The sorting ceremony had come to a close, and Matt smiled at the sight of the fresh new faces at all the new tables. He had always been fond of the sorting ceremony, he was glad to be a part of it now. Matt stood up, waited a few moments for everyone to settle down, then spoke.

"Good evening students and staff of Hogwarts. I know how eager we all are to start our wonderful yearly feast, but I have a few quick things to say." He smiled as he paused. " For those of you who are freshly sorted or simply didn't know, my name is Professor Matt Alcott-Ward and I'm the headmaster here at Hogwarts."

He took a sip of water before continuing. "Alongside me are your Heads of Houses, these professors are here to guide you and lead you in your respective houses. The head of house for Hufflepuff is Professor Landon Carter, for Slytherin, Professor Angel Castillo, for Ravenclaw, Professor Kahurangi Josephs, and for Gryffindor, Professor James Cade." Matt gestured to each of the professors in turn so the new students would know who was who. Then he went on.

"I already spoke about the forest before the sorting ceremony started, I hope it's not necessary to repeat myself now. I don't believe I have any other new announcements to make, so I'll finish up with this: I wish everyone here a wonderful, productive, and fun new school year. The food will appear in a moment, and I hope everyone also enjoys this wonderful feast." He said, smiling as the platters of food appeared the moment he finished speaking. Matt sat back down at the staff table and mentally went over his speech, hoping he hadn't forgotten anything important. He watched as students started to chat and eat, feeling excited about the upcoming year.

Josh was in his final year at school and couldn't believe he had made it this far. While he enjoyed the magical life, he couldn't wait to get out of here and was able to enjoy his life properly. It was hard to keep his muggle friends, he didn't have as much now as he did when he started Hogwarts, which made him sad. School break was beginning to be the same as every other school break, having awkward catch-ups with friends, especially since he couldn't talk about this part of his life. Josh was zoned out for the entirety of the ceremony, mindlessly clapping when everyone else was clapping and cheering. When the headmaster finished speaking, the food had finally appeared onto the table. Josh slowly grabbed the food that he wanted. Honestly, at the moment he wasn't really that hungry. He leaned onto his left hand as he played with his food with a fork he was holding in his right hand, his mind drifting off.

Conan was now in his sixth year and he couldn't believe how far into Hogwarts he had been. It wasn't that long ago when he had been at Hogwarts with his eldest siblings, and now he was the eldest out of his siblings to be still at school. Conan sat at the Ravenclaw table with the rest of the Ravenclaws as he listened to the ceremony, though if he was being honest, he had been zoning in and out throughout the entire thing. Though he clapped when everyone else did, happy to see that there were some firsties joining their house. It wasn't long before the food had finally appeared on the table. Conan wanted a bun but noticed that the bun was a bit further away from him. "Hey, are you able to pass me a bun?"

Eliza was back at Hogwarts, and honestly, the girl had mixed feelings about it all. She much preferred the muggle life. While it was cool learning all things magical. she definitely preferred the muggle life. The Gryffindor listened to the ceremony as each firstie was sorted into their designated house. Though halfway through the ceremony, Eliza got a bit bored, as she then pulled out one of the comics she had brought instead and read it throughout the ceremony, though she was so far into reading her comic book, she was unaware that the food had appeared.

Marley was super happy and excited to be back at school. She couldn't wait to see and hang out with her friends, learning more about the magical world, as well as quidditch. There were so many things Marley was looking forward to this year. The Hufflepuff listened carefully and paid attention throughout the ceremony, clapping along with everyone else when they had been sorted into their houses. She cheered and clapped extra loudly when a firstie was sorted into Hufflepuff. It wasn't long before the headmaster said his usual speech and then they were off with the food appearing. Marley didn't mind the food here, it was good enough for her to eat. Marley quickly grabbed the food that she liked and placed them on the plate in front of her before she began to dig into her food. "Hiya! How was your break? Did you get up to anything interesting?" Marley asked happily to the person near her, as she then continued to eat her food.

Fiona didn't mind her time at Hogwarts so far. Though she hadn't made many friends, which had bummed Fiona a little, though she knew she had to try and make a few friends this year. The Gryffindor listened to the ceremony, clapping when she was supposed to. It wasn't long until the headmaster came out with his usual speech and they were finally able to eat. Fiona quickly grabbed her food and started to ear.

Thomas honestly wasn't sure if he was happy to be back at school or not. He was already homesick though. He missed his dad. He had made a few friends at school which he liked, but he still would much rather be at home than anything. Thomas listened carefully to what the headmaster had said, as he didn't want to miss out on anything Thomas thought was important. He politely clapped after each person was sorted. It wasn't long before the headmaster went on his usual speech, and Thomas made sure to listen carefully. The food had then finally appeared on the table which he was grateful for. Thomas waited for everyone else around him to grab their share of the food before he was able to grab his.

