Sorting Ceremony (Y6)

Yet to have her uniform, Wednesday stood in the great hall. To her it looked wonderful. The cerling was just beautiful and she couldn't help but look up and stare at it. Though for anyone who knew Wednesday would know that this was typical behavior. She was quite an observant eleven year old girl and she was fond of things that odd and unique. Quite like her.

Today she was wearing what she liked to call her banana outfit. It consisted of bright yellow jeans that hugged her young girl curves along with a white shirt that fell past her knees. This outfit also came with banana earrings that dangled in her newly pierced ears.

As she tipped her head back to look at the cerling the sorting ceremony was beginning. Actually Wednesday had no need to listen to the man speak. She had no interest. His voice was not odd or different at all. Nothing special unlike a bewitched cerling. Though as an old hat starting to sing, Wednesday attention was focused on that singing hat. "Wicked" She managed to say under her breath. Once the hat stopped singing Wednesday was tempted to yell for another song but as the great hall began quiet she was smart enough to know this wasn't the place.

Names were called out with rather ease. Wednesday waited for her turn which seemed to never come. Though like all the students who were waiting Wednesday knew her name had to be called. As it was she held her head high her banana earrings moving from side to side as she walked.

She played her butt on the stool and looked around the area. Lots of people, all witches. The thought was amazing to her. Well of coarse there were wizards too but still a school for magic. This whole place was interesting. As the hat was placed on her head she smiled brightly. You have a lovely voice She thought guessing that the hat could hear her. And I have to say you are the first singing hat I've ever meant, well talking too Wednesday thought as she swung her legs gently.

But I should probably think about the houses now Wednesday thought I don't know really want house I want. I like to read and learn many languages She thought thinking that maybe it would be Ravenclaw that she fit in. But I am also one for adventure. Like the time I broke into that old so called haunted house. Wednesday though smiling as she recalled that day with her best friend who hopefully would also be coming to Hogwarts New Zealand as well though Wednesday wasn't sure if she decided to go to Hogwarts Scotland instead.

I guess I am cunning She thought But I also claim to have a big heart She finished thinking everything through not knowing if it made a difference. I don't really care too much. You know were I belong. Please sort me singing sorting talking hat She thought as she closed her eyes for a brief second as the hat called out her house.

"Yes, you do have a big heart. You care for others and are very loyal to your friends. Yes, you belong in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Shinta watched her peers get sorted. Being the typical Indonesian, all she did was stand alone timidly, too shy to say anything. Her friends had told her she was the most talkative of the gang, but she was now in a foreign land, culture totally different than in Indonesia.

"Tantono, Shinta!"

Shinta looked up, and nervously walked up the steps. She sat on the stool and placed the sorting hat on her head. It was time for the Indonesian girl to get sorted..

"You're outwardly shy but deep inside you I can see great cunning. Yes, you belong in SLYTHERIN!"

Hallie grinned as she walked through the large Hall doors and into the Great Hall itself with all the other new students. The Hall was absoloutely packed full with all the upper years and Professor's and Hallie got a strange feeling in her stomach. Everything felt so cosy and homely and she was sure she would enjoy herself here.
As her eyes scanned the four house tables and a grin still played on her lips, her attention was brought to something else, an older man standing infront of a podium, welcoming them all to Hogwarts, or back in some cases.
Hallie listened and smiled up at him, then once he had finished, an old patched hat began to sing, she knew this was the Sorting Hat, she had heard loads about Hogwarts from her parents and knew what was coming next.
Exactly as she had thought, the Sorting came next and Hallie waited eagerly for her name to be called, her pams getting sweaty and excitement, along with nerve, growing and growing. As mounds of students took a seat on the three-legged stool and were sorted into there houses, Hallie began to wonder if somehow she wasn't meant to be there, when finally she heard "Hallie Wilson" Being called, and she grinned and began to walk up to the Stool, Happy that the man had pronounced her name correctly. People always seemed to pronounce Hallie's name like Hayley, when it was pronounced like Ha-Lay. Taking a seat apon the stool, Hallie looked out at the sea of faces staring up at her as the old hat was sat on her head. After that she could hardly see anything as it covered her eyes a good bit. She laughed to herself a little before hearing a voice which she knew was coming from the hat, but which seemed to be coming from iside her head. Then she closed her eyes, "Hello Mr. Hat" she thought, hoping the hat would be able to hear her thoughts, she didn't want to talk out-loud and seem like a total head-case to potential friends!

