Nicolas entered the Great Hall in a rush, sorting wasn't expected to begin for at least another hour but this would be his first year officiating it and so he wanted to ensure everything was prepared for when the upcoming first years arrived.

He glanced about the hall for a moment before looking down toward the sorting hat which he held in one hand and the three-legged stool which he bore in the other. He sighed slightly, trying to tell himself that there was good reason he was doing this and not Alicia or Cecily but that was all he was able to do. Of course, he knew of no good reason why it couldn't be Cecily rather than he but he tried to convince himself of falsehoods nonetheless. Sometimes, he found, it was easier to convince yourself of obvious falsehoods than doing something you don't want to do for no reason other than having been asked to.

Nicolas came near to the raised platform at the front of the hall where a podium was prepared and the staff table behind it. He set the stool down to the left of the podium then placed the Sorting Hat atop it. Nicolas then approached the podium once more and withdrew a few rolls of parchment from his robe and reviewed them. He tried to ensure that he knew precisely what he would be doing throughout the ceremony and the like before he set the parchment down on the podium and took a seat at the staff table, waiting for the students to fill the hall followed by all the new unsorted first years.
-----------------------
The Hall was soon full of students and then the Great Hall's doorways started to creak open once more, now a swarm of young, new, faces were entering the room, many bearing a look of wonder and astonishment as they nearly stumbled into the hall. Once they had all been ushered in Nicolas stood up and approached the podium, raising his hand to hush the crowd. "Welcome to Hogwarts!" Nicolas began with a great smile as he gazed across the crowd of students, "And a special welcome to those of you whom are here tonight for the first time, it's wonderful to have you here and I'm quite sure that you'll enjoy your years here." Nicolas looked toward one especially terrified looking unsorted student and gave them a reassuring smile, "So, without any further ado, to the main event, the Sorting Ceremony." Nicolas offered with a smile as he stepped out from behind the podium and toward the three legged stool. The sorting hat said it's poem and then Nicolas unrolled a piece of parchment, beginning to call students to the stool one by one and placing the hat on their head. As each student was sorted they moved to their house table, welcomed by grand applause.

After the Sorting Hat says it's poem, this is what you do (unsorted students):
1. Role Play walking up to the stage and placing the hat on your head. Make sure you include your character's thoughts, fears, etc. You can also RP my character calling your name and placing the hat on your head

2. After you've posted, the Sorting Hat will edit in it's post with a short RP and telling you which house you've been sorted into. This means you DO NOT sort yourself. Somebody will edit your post with your character's house in it! [Note: The Sorting Hat cannot sort you unless you've filled out a Sorting Form (Link)]

3. I will then send you a message with your house passwords and your classroom passwords. Of course, YOUR classes won't start until January 12th 2009, so don't start posting now! :D You will also recieve your school supplies list, then you can finally start purchasing your school supplies!

For those of you trying to keep up with sorting, I have attached to this post an excel file that includes students, what house they were sorted into, and if any of them have already asked for their status to be changed (to inactive/be deleted etc.) :)

It comes but once, but once each year,
When, I, the sorting hat appear.
I appear to sort the latest batch,
To look within and find a match.
To seek the person who does reside,
Beneath the skin, deep down inside.

Rest assured, I do take care,
To avoid mistakes and always be fair,
Because I know my duty is very great,
The decisions I make affecting fate.
So do not approach with a sense of fear,
Embarrassed when seated upon your rear.
And when I’m placed upon your head,
Your thoughts should not be full of dread.
Approach with confidence, pure and true,
Give me the chance to honour you.

Those who step forth brave with pride,
Likely in Gryffindor they will reside.
Fire and Lion, scarlet and gold,
A house of friends, strong and bold.

Hard working kids who value fair play,
May find that Hufflepuff is where they stay.
The Earth and Badger, yellow and black.
Loyalty and tolerance, keep them on track.

Creativity and intelligence will help some soar,
Above the rest to Ravenclaw’s door.
Air and Eagle, bronze and blue.
The wisdom to make dreams come true.

And finally those, resourceful and cunning,
Ambitious and powerful are in the running.
They’ll join the house of silver and green,
Where water and serpents stage the scene.

Now, one last thing, please take heed,
Here is some advice that you may need.
This school has grown in a short time,
So have mistakes and heinous crime.
A challenge to all present, to look within,
No matter the house I've placed you in.
To do your best and persevere,
To use your strengths and face your fear.

The time has come, no more delay,
I call you forth, come on, let’s play.

