Malfoy Manor

"These windows," Estrella pointed to Liz's, "Seem to be a magical barrier. I took a candlestick to the glass, and it barely made a sound."

Liz sighed as a knock came from the window. Liz turned to see an owl. "Oh!" she ran to the window and looked at the envelope.

"It's from Pungahn!" she said. "Ugh! I can't even read a letter from my seeker." she watched as the owl turned, dropping the letter on the window sill and left.

Coming back to the bed, she looked at Estrella. "Alright, so we need a plan."

"Yeah. Any ideas?" Estrella asked, twiddling her thumbs. "You know, your grandfather said this conversation was monitored...." She looked down onto the floor, and was not surprised to see none other than a Weasely invention, the Extendable Ear, lurking just under the door. She pointed it out to Liz, and whispered, "Watch this." She crawled onto the floor, put her face close to the ground, was silent for a moment, and then bellowed, "OOGABOOGA!!!!!" The sound was obviously amplified, as she heard the audible sound of someone falling over and crashing into something, followed by some shrill shrieks and nasty swear words. Estrella doubled over, laughing so hard that she thought she was going to burst. "Payback is a biatch!" she roared, rolling on the floor and tears pouring out of her eyes.

Obviously the eavesdropper, it was Lissandra who was knocked over, her ears blown out by the sound. "Those little-" she snarled, pointing her wand at the door, her face flushed red in fury.

Liz laughed. "Honestly, I practically live on wheezes. I can't believe I didn't catch that." she started speaking loudly, and took out a piece of paper and a quill, writing.

"Wow, those death eaters sure pulled one over on us. Honestly, they're so brilliant. I wish I could be just like them someday." she said in a mocking tone.

By the time she was done, she'd scrawled a quick note, and handed it to Estrella. She gestured for her to hide it in her robes until she'd returned to her room.

We'll communicate honestly on paper. Write me a note for our next 30. I'll do the same.

Estrella nodded. Her and Liz could sit here and talk about boys, of all things, and be writing something totally different. It was brilliant. She took the note and slipped it in her pocket. She beamed at Liz, ignoring the infuriated shrieks of Lissandra on the other side of the door.

"Yeah, I know," Estrella laughed, and nudged her head to the door, "But she is kind of pitchy." She indicated the shrieks out in the corridor.

Liz laughed. "I don't know, I say she's a soprano in the making! I'll even give her singing lessons if she promises not to curse me."

Estrella was still laughing as the door was blasted open, Lissandra fuming and holding her throbbing ear. The sight was so comical that she could not stop even when a wand was pointed at her chest.

Liz looked up at Lissandra. "Oh, sorry. We didn't think you were the one monitoring. I figured it would be Vladmir or something." she said casually

"Shut up!" Lissandra snarled. "You brats are lucky that I don't know who screamed into that stupid thing..." She was glaring daggers.

"Oh come now, Lissandra," Lief chuckled in his thick accent, "At least you know the things work. Maybe too well."

Liz looked apologetic, "Well, whichever one of us did it, we were both expecting Vladmir over there. Hoped the sonic vibrations would get rid of grease or something."

Lissandra was in too much pain to chuckle, but she stared angrily at Lief when he could not surpress laughter. "Time's up," she snapped. "I guess you two are allowed to eat meals together, too. Later, though."

Liz whispered at Estrella, "The big baddies are giving us food? How sweet."

She turned to Lissandra and Leif. "You lot aren't going to be monitoring the frequency of our chewing though, right?"

Estrella passed Liz a knowing and sad glance as she was escorted out of the room and into her own. When she was sure that no one was at the door, she began writing a hurried note.

I think I have an idea that might work. But should we stay here for awhile before it happens, just to lead them all on?

She slipped the piece of parchment into her robes, hoping that it would not be found.[/color]