Sophie couldn't believe that this was all real. When she and her brother had received their letter, thought it had been one of those silly pranks that her dad would usually pull, but that didn't really seem like the case. Sophie was a little nervous being here, but she was excited. She couldn't wait to make new friends as well as learn about the magical world. Once Sophie was sorted into her house, she was interested to learn more about the house. She sat with the rest of the Ravenclaws as the ceremony continued on a little longer. She clapped along when all the other firsties had been sorted. Sophie listened carefully to what the headmaster said, wondering what sorta rules and other things were implemented in this magical school. It wasn't long before the food had appeared on the tables. Sophie looked at the food with amazement. There was so much food to choose from, she couldn't decide what she wanted to start on first.

Todd was seated at the Ravenclaw table, but his attention was fixed on the Hufflepuff table, his eyes looking for Penny. She occupied his thoughts from morning until night, and he was eager to see her. With so many faces around, it was a challenge and then he was interrupted when someone nearby asked him to pass something. "Huh? Oh, sure," he said absentmindedly, handing over the roast potatoes without thinking while still looking across the Great Hall.
@Conan Burke

Vex very much enjoyed the sorting ceremony whenever it started, and the best part was it was also his birthday! The festivities were ever such fun and it was like all of the ickle little firsties were there to celebrate him! In all of his glory! Yes that did make the most sense. With his little crown and his bucket of goo, the poltergeist, full of mischief floated gently (and invisibly) into the great hall through the roof. Tucked right up into the top, he looked out over the sea of beaming new faces, grinning gleefully from ear to ear. His time to shine would come soon, once the ceremony and food was almost done. He couldn't wait, he had thought very hard about this and he had such lovely birthday party plans. Getting everyone involved would be ever so fun!

The Poltergeist watched on silently as the tiny little ocean of pebbles moved around in their sea of treats and troubles, ooh, he could not wait to have the party with all of them. He could remember the stern look on Alicastell's face when she had told him off, but the great news was she didn't control him anymore! He was a Poltergeist freeeee from her very stern face. The glee in his eyes shifted and he glanced over to Wardy. The name had worried him at first, perhaps he'd thought to try and ward Vexxie off! But so far he hadn't managed that, and so Vex would keep his beady eyes peeled, but for the moment, his attention remained on the very slim-able first years!

"Come out to playyyyyyy," he singsonged, hidden away in the top of the hall.

Ethan knew he should feel some kind of way about this being his last year at Hogwarts but to him it kind of just felt like another year. Of course he was pretty sure it was going to be a great one, with Marnie and his new prefect badge. But as the sorting ceremony ended and the feast began he just kept thinking that he was excited for what life could look like once he was done with this place. He already had a job, even if it wasn't one he wanted forever and most importantly he could spend more time with his sister. The only downside of graduating now was not being at school with Harlow, but he couldn't exactly get held back for ten years to wait for her.

Leah sat down heavily at the Gryffindor table the moment she could. For the first time in a long time she felt like she could breath again. She watched the sorting ceremony with interest as she waited for her cousin's name to be called. As she saw Ruth she stood up and cheered for her and tried to give her an encouraging thumbs up. She held her breath and silently hoped her cousin would be sorted into the same house as her. She was starting to feel more and more out of place with her family and she desperately wanted someone to be like her. But as the hat announced Slytherin she sighed. The ceremony was over quickly after that and then the feast appeared. At least now there was food to distract her.

The blonde walked the Great Hall with an bigger smile than ever, and her shiny badge on her so that everyone could see it. June didn't felt the need to prove to everyone she was the best, because she knew it herself. And the rest was just jealous, they all wanted to be as good as she was. How hard they were denying it. But it was not neccesary to get their attention, it gave the blonde just a lot of pleasure to throw it in everyones face. She sat at the Slytherin table and watched around. As the Headmaster spoke she listened. June now needed to show herself more to him, she had to think of ways to make impact on the school other than her perfect grades and housepoints. Castillo had told her some social activities too. The blonde was part of SDA so she was participating in clubs, but perhaps the social advice was because he wanted her to go even higher than prefect. So she had some idea's. Starting with pouring an pumpkin juice for herself she looked over to the Slytherin table to see who would fit with her idea.

Rosalind was glad to be back at Hogwarts, feeling a little strange that she was no longer a first year. She got to watch the sorting ceremony for the first time, finding it rather...boring. Sure, it was interesting to try and guess the house before the hat announced it but there were just so many students. It just kept going. Where there that many when she was a first year she wondered? Finally, it was over, and Rosalind listened to the professor talk. Thankfully it was short, because Rosalind was starving. Once the food appeared she started to dig in. She'd missed this food. It wasn't like her Dad was a bad cook but nothing compared to a good Hogwarts meal she decided.

