Y38 Sorting Ceremony

The day that Xiuying was leaving Hogwarts, was the day that she was dreading. When the day came, it had finally hit her. She was mostly sad than excited now. She was going to leave her family for a bit, especially her brother. She wouldn't admit it, but the girl was going to miss her annoying brother. Xiuying had promised her brother and parents that she was going to write to them as much as she could.

When she arrived in the great hall, the girl had gasped quietly in slight excitement. She looked up at the ceiling, loving the stars and candles that were out and up in the great hall ceiling. Though the girl was a little sad again, as she kinda wished she was experiencing this with her brother. She had found it strange yet intriguing that there was a hat that had sorted students into houses.

"Xiuying Huang"

The young girl's name had finally been called, and she felt all the pairs of eyes stare at her as she made her way towards the stool that stood at the front of the great hall. The girl had suddenly become anxious as she sat onto the stool and felt the hat being placed on her head. She had hoped that this sorting thing would end quickly because she didn't like the fact that people were staring at her.

"I'll be quick, don't you worry, this is nice and easy...Ravenclaw,"

None of the words Synnove associated with home could be applied to Hogwarts castle. The school was cold, imposing, and, in spite of the many candles and torches hung strategically around the place, dark. Not that she had been expecting plush carpets and bright electric lighting. It was just different, that was all. The only thing it had in common with home, she decided, was the echo of footfall as they passed through the hall, though in here it was much amplified and a little creepy.

Sounds of chatter were carried off down long corridors to the right and left and swallowed up in the gloom. Through a large pair of doors they passed into an enormous room with tall windows and tables that stretched almost all the way to a podium at the far end. Synnove had been pushed to the front of the crowd by no desire of her own and had an incredible view of the decorations. And the eyes. Everybody seemed to be looking at her. Not just her, presumably, but that didn't stop her from feeling as though she had her robes on back-to-front. She came to a halt before the headmistress. It was a tense moment, elongated by the speech. Synnove's mind drifted. Would it matter where the hat sorted her? Lucan had promised that it didn't, but she hoped... well - maybe it was wrong to hope. After all, she had family in every house, and she loved all of them equally. Still... perhaps.

"White, Synnove."

Synnove White. Not the Synnove White, not even related to her in fact, but shouldering a small part of her legacy all the same. Pushing down a rising feeling of anxiety, she climbed onto the stage and sat down. The hat was still warm from the last student's head. She tried to think of what Simon would tell her, but came up with nothing. Never mind. It was almost over...

"It is almost over for you. This is a rather easy place, though I'd say there is a lot of intelligence here that it almost sways me, but not enough.....Hufflepuff,"

It was agony watching as student after student got called up to be sorted, while Amara continued to wait her turn to hear her name. Her mother had been a Ravenclaw but insisted that every house had its own special qualities. Amara loved her mother but hadn't necessarily felt that overwhelming desire to follow in her mum's footsteps, so she continued to wait with an open mind and heart. There were a few of her fellow first years whom she'd already met and grinned as each one was sorted into a house. She could only hope that, no matter where she went, she'd find friends. There was also the hope that there would be a giant ice cream sundae waiting for her. Amara raised up on her toes to peek at each table in an attempt to determine if there were any ice cream parties going on.

"Vayne, Amara."

It took a few extra seconds for Amara to process that her name was being called as she was too focused on the plethora of students seated at each house table. With a slight blush, she quickly scampered up to the stool and sat down. She tried to ignore the fact that the Sorting Hat being placed on her head had also been worn by numerous other students thus far. "When was the last time you got washed?" she mused to herself under her breath. The hat had dropped low enough on her head to cover her eyes, and Amara was relieved that she didn't have to look out at the hundreds of students staring up at her at that moment.