"Hamilton, Ezekiel!"

Zeke heard his name being said. Zeke smiled and went up the stage confidently. He didn't mind getting into any house. He flashed a smile to everyone in the Great Hall, not giving a damn about which house he was going to get sorted in. Zeke smiled at the girls in the hall, swaying his jet black hair. He nodded at Bianca, his maternal cousin. Zeke closed his eyes to think. Which house would he get into? He liked all the housed except maybe Hufflepuff, the badger made it even worst. Zeke opened his eyes bravely, praying the hat would put him into the house most suited for him, Ezekiel Caleb Hamilton.

"Hmm, I see strong will in you. Yes, a strong will indeed. You'll do what it takes to win, whatever the cost. You belong most in SLYTHERIN!"

Blair watched as her cousin Zeke went up the stool. It made her laugh like mad when he flashed his oh,so white teeth. Zeke was really a don juan, at least what Blair thought. Blair waved at Zeke and turned around, hope to get a glimpse of her older sister. Bianca was in Hufflepuff, and Blair thought probably going to end up there too. But Owen told her it didn't run in families. But there wasn't what Zeke told her. Blair sighed. She was so confused.

"Petrescu, Blair!!"

Blair's heart started to beat real fast. It was her turn. Finally. Blair got up the stool nervously, controlling her breathing as best as she could. She slowly put the hat on and relaxed herself. She thought of the good times she had with Adrian, Jason, Zeke, Bianca...

"You're very intelligent, yes. You'd do well in Slytherin. But your bravery tells me something different, your bravery and courage tell me you fit best in GRYFFINDOR!"

Toni knew that this was it. This was the day she had been waiting for, not too patiently either. This was the day of the sorting ceremony. At first she wondered if she would be nervous, excited, scared, upset, happy, or whatever else feeling that has been said to be experienced before the ceremony that would quite frankly choose the rest of your life at hogwarts New Zealand. Ok sure some people say that houses aren't such a big deal but for Toni, for Toni they were everything.

Toni stood and waited for it. Was she nervous? Not really. Actually she was not nervous at all. She had really no say in the matter and rarely did Toni ever get nervous. She had her confident face on as did her outfit scream confidence. She was wearing her knee high socks with the stripes on them. Then she wore her black shirt and white skirt. Her hair was down as always as she smiled brightly at Sam who she noticed wasn't too far from her.

This day was here. Toni wondered which house her two best friends would be in, Sam and Knight. Though she also wondered what house she was going to be in Slytherin Toni thought There is no other option Toni thought again as the doors opened and then walked inside of the Great Hall which in Toni's opinion was nice but by no means great Name change needed She thought as a smirk made an appearance on her face.

As the names were called she waited but not too long. Addison did start will A after all. Before long the man callled out her name and Toni walked up with her head held high. She walked over to the three legged stool doing a small hair flip as she sat down making sure her skirt was nicely laid. If she was going to be in front of the whole school she was going to look not just nice but beyond beautiful.

As the hat was placed on her head, she waited. Her feelings were rather content at the moment, not nervous, not scared, just there. She really believed that there was no other house than Slytherin for her. Gryffindor was just a fall back for all those Slytherin Posers and Toni was no Slytherin poses I am the real deal Toni thought as she tapped her feet slightly and slowly on the ground. Hufflepuff would mean she would drop out of school. She would be so ashamed to get in such a house she wouldn't even be able to go home and show herself. Ravenclaw was for the nerds and as everyone who was staring at Toni could tell she was no nerd Slytherin Slytherin Slytherin She thought as the hat made up it's mind and called out the house that Toni was going to be in.

"Gryffindor would actually suite you well. Perhaps you are a 'Slytherin poser' as you put it. But no, perhaps you will succeed in Slytherin. Your thirst to win definitely places you in the noble house of SLYTHERIN!"

"Anne Summer"

Annesummer hears her name being called she nervous. She hopes she would be in Gryffindor she looks around everyone eyes are on her but she only imagin she alone with the sorting hat so she pushes her fear to the back of her mind and pull up front her brave and remembered what her father told her "no matter what happens your going to be you forever no matter what people say" she sits down and waits for the sorting hat to tell her what she in. a song pops into her head and she just listen to it play in her head and thought about joining choir.

"Yes, Gryffindor might suit you well, but I can see you having much greater successes in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Jenna stood with Sam nervously, her fingers shaking from fright for herself and for him. Jenna was trying to cower away when her name was called. Jenna felt a nott in the pit of her stomach then turned to Sam and said, "I'll see you on the other side."