"There's only one house in that you belong in, and that house is GRYFFINDOR!"

Tichondrius tugged uncomfortably on the collar of his travelling robe. The long, high collared and slightly dusty robe covered the white shirt and jeans he was wearing, ending just above his sneakers. The robe made him look like some sort of vicar, a fact not helped by his considerable height.

He eyed the ragged hat perched slightly bent on the stool. The line before him awaiting to be ... Sorted, yes that was the term ... had shortened considerably. The first time the hat spoke and screamed the assigned house, Tichondrius found it somewhat unsettling. After the third or fourth time though, he'd gotten used to it. There would be undoubtedly be more things to get accustomed to in this new world.

"Illitharis, Tichondrius!"

Mildly impressed that the teacher had not stumbled over his either of his names, he strode forward, the robe billowing slightly. He sat on the stool and slipped the hat over his head, and waited.

"I see you desire Gryffindor, yes, you might do well there but I see even greater successes for you in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Darren walked into the great hall and took a seat and began to talk to others about what house they wanted to be in. He watched as others walked up and sat on the stool, he wondered what house he would be in but wanted to be in the house that his parents where in. His dad told him that his mum would be proud of him nomatter what house he got put into but that didnt change anything for him. "Gillan, Darren." Darren was thinking about everything that he didnt hear his name."Gillan,Darren is he here?" His name got called again and he stood up and began to walk to the front. When he got there he took a seat on the stool and placed the hat on his head. Please place me where my parents where. Darren thought to himself as he closed his eyes and waited to be told his house.

"Gryffindor isn't quite where you belong. Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw might suit you better. You're loyal and caring, then it must be HUFFLEPUFF!"

Kristen felt her heart quicken as she heard her name being called. With shaky legs she wills herself forward, up the stairs and in front of the stool which she was to sit on. Taking a deep breath she turns and sits upon the stool and feels the sorting hat being placed on her head.

As she sits on the stool her minds wonders to all the books she has read about the school and it's different houses. Slytherin....I don't think I would do well there, I'm just not like that. And I don't think I would be brave enough to belong to a house such as Gryffindor. So maybe it will be Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, not that I mind, they seem like nice houses to me. She thinks as a smile smile plays on her lips. No matter which house she is put in, she knows her dad will be proud of her.

"You seem to desire Hufflepuff most of all, and you'd fit there too, yes, that's it. HUFFLEPUFF!"

She wandered around the empty corridors, talking softly to herself, when a Griffindor girl came over to her. "What are you doing? Ar'nt you meant to be in the great hall? You havent been sorted yet!" Said the girl. Napolde thought quickly. "Yes, im new, but..er..Professor Mcgonall ( i know teachers names as my sister lohren came here 2 years ago) told me to go to the...quidditch pitch..and i cant find it." She grinned cheekily. "Well, your going the wrong way for starters, and Proffesor Mcgonal will be sorting you. Go back to the Great hall!"

Turning around, Napolde started to walk back to the great hall. Crossly, she started planning somthing against Griffindor.

When she got back to the great hall, the first years had already started being sorted. She hopped in line and waited her turn anxiously...

"RAVENCLAW!"

(((Out of Character: Please note that your character's sister could not have attended here two years prior, as this Hogwarts is in New Zealand. That also means Professor McGonagall is not sorting you nor is she at this school. :)
~TSH~ )))

I walked into the great hall with all the other first years. It was bigger then i thought it would be and alot fuller. Crap. I felt myself begin to shake, which i usually did when i had to go infront of people, i was so nervous. At least i wasnt first i thought or last which would have been even worse. Then the sorting hat started saying its poem....... then a teacher started say names. A's B's C's and so on untill they reached H's. "Havishmen Arisa." Gulp. I walk up to the stool Hoping my black hair would cover my pale face which was turning a slight pink. The hat was put on my head so i couldnt see anything, and all i could think was omg here we go.....