"Why do people always assume I'm not washed...like we live in a magical world, in a few years you'll learn a spell that instantly cleans something....come on now....but I'll make this quick so you can be rid of my dirtiness....Gryffindor,"

Grayson had gotten on the train with his two older siblings and had kept his headphones on his ears until he entered the Great Hall. Both his sister and brother had told him about that place thousands of times, yet none of their descriptions was even close to the real thing. The ceiling of the Hall was what always fascinated Grayson, that now had his headphones hanging on his neck.
He joined the other first year students, he knew exactly what to do, he had trained this with his siblings thousands of times, follow the first years, noticeable because they all share the same lost expression, keep quiet unless something is directly asked to you, go to the stool whenever you hear your name and let the hat be placed on his head. The steps were simple and knew them all by heart by the third time his sister repeated them.
Finally his name was called "Mendes, Grayson", he walked towards the stool. As the hat was placed upon him he looked at the Ravenclaw table recognising his sister in the third years batch and then looked at the Gryffindor table seeing his brother waving at him from the group of second years. He liked them both, but he liked his independence that he was used to a lot better and being on either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor would probably make it harder for him to have that independence since his siblings would keep tabs on him more easily. Just get me in a different house, he thought hoping the hat could somewhat read his thoughts, get me in a different house and I'll come play music for you every day I swear, he added with his eyes now closed and his brows furrowed waiting.

"That's sweet, but as you heard from my song, I'm the only music I need. For you though, I'd agree neither of those houses would suit you..there's some slytherin there, but I think you'd do best in.....Hufflepuff,"

Max couldn't believe he was here. He'd tried so hard to do everything he possibly could to make sure he didn't have to come to Hogwarts but it had all seemingly failed. The slashed car tyres hadn't worked because he'd forgotten that apparating was a thing. The faking sickness hadn't worked either, because his mother had just given him some disgusting medicine that supposedly cured anything. Not even hiding in a closet that no one had used for years had worked, and to make matters worse, it had been covered in cobwebs and filled with spiders. He swore he could still feel them crawling on his neck too. But none of that had worked and he was here anyway, although he wished he could be anywhere else.

When the speeches began, Max rolled his eyes at the Headmistress's talk about how Hogwarts would be his home for the next seven years. He already had a home, and that was on the snowy mountains where he could snowboard to his heart's content. He couldn't believe he'd have to give that up and be forced to stay here, where he was sure he wouldn't even find a snowboard, let alone a mountain big enough to snowboard down on. He hated it already.

He listened halfheartedly as the remaining things were said, the only thing catching his attention being the Forbidden Forest, and students being punished for having anything to do with it. Punished enough to get expelled...? He thought about this all throughout the Sorting Hat's song, which was just some sappy and boring poem anyway, nothing of interest to Max. When the time finally came for people to come up to the Sorting Hat, Max didn't even bother clapping for each of them. They didn't know him so why should he clap for something that they achieved, especially if it was something so stupid as just getting sorted. They hadn't even done anything except for sit down on a stool. He stood with his hands in his pockets, wishing this stupid ceremony would just come to an end.

Thankfully with a last name beginning with K, it wasn't too long before his name was called, and he walked to the stool which looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a good few years, thinking The sooner I get this over with, the sooner I can start planning my expulsion from the school... With that thought in mind he sat on the stool and waited to see where the tattered old hat would place him.

"You didn't hear this from me...but I don't think professors would take kindly to attempting to snowboard down the stairs.....anyway.....Slytherin,"

Parker wanted to go home. He saw all that happiness in Bella's face, behaviour and stance, but he wanted to go home. He wanted to forget that magic exists and just get to bed. Why Magic even was a real thing, if it didn't have any explanation? World would pretty good even without it, it didn't make any sense. Countries made sense, electricity made sense, even damned chemistry Made sense! And instead of any normal schools he was there, he was acting like a weirdo with wooden stick. What he was supposed to do with that stick? Try to poke someone's Eyes out and he must throw it at somebody and hope that he could run away? Blood and flying sticks was scary, but not that scary as those candles on the ceiling. How the hell did they even managed to tie them up there? What if they will fall on someone? That Can be dangerous! He was not going to sit under those!

