It was Alistair's last year at Hogwarts, and he wanted to do more with the Student Defence Association than simply hosting duels for the older students to participate in. A particular Holland had proved that some of the people were just there to fight, instead of learning the importance of defence, which at its core was the purpose of the club. There was much more to defending oneself than knowing and casting spells, and it was that more obscure knowledge that he himself had wished he'd known sooner in life. For a while now, 'Stair had been interested in a particular magical plant known specifically for its defensive properties, and was personally invested in raising awareness on its use, given that it could have completely changed his life had he known about it sooner. The prefect didn't know the first thing about planting however, so he had turned to the leader of the Wild Patch Club for help, and was grateful to have his co-operation.

Notes had been sent out to members of both his and Norton's clubs to try and get them involved. It was important to Alistair to try and get as many of them to join in as possible, even if only to listen and learn. They'd found a good spot in the Wild Patch, a nice flat plot of dirt that had been cleared out. To the side, a potted sapling and a few garden utensils sat waiting, that the Headmistress had been kind enough to provide for the small event. The lycanthrope had set a few pebbles in a ring around where he'd guessed they'd need to dig a hole, and idly waited for people to arrive. "Thank you for agreeing to this." He murmured to Norton. He'd always wondered if he should have been more invested in the other clubs, but the SDA had been a handful on its own and it was far too late now to start seeing for himself what everyone else had to offer.

OOCOut of Character:
Just come say hi, feel free to have anyone start helping to dig up a hole where the stones have been marked out so we can get into planting sooner if you like!

Willow made her way to the garden. she looked forward to any event outside and she was curious as to what the student defence club would be doing there not in the dungeons. it was an unusually warm autumn day and she was dressed in jeans and a singlet her head still bald but starting to grow fuzz of her naturally ginger hair again that could be felt more than seen. she saw Alistair and Norton in the garden with what looked like a small tree which made her even more curious. what did a rowan tree have to do with defence? "Hey guys. how's it going? she asked. guessing that the event wouldn't actually start until some more people were there. but curious as to what it was.

''Hey, guys!'' the girl had not often come to the club she had signed up for. Now she came here and said hello to the others. Today Jenna was in a great mood and her homework was done and delivered on time and so now she wanted to dedicate her time to this because she once dreamed of being a prefect

After getting a message from the King of the Flowers, that there was an event out in the gardens that would be collaborating with the Student Defence Association, Wendall had been racking his brains about how on earth the two could even be connected. One was duelling and the other was planting flowers. Weren't they sort of like opposites? Even so, he'd made his way to their meeting point where he spotted a few people he didn't recognise, so he assumed they were from the other club. "Hi Jenna," he waved at his housemate, before looking up to one of the older boys that seemed to be organising the event. He didn't seem that willing to announce what they were doing yet, so the Hufflepuff tucked his hands behind his back, and walking up to the tree, began to peer up and down.

"Oh, Hey, Wendall! Jenna blushed a little to Wendall and she hoped he would be don't sea this. "How are you? Are you ready to Summer soon?" She smiled to him and that was a realy big shock about the time who go so much fast.

Wendall looked back over his shoulder at the brunette. "I can't believe that it's actually going to be colder soon," he mentioned, thinking back to the warm summers he'd have in America. Here in New Zealand their seasons were backwards, which meant June, July and August would be expecting snow, although hopefully he would be at home by then. "Do you have any plans over the summer?" he asked curiously, wondering where she lived away from the school.

Charlie had been both surprised and annoyed when she was told how the SDA would be closing out the year. This seemed even more pointless than the lunch thing they had had last year. Arms folded, Charlie approached Alistair with a frown as soon as she reached the gardens. "If I wanted to plant trees I would have joined the tree-huggers club." She said bluntly, probably more words than she had ever spoken out loud to the club president before. "Why aren't we having an actual practice. This is pointless." The exams that would decide whether or not she could become an auror were getting closer and closer, and Charlie knew she needed every moment of the practice time slowly draining away around her.

"Yes, time go so fast" She smiled to Wendall and looked to another boy who join in the club. "I dont't have plans of summer but I'm going back to New yourk and you? Jenna asked the Hufflepuff boy.

Norton had been a little surprised when Alistair had approached him about the event, he didn’t dislike the boy, but he didn’t exactly know him all that well. The hufflepuff was keen and interested and always interested in having events with other places in the school he had decided that it would be a good thing. He had done a little to prepare for it, informing the members of the wild patch, deciding with Alistair and the head mistress for a plot for the tree and then also getting the ground ready for it, It was his responsibility as the wild patch leader to get that ready, to provide that help to the SDA. Norton had put a flower grown on his head, not really the event for it, but as the king of flowers he was thought it would just make sense to wear one and have them if they wanted them. The place was set up, everything was in order to just get started and Norton was actually pretty eager, he waved to the leader of the SDA as the boy approached and at his words shook his head lightly. ”Of course! I think this is one of the first times that just the SDA and the WPC have worked together, so it’s going to be fun,” he had learned in their interactions that Alistair was not a particularly talkative person, but it had never bothered norton. Some of the members started arrived and Norton smiled at them, ”Come on in guys, we’ll get started shortly,” he told them with a friendly tone, he was a little surprised when one of the SDA people voiced their concerns but he gave the girl a little smile, and knew that Alistair could handle his . lot.