Jenna's name was called again because she had been standing there for a minute, and they had a lot of students to get through. "Jennifer Wilkonson." Jenna quickly pushed through the crowds of students to walk up the wooden steps. As Jenna walked onto the 'stage' she became calm, she had now forgotten about the hundreds of students looking at her, wanting to see if they had recruited another.

When Jenna sat on the stool she quickly glanced at Sam then the hat was placed on her head and she could feel it go through her mind so she thought to it, Anything but Slytherin! Jenna desperately wanted to be in the same house as Sam but she didn't want to be in the same with Toni no matter what, and it was clear what house she would be in, she screamed Slytherin. Jenna didn't know what house she wanted, as long as it wasn't Slytherin.

Jenna patiently waited for the Hat's decision and when it was made the hat said....

"You might do well in Slytherin, though. Or Gryffindor for that matter... or Hufflepuff. I can only not see you in Ravenclaw. Hmm, you're a tough one. I think you might fit in best in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Jenna beamed brightly and walked off the stage to sit with her new pears and watched as the next student was sorted.

Amarante and her sister walked into the castle, Amarante looked less then impressed while Tasanee looked like she was going to blow a gasket. Amarante smirked at her dumb sister, She'll be in Hufflepuff, such a shame. Amarante and Tasanee got a few looks from other unsorted students, sure twins were quite popular this year, it was odd but Taiwanese students didn't look very common, not that it was common at Beauxbatons but she liked that school.

Amarante growled at them and they turned back around to face a Professor that was speaking. When he had finished his little shpiel she counted off the students that had been called and sorted, Amarante let her eyes roll at each Hufflepuff that was called the muttered to Tasanee, "That'll be you Nee." Amarante turned her head not looking to see her sisters reaction when her own name was called.

"Ming, Amarante" Said the Professor but he looked as if he was having trouble pronouncing her name and when she walked onto the stage she muttered to him, "Am-a-ran-tea, it's not so hard." Amarante smirked slightly then took a seat on the wooden stool, slouching with the common non chalance of a Slytherin, the house she knew she would be in, the house everyone that knew or had heard of her knew she would be in.

You better put me in Slytherin you dumb hat, Amarante thought to it when it was placed on her head, she wasn't nervous at all because she didn't see the point of being sorted, when she attened Beauxbatons the house system wasn't needed and the school worked just fine.

"Stupid hat, am I? Well this 'Stupid hat' holds the key to your next seven years here, so I would be quite silent if I were you, girl, or you might find yourself in Hufflepuff."

"No, Hufflepuff won't suit you. You do belong in Slytherin, not because of that mouth of yours, though, but because of your general attitude to help yourself first, no matter the cost. Yes... SLYTHERIN!"

Scorpius walked into the Great Hall with his hands in his pockets. For some reason he was nervous for the first time. Not even at the Borely Mansion was he this nervous. She sighed and stood next to Prince absentmindedly searching for that blue hair of Hoshi's. The man in front of them then started speaking so Scorpius lazily turned his attention to him and a knot tightened in his stomach even more as the thought of finally being sorted was here.

He remembered his first day when he had first arrived on the Platform and who he had met. He didn't even talk to the people he met in the beginning anymore, not Nate, nor Llheione, Eeyan, and a few others. The only person he met that day and still talked to was Toni. He smiled a little as her name was called up and she got sorted. He turned to Prince, his other best mate, and part of him hoped the three of them would all end up in the same house but he knew how Prince felt about Slytherin and the pressure to be in that house. Scorpius didn't want to add on to Prince's pressure to be in Slytherin, when Scorpius didn't even know where he'd end up either. Which ever house they ended up in, separate or not, would be fine with him because he knew they'd still be friends. Speaking of fun, he looked around in the mass of students, trying to spot the blue haired devil, wondering where Hoshi was and when she'd be sorted and where. Scorpius shook his head and chuckled to himself as he thought of her.

Suddenly he heard his named called out, "Knight, Scorpius!" He looked up stunned as the knot in his stomach tightened once more, after it had loosened up by thinking of his friends. He gave Prince a look that said "Here goes nothing" and walked up to the stool, hands still in his pockets. He held his head up high and tried to make it seem like he didn't care where he ended up. He took his hands out of his pockets finally and put the hat on his head. He gave one small smile at his friends before the hat covered up his vision and all he saw was the black inside. He held his breath as many different thoughts ran through his head, fully conscious that the hat could now see them too. Please put me in the right house, he thought, thinking of Slytherin. He had never really voiced his opinions much on which house he preferred, but this one had sparked his interest the most and he was curious as to what went on in that particular house.