He Made himself Smile and show Bella thumbs up, as she was sorted. This place was for her, not for him. He wanted to go home, even if that would mean that he has leave her alone. He'd never do that, if he didn't have really serious reasons. His patents were home alone without him! What would they do? Make little siblings? No, thanks, he didnt want little dolls to run around House and shout all damned time! Then he heard his name, he Made grumpy face and sat under the hat. This had Made even less sense. Please, tell everyone that I am muggle and I Can go home!. He actually already knew that that Hat can talk, but yet, he got really scared when it touched him and almost fell over.

"You are not however, muggle, so unfortunately you cannot go home. But you'll be fine, things are daunting but once you get to know things they become easier..and you'll do this in....Slytherin,"

Amaryllis stood inside the giant hall, eyes wide and mouth agape as she took in the spectacle before her. She'd never been anywhere so grand, yet haunting. After about the tenth time that day, she'd stopped pinching herself, but it was still hard to believe that this was her actual life. She was supposed to be returning to school with the rest of her friends with whom she'd grown up. Instead, her parents had to give some excuse about her going off to some fancy boarding school. Her older brother, Zephyr, had been especially rude about it all, so she couldn't say she was unhappy to be away from him for a while.

Still, there was nothing anyone could have said to have prepared her for this moment. The young girl had actually jumped when the old hat started singing about the different houses. No one had told her she was entering a world of singing hats. She'd just expected to see someone pull cards out of their sleeves or maybe a quarter out of someone's ear. Sure, Amaryllis had bought a wand, but she still wasn't convinced that the response hadn't been some sort of trick of the eye.

When her name was called, Amaryllis hesitantly tip-toed up to the stool, her fingers gripping the edges of the wooden seat as the hat was placed on top of her. She turned her head about eyes looking under the brim in an attempt to find some sort of speaker device. "You don't really talk, do you? I bet one of them is a ventriloquist," she whispered to herself, her eyes landing on the professors. Surely one of them was doing that trick of throwing voices to make it sound like the hat was speaking. Now that was an impressive trick she wouldn't mind learning.

"A professor long, long, ago enchanted me but I'm not a puppet. I think you'd make a good hufflepuff...certainly that seems like the obvious choice for you....but I think you could find excellence in....Ravenclaw,"

Grisha Khami-no, Styx now, was not sure what to expect from this school. His mom went to Ilvermorny, his dad went to Kold-something he could not really pronounce but it was that magical school in Russia. But after his father blew up at his grandmother, they just packed her things and left that side of the family. Grisha did not really know or understand what was happening in that situation, but he knew the name change was required. He waited patiently for his name to be called, frowning as he didn't hear it when they passed the surnames that began with the letter K. Oh wait. Of course. Grisha placed his hands behind his back and finally heard his name. Grisha walked up to the stool and sat down, feeling the hat on his head. While he would love to be in Slytherin where his great grandfather taught, he had a feeling that he was not quite Slytherin enough.

"Another Styx?! You might believe you are not quite slytherin enough, but you very much are.....Slytherin,"

Eugene had never had much of an imagination, there hadn’t always been time in his life to be thinking of magical fantastical places, but seeing this in front of him, seeing the school for the first time, he’d been in awe of it. All of the wildest fantasies he could’ve thought of wouldn’t match to this. He’d seen pieces of magic in his few ventures into the magical world, but this was different. Eugene couldn’t stop being visible in awe of his new world. His mind was abuzz with lyrics and phrases that he could use to describe it. He wanted his notebook, where he could note them down, but he didn’t have it with him, he didn’t have his guitar with him either, which was something that made a little uncomfortable, most it was his most prized possession, more so than his new wand and he just didn’t want it to get stolen. Eugene just had been told he wouldn’t need it for this welcome feast and he would get it back soon enough. He wanted to know when exactly that was, but they’d rushed off towards the ceremony. Between learning about magic and now, he hadn’t done a whole lot of research about the school or the houses, he’d read some, but had mostly focused on the textbooks, he knew he wanted to work hard at magic since you need to work hard to get things, but it was also so he wasn’t so clueless about the world. It did mean that he didn’t know about the houses or he didn’t know that much about the houses. He just wanted a place to live, he would make wherever work. Perhaps it was why he hadn’t interested himself in learning about that. But now, as he entered the hall with his classmates and saw the four tables lined with students in specifically coloured uniforms he wished he’d maybe paid a little more attention to it. Houses had just been such a non-thing for him. It wasn’t something that had ever defined him like it was likely about to.