"Hmm, I can only see you finding success in HUFFLEPUFF!"
(((Out of Character: Please remember to role play in the third person.)))

Efeyenia made her way into the Great Hall along with the rest of the unsorted students. As she entered the Hall she saw the all of the tables lined up beside each other, One for each house she thought to herself.

As the group stopped Efeyenia listened to Professor King welcome them all and begin the ceremony. One by one all of the students got sorted into their houses, Efeyenia began to get nervous What house will I get into? I don't even know myself.

Then from in front of her she heard,

Samartzi, Efeyenia.

She froze for a second, then it sunk in that it was her turn to be sorted. Making her way through the remaining students she sat on the stool and felt the hat been placed on her head.

Where ever I go make right for me was all she could think as the hat pondered her house.

"Hmm, well you might do well in Gryffindor, but your desire for your own success places you in SLYTHERIN!"

Beth shook violently as she heard her name called; "Bastone, Beth"
Beth looked around feared that they would say this was a mistake and that she wasn't a witch or that all this was some cruel joke.
Beth sat lightly upon the stool and felt the Sorting Hat slip onto her head and fall over her eyes.
Her brain was whizzing in dizzying circles.
Suddenly she heard a voice just above her which made her jump.

"You're intellegent, and wise, yes, I see a lot of Rowena in you. You'll do best in RAVENCLAW!"

Tala looks around the Great Hall with a small expression of awe on his face. To be honest he has yet to take in that he is a wizard.
"Ivanov, Tala" He jumps with a start when he hears his name and takes it as his cue to sit on the still. As he walks up to the hat he eyes it warily, not sure if he should trust it, then again it has just shouted out the name of the four houses, so it can't be that bad.

He sits on the stool and feels the hat being placed on his head. From his view on the stool he can see the faces in the hall and smirks. Oh so many I pranks I can pull on these unsuspecting people, too bad Bryan isn't a wizard, or else we would have had a lot of fun doing the pranking together. His smirk widens when he thinks of his older brother, eyes still scanning round the hall, he rests on the Slytherin table. Sullen looking bunch they are. He then looks at the Gyrffindor table. And they look sooo over-confidant. He doesn't really spare the Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw tables a glance. goody goods I think.

"Over-confident they may be, but you're one of them. GRYFFINDOR!"

Angel rarely looked at the Sorting Hat that so many others squealed at, but when she did, her gaze held blankness, uncertainty, a pressure to continue the family Slytherin line, and hesitance. Not outright fear, like some of the students near her, qho were squealing with anticipation and fear, but more of a kind of hesitance; a wish to prolong the moment before her name was called out.

Pushing a hand through her platinum, obsidian-streaked hair, she surveyed the area with interest and trepidation. The Great Hall was rather large, with candle sconces lighting up most areas of the room, but the Slytherins all seemed to be snickering and using magic to blow them out - they appeared to like darkness. Obviously.

She saw many students striding up to the Hat and being sorted, but she knew that she'd be soon - her second name wasn't far down the alphabet, after all!

Suddenly, a loud, ringing voice called out, "Farrell, Angel Marylin!"

Her dark steel eyes flying to the Hat in shock, she quickly walked up to the Hat and quickly pulled it on her head, not making eye contact with it - if that was even possible - at all.

There's all this family/peer pressure to go to Slytherin. Is that where I'm meant to be? she thought.

"You might do well in Ravenclaw... Family pressure for Slytherin? Well then, it best be there. SLYTHERIN!"

Abby watched the sorting, eyes wide. Usually she would have her nose in a book, but she was to terrified to read. What did the hat do when it was put on people's head? Would it hurt? Abby shivered, as the hat placed a girl into Slytherin. She wouldn't mind too much being a Slytherin, but she knew she would be teased because of her love of books. Gryffindor? Not likely, she wasn't brave. Hufflepuff? Not kind enough, Abby usually put herself before others. Ravenclaw was a possibility, and one she hoped would happen.