"Yes, you might do well in Slytherin, but I can see you having far more success in Hogwarts elsewhere. You're quite wise beyond your years... you belong most to RAVENCLAW!"

As Derrik walked through the doors of the Great Hall, he was amazed. The school gave the feeling of a medieval era yet it was welcoming. The other students that were accepted where talking amongst themselves. The one thing that caught Derrik's attention was the ceiling of the Great Hall. There wasn't really a ceiling at all. It seemed to have some sort of magic so the ceiling took on the form of any type of outside environment. At the moment, a black sky with flame lit candles hung in the air.

Before it was too late or before he would be laughed at just for standing in the middle of everyone's way, he quickly looked for a space that didn't have many students. After a Professor finsihed talking the sorting had begun.

Derrik watched as the other students get called up to the sorting hat. Soon he knew that he would be called. A slight nervousness began to overcome Derrik. He didn't really know what he was feeling. Fear, happiness, curiosity. Everything was going through his mind.

Finally Derrik's name was called

"Agile, Derrik!" A wave of fear, excitment, and nervousness overcame him. Derrik got up from the tables and began walking towards the sorting hat and the stool.

On his way there his thoughts were racing. His first thought was, "I hope I don't make a fool of myself." and then his other thoughts came into play, "I Hope I get put into Gryffindor. Wait, what if I get placed into a different house? What if the sorting hat said that I wouldn't be suited for any house."

Finally he made it to the sorting hat. Derrik sat on the stool and the hat was placed on him. And the hat began to speak,
"Hmm... You have some traits of a Gryffindor, but not nearly enough. No, you're such a kind and caring young man I think you belong most in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Then the hat finally gave its decision.

Once Derrik heard the sorting hats' decision, he felt releaved but upset. He really wanted to be in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw but what the hat said was final. Of course he didn't the house he wanted but he quickly saw that maybe it was fate that he was to belong in Hufflepuff. Derrik ran off to grab a seat and watched the rest of the students be called.

Hoshi Koshiba felt a bit sick to her stomach. She had never been so ranked with nerves in her life. She tryed to make herself feel better by waring her altered uniform to the sorting. The robe had no sleeves and she had ripped it in sevral places, the tie was dangling from her neck instead of the coller of the shirt. She had made the skirt a bit shorter and put a chain belt though the belt loops. She wore boots up to her knees instead of the marie jaines and knee socks. She looked around at the people she knew and some that she didn't know. She spoted Sam and Knight standing in the crowd so flicking a bit of her messy blue hair out of her face she made her way towords them. She hoped that Toni would stay where ever she was.

Hoshi watched as the list was called and the students went up to be sorted. She would be after Knight because of thier last names and Sam would be after them. Thinking like this made Hoshi feel a little better. Going over the list in her mind of people she knew and trying to figure out who would go after who. This consumed her so much that she almost didn't notice when "Koshiba, Hoshi!" Was called. Hoshi gulped and smiled weakly at Sam. Come on Hoshi pull youself together here. She thought to herself. She took a deep breath then took the walk up to the sorting hat like she would have taken a walk down a cat walk. Hoshi was making it a point to show the confedence she wasn't feeling a the moment whatever happened she wanted to be in the same house as Sam and Knight then they would really be the team they had said on the train. Hoshi sat on the stool and put the hat on her blue head. Her insides turned again as she waited for the hat to say where she belonged.

"I've never seen such an unclear and contradicting person. I could see you in both Hufflepuff and Slytherin. How very bizarre. It seems, however that you desire to be placed in SLYTHERIN!"

Olivia bit her lip as the first young boy was called to sit on the stool and try on the sorting hat. A hat will decide my fate? Being a muggleborn witch, she found it hard to contemplate the fact that a hat of all things would choose her friends, workmates for the next seven years. She looked around and saw a few people she recognised, but stayed put. It wasn't like Livi to do this, but she was so nervous.

She had borrowed an old book from Linda about the houses. Hogwarts: A History It was about the Hogwarts which apparently existed in Scotland - where she would have attended if they hadn't moved - however the basis was much the same. From reading through it, Livi had decided that she thought the best house for her would be either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. A girl just before her was called to try on the magical hat. Olivia began to fiddle with the sleeve of her new robes.