Elio had been a member of the SDA for a while now, but he'd never seen two clubs cross with one another as they planned to today. It was a good way for the Gryffindor to take his focus off Rowan too, who he still hadn't made up with after Valentines, and he made his way down to the gardens to join the others, who were already in conversation. He was about to talk to the leader about how the event would have effected their duels, when Charlie, and older student in his house, managed to beat him to it. However, her tone seemed more irritated than he would have gone for. After his fight on Elsie's behalf, Elio was more geared up than ever to defend what he thought was a good thing, "Do you know this club is like.. optional?" he asked, shoving his hands into his pockets with a raise of his eyebrows. If the girl didn't want to be here she was more than welcome to leave. Better than to have her grouchiness effecting everyone else after all.

Wendall's eyes lit up when Jenna said she was going back to New York. "My mom lives in Michigan!!" he said excitedly, although upon realising that he was actually going back to spend the holidays with his Aunt because his mom didn't want to fork out of the cost of a flight back to the US, his smile dropped a little. "I'm staying with my cousins in New Zealand," he admitted, trying to put on a brave face, hoping it would be fun regardless.

"Your mom live in America?" She didn't know about this but she hoped Michigan was America and she didn't lose skills to map. "I wish you a great spend time with your cousins" Jenna smiled Wendall and she listened other here to and hoped soon will be started an interesting work.

Alexis came to the greenhouse for an SDA event coordinating with WPC. Being a member of the latter, she was glad for this activity. What made it even more fun was her patrol partner was the president of SDA. She arrived and saw Alistair and Norton talking together. A few members were already there as well. She could feel some tension among the SDA members. Scanning the room, the prefect looked at them before she went up to the two presidents. "Hey, guys. Great job on organizing this.", complimenting them. "You never mentioned this to me. This is a great surprise.", turning to Alistair, playfully teasing him. They patrolled hallways together but the Slytherin never mentioned anything about it.

The boy nodded, "She's lived there her whole life" Wendall wasn't actually sure if that was true, but he'd lived in the state with her in America until he'd moved in with Olive. "Thank you! My cousin used to be a professor here. I thought she would try and give me even more homework, but she's distracted now because she just had a baby.." Wendall trailed off, hoping he wasn't annoying Jenna with giving too much personal information.

Eric had thought the SDA would be a fun club, at least... more fun than anything else Hogwarts had to offer. He'd especially disliked the Wild Patch Club, especially since Connor had joined it. It just seemed like such a bore. So when the president had said they were going to have a joint meeting with the other club to plant some stupid tree, Eric was annoyed. He turned up, but only because he didn't want to be kicked out of the club. He heard an older girl complain to the president, and then a Gryffindor boy defended the dumb decision. "She's right." He said with a shrug. "Planting trees is dumb."

Even though things weren't as tense with Alistair as they had once been, things were still a little off. The Slytherin had tried to make an effort today though by coming down to the event he was holding with the Wild Patch Club, but as the red head got there, she realised one of the other prefects in her years was already trying to chat him up, at least, that's what it looked like. "Don't mention it Alexis. People like to keep information to themselves apparently," she mentioned with a roll of her eyes. She sort of knew why Alistair hadn't told her some personal information, but she had also come to learn that he kept things close to his heart too. She would never admit it, especially not out loud, but she believed it to be both a strength and a weakness than he was so closed off. "You like planting things?" she asked the Ravenclaw, wondering why she'd never really noticed Alexis before.

Ilija had been completely conflicted as to whether to even attend the event held by the Wild Patch, but after he knew that Alice had helped out with the roses during Valentines, he sort of thought it would be more obvious that there was a problem if he didn't attend. After fussing with his casual outfit for much longer than was necessary, he headed outside into the autumn weather to see if there was anything he could help out with. Not wanting to get in the way, the Hufflepuff was lingering behind, happy to let others go first. That was, until he spotted one of the boys he'd seen in the Conglomerate arts rooms talking about trees. "Why?" he asked before he could stop himself, too curious as to why anyone could think nature was a bad a idea.

Phoebe may be feeling a little bitter towards Alistair after their duel, but she was still ready to join this meeting and have some fun. She had never liked planting things too much, but she figured Alistair would have a good reason for picking this subject. Phoebe headed over to where the president was standing, hearing a few different things at once. She rolled her eyes fondly when Charlie grumbled. "Like you need to practice." She said, kissing her girlfriend's cheek in passing. But Leda's words rubbed her the wrong way, as they had last time. Was she still really hung up over Alistair not sharing personal information with her? Phoebe scoffed. "Leda, do you really feel that entitled to everyone's personal information, or is it Alistair in particular who should just tell you every single thing in his life?" She asked her, then she turned to Alistair. "Quick, let her know what you had for breakfast, before she's mad about you withholding that information too." She joked.