The had was now in the "E"'s, and Abby was shaking terribly. She fingered the silver charm bracelet that she wore around her right wrist, covered in little things that reminded her of home. The island where she lived was popular for it's jewelary, and metalwork. Abby was scared coming in this new place, everything was so new! Everything had always been rather old-fasioned in Abby's house, she had to wear a dress when she went out, no shorts ever.

Her long, black haid was braided into tiny little plaits, all over the top layer of hair. Her hair was very long, as she hadn't ever cut it in her life, except for split ends.

"Edwards, Abigail." the teacher called her name. She jumped up, and walked slowly to the stood. The hat went on her head, blocking her sight. The last thing she saw was the Ravenclaw table, and it's blue and bronze decorations. Please Ravenclaw, I won't fit in anywhere else. she willed silently.

"You might fit in elsewhere, but I agree, the best house for you is RAVENCLAW!"

Lola was so nervous and she scanned the Great Hall for her cousin. She didn't see Kat anywhere and couldn't remember what house she was in. Her attention turned back to the ceremony that was going on and her stomach jumped up in her throat. Being raised as a muggle, Lola didn't know a thing about the magical world with the few things that she knew about her aunt's family. Luckily Kat had been a good bit of help to her over the summer in preparation for the coming up year at Hogwarts New Zealand.

"Mason, Lola." Her name was called at last and she felt a bit nauseated. This one hat was going to decide where she would spend her next seven years, but Lola herself was very uncertain as to what house she might belong to. Just put me where you think I belong she thought to herself as she sat on the stool. The hat was placed on her head and she waited nervously for its repsonse.

"Where I know you belong is where I'll put you. For you, I think that'll be RAVENCLAW!"

Lola sighed in relief. At least now she belonged somewhere and she'd have Katalina to help her through the next year...at least until she learned the ropes and ways of magic. Lola went and took her seat at the house table that she now belonged to, a big smile on her face.

Eliza was standing in the now small group of unsorted students, She watched students go up and be sorted, She wondered
what it would be like having a talking hat placed upon her head. Eliza dug her hands into the pockets of her jeans and
tapped her foot impatiently, She let her eyes wander over the tables and thought about where she would be placed.
Gryffindor..Ha! No way in hell would she be with them!
Ravenclaw..Well she liked reading but they seemed too nerdy.
Hufflepuff..A badger, your kidding me! And what about the shortened term "puff". Ridiculous!
Slytherin..There's a house she liked! She'd feel right at home with them.
A few more students had disappeared from the group, She looked around and saw they'd already been sorted. She groaned, when would
it be her turn!
Then it happened, she heard her name being called

"Springleaf, Eliza."
God she used to hate her last name but now she didn't seem to mind, She made her way past the students and up the stairs to the stool.
She sat down, her eyes flickered once more over the tables before she closed them and felt the hat be placed on her head.
It was time, What table would she be put into..

"Well, you carry more of the other house's then you'd like to admit. You'd make quite a fine, 'puff', even, as you put it. But I suppose if you really want it that it'll be SLYTHERIN!"

Abby walked into the great hall never being so scared in her life! When she got there she looked around and started to sweat thinking something is going to go wrong like most things did in her life. A man in black robes started calling name after name for kids just like me to go up there and get sorted, finally Abby got called and she was nervous yet excited. Her best friend Arisa had just got put into huffelpuff and was think i hope i go there please i hope i go there.....

"Alright, if that's what you want, HUFFLEPUFF!"