Within a few seconds, the girl was called to join Slytherin. "Di Vicci, Olivia." I'm up next. Livi thought nervously to herself, although she didn't show these emotions as she stepped up onto the platform. As the hat came over her head, she frantically thought about which house would be best for her. I mean, I'm pretty smart and I enjoy work - even though I don't let others see it. Although that was being homeschooled in muggle work. Will it be different now? And I'm pretty outgoing, everyone knows that! So maybe I'm destined to be a Gryffindor. Although I do love being kind and fair to all, and I get on really will with Leona and Benny too. And then Slytherin, well, I am competitive. But I don't think I'll be Slytherin - especially since that is apparently horrible to people with non-magical parents. Ravenclaw or Gryffindor for me I'd say. But I guess I have to let the hat make it's decision.

She sat, nervously, as the hat choose her fate.

"You're quite noble and brave, though kind and caring too... No, no, you definitely belong most to GRYFFINDOR!"

Austin walked into the Great Hall, feeling quite nervous. He saw a few people he recognized, such as Hoshi, and a few others. Austin stared straight at the hat. He stared at the man who had welcomed them. I thought the Headmistress was in charge of this, not a man. Well, maybe she got sick or something. Austin decided not to worry about it. His green eyes stared at the floor, hoping that whatever the hat chose for him, it would be a smart house.

"Devearux, Austin!"

Austin winced at the sound of his name. He then dismissed the nervousness, and held his head up, moving the hair from his eyes. He wished he had his favorite book with him. It usually calmed him down. His mind racing as he moved toward the platform. He glanced up at the ceiling, and then out a window to look at the sky. His mind raced with the information from the books he had read. He then faced the crowd and the hat was placed upon his head. I do hope I am suited for Ravenclaw. I sure am smart enough for it. I hope that I am sorted into that honorable house. Austin proudly thought of himself, wearing the Ravenclaw robes. However, it wasn't up to him. It was up to the hat.

"Yes, you belong to Ravenclaw. But it's not because of mere intellect but also wisdom that places you most in RAVENCLAW!"

Austin felt overjoyed. He got his house! He wanted to leap for joy, but he instead walked to join his house. He then watched some others, before recognizing Azerail get Slytherin. Austin smiled. He clapped as the words of the hat still rang in his ears. He was too happy for his own good.

Debilitas Aristide slipped quietly through th main hall doors and quickly took a seat, knowing full well that he was terribly late. He hadn't had a chance to change into his school uniform yet, so he was still wearing the dark jeans and over sized hoodie sweater that he almost always wore. The sweater sleeves were way too long, sweeping well past his knees, the hood oversized enough to fall just below his nose and cast a decent shadow across the rest. He'd never much liked the style but a kid of his predicament didn't really have many options, so he couldn't complain.

Glancing nervously from the shadows of his hood, Debilitas studied the faces of the students around him, wondering solemnly how each of them would react once they got a good look at him. Many of them looked every bit as nervous as he was, only he wasn't nervous about which house he'd be sorted in. It didn't really matter which one he ended up in in the long run (though to be honest, he sort of liked the idea of being a Ravenclaw) because chances were, his experience in any given house wouldn't be any different if he'd been placed in another.

He'd just settled into his seat when the odd looking hat at the front of the room bellowed out his name. "Well this is probably going to be the last time someone says my name right," Debilitas thought in good humor as he shuffled quickly toward the hat, his movements slightly awkward, akin to the way a bird often walks, as if unaccustomed to walking. An uncomfortable silence had fallen over the room when the hat had begun calling names. As Debilitas strode forward the world had never sounded quieter. The sound of the laces of overlarge boots dragging across the stony floor sounded louder than a marching band in his ears.

When he reached the hat, he picked it up carefully, wondering briefly what would happen if he dropped the thing. He discarded the thought with a quirk of a grin and hopped astride the stool, habitually hooking his feet around the legs as his mind moved onto a more prominent problem. Obviously it wouldn't work very well if he tried to put the hat on over his hood, though the reaction to such a goofy sight would be significantly better than the one he knew was coming. With a reluctant sigh, he pulled back the hood, revealing his face in all its horrible glory. Debilitas had never taken much joy in gazing at his reflection in a mirror but he remembered what he looked like well enough and he knew how he looked to everyone else.

