Slytherin,PracticeEleanor Kingsley was determined to do well this year. She wanted to win the Quidditch House Cup. They had an excellent team with most of the team returning from last year, and she felt confident in the new members. Eleanor arrived at the pitch first and got out the practice supplies. She waited for the team to arrive.

The results of the Quidditch tryouts had been interesting, to say the least. Celia was relieved that Liusaidh wouldn't be captaining the team on her own, though she wasn't sure how effective of a leader Eleanor would be. She was also curious to see how Ivelisse would fare as their starting seeker. Celia was a bit disappointed that she was no longer the youngest starter on the team, but hopefully the change would mean more Slytherin victories. Surely, Ivelisse couldn't do any worse than Ruben, who Celia still blamed for their third-place finish last year.

At the end of the day, though, Celia didn't particularly care how her teammates did. She was sure she could shine on her own. That was one of the advantages of the beater position. Hufflepuff's beaters had proved as much last year. Celia arrived at the pitch early, shooting Eleanor a friendly smile. There was no point in getting on the captain's bad side if she could help it. It seemed she was one of the first to arrive, and she decided to take advantage of the extra time to do a last-minute inspection of her broom, checking for bent and loose twigs.

Indi arrived to practice and crossed her arms as Eleanor addressed the team. She didn't have much faith in these new captains but that wasn't going to stop her from doing her best this year. They had a lot to make up for and she was ready to put in the work. She could at least take some satisfaction that Natalia was an alternate again while she had her spot secured on the the starting team. Indi tapped her foot impatiently, ready to get things started already.

Ivelisse was keen to be appointed as seeker, even if she knew that meant a lot of pressure on her. She could deal with. Surely she'd be better than Ruben had been at it. She had to be. No, she definitely was. Ive headed for the pitch with full confidence, grinning at the students already there as she waited for practice to start.

Avery knew better than to celebrate getting a spot on the team this early on. He'd been unable to help but write a letter to his mother, which sat neatly folded on his bedside, but he couldn't bring himself to send it yet. Not until after the first practice concluded at least. He didn't want to jinx it, in case the captains changed their minds. He hoped she'd be proud of him. It was hard to know if he was doing the right thing anytime he attempted to follow in his father's footsteps. Sometimes she seemed happy whenever he did so. A lot of the time it seemed as if he were only serving to remind her of painful memories.

The boy trod onto the pitch, his mother's old broom in hand. He'd thought there was already a lot of pressure to do well during the try-outs, but that feeling didn't compare to the pressure of the first practice. He was only an alternate, and he could assume that meant they weren't expecting him to do as well as the other seeker, though that meant he had to try do his best to compete if he were to stay on in future years. He stood on the spot, pretending to be more interested in his broom than anyone else.

Liusaidh arrived at the pitch, she didn't love sharing this responsibility with Eleanor but they'd get it. "Alright, in the air, go on," Liusaidh told them, releasing all the balls, but keeping the quaffle to herself to begin heading towards the hoops.

Avie wasted no time taking to the sky on the word go - and flew off after the golden ball. Already it was practically gone from his sight, and he had to scour the air in search of it again.

Seamus was immediately surprised when upon reaching the pitch he hit a bludger dead on and was able to hit the captain who had the ball in his first move. He got the impression she was going to hate that but at least he hadn't failed
Liusaidh x1[/spoiler[

Avery was shocked that Seamus had already managed to strike a bludger, at the captain no less. It was a smart move, making sure she knew he was doing his job well. Avie needed to match it, but the snitch eluded him.

It frustrated Natalia a bit that she was still an alternate, but she understood why. She just hoped she could at least play in a game again, as she had done a few times so far. Natalia flew up to Liusaidh and attempted to steal the quaffle from her.

When practice was started Ivelisse shot up, starting her search for the snitch.

Maybe Liusaidh wouldn't be such a terrible co-captain. The older Slytherin seemed to be fairly no-nonsense about the whole thing, which Celia appreciated. She grabbed her bat and shot up into the air, heading for the nearest bludger.

Avie accelerated in no particular direction, hoping to better spot the snitch from a different part of the pitch.

Ivelisse continued looking for a hint of gold.

Celia caught up with the bludger and smacked it towards @Ivelisse Burleigh, grinning when it made contact. She wasn't about to let the alternate beater upstage her.

Ivelisse x1
Liusaidh x1

Ivelisse thought she noticed a hint of gold a little further down but was quickly helped out of that dream when a bludger collided with her shoulder. She glared at Celia for a second before continuing her search, not planning on letting it distract her.

Avery thought he could see the glint of gold close to one of the stands towers, and flew off in that direction.

Celia rolled her eyes at Ivelisse's glare. If the other girl didn't want to get hit, then she needed to get better at dodging. Celia chased after another bludger and sent it towards @Avery Lancaster. She smiled, glancing at the captains to see if they'd noticed her success.

Avery x1
Ivelisse x1
Liusaidh x1

Ivelisse continued scanning the sky, a little more aware of the bludgers flying around now.

Satisfied that she'd hit both seekers, Celia decided to switch targets. Normally she did not like aiming for beaters during practice because they were the only ones who could hit back. But after Hufflepuff's performance against Ilvermony last year, she knew there was a chance she would need to switch from aiming for seekers to taking out beaters in a game. It was better to practice doing that now. Celia tried to hit her next bludger towards Ares, but it changed direction mid-flight.

As soon as Liusaidh was close enough she threw the ball and was exceedingly pleased to see it go in. That was a good way to start a practice.

Given that Seamus knew he'd gotten lucky with the first hit he wasn't too bothered when the second bludger he tried to hit, he missed entirely.

Ivelisse thought she saw a hint of gold, flying towards it only for it to disappear again.

Celia headed for the other side of the pitch in an attempt to intercept the other bludger. She managed to hit it with her bat, but the angle was a bit awkward, and the ball shot off in the wrong direction.

Ivelisse continued looking.