Eugene’s gaze finally moved towards the headmistress and he had a wide and interested expression. Everything about this world seemed so amazing compared to his own. He couldn’t wait to write to his cousin and tell her all about this place. He knew his muggle devices wouldn’t work here so he’d just have to describe it, or write a song, she’d always been one to understand what he meant when he was writing. Eugene smiled towards the hat and couldn’t help the absolute amazement as it began to sing. He had gather that the school didn’t have a music program, that it wasn’t one of those schools, but he’d already met others who were keen on music and if the hat sung then clearly it wassn’t entirely frowned upon, it would just be up to him to keep his practicing up, to keep his singing up, to keep his writing up. He didn’t mind that, music classes had only been once a week at muggle school anyway, he’d done so much without guidance he didn’t need it now. Eugene broke into uproarious applause for the hat as its song came to an end. Since to him that was kind of incredible, a hat singing. A hat holding a tune. A hat being seemingly alive! But then people started getting sorted, he tried to not judge where they ended up, but he was looking closely at their manners and expressions as they approached the stool and got sorted. He looked closely at the house and the expressions of those in it as the students went to sit. He couldn’t discern much from it, students seemed to vary from house to house. Eugene was growing increasingly nervous the closer it came to his name. He was ready for this, but it was nerve wracking nonetheless. He knew that the hat looked at a person’s mind and he decided to focus on what his mother had always taught him to be, kind, generous and happy.

Eugene heard his name be called and he was quick to step forward, his hands were sweating, shaking lightly, but there was as anticipation as there were nerves. He sat down, letting the hat be placed on his head and he let out a little breath, ”Kia Ora,” he greeted the hat with a quiet whisper, wanting to at least be polite to the thing deciding his future. ”By the way your song was wicked bro,”

"That was nothing. I'm already working on next year's song. Wait 'til you hear it. But enough about me...this is supposed to be all about you so let me take a look. Oh, this is an easy one. Your work ethic, sense of fairness, and honesty make you a... Hufflepuff!"

Sayana bit her lip nervously as she watched the other students get sorted. What if it was all a mistake? What if her name wasn't called? What if the owl that delivered her acceptance letter was just lost and accidentally dropped the letter at her door? Sayana thought as hard as she could, trying to remember the day she first received her Hogwarts acceptance letter. Her younger brother was feeding their hunting eagles - did the Hogwarts owl want a bite and accidentally dropped the letter in excitement? No wait - the letter had her name. Sayana. A name her father had given her the moment he found out her mum was pregnant. A name that meant "million years of joy and pleasure". Well, more like million years of embarrassment if she found out this was all a mistake, or a mix up. Was there another Sayana Conchaka, perhaps from a different tribe? Sayana shook her head, before looking down at her feet and smiling, amazed at her own train of thought. It was her letter. She knew it was.

It was the first time Sayana had been away from her tribe. Her father had told her he was proud of her, and he knew she was special from the moment he carried her as a baby in his arms. Make me proud little Sayana, that was his exact words before she left for Hogwarts. Sayana teared up, remembering the words of her father. I wished they were all here, even Grandma Bulga. They would love to see this castle. Her family had been supportive of her new school.

"Conchaka, Sayana"

Sayana blinked. Was it finally her turn? Wait, the sorting hat even pronounced her name correctly. Even the tourists who visited her tribe got her name wrong, even after she had corrected them. Very much impressed with the Sorting Hat, Sayana made her way up to get sorted.