His left eye was significantly larger than the other and his irises weren't quite right, too large for his eyes, like a dog's, so that the whites of his eyes were scarcely visible at all. His nose was hooked in a creepy sort of way, very much like those of the hobgoblins in a child's fairytale book (or the ones at the bank, though if Debilitas had any relations to them he wasn't much aware of it, and he was a far cry nicer than any of them), his teeth slightly crooked with a visibly sharp edge to them (he didn't smile much).

He didn't wait for a reaction from the other students, dropping the sorting hat swiftly onto his head while taking special care to keep his sweater sleeves covering his arms and hands. Put me wherever the heck you want, he thought miserably, Just put me somewhere where brains matter more than looks.

"Well, wherever I want isn't just anywhere if you want to be placed in a house of intelligence. I could see you doing well in Gryffindor, or maybe even a little bit Hufflepuff. No, definitely not Hufflepuff. Hmm, your deligelence as to your studies and wisdom places you best in RAVENCLAW!"

Let the birds sing and the angels cry, for the sons of the heavens,
Have come tonight.

Henric was caught up in his thoughts, glancing at the chinese tattoo embedded into his right arm, the dragon curled in a spiral around the chinese calligraphy words. So distracted he was, that, in fact, he found himself rather unaware of the sorting going on at the moment, he pulled his sleeve down to cover the tatoo, almost protectively. But that was all fine, he didn't care about the houses they were in until he himself was sorted, then he would know what to do and how to manipulate. Wasn't that what that man had taught him? And wasn't this what he was supposedly now born to do? Ah, the irony of the lowest to the one with the hopes pinned on and the trust curled around; like a serpent statue around the gargoyle's head, yet the head ended around the jaw of the beast, both would die and none would win, yet it was a work of art within.

"Lee, Henric."

His head raised, and robes flapping, like a great big raven, the robes spread out as Henric stepped forward. His shoes making a noisy 'clap-clap' sound as he moved forward, and robes slithering quietly behind him, Henric made the impression of a huge bird flying overhead, about to dive down for his prey. With the heads of many a girl turning in his direction with bemused or curious expressions, and many boys staring at him, albeit with venom, Henric was still nonpulssed.
Raising his rather pale hand, he grasped hold of the hat, meeting the soft leathery material with a surprised warmth, and yet a certain cold. This was the feeling they called anticipation, wasn't it?
The hat flipped over by his grip, and landed on his head, he closed his eyes slowly, the last thing he saw was a huge crowd, a huge crowd of potential villians, heroes, and anarchy. But he never saw what he wanted to see.

Not yet.

His thoughts merged with his whisper of a breath, and he muttered.

"Ru hua ji yi, shang si tian yi, wo he ping ji de ren, zhe shi wo ming shen."
[ Like a flower sheds it's petals, heaven rears it's head, peace is not my calling, but it is my will, this is my life. ]

"You could do well in most of the houses, but I think you may do best in SLYTHERIN!"

Henric raised his head for a moment, as if taking in the essence, then he took off the hat and walked towards the huge emerald green column of students. Many of whom were giving him smirks and long, droning claps, as if they had heard of him and were expecting him all along. As he sat down, he felt hands closing in around him, patting his back, or giving him whispers in the ear that were usually, 'Well done', 'Welcome to the best'. He closed his eyes, then opened them again, nothing but a genuine smirk on his face, and thoughts that couldn't be seen.

Tasanee Ming and her twin sister Amarante walked down the hallways with all of the younger students, they were both older then the others, it was quite sadenning really, at least in her opinion, she knew Amarante hated it more then anything. The young girls walked together then rolled her eyes at what her sister said about her and said, "I'm just glad to be away from Beauxbatons Ami." Amarante and Tasanee didn't get along at all, they used to but Amarante and Tasanee split apart when there brother died. So now here they are making jabs at the others expense.

When Amarante was called up Tasanee gave her a slight wave then watched as she was sorted, both of them were shorter then the other students despite the fact that they were older then them. Tasanee listened when her sister was sorted then beamed brightly at her. Her odd blue eyes danced softly. Then her own name was called and she eagerly walked up the steps, biting her lip was all she could do was not to squeal in joy from not being at Beauxbatons anymore.

Tasanee took a seat on the stool and the hat was placed on her head and she thought, I have no idea what house means what so feel free to decide, as long as it's where I belong Mr. Hat. Tasanee smiled at the hat though it couldn't see because well it was a hat, she didn't even know if it could hear her if she spoke to it, it obviously could speak but could it hear she would have to find out some day.

"I can only see you in one house... GRYFFINDOR!"

