Malfoy Manor

Liz laughed. "Don't worry, you haven't told me anything I can work with. If you could tell me why in the world Estrella and I are important at all, that would be different." she smiled, and got up, grabbing the pillow from the ground. "As far as I know, we're just two second years. Better at quidditch than most, but that's about it."

Liz hardened her face, eyes gleaming as she mocked him. "Oh, why am I telling you this?" she asked dramatically. "You might hold my quidditch playing against me. Then where would I be?" she held her hand to her forehead dramatically.

In interest, Garett asked, "What do you play in Quidditch? And how about your friend?" Unbenowst to Liz, knowing their flying skills would help if they attempted to escape. "I was a chaser for Slytherin, on my house team."

Liz smirked. "Beater. Meaning I hit things hard. Including people. Estrella's a keeper." she grinned. "And don't think I don't know why you're asking. Don't worry, I have other plans of escape." she doubted he'd call her bluff. Her voice was convincing, but she wasn't sure if he was practiced in occlumency or something.

Garett only smiled knowingly. "Sure.... Hmm... A keeper and a beater? So why in the world would you want to be in Gryffindor?"

((oops~type! changed it XD ))

Liz practically choked on the air. "Well, incase you hadn't noticed," she said upon her recovery, "I'm not the same as the rest of my family. Oh, the unwillingness to take the dark mark for example. The compassion?" her eyes glazed a bit. "I was hoping to be in Gryffindor so people wouldn't avoid me from my family name. Honestly, if I were in Slytherin as well as a Malfoy?" she laughed. "It was hard enough to testify at my friend's trial with the name."

"You had a friend on trial?" He asked misbelievingly. He thought about it, and then continued, "Wait a minute.. That girl that was in Azkaban before for killing Rose Landers?"

Estrella wondered what in the heck was going on over in Liz's room. All she could discern was a lot, and she meant a lot, of hissing. Then she remembered that Liz was a Parseltongue.. but it sounded like she was conversing with someone. Are there snakes crawling around this house? she thought in horror. Shuddering, she pressed her ear up to the wall to see if she could pick up on any real conversation.

Liz laughed. "Yeah? Bella. Well, Bellatrix Green to you I suppose." she bit her lip. "I believe anyone can change. Bella's been hurt. I'm trying to heal her." her eyes saddened. "It's not working as fast as I'd hoped. She's outwardly showing a lot of improvement, and I'm sure that a portion of it's acting."

Liz sighed. "Some of it isn't though."

Suddenly Liz looked back at Garett. "So, if I'm going to keep telling you things, you'd better tell me some as well. What's your name for one? I didn't catch it among all the violence and insults in the hall."

Garett sighed. "I guess you're gonna know who everyone is, so, my name is Garett Black." He raised his eyebrow. "Bellatrix, huh? Must have been named after my distant cousin. And I take it that your friend over there hates her? Considering that she was in the daily prophet and all.."

Liz nodded. "Bellatrix Lestrange? Bella told me she was named after her. Estrella is obviously on the outs with her. Then again, most of the school is. I may be one of the only ones who has talked to her a lot and hasn't been cursed." she laughed. "Although, I'm sure she's wanted to a couple times. She's not a fan of hugs. Or me caring about her in general."

Liz's eyes gleamed. "She also doesn't seem to share my flair for pranks and mischief."

"Well, she can't exactly be mischievious, if you get my drift," Garett snorted, "Since she must be on probation after Azkaban." He pricked his ears as he heard movement in the corridor. "I'm going to have to leave soon," he murmured.

Arcturus walked through the corridor, only able to go partway so not to abandon his duties. "Where the bloody hell are you? Did you go Animagus on me again?" he whispered agitatedly.

Liz rolled her eyes. "Honestly, not any sort of mischief that gets people hurt. If nothing else, I wouldn't do that." she noted the noise in the hall, and bit her lip. "I hate to ask this of an evil captor, but could you check on Estrella for me? Make sure she's okay?"

"Sure," Garett whispered in Parseltongue. "But really, I have to go." He could hear Arcturus looking for him. "Goodbye," he said, and slipped back through the crack under the door in his lizard form.

"You muggle lover!" Arcturus hissed as Garett appeared behind him and startled him. It was a common death eater insult, that was used just to insult and not to reference the personal likings of another. "What in the world have you been doing?"

Liz watched under the crack of the door, listening for Arcturus. "Thanks" she whispered, as he left.

He's not that bad... she thought. Suddenly her eyes went wide and she hit her head with the pillow. I think I'm falling for a death eater. Bloody fantastic.

Liz heard him through the pillow. So, he's not going to tell my secret? she groaned, and hid under her blankets. Why couldn't he just be a total jerk?

Liz continued hiding under the blankets, groaning at her stupidity every few moments.

"You're an odd one, Garett," Arcturus murmured, shaking his head, and walked down the corridor, past Estrella's door where he was supposed to be.

Unable to hear anything human out of the Parseltongue, Estrella started to turn away. She jumped as there was a rapping at her window, and she gasped in surprise as she saw Harper tapping her beak against the glass, a letter snapped firmly in it. Estrella recognized the untidy scrawl of her uncle Carlisle. How in the world had Harper gotten a letter from him?

The barn owl didn't seem to understand that Estrella couldn't open the window and let her in, and she hooted impatiently. "I can't, I'm sorry, I can't take the letter!" Estrella apologized frantically. She waved her hand to shoo her away, but the owl was insistent. "Go to Hogwarts, Harper," Estrella mouthed. "Go back to school." Irritated, the owl dropped the letter and flew off, and to her luck, as always, it was stuck between the bars of the window, visible for all to see. She just hoped that Harper would be okay, and that the Death Eaters wouldn't get to her. Her eyes began to water in frustration; the situation was so desolate.

Making sure that Arcturus was out of sight, Garett returned to his lizard form, slipping under the crack of Estrella's door to check on her, just as Liz had asked. He froze as he saw the situation at hand; an owl was trying to get inside, but found it impossible. He heard every word that Estrella spoke, and when the owl was gone, he noted the letter by the window. There was no way that the girl would get hold of that. Slipping back out, he returned to human form again, and returned to his post. He would have to report it. To the right people, anyways.

Estrella was relieved when it was time for visitation with Liz.. the whole matter sounded ridiculous.. only a half hour? Lief, now on duty, escorted her from her room and into Liz's, where the woman named Lissandra was guarding heavily. She was ushered into Liz's room, and the door was locked behind them. Estrella immediately jumped on Liz's bed, sitting next to her. "Who were you talking with earlier, Liz?" she asked eagerly.

Liz grinned. "Thank merlin this half hour came! I was going mad." she ignored Estrella's question- she didn't want Estrella to be angry with her.

In fact, I don't think I could handle any one knowing that I had an actual conversation with a death eater. An enjoyable conversation.

"So, which is most important to you? Finding out why these nutters want us, or escaping?"

Realizing that Liz was reluctant, Estrella decided that she would ask her question again later and let the matter lie.

"I don't know," Estrella muttered. "Both, I guess. But escaping would be nice."
She leaned over and said quietly, "Harper was at my window. I got a letter from Carlisle. But I can't get at it."

"I think I'm more curious about why they want us here." she sighed. "I think there's something bigger going on than family matters. They wouldn't be going to all this trouble if that were it."

Liz bit her lip. "And the letter... is it too far out of your reach? Or is it a magical barrier?"