"Very interesting...there's some very interesting stuff here....Hmmm, oh I see it....Ravenclaw,"

Julia came into the hall with wide smile at Gryffindor table and hand in hand with Remus. She wasn't scared about sorting, what bad can happen? Hats doesn't bite, she has her wand and has memorized at least some spells and in any other situation she could at least run, she was fast enough. And it would be cool and funny, she would love to run from hat, memories for a whole life! She would totally tell that story to her nieces and nephews, unless she won't have her own kids, but she always felt like she would be a cool auntie and a bad mom, but who knows?
Anya was almost disappointed when she saw that there wasn't any adventure or anything, Hat literally just talked, how fun was it? Not a bit, so she got a bit bored and started poking Remus, it was more interesting. When she heard her name she looked up and got confused, she kinda forgot where she was, but then fastly went up to Hat. When she got under the Hat, she proudly smiled and then showed tongue at twin. She was more than sure that she won't be in the same house as twin, but it wasn't such a big deal to her. She just wanted to go to her table and do something more interesting or just to eat.

"Eating is rather interesting, not something I do, but it seems interesting. You though, this is quite obvious to me, there's a little slytherin in there, but overridingly....Gryffindor,"

Jaewon's stomach started to rumble as he watched the sorting take place. I hope no one heard that, he thought to himself with a sheepish grin. When were they going to eat? It had been hours since he had that cheeseburger earlier. Jaewon patted his stomach, convincing himself that the sorting process would be over and done with any moment soon.

Being a muggleborn, this was the very first time he was seeing a talking hat. Would the sorting hat be able to tell he was starving? Could the hat make a cheeseburger appear? After all it was a magical hat.

Jaewon tried to imagine a cheeseburger coming out of the hat. It did sound odd, but magic can make anything happen? Right? As Jaewon was pondering over this, he heard his name being called.

My turn, finally he thought as he proceeded his way up to get sorted. The time had come.

"And your turn will soon be over too. Though you seem to want a specific place, I can assure you I know best and you will do best in......Hufflepuff,"

The world seemed so very small sitting in a room full of students all watching and waiting for the announcement of the sorting hat. Benji did not fear the hat as some of the others might but he was anxious none the less. The hat would set him on the first step to find out who he was and what he truly would be capable of over the next seven years. To leave a decision like this to a hat seemed monmentous but his step dad had told him just the night before his arrival that he should trust the hat for it had always been a good measure of a persons character and heart.

His stepdad had once been sorted by the hat too, long time ago. He had been sorted into the house of Gryffindor if the story was true or perhaps it was ravenclaw. James, his stepdad, had not the greatest memory but either way he had told Benji that any house would be a good fit. James believed he had markers for each though he felt that ravenclaw or slytherin would suit Benji. While Benji had no idea. He had made a friend in hufflepuff and had heard the tale of the legendary Harry Potter and found that there were admirable qualities in all houses.

Sitting down before the four tables he waited as the hat was lowered on to his head. “Magie veille sur moi,”Benji said in silent prayer. Magic watch over me. It was a prayer or chant his dad Kent had said every night before they said good night. Magic watch over me. It was not the full phrase but it helped steel him for whatever came next.

"This is nothing to worry about, it'll be over soon enough and you'll be your way to greatness, and for you that greatness can be found in.....Ravenclaw,"

Kita followed her fellow classmates into the Great Hall. The train ride had been rather boring to be honest. She had not met anyone that was too interesting. The young blonde was really hoping to find someone that she could stand beside, someone useful for her studies here at Hogwarts. She highly doubted that would be her sister, but sometimes you have to compromise. She needed friends or she would be an outcast. That was just unacceptable. Kita wanted her name to be known here. This was chance. Being an outcast certainly could not accomplish that. And Kita always got what she worked for.

The young girl looked around the Great Hall. It was just as she had read in her books, the pictures not quite showing every detail, but it was not a surprise as it seemed to many of the other students. She wondered if any had not known they coming to Hogwarts at all. That was insane to the young girl who had prepped for this moment. She had even bought extra books just in case.