Azerail entered the Great Hall, with his dark eyes narrowed. He could smell the mudbloods. However, he chose not to worry about it. For he knew that he wasn't like them. Sure, he had muggles in the family, somewhere, but he didn't associate with them. He then saw Austin from the back of the group. Azerail showed no emotion on his face. His hair almost blanketed his face. He stared at the ground, unsure if he should feel happy for finally going to a school were he can learn magic, or nervous about the House he was about to be sorted into.

"Varius, Azerail!" Azerail's eyes glanced up. He watched Austin get into Ravenclaw before, and now it was his turn to be sorted. Azerail then walked to the hat to be sorted. He thought, I don't care what House I am in. It isn't the House that determines a person. It is their actions instead. He felt the hat on his head, and his impatience grew. He hated being stared at. Knowing this only made a darker expression over his icy face.

"SLYTHERIN!"

"The time has come, no more delay,
I call you forth, come on, let’s play."

Now it was time for the sorting. I looked over at my peers, most looked terified, but there were a few who looked bored, or excited. Professor King, started reading out the names.

"Elise, Aymee" I looked around, and saw a small girl with black pigtails, walked up to the podium.

"Please sit." She hopped up onto the stool, and Professer King, set the sorting hat onto her head.

It only diliberated for a moment before it cried out "Ravenclaw!"

The room burst out in cheers, especialy a table to the left, which I presumed to be Ravenclaw. She jumped off the stool, took off the hat, and ran over to the Ravenclaw table.

"Ross, Abigail." Oh, great! My turn. I walked confidently up to the podium, and sat down on the stool. Professer King set the hat on my head, it sliped over my eyes. I stared at the inside of the hat.

"I can see you doing best in only RAVENCLAW!"

The room erupted again. I sliped off the stool, and handed the hat to Professer king. I quikly ran off to my table.

as elvera walfed into the Great hall, she was scared yet awed over the vastness of it. she looked around and saw that she didnt know many people. she knew Tasanee Ming, and Lynn N. Horikawa, from outside the ice-cream shop, but that seemed like years ago. she wated and watched as Nick started the ceremony, and she listend intently as the hat sang. when the verse on huflepuff had finished Elvera thought i would hate to be there but she wouldnt mind out of grifindor, or slitherin, but she desparatly wanted ravenclaw.
the first name was called and she was suprised to see Zeke who she had met in bleak street, walk up to the hat. after a moment the hat caled out slitherin. i would quite like to be in slitherin, now
she thought, but she was really too nervous. time acted strange speeding up, yet it felt like it had gone on forever. she saw tasanee, go up, but of corse she would be a second year. she felt so small sorounded by all of the vastness of every where: this was partly true as she was small compared to everyone else with her dark hair streaming down her back.
sudenly through the silent noise she heard her name called out as if from miles away "Le Fey, Elvera"
she walked up trying to look brave yet the only thing she felt like doing was runnung away and being sick to where nick was standing with the hat and sat down with before taking the hat and placing it on her head. it fell down to her armpits as it as a very big hat and she was very small. at least i can't see them she thought. and then a voise started up in her ear

"I see you fitting in best amongst the wise. Yes, you belong most to the house of RAVENCLAW!"

after hearing her house be called out she got up took of the hat which she gave to her new porffeser and went to join her future class mates at the table

"Jay Styles!"

He was ready and was already on his way to the stool. Pushing through the waiting students and trying hard to kick as many people in the process, Jay leaped up onto the stage. He had a very strong feeling of where he was going to be spending his magical education. He felt a bit disgusted when he found out they were expected to put on a hat that mudbloods had on their filthy heads every year for nearly all of eternity but tried not to think about it too much. Feeling miles away from his past of being tormented, he was finally being recognised for the talent he possesses.

The filthy old hat landed softly on his head and promising himself he would wash his hair with the strongest stuff he could find, Jay waited for the word he was looking for.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Sam stood and waited nervously for his name to be called out. This was it. The moment. His heart thumped so loud in his chest he was sure others could hear him. As Toni got up he watched keenly, she was one of the first but it mattered to him. He clapped loudly as she got into Slytherin. When Knight was called he also listened, Ravenclaw! Sam clapped as hard as he could once more. He didn't even look around the marvellous hall that stood around him, he was to busy counting down the letter till.

"Prince, Sam"

Sam had forgotten to exhale, he finnaly forced his legs to move and he pushed his way through the crowd. As he sat on the old stool he twiddled with his thumbs until the headmaster placed the sorting hat on his head. Sam listened while it talked to him....