Walking into the great hall, with her head held high, Libby shoved a small boy out her path, and went to stand with a group of sinister looking people. The group stared at her, and she glared back at them with her deep green eyes. "What?" She asked. "Why are you hanging around us?" They replied. "'Coz i want to". The group laughed amongst themselves. A tall boy with jet black hair stood foward and said "You'll have to prove yourself then."
Libby wondered what to do. Grabbing a nearby toffee apple, she threw it in the air, causing it to bounce off the head of a Hufflepuff. The poor girl it had hit turned round and started blaming the boy next to her. After a few minutes, teachers and students alike had got caught in this, giving Libby and her new friends a chance to escape from the great hall. The tall boy stepped foward again. "You're good. Do you normally enjoy getting others into trouble?" he asked. "Certainly" She replied. She grinned cheekly and went off to find smeone else to humiliate.

Sometime later I would guess

"Helga did say she'd take the rest... HUFFLEPUFF!"

"Elir Anouk!"

Anouk turned her head as she heard her name being called, her hands already slightly clamy becoming more damp as she prepares to move. Sliding softly off her seat she makes her way to the stool at the front. All her well thought out gimicks and jokes she had planed fading from her mind as she moves.

Time seems to slow as she thinks about her brother. His smiling face, laughing grin morphing into the darkend scowl she saw last.

Pushing this from her mind, she arived at the seat her mind racing. Anxious and oddly sombre she thought "just let me be my own person, i wont be like him". She held her breath as she slowly placed the hat on her head.

"You may not feel you belong here yet, but I know you'll succeed only in RAVENCLAW!"

Dyraz slowly walked into the Hogwarts Castle ,after getting off the boats, and gazed at all the amazing features that the castle had to offer. From the amazing golden walls to the massive floating chandaliers,Dyraz was in awe of what he was seeing as he made his way into the Great Hall to get ready for the Sorting Ceremony.

As Dyraz followed the teacher into the hall he looked up and saw the magnificent night sky magically beaming down on him from above the Hogwarts Roof, he saw the hundereds of anxious faces of students already onto thier hogwarts life and the many teachers staring down on them as they walk to thier positions.

Dyraz awaited the calling of his name as anxious as the student next to him and started sweating hoping he would be in the right house.

A teacher Called Out :
"McFare ,Dyraz"

Dyraz Started to walk up to the stool. He walked up the 1st stair then tripped on the second stair and almost landed on his face.
Everyone in the hall started to laugh and a senior from one of the tables was the loudest in a loud cackaling kind of a laugh.

Dyraz stood up and walked over to the stool with a slight smile coming from his mouth. He Leant forward and grabbed onto the hat ,placed the hat onto his head and sat on the seat ready to be sorted

"You belong to the noble house of GRYFFINDOR!"

Neita walked into the Great Hall and gaped. She looked around it was such a magnificent building, she'd never seen anything like it before. She was still trying to accept that she was a witch. She looked around nervously, she was clueless as to what was going on. Neita looks around shyly wondering what going to a school of magic would be like. Neita did well in muggle school (as they called it) but she had always found it boring. She wondered how different this would be. She saw students walking up to a stool sitting down and putting a hat on. The hat would call out different names that were supposedly names of different houses.
"Wright, Neita!" they called out at last. Neita, upon hearing her name, walks up cautiously to the stool and hat, wondering what house she would be in, what friends she would make, what life would be like now. She shivers, half nervous, half excited. She sat down, put the hat on and awaited its judgment.

"I can see a little of every founder in you, but most of all I see you belonging in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Sern looked up at the doors of the Great Hall, He was late as he had gotten lost in the castle. Sern pushed the door open the slowly slipped inbetween the other unsorted students in time to hear his name be called.

"Summers, Sern."
The voice echoed in his ears and then, shaking his head clear, He walked up towards the stool and sat down.
Please be Gryffindor He thought as his eyes wandered to his brother and cousin seated at the Gryffindor table, It would be an awful shame if he wasn't with them, Maybe the hat would be nice to him, he hoped.
Sern felt the hat being put on his head and he closed his eyes, awaiting his fate.

"You, like your brother, belong in GRYFFINDOR!"