Kita listened to the Headmistress's speech. It was something that might prove important in the future. The Hat's song was a little less important. Kita had already learned about the houses in greater detail, but it was a neat trick. She wondered how it was done, not much was said in the books she had read. She thought about asking the Hat, but after waiting so long for her name to be called, she forgot.

"Spencer, Kita"

Kita pushed her side braid behind her as she walked to the front of the Great Hall, a forced smile on her face. She wanted to make a good impression on her fellow first years and professors. The young girl took a seat on the stool, still smiling until her cheeks were hurting slightly. The old hat was placed on her head and she closed her eyes, letting her face relax. She had read that the Hat could hear her thoughts, a crazy and uncomfortable concept. She tried to keep her thoughts in check. What is Taking so long?...Please just don't place me with my sister... I want true people who I can trust in my house....I wonder which house will make me the best. The thoughts wondered in her mind, unable to contain every thought no matter how hard she tried.

"I don't take too long...I take as long as I need but really this wasn't too hard....with ambition and drive like this, the choice is obvious....Slytherin,"

Tonight was the night. The night where Takano could find out where destiny had chosen her to be. The night she had thought about for weeks ever since she got her acceptance letter. Her father was a Slytherin, and her mum, a Ravenclaw. So she could be either of both, or even a different house altogether. Takano looked around, scanning the faces of the ones around her. None of them really peaked her interest. Was it going to be a boring year? None of them seemed like the fun type, at least to her.

Looking ahead again, Takano watched as the Sorting started. It was literally taking forever. Why did her last name start with an M? Takano rolled her eyes. How nice it must have been for the ones starting with an A. Takano shook her head in annoyance, watching as the others were called up to get sorted. She watched their reactions when the Hat announced their houses. Some looked pleased, some visibly shaken and upset. What would her reaction be? Would she react like the latter? Or would she be content with the house she got?

"Mochizuki, Takano"

It was finally her turn. Finally. This was it. Determined not to trip on her way up, Takano slowly made her way up and sat on the stool.

"Hmm...this is curious...you are a curious person. A good combination with a lot of things..but I think you'll do well in.....Gryffindor,"

Vivid stars twinkled through white wisps of cloud overhead of those entering the Great Hall, shining brightly against the velvet darkness of space that blanketed the entirety of its ceiling, dominated by a single pale moon that bathed the room's entrants in a silvery light. The hall itself was further illuminated by flickering candle flames that appeared to sway and float in mid-air as if held aloft by invisible threads, bathing the building's lengthy tables adorned with shining dishes in a warm glow. Katherine herself stood positioned behind a podium at the forefront of the hall, greeting the youths who entered with a silent nod and a small smile. A sea of faces both new and old, from those here for their first year, to those here for their last.

"Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa." Katherine began, her eyes sweeping over the sea of faces already gathered at the house tables, and those waiting to join them. "Welcome, to those of you returning for another year, and to those of you joining us for the first time today. For many of you, this day marks the start of your journey as young witches and wizards in the magical world. The castle and its surrounding grounds will be your home for the next seven years - a place for you all to live, to learn, and to grow. That being said, I must remind the older students, and caution those of you who are new, that the Forbidden Forest is strictly off-limits to students unless supervised by a professor or member of staff. It may look enticing to some of you, but many dangers lurk within the forest. It is restricted for your safety, and any rule breakers will be punished accordingly."

The woman let her warning linger for a moment, eyeing those in particular who appeared more than willing to break that rule, before continuing on. "Now, let's begin. Each of you will be sorted into a house, which you will remain in for the duration of your time here. These houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, named after each of the original founding members of this prestigious school. " As she spoke each name, banners rolled up against the farthest wall suddenly unfurled, depicting the colours and crests of each individual house, matching the silk cloths adorning each table. "You will be sorted based on the values of each founder, and placed with students who embody similar values. First-years, as I call your name, step forward and seat yourselves here." Katherine gestured toward the short stool at the front of the hall, situated in perfect view of everyone present. "Once seated, I will place the Sorting Hat upon your heads, after which your future house will be decided and you are to move on to your table and join your new housemates. This decision is final, and houses cannot be changed once the Sorting Hat has made its decision. Now, let us begin." Ending it on that note, the woman unraveled the roll of parchment in front of her and called up the first name.