"You're quiet a friendly and loyal young man. I think you'll find the most success lies for you in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Taylor waited, slightly bored. This sorting ceremony was too long. She never had the patience to wait for anything. Her attention span was just too short. She was surrounded by idiots squeeling over what house they would be in with their friends. Taylor rolled her eyes as she stood by herself. How can anyone be nervous, your going to be put into a house whether you like it or not, the only thing Taylor was worried about is that she would be sorted into Hufflepuff, her father would never stop making fun of her for it. Still then she could live with that. People making fun of her never did get to her. Nothing really did, she was far to laid back for that.

"Taylor Mercer"

'FINALLY' She thought. She sauntered over to where the sorting hat was placed and sat down on the chair with an indifferent look on her face. Not much was going on in her mind exept perhaps that she wanted to be placed in Slytherin. At least there she didnt have to deal with the idiots that were blabbing on about how scary the sorting would be. Please, it was a hat on your head, she wanted to get this over with, eat and then head off to the common room. She waited with the hat on her head, until it made its final decision.

"I see you desire Slytherin, but I see you being most successful in GRYFFINDOR!"

Alyssa stood waiting impatiently to be sorted. This ceremony took too long. With an attention span like Alyssa's one cant sit still for long. She was finding it highly annoying. Especially when she had to listen to idiots blabbing on about how scary the sorting was. Please, its a hat on your head. Your going to be sorted whether you like it or not, they should just get over it. Alyssa rolled her eyes as one kid burst into tears on the stool. She was sorted into Hufflepuff and then the next name was called. She hoped she wasnt in Hufflepuff. He dad would never stop making fun of her for it. She looked to her left and noticed a boy drooling over her. Damn veela blood got irritating sometimes.

"Alyssa Fatelle"

Alyssa sauntered up to the stool as the hat was placed on her head, she really hoped this would all be over soon, she was starving. She wondered for the first time where she would actually like to be placed. She supossed Slytherin would be the best option for her. She always wanted to get her way, she had the ability to outwit anyone in an argument and she would stop at nothing to succeed. At least there she didnt have to deal with idiots either. Maybe Ravenclaw would suit her? She didnt know. She stuck her nose in the air and scanned the rows of eyes on her. She did enjoy this kind of attention. She waited indifferently for the hat to make its decision.

"I can see you in nearly any house... Not Hufflepuff, you say? Well, despite it's reputation Hufflepuff is for the kind and the loyal. I think you;d fit in there quite well. Yes, HUFFLEPUFF!"

Hyo-rin watched her peers get up on stage when their names was announced. Hyo-rin's legs began to shake, she didn't know a single thing about the houses, except they were called Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Hyo-rin turned around, and watched the kids sitting on the various tables. Hyo-rin smiled. The kids were all western-looking, unlike her. But some did look Asian, but mostly looking like Japanese, not Korean. Hyo-rin sighed.

"Min, Hyo-rin!!"

Hyo-rin turned around instantly. It was her turn. Her heard thumped so fast, she thought she was going to get a stroke. She gracefully put the hat on her black hair, and waited. Just put me in the house i belong.. she thought, having no idea where she was going to be put in.

"Putting people where they belong is what I do best. Now, I see you're quite brave... but also quite wise. No, no, you definitely belong only to GRYFFINDOR!"

Wendy walked into the Great Hall shuffling along with all the other students. She was wringing her shirt over and over out of nervousness. She had no idea what they were supposed to be doing but from what all the students told her she had to just put on a hat and it'd magically know where you were supposed to go. Wendy thought of Isabella and all her comments on how she belonged in Hufflepuff with the pushovers but Wendy didn't let it bother her. She'd heard a lot about the other houses and she personally hoped she would be in Gryffindor.
As the Professor spoke Wendy's hands became increasingly tighter on her shirt and soon it was a wrinkled mess. She watched the first couple of students get sorted and sighed with relief as it didn't seem to hard. Finally "Chaos, Wendy" was called. Usually her last name was so unique people would repeat it out loud, as if asking themselves if that were really her name, but there was already a student with that name so the small amount of murmuring Wendy usually heard wasn't murmured this time. She smoothed out her shirt where it was so wrinkled, and walked up to the stool to sit and place the hat on her head.
She waited with baited breath for its answer...

"You're afraid you'll be placed in Hufflepuff, I see. Well, no need to fear, you don't belong there. No, you belong with the brave in GRYFFINDOR!"
