honour but she'd made the "GO" too big and could barely squeeze in "Elara" in bright red paint, but she wiggled it excitedly as the match started none the less. "Woo, hit 'em, Zay!" Salem said, leaping up excitedly at Isaiah managed two quick hits into Ravenclaw's seeker. The more bludgers he hit their way, the fewer coming towards Elara and the more time she'd have to catch the snitch for them.

Rene scanned the stands tentatively as he looked for a spot, wondering if Caleb was going to show up to support Louis or not. He had no idea if the two of them had sorted out whatever weirdness had happened at the start of the semester and he wasn't bold enough to ask, though if Caleb was here and was still mad at Louis, Rene figured he could always say here was here to scout out the other teams. No doubt that's what Celia was doing here, he realized, spotting her and nearly tripping down the steps in his haste to avoid eye contact. She did have a good spot though, and there was a free seat nearby...

Gathering his nerve, Rene shuffled awkwardly near Celia before finally sitting down with a respectable seat between them, hesitating for a moment before waving at her. "Not here to cheer on anyone then? I'm here for Louis, I guess," he said, pointing vaguely at the pitch and wondering if maybe he should just keep quiet. It was impressive to see Isaiah land so many hits that quickly and he was quickly drawn into the game. "Man, you can tell he's a seventh year, right?" He said, unable to help himself as he glanced at Celia again. @Celia Vuong

The stands were starting to fill, but thankfully the seats next to her remained empty. Celia didn't want to be caught in the middle of a pack of younger Gryffindors. No doubt she would go deaf by the end of the game if that happened. Sadly her luck didn't last as René joined her, though he at least had the good sense to leave a seat in between them. "No, I'm clearly here for Ravenclaw," she said dryly. It made sense that René would cheer on Louis though Celia suspected he was there for the same reasons as her. He was a captain, after all.

The game started, and Celia was unsurprised to see Isaiah immediately land two hits against Hamish. It wasn't like hitting the Ravenclaw seeker was much of a challenge, as she knew from experience. "I don't think it has anything to do with age," she said, shaking her head. Ares had once been a seventh year beater, and he'd been atrocious. "He's just a good beater." Not as good as her, obviously, but Celia knew it would be foolish to underestimate Isaiah — especially when her own team was so terrible at avoiding bludgers.

@Rene Tofilau

Anisha grinned at Max as he joined them too, holding up her hand for a high five. She then focused on the game, nodding in agreement with Raafe as one of the Gryffindor chasers grabbed the quaffle. But a while later, Ravenclaw stole the quaffle and Anisha groaned, putting her hand to her forehead. She outright started booing when the Ravenclaw chaser also managed to score.

@Leah Thorne @Raafe Khatri @Max Goose

Leah clasped her hands together as the game started and Isaiah started off with two hits against the Ravenclaw seeker, and she laughed in agreement with Max. "Exactly!" She was glad to have so many of her friends and housemates around. Not that she needed help maintaining her excitement but it was nice to share the experience with them and joined in with Anisha as they booed the Ravenclaw chaser. "I can't believe she missed that." Leah complained through gritted teeth but breathed a sigh of relief when Zephryn took possession of the quaffle. It was only one goal, hopefully they could make up for it. Especially if Elara caught the snitch soon. @Anisha Khatri @Raafe Khatri @Max Goose

Max laughed happily when the others seemed to be just as excited and high-fived Anisha when she held out her hand. Then he too focused on the match, watching closely as the quaffle was tossed into the air and caught by one of the Gryffindor chasers before the opposite team could get it. ''Nice!'' At least they were off to a good start. Especially when Isaiah managed to send two bludgers towards the Ravenclaw seeker in quick succession. Deep down Max was very glad that he wouldn't be experiencing that himself this year as getting hit by bludgers always looked to be rather painful. He then booed along with the others when the Ravenclaw chaser scored and bellowed, ''Come on Evie, you could have had that, you eat those throws for breakfast!'' while he waved his scarf around in a furious manner, more annoyed at the fact that Ravenclaw managed to score than Evie not being able to stop the attempt. While he still viewed Evie Fuentes as competition, he would always support a fellow keeper.

Aine looked sheepishly down at her blue sweater and jeans before looking back up at Rosie, feeling like she'd done something horribly offensive by not having some red to balance it out. Especially since Aurora was playing. "Blue's more my colour," she offered, as though that somehow made it better. "I figured I should be an unenthusiastic cheer squad now Monday's on the team. Aurora's pretty good," she added, almost hastily trying to make it seem she hadn't committed some grave offense. Which she probably hadn't, but sometimes it would just be like that. She watched as both teams traded blows and also goals. "Pretty close game so far."

@Rosie Archer

Elara had been feeling better since the last game and still working hard in practice, as she was worried that they would have to play against Slytherin after the current game, knowing how rough their beaters were. And while she knew it was just a game, they were aggressive, and she would much rather lose to the Hufflepuffs and maybe not be knocked out of the air. But today's game would determine all of that, and Elara wanted to focus on each seeker so she could have an advantage, hopefully, going forward. She was dressed in a red sweater to keep the chill of as she took a seat in the stands, hoping some of her other teammates or friends would show up soon.

Tempest wasn't into sports too much, but the whole castle seemed to be at the pitch today to watch Slytherin win. Tempest figure she'd better do the same. She didn't bring any extra things for school spirit, but she did wear a cute green ensemble so people knew she was for sure supporting Slytherin, as if she would support another house. The stands were loud, but she found a seat near the front and looked out over the pitch as the team entered, giving a loud cheer towards the her similarly dressed classmates.

Isaiah was still on a bit of a high after they had won their game, yet he couldn't help but to be curious as to who they would be playing the next one against. Part of him was hoping it'd be Hufflepuff but on the other hand playing Slytherin would make things extremely interesting. Either way, he was hoping this would be a fun game to watch. He had made sure not to dress in either of the houses colours by accident and had just put on a grey sweater before making his way over to the pitch. After climbing the stairs to the stands he looked around for anyone familiar, grinning when he spotted his girlfriend. "Scooping out the competition, aye?" He joked when he dropped down on the bench next to her, swinging his arm over El's shoulders. "Who do you reckon will win?" @Elara Chatelain

Senna was thrilled for this quidditch match, excited to see what would happen. From what she had heard it was bound to be a good one. When the time of the game came around she had quickly thrown on a jumper and raced to the pitch, wanting to make sure she got a good front row seat for the game. With what little breath she had left she climbed the stairs to the stand as quickly as she could and skipped over to the front row before dropping down and glancing at the teams gathering down below. Yeah, this would do.