As stated in the Information about Sorting thread, you must fill out the sorting form entirely and properly, and fill in an RP as exemplified in the post. If your RP does not leave room for the sorting hat to sort you: you will not be sorted. If the sorting hat does not receive your sorting form: you will not be sorted. Follow instructions and: you will be sorted.

You can edit your post once you are sorted, but be sure that you only reply to this topic once and it is through the sorting form provided. Thank you.
Auberon walked in and glanced around the room, its decorations is what amazed the child as he looked everywhere, his crystal eyes darting from every corners of the rooms, his eyes trailing the students seated on their respective tables whilst the new comers stood there, his eyes snapped towards to the lady.... the Headmistress, listening to her speech as he felt really excited but kept his face neutral as he looked around.

Once the anthem was sang, he then waited for his turn, a few eyes turning to him, probably his hair must've caught the attention as he gave them a side glance and huffed, the moment finally came once his names was called on, feeling a bit tensed but shook the feeling away as he walked up to the stool and sat down, waiting for the sorting hat to do it's part.

"Nothing to be worried about here, I'll only take a moment. It's strange you want one house, when I think you'd be much more suited to another....Hufflepuff,"

Oliver had only the vaguest ideas of what each House was supposed to represent and while he wished to say he wanted one over another he couldn't make that call. It was certainly why there was an omniscient hat making this call - at least for him it'd be useful. Some of the other students seemed so set against it but some of the other students understood magic more than he did. Oli waited and wondered what would come of his next seven years of his life while the A names completed and it was time for the B students. He was anxious to find out more about himself and his future house and so when his name was called the boy confidently strode to the seat and brushed his hair back and out of his face before it would be placed upon him. When it was the boy tried to think polite thoughts - it seemed the Hat had some sass and Oli didn't want to be victim of the Hat's sharp tongue... point? Whatever it was. "I can't decide what's best for me so whatever you want is right," he thought as if this piece of fabric didn't already make the decisions anyway.

"That is quite literally my job, I'll be sure to do you right....Let's see what we've got...hmm...yes..this is the best decision for you....Hufflepuff,"

It was finally her turn to be sorted.
Years previous, Ivy's big brother, Arriman, had disappeared off to some magical school that he never shut up about (unless their youngest sister was around), and Ivy had always been jealous of the adventures he seemed to have. Now she was going to get a taste of the action, and she could hardly wait.

Ivy stared at the sea of faces, the magical decorations, the ambience that overwhelmed. This whole place was.. Was.. INSANE! She'd only seen things like this in her comics. She loved it.
Ivy was so engulfed in the wonder of it all, that she entirely missed hearing her own name. In fact, it wasn't until several children were staring at her, that she realised it was her turn to be sorted.

Ivy walked to the front of the hall, seated herself, and felt the hat sliding onto her head. Her ears kept it from slipping down. She paced her breathing as best as she could. This was it.

"Hmmm..you are a rather curious person, but there is one overriding factor I can see for my decision. Yes, that'll be the right place.....Ravenclaw,"

Lydia Baros walked into the school that once housed her mother and father, and briefly, her brother as well before he switched to another school. Lydia was unsure what school she really wanted to go to, but she would give this one a shot. She did want to see if she was a Slytherin, a Ravenclaw, or a Hufflepuff like Cyrus. Maybe she was none of the above. Who knows. Lydia heard her name so the youngest of her family walked up to the stool and sat down. She felt the hat on her head, and crossed her ankles. Where oh where was she going?