Emmanuel couldn't still quite believe the head boy badge which he now held. it felt like a massive honour and a massive mistake. He had worked hard, had done well, but he had never done it for the recognition. he had never been so ambitious as to be doing all he'd been doing for a chance at this. And yet he had it. He watched the sorting, applauding for every student, for every ravenclaw. Eventually the sorting ended and he focused in on what the headmaster was saying. He hadn't realised that the old head of Gryffindor was stepping down. That was something. But then the food appeared and he just focused on that.

Apolline enjoyed the sorting ceremony a lot. It was much easier to be on this side of it than that, and she knew she'd enjoy it more when Henri joined the school in the next year. She was very eager for it. She had her own ideas on where he'd end up and she was looking forward to finding out she was right. The head master got started, welcoming them back and then telling them bout the same things he'd done in the previous years. She wondered if Seventh years found it annoying, but she didn't linger on the thought long, just then focused on getting some food on her plate and said to the person next to her. "Good break?"

Winnie Calida was very excited to finally be at school. She had known she would come, but part of her had worried that with her parents being the way that they were, that she'd end up with being forced to stay at home. Though her parents were usually right about things, the opportunity to learn magic at Hogwarts was too good an opportunity to pass up. So here she now was, newly sorted into slytherin and looking at the cohort of students around her, the first years, those twins she'd met on the train had been split and the girl, a gryffindor. She looked at the food as it appeared and tried to find something healthy.

Savannah hated these welcome feasts, the sorting, all of it. There was nothing more boring to her than having to sit through people she didn't know or care about being placed into houses. Though as prefect she was sure she was supposed to pretend she was interested, but she didn't, instead just had her book on her lap and was reading it, only briefly stopping when the food appeared and now putting it on the table, there was no need to hide it now.

Callie was very excited to be back at school. She was excited to see Dante, excited to spend more time with him as he hopefully became her boyfriend. She was excited for more quidditch and her classes. Magical school was exceedingly exciting to her. The hufflepuff had applauded loudly for each student sorted in hufflepuff, knowing what a great house it was for all of them. She was sure they'd all have a blast at the school, as she was. Callie looked at the food as it appeared and then took a few bits. "Hows it going?" she asked to a person near her.

Enoch was so tired, he didn't understand how this day wasn't over yet. Between being woken up before the crack of dawn by his brother, deposited at the train station and then the journey and the never ending amount of students. Enoch wasn't sure if perhaps he had just died and ended up in a purgatory where this day never actually wanted to end. Though of course that wasn't the case. Instead it was just that the day sucked. That there were a lot of students and then of course the head master had wanted to speak. "Fuxksake," he muttered, rubbing his eyes tiredly. but then blessedly, thankfully, the food appeared.

Magne thought it was pretty exciting to be back at school. It had been nice to be home and with his parents but it was as nice to be at school, and back to learning everything about magic. He had enjoyed watching the sorting too. He wondered how many of the students there were like him, completely clueless about magic. There had to be a couple. He knew that some other students had had a network for muggle born students but he wondered if there was anything more which could be done to help those students who were clueless upon arrival. The food appeared after the headmaster spoke and he gladly took some of food and put it on to his plate.

Gregory had really lingered and taken his time to get to the great hall, so he would be sitting nicely at the end of the table, where he would hopefully be undisturbed by proceedings. It was a lot though. There was a lot of noise, and he wasn't able to hear the sorting hat at all, could only base how sortings went with what table they went to. He zoned out after the first few names, turning his head a little away so that he would even intentionally hear very little of it. Even more so than just a distant noise. He almost fell asleep as the sorting progressed, and only became aware again as people moved and when they did, the noise was overwhelming, he couldn't make out a single world.

Fraser had been very surprised when he'd gotten the prefect badge. It certainly felt like it shouldn't be for him. Like someone else, anyone else should've gotten it. but he had it. He had been given the honour, and it had been one of the last things the head of house had done before leaving the school. That and he was now editor of the yearbook. Certainly Fraser had never been as busy as he now was. He wanted to do well by the school and the badge. He applauded loudly for each of the students sorted in Gryffindor, feeling a bit sad that he wouldn't get to see his sisters or his other siblings be sorted. He'd have graduated long before they got to the school. Fraser took some food as it appeared and put it onto his plate.

Friday was sure it would be a little weird to be at school without Monday, but she was also sure that it would be nice to not worry about her older brother threatening or trying to threaten boys she might be interested in dating. The gryffindor had been utterly bored by the sorting, it was just so long, and they had to watch it all. That was ignoring how much she had enjoyed her own sorting, it was everyone elses that was the worst. The gryffindor was glad when it was all over and she was able to just help herself to some food.

Miroslav had sat down at the slytherin table and then immediately pillowed his head in his arms and had slept his way through most of the sorting stuff, and only stirred when the room became much noisier, when the food appeared.