Leda spent a good few minutes glaring at Phoebe, who clearly had no idea what she was even on about, or why she had a reason for wanting the information in the first place. The Ravenclaw could only see as far as her nose, it was quite sad really. Making a mental note that she was almost as low on her hate list as Willow, and that she'd certainly come to regret it during the next Hogwarts Monthly issue, Leda blanked her completely, instead turning to Alistair. "So, on the topic of actual important information, what's this tree about anyway?" surely it had to be a special tree for a whole event to be planned around it.

William didn't know what to expect from a joint club event, but as soon as he arrived at the Wild Patch he was tempted to turn around and go back to the castle. Of course the SDA kids were all picking fights. This was pointless, and he didn't really feel like having a bunch of obnoxious duelling kids trampling all over the garden. He hung back and kept an eye on Norton, hoping the leader could salvage this mess. Otherwise, it might be more worthwhile to just go spend the afternoon in the forest.

Alice had briefly considered joining SDA a few years ago when she had also tried her hand at duelling. She had actually managed to win for her year, but she had decided against duelling again. It just wasn't too much fun for her, as she had actually felt really bad for winning against Vader in that duel. She preferred the Wild Patch Club by far, but was still very excited that two clubs would be having an event together. Somehow, it hadn't occurred to her that some people wouldn't like this sort of thing. It kind of hurt to hear Phoebe's girlfriend dismiss a club she was a part of as 'tree huggers', and especially when Eric agreed. She had decided to stay out of it, and instead drifted over to a Slytherin boy in her own year. "Hey, this should be interesting right?" She asked William.

Alexis only meant it as a passing conversation but with Leda, everything was a big issue. Rolling her eyes, she gave a bland smile to Leda. "I don't know whether you are here for the event or for your next HM ish, but I think you don't understand a joke, Leda." The Ravenclaw did not need to explain things to Leda and was about to ignore her when Phoebe came over and quickly threw out a snide remark about the Slytherin. She chuckled at this, glad that someone else sort of shared her annoyance for the girl. At her question, Alexis was quick to control another eye roll and just said. "A Wiggentree is known to protect anyone from the attack of Dark Creatures, so long as you are holding its trunk. Surely, you know about this Leda.", she turned to the girl. "Or was this not in your HM issue?", giving her an innocent smile.

Leda hadn’t even meant to show annoyance towards Alexis personally, by the girls attitude was getting on her nerves. The Slytherin chuckled along, “Oh I understand a joke completely. I can see so many right now!” She laughed forcefully, her smile dropping quickly. Her mood turned even more sour when the Ravenclaw did her best to educate her. “Wow Alexis, you’re so knowledgable! I can’t say I did know that, given that I’m not actually part of the Wild Patch club,” she send another forced smile to the girl that was being hideously patronising. “The HM tends to deal with ongoing current issues rather than the properties of trees unfortunately, but please, feel free to come by when you have a moment out of your terribly busy schedule and perhaps you can inform me!” She nodded briskly, hoping the Ravenclaw would be arrogant enough to continue her argument and Leda would get something juicy for the gossip column.

Willow watched as people started to arrive. There were a lot of people who she knew but not many of her close friends yet. She did remember as she saw a girl with red hair walking towards them that leda was going to be there why did she have to be there. She reassured herself for some smite remark but none came maybe she didn’t recognise her or notice her or maybe she was too busy arguing with phoebe. She chuckled at phoebe responded about leda being nosy and needing to know everything. As someone asked what they were planting she spoke up it’sa rowan right, meant to protect against witchcraft she said she knew a bit about trees as it was tradition in her family to be named after a tree she was named willow after a tree her mum had liked climbing and hiding in and her mum has been named willow and often pointed the tree out to her when they had seen them this one looked a little different. It wasn’t until Alexis called it something else that she realised she had been wrong. Either way she was glad that she wasn’t getting the main brunt of leda misery and then felt bad for being a coward. What kind of auror was a coward when faced with aN annoying school girl.

Nell was positively intrigued about today. She had been questioning her decision to join the SDA since last year's duels, and decided to stay out of them all together this year, watching instead to try and pick up some tips and tricks. Today, though... what could the SDA and the Wild Patch possibly have in common? Nell was fascinated by both clubs, and she was eager to see what things would be like when they worked together.

Not working together, seemed to be the answer. Nell arrived at the Wild Patch just in time to see a large group of older girls all bickering, doubly disappointed to see that it seemed to mostly be prefects causing the trouble. She took a step back, hoping to keep her head down and avoid all the fighting.