"Hmm, I think this is rather simple, you could suit ravenclaw, but you'll certainly manage best in....Hufflepuff,"

Magnus remains enthralled by the enchanted ceiling and it's beautiful stars shining above. He always wondered what the stars mean in the greater picture. One thought lead to another, and now he was imagining how marvelous it is that magic like this existed, that one could replicate such beauty on the ceiling. Such beautiful thoughts. It is a shame they were interrupted by an embarrassing pause.

'Magnus Cromwell.. Magnus Cromwell?'

He snaps out of his awe and instantly focuses at the matters at hand. His heart drops as he imagines all the eyes on him, but he raises his head anyways, and marches towards the sorting hat. He would be happy with any house, as long as he can make it proud.

"You will certainly make the house you end up proud. With all this ambition and drive there is no doubt where you are to go.....Slytherin,"

This was going to be awful. Riley knew what was coming. Who, in their right mind, thought it would be a good idea to make eleven year olds sit on a stage in front of a massive crowd, while they await their fate? While everyone watches, awkwardly and silently, waiting to see where someone (that they don't really care about) ends up? Her mother always tutted and rolled her eyes when Riley questioned it. "It's the way it goes! It's tradition!", she always said, which usually ended up with Riley mocking her.
Her mother had been away from the school long enough that Riley hoped there was no one around to remember the lady; she hoped even the Professors had left, though she knew Aunty Cyndi was still there. It was going to be weird to see her more than mom.
Riley awkwardly waited for her turn. She didn't quite know where to look. She didn't want to make the person on the stool feel awkward - though so many people were already watching, she supposed one more set of eyes wouldn't hurt. Besides, unless she wanted to stare at the crowd behind her, there wasn't really anywhere else to look - apart from the stunning sky, but Riley didn't want to be one of those people. Luckily, 'K' wasn't that far down the alphabetical list, and it was finally her turn. Please let this go quick. She thought as she made her way to the seat.

"Hmm....this will go quickly enough. You've got a lot going on her, a thirst for adventure, but an ambition too, however I believe you know best and I agree....Gryffindor,"

I just staring to the students silently while them being sorted. Then later on I heard the Professor called my name.I slowly walk in the aisle to infront where I will be sorted. I sat in the stool, then the Professor place the hat in my head.

"Hmm, I think I see a number of things here, a good intelligence, some work ethic but above everything else is your ambition and for that.....Slytherin,"

It was time, sorting time. Rosalie didn't know how to feel at this moment. Anxious, excited, overwhelmed? She was all three. It honestly didn't matter what house she was in, she didn't really know the difference, one was brave, another honest, smart and another cunning. She didn't know which one she would be in, and that was what scared her. Rosalie prefers to be in the know, understand what is happening around her. Right now wasn't those times. As soon as the last student left the stool, Rosalies name was called.

"Quinn, Rosalie."

Rosalie wasn't finished being nervous but she had no more time to wait. Walking to the front of the hall and sitting on the rickety stool, she closed her eyes and sighed. When the hat was placed on her head, she was the most nervous person she had ever met. Fidgeting with her clammy hands and feeling her rapidly beating heart was all she could do as it said,

"Hmmm. There is nothing to be nervous about, though don't think that'll help you much...I'll make this quick then....Gryffindor,"

Annie was disoriented when she entered the Great Hall, in addition to the crowd the starry sky magically placed above them making her feel very small. She followed with her eyes all the students who were heading towards the platform observing their reaction, they were sometimes happy, disappointed or surprised, even angry. She waited in her corner for someone to call her because she hadn't met anyone yet, which changed her from the orphanage where she spoke to someone every day.

"Grimm,Annie"

She walked over to the platform, surprisingly without too much trouble, then sat down in the seat before the sorting hat was placed on her head, "Uh, hello?" she said shyly, she wasn't used to talking with hats but she thought she would get used to it in time.

"Oh Hello! No one is used to talking to hat, even in this world, and really I do ALL the talking..but that's all I've got to say for now....Ravenclaw,"