Athena Was standing in the crowd of First years, there was little Left, but she still waited, Rubbing One hand along the other Palm, She watched as each student went up and got sorted, she thought she was going to be the last one, She started to Tune out to what was going on around her, She started to tune out from some students whispering, She Brushed her Long Deep Dark Brown Hair over Behind her Shoulder as she looked down back to her hands.

"Opal, Athena"

Athena Didnt hear her name being called as she tuned out, she Was nudged Softly by the person standing next to her, She quickly Looked up to the Sorting hat,
she walked up to the sorting hat, not wasting any time,
She Turned Quickly and sat down on the 3 legged stool looking out into the Crowd
Glancing from one table to the other, Looking at the seas Of Blue, red, Green and yellow
The Hat was placed on her Head,
She sat Silently and waited to be sorted.

"No, no, no, you don't belong in Slytherin at all. Sorry m'dear but for you it's HUFFLEPUFF!"

Sighing softly, Ruth stood alone, bubbling inwardly with fizzy anticipation, as she was swept along by the mass of new, excited first years. She, of course, was close to leading the pack, with only some brainy, arrogant guy and a stern looking male teacher in front.

When Ruth (and everyone else) entered the Great Hall, several hundred faces looked back at them - some friendly, blank, grinning, and even hostile from the Slytherin direction. Ruth merely smiled somewhat cunningly, looked down, and put on the shy act she had perfected.

Suddenly, names were called out, and nervous yet excited first years hopped up to be sorted. Ruth mused, I wouldn't mind any house, really ... I just bloody hope I'm accepted! She smiled slightly at her thoughts, and waited, albeit a little impatiently, for her turn.

Finally - "Zackerell, Ruth!"

Quickly, Ruth stalked up to the Sorting Hat, gave it one impassive, mildly curious glance, before swinging it on her head and awaiting the Hat's decision. She sat on the chair rigidly, twitching a little and balling her hands into fists.

Where am I destined to reside? she thought. I have the cunning and winner's mind of a Slytherin, impatience of a Gryffindor, and brains of a Ravenclaw. She frowned. I don't see Hufflepuff slot into anywhere about me, though.

"You think quite a lot of yourself I see. Well, whatever you think of yourself, you belong in RAVENCLAW!"

That person was looking at me, Ok maybe not. That girl was though im sure, Ok maybe not. Just calm down I told myself, no one is looking at me. Im just going to look at the floor, then I wont make eye-contact... good plan.

Was that my name?? As I Looked Around All The Other First Years Were Doing The Same Thing. Ouch! the girl I met on the train just nudged me. It must have been my name. Breathe in, Breathe out, Dont trip as long as I dont show my fear no one will no Im sceard... last thing I need right now is to show anyone weakness.

As Jek sat on the stool there was a curious expression on her face. She was looking at everyone in the Great Hall as though she had spoken to, and judged, every single one of them.

It doesn't matter what house as long as Im popular, I waited what seemed like hours. I could hear a noise coming from somewhere, but things like noises didnt matter right now. Just focus on the Sorting

Everyone was looking at her intently. One boy whispered to his friend, 'Is this starting to take longer or am I just getting bord'. Suddenly the sorting hat moved...

"You might do well in Gryffindor, but I think that you might enjoy yourself more in SLYTHERIN!"

(Remember to roleplay in the third person. :) )

The group of first years walked anxiously into the great hall. Bella knew they were all staring but her nerves forced her to stare at the floor.

She knew she would be one of the last called
... They joys of having a last name beginning with 'R'. She would have to keep staring at the floor as each student was called and sorted one by one.

And then finally... 'Bella Rigancy'

Her world stood still... 'this is it' she thought

She slowly walked up to the stool... stumbling like an idiot when she finally got there...

'great everyone’s going to think I’m an idiot now... I pray to god I at least get a good house.. Slytehrin... Or maybe Gryffindor... I’m not smart enough for Ravenclaw... I think... then again Hufflepuff wouldn’t be that bad either... ok well at least I know I’ll get a good house... there all good...'

Then darkness slid over her eyes as the hat was placed on her head....

"Oh, you're plenty smart enough, yes, that's where you belong, RAVENCLAW!"
